It's Official: White House Brands Wikileaks, And All Those Associated, As Criminals
Just a headline from Reuters right now: "White House says WikiLeaks and people who share information with them are criminals"
Unclear is Assange is about to be charged with treason. It is also unclear if the First Amendment is still valid. If so, we will try to bring you an update on this situation.

You seem to forget the fact that they also had to somehow convince a bunch of people to commit suicide. How come the conspiracy theorists never think of that? Do they think they used a remote control or something?
Here's a hint: The US does a lot of evil stuff, but they don't get people to commit suicide.
Yeah, that's just what I thought you would say! Loosen the tin-foil beanie there, pardner!
+ 1000
Thank you, trav7777.
It's not just the overly generous view they have of government competence (or Bilderberger competence). Combine that with the fact most people develop their view of the world through Hollywood movies and popular works of fiction, and one has the recipe for the Conspiracy Industry.
The average ten year old thinks he can take a Greyhound to Andromeda while on summer vacation from Warlock Academy. This is an understandable mistake. When adults do the equivalent, it is your oft noted Downing Effect, albeit with sophistication replacing intelligence.
what I want to know is : What's this "hippie, socialist, conspiracy" agenda Spitzer keeps raving about? I'm new to ZH....want to know if that's your official platform? Hey - it's Spitzer, right? He sez it, must be true.... on the flip-side, I thought we ran that douche bag out of the Guv's mansion I'm so confused.......
9/11 inside job= hippie, socialist,conspiracy agenda
9/11 outside job= zionist banker scum
Haven't you heard?.. Israel is our bestest friend EVER!!
Just ask the salors on the USS Liberty..
I don't believe 9/11 was an inside job, and I HATE Israel (but not Jews).
I would LOVE to blame the government for this, but it just doesn't make sense. Truthers are 100% victims of confirmation bias.
The extent of US involvement in 9/11 is the initial actions which caused the blowback that hit the US so hard that day.
It's OK to leak, as long as you don't lie about it if asked. Just ask Scooter Libby...
My view is that these guys are heroes, but soon-to-be martyrs...
Only the naive think they are heroes. They are zeroes!
And Scooter Libby had no reason to lie. None. He didn't lie, period.
Here in the UK, when presented with leaks, the gov't sets up "fully independent inquiries".
yeah, here in USA we have charades and comedy shows called "congressional inquiries" ooop...forgot to capitalize "congress"
You forget to mention they are always chaired by Chris Dodd.
Gee NerObama, you wanted to play Bush's game, now you got his genital warts. Whoops.
Perhaps you should have thrown out the ugly std infected corporate fascist whorish viewpoints like you campaigned on, instead of joining that whore in her bedroom on the first night. Prima Nocturne.
Trying to blame the wikileaks guy is a red herring. Besides, not all of this is about YOU NERO. It's about our entire fucktastic imperialist monetarist foreign policy that not even Hillary can get us out of. She tries, you Nero, fuck it up. (hey hillary isn't fucking perfect either, but this ain't HER fault).
Instead of going after people reporting at least some, selective high crimes and misdeamenors, how about going after the ones who are PROMOTING and CURRENTLY ENGAGED in such high crimes and misdemeanors.
Don't worry Rand Paul, you're even more clueless than fucktard NerObama and his LeNero James butt crush.
What's the love child between NerObama and 'W' with a little Palin pussy juice squeezed on top? Rand 'fascist fuck' Paul.
I swear going after the messenger rather than the one conceiving/writing the illegal messages and thus policies is plain stupid.
All you need to do is the right thing, which at this point is EASY. Glass-Steagall, NAWAPA. Which of course we aren't talking about because we need to read hundreds of thousands of 'who cares' leaks that don't amount to shit. Reading these leaks will distract you from Ireland and the bailouts, and how with Glass-Steagall they're so, so unneccessary.
Here comes Julian Assange, with enough pages that 10,000 Cletus's could furnish their double-wide with enough wall paper to last until all the squirrels in the area you use for food are done, dead,h and eaten.
Besides, in reality, where most pretend to live, we should already recognize such things are said. What's that they say about the curse of reading minds....you find out what people really think.
Big fucking deal. This crap belongs more on ET, and TMZ, than ZH. It's all good though, and maybe there are some pertinent things in there. But overall we'd be best off forgetting this shit, and just pushing through Glass-Steagall.
Do you get rid of an empire by reading Wikileaks? Or by destroying their hands on the bullshit monetary lever through Glass-Stegall?
You decide. Ones games and bread. The other is 'down to business'.
So...Nero is an idiot. Julian Assange is an idiot. The media are idiots, and of course the collapsing economy and Glass-Steagall should be 2nd and 1st out of the mouths in just about everything, everyday, until it's a reality that we've put in American solutions to the worlds' British imperialist problem.
what does rand paul have to do with any of this, you ID 10 T?
I think a better question is what does any of the entire incoherent rant have to do with this?
Colonel, I was just a' thinkin' about the same line o' thought and decided ta skip ta the end and begin readin' backwards cuz some times it helps with the logic sequence stuff.
feel better, we'll all idiots...

I thought Assange was Australian.. Anyway I'd argue that while making classified documents is undoubtedly a crime, I doubt that it's necessarily treason. I'd in fact support anyone who leaked classified documents that demonstrated that the government was engaged in illegal activities. It's when government officials subvert our laws that treason occurs.
All right, put the brain down and back away slowly, so no one gets hurt! :>D
Time to get back to important matters, like the impending housing meltdown V2.0, Fraudclosures, market manipulations, International Ponzi schemes, flash crashes -- so many problems, so little time! Assange will fade into the background once the Great Implosion commences...
Tyler...u need to write a para exposing this nonsense wikileaks and start giving it little respect.....some people are begining to get suspicious
What are the current odds on Assange living on the planet after December 31, 2011 ?
Will he go missing (never to be found again) or will he be found dead following a bizarre traffic accident?
"bizarre traffic accident" -- like landing in traffic after falling out of a helicopter?
Hey... there's still the Assange 'history insurance' file out there:
The file is AES encrypted and has been speculated to serve as insurance in case the WikiLeaks website or its spokesman Julian Assange are incapacitated...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WikiLeaks
Assange rocks... historically speaking though, insurance policies didn't help William Casey or Chip Tatum in the end...
Death takes no prisoners, just ask Dumbledore.
Odds are Assange rooms with Ken Lay in Paraguay.
Hold my beer, I gotta take a Wikileak.
If the WH were to use the T label he could be targeted for...termination with extreme prejudice...
Is it true the State Department could do that unilaterally?
Cringing at the thought...
Pete
King wants Wikileaks labeled a terrorist organization.
If they are, and this leak is an act of terrorism, does that mean the media outlets that are helping to spread the cables to the masses are guilty of aiding and abetting terrorists?
King is my local congresscritter, and in the past, I thought him okay as far as pols go, but his statement is ridiculous.
The good news is that if the Afghanistan model is still relevant, after declaring Assange a terrorist, we can invade Sweden in order to find him.
Outstanding. Concentrate fire on that ABBA museum...
I'm thinking we combine the Abu Ghraib photo concept with the native population of busty, blonde "enemy combatants". Hell, you could probably fund the whole operation just by selling calendars. And who knows, we might even make Robo blush.
Well if we go that far, then driving a Volvo will be akin to wearing a Keffiyeh.
And Berkeley, California will be toast.
Ya know...on second thought...
If Assange isn't a citizen he can't commit treason against the U.S. in the first place and First Amendment rights do not constitute a blanket permit to utter or write anything, anytime under any conditions. Try yelling "fire!" or "bomb!" next time you're in a large crowd and see what happens. Also, I'm all for exposing government criminality and I'm sure there's much to expose but the implication (in general and to the extent that there is one by ZH in particular) that all information needs/should be free is simply ridiculous. Is not ZeroHedge structured around the belief and desire that certain types of information remain non-public?
That said, much is moot here: 'U.S. Citizen' as a status means less and less every day, the federal government makes up rules as it goes along and the U.S. doesn't have many secrets to protect anyway. What has Julian got his hands on?... our secret plan for Afghanistan? Obama's economic master plan? the key-code to Hilary's bedroom?
Sold to you.
Oh, and now that the TSA is going to 2nd/3rd base with grandma every day don't expect too much voter outrage if it turns out that the CIA is still making Muslim prisoners dress up in women's clothing.
Obama doesn't give a fig about some info leak that puts America on a weaker footing with the rest of the world anyway. If anything he's probably upset this Assange might have beat him to it, robbing him of a second Nobel. I think he's more concerned that correspondence will be discovered showing that many world leaders and power brokers think he's a fuckwit and a pansy.
so, leaking all the civilians the US has murdered in cold blood didn't set them off, but releasing all the shit talking that we do and everyone else does is the last straw?
shoot the messenger.
while the criminals that did the breaking of the multiple laws spin and deflect the blame on the whistleblowers..
whistle blowers should be rewarded not the crooks that keep crooking.
Make no mistake Assange is the enemy. I fell no empathy for this asshole
everyone is an enemy, that's the problem.
trust matters, or it should.
If the government isn't up to anything wrong or bad, why should they care if their private conversations are published?
Exactly. "If you've done nothing wrong, you've got nothing to worry about" is their excuse for Big Brother CCTV. Wikileaks is, as limited as it stands, ours, on them.
Sounds to me like they're woefully short on Modern Patriotism.
Isn't it like it always was, like that quote goes?
Having your balls cupped'n'fondled is the higher form of patrotism.
Per the latest TSA happenings.
Highest. Highest form. Best, most-est, exceptional, incontrovertible, incomparable, magnificent, John Wayne Complex Gung Ho Kill Them Godless Bastard Camel Happy Corneal American Flag Tattoo Squeeze My Balls and Twice on Sunday Mother Fucking Patriot.
ROFLMAO funny
There's nothin' like the smell of freshly fondled balls in the mornin'.
-Col. Kurtz (before depression)
Funny how the enemies have become the people protecting their rights against a fascist government.
IMO, if the government doesn't like stuff being published then they should not give it the Wikileaks to publish... sheesh.
What a scam.
.
Don't you have to be a citizen of a country in order to be a traitor?
oops
Just call this country what it is: a totalitarian regime. There is no "rule of law" there is only subjective interpretation and enforcement. The United States of America is dead. Stick a fork in it.
That being said, we have a choice: surrender or fight.
hide in the tall-grass, and wait...
Or lay low, Galt's Gulch.
"Surrender or fight": doesn't get much simpler than that. Milestones
In the posts here the people that are fully propagandized into the Imperial Grand Area doctrine are clearly evident. How is a Swedish or whatever citizen who did not steal the documents himself nor direct the documents to be stolen but merely disseminated said stolen documents guilty of treason? Elsberg stole the documents and disseminated them himself and he was not tried for treason. Have things changes that much in 40 years? The law hasn't changed only the opinion of the people. Clearly Mr. Assange is not guilty of anything other than embarrasing American officials unless you have been brainwashed into the proposition that we control the World and everyone and everything in it and if we say it's treason then it is for no other reason than the force of our statement. This society is truly doomed.
Our only hope is a mad rush of patriotic solidarity to ensure that these UnAmerican monsters are exterminated. Got nukes, anyone?
Let see, we elected Obama because he was going to bring transparency. He didn't infact he went the other way. Wikileaks brings transparency and Obama declares them criminals. Boy, who would have thought getting elected president could cause amnesia
its contagious- look at most polytushins- they always forget what they ran on..im not saying its intentional, im just sayin
The Rothschilds (Reuters) and other treasonous claim the Australian psyops through Wikileaks (CIA/Mossad) engages in treason.
I can't even begin to keep track of this!
Rolling on the floor, laughing my ass off. You are not supposed to keep track of it! lol It's called 'damage control'.
Jus' tryin' to stay on top. Comes the conflagration, someone's got to toast the marshmallows.
Revelation to White House: They're not criminals; they're TRAITORS. They should be tried for treason and get the sentence the deserve -- execution!
Strikes me as odd that the WH still thinks it's running things.
+10000
Kinda like a little child pointing a finger at the other kid who broke his toy - "He's BAAAAD...he broke my toy!"
Rep. King was on TV this morning calling them a terrorist organization.
Fear any government that fears the truth. There is a reason this nation was intended to have the media serve as the 4th branch of government.
Which is why the bankers own that one too...
Having listened to the good representative King for several years now, I find that the only difference between Representative King the meathead and a meatcake from a German deli is the content of fat.
meatcake being lower fat-content
Meathead as fathead!
I wonder if these leaks are fact or fiction. The "fact" that the leaks are not being denied, reveals that that these are "facts". I am left to wonder whether the substance of the leaks represents the unveiling of treasonous acts by the US people involved who have only been caught engaging in treason because of the leaks.
Here is the other wiki's definition:
In law, treason is the crime that covers some of the more serious acts of betrayal of one's sovereign or nation
I would think that some of the leaks reveal that US citizens are engaging in treasonous acts, so people like Hillary should be careful what they wish for when they say call people criminals.
One man's treason is another man's lack of privacy.
im sure disinfo is included in the many posts in the wikipee posts..like china sending nukes to iran, yada.. yada..
same script diffent movie as the lost and found laptop and IBeAhidenNE Where
So let me get this straight....Cheney and Rove get off scot-free (and Libby's sentence get commuted) when they out an active, covert, CIA agent (Valerie Plame) in political retribution for her husband's (Joe Wilson) "disagreement" with Bush's 16 word blather in the state of the union address about non-existent WMD's, but when Wikileaks posts information about what our government is up to, redacting the names of people involved to protect them, then that's treason.
Yep, we're still a banana republic. Just checking.
Banana democracy. Big difference.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFXuGIpsdE0
You only call it treason after you engage in insider trading, not before.
Yeah, *yawn*, I'm waiting for leaked gubbermint documents on the 9/11 conspiracy/coverup, the Fed/Goldman market manipulation machine and the Israel/ADL/AIPAC kaball before I consider Assange/WikiL to be anything other than a CIA/Mossad psyop a la BinLaden/AlQueda. This seems more likely a setup for some sort of attack/shutdown of the internet. I'm sure They would love every byte input to the net to pass through some sort of TSA strip search/xray (and this is probably the goal before They actually install the control chips into our skulls).
"For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence--on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations." -another victim of Them
You will know it is time to shut down the internet when John D. Rockefeller IV (Jay), Senator of West Virginia opines that this issue is one of upmost national security.
What's criminal is his golf swing. Now watch this pager fly

Geezus.. he could use a few lessons from Tiger!
United States of America: a paragon of freedom.....in moderation.
Governments fuck up royaly.
Waiting for the leaked CIA document showing Ass-Angy on their payroll.
Note to[ the den of vipers that is] the White House:
"We think that the White House and anybody associated with them are criminals."
Take this and shove it up your ass, you criminals enrobed in government regalia.
US Government has gone insane... no chance..
It looks like we are doing a role reversal with the USSR. The centrally planned economy is alive and well right here!
Just a piece of advice. The beast is beginning to flail around looking for people to take the fall, I would NOT visit Wikileaks from a US ISP lest you wish to end up on one of the many infamous "lists" this administration seems to love.
Wikileaks is now bigger than the Washington Post and the New York Times... combined. Nobody here has mentioned Bradley Manning, the guy who uploaded the whole can of worms to wikileaks.
As if there need be a logical reason to put you on a "list". Besides, you want to be ON the list, that's for all the brother in law's of important people. Not on the list, well, it's a lumber or garden camp for you.
You want to get over your fear of lists? Go buy yourself a 91/30 Nagant and a sardine can or two of ammo for it. Shouldn't run you past 375 bucks, if that. Then you'll be on a list with the rest of us.
I should be outraged but can summon only bemusement at the sight of my government gibbering in fear at the prospect of some little truth escaping into the world. How can civilization function without respect for the lies governements tell their citizens and each other?
Yup, what's next? Dogs and cats living together? :>D

Most likely this is so they can justify censoring the internet.
Your right about the banks, they should have? failed, now they are taking over everything with our money.
Anyway, America has had at least 3 major depressions.
The chickenshit that thumb drived that to him should be hung for treason period.
A member of the US American Armed Forces, stealing this much info, cannot stand.
But with the chickenshit Admin we have (attacking only elderly, and middle class ) I doubt TREASON is reason enough for the death penalty, and quickly.
It's too Pro AMERICA.
If it wasn't a cia op, I'd call him a hero.
Embarassing the State Dept. is not high on the list of things-to-do over at CIA.
Yeah, running drugs, guns and money-laundering are so much more lucrative!
consider the possibility this was purposely leaked, false flag style security breach.
think on that a bit
Hey... I've thought about it. Don't see any false flags here. In any case, State Dept. critiques of foreign leaders appear to be spot on. hugo out.
The 1st amendment has been toast for a long time.... but classified is classified. If you don't like the law, either find a way to deal with the consequences to be prepared to take on The Man.
No love here for the government, but no sympathy for any American accomplices of Assange either.
The simple explanation for this round of leaks is that it is a knife in the back from SecState. When is the last time anyone heard much about her, eh?
I agree about treason being the most heinous crime, as it involves the direct conscious act of placing us in harms way. Pretty much like placing our boys and girls in harms way when fighting a war in iraq and afghanistan. We can vote against at home while our troops die abroad. Causing troop deaths is not treason, it is doing as our leaders wish, this is not treason. It is duty. What concerns me is that we do not know whether treason is being committed by federal employees and this is evidenced (in public) by wikileaks. We have no knowledge of oversight. I say we need a jury based system (sworn to secrecy) to review the findings of closed panel senatorial panels.
I would favour the death penalty (by guillotine) if I was convinced that the error rate was less than 1%. Once it gets above this level and gets above 10% then I am against the death penalty.
Is there any knowledge level of internal, never published, treason committed by fed employees or senators? I don't know. But I will make a price in a commodity you can suggest.
You can always count on an illumnati to brand all the cattle as criminal. Why else would god invent steak sauce.
The 'harm' being caused to the USA by Wikileaks is NOTHING compared with the harm being caused to the USA by the US government. To quote one of my all-time heroes Barry Goldwater, "extremism in defense of liberty is no vice." The Wikileaks documents are extremism in defense of liberty and anyone who can't recognize that probably can't detect the shackles this government has already placed on them. I used to cry when I heard "America The Beautiful" because I believed it was possible; now I cry because I believe it is gone.

Sigh.

The US is going under, that leaves Israel to defend itself from the rest of the middle east. This is just spin to blame the whole invasion on the US, instead of the k-street/j-street war-policy makers.
Most of the terrorist blow-back will land on US soil, instead of Israeli soil.
Its all a diversion for sure, and timing is everything.

Gordon Gekko: When I get a hold of the son of a bitch who leaked this, I'm gonna tear his eyeballs out and I'm gonna suck his fucking skull.
I think - at this point - if Julian Assange needs a friend, he's going to have to buy himself a dog!
So far no real bombshells.
>>So far no real bombshells.<<
Good point. No smoking-9/11-false-flag gun.
Welcome to the post-modern, deconstructionist agenda.
If you can find the slippage (the faults where the narrative breaks its own rules of discourse) you may be able to decode the whole thing.
But the overwhelming ambiguity is meant to divide and conquer.
Wikileaks is a bomb in the social narrative that you are not meant to decode until it is too late.
Let’s get Bush/Cheney/John Yoo in Federal prison FIRST!
We know who the real criminals are. It's as simple as that, no need to elaborate nor say another word.
Who benefits from the leaks?
This may be only partial answer. By following the money that pays for Wikileaks and its servers, as well as the stated intents of the soldier who leaked the data, once can surmise who will benefit and HOW they plan to benefit.
Soros money funded Wikileaks and has paid for the nuclear-hardened bunker where their serverse are housed, at astronomincal cost. The man who leaked the data has said in his own words that he relishes the "beauty and horror" of the chaos that it will create for the United States. Does that help?
Nuclear-hardened bunker . . . in a Swedish suburb?
http://www.foxnews.com/world/2010/08/06/swedish-web-hosting-firm-confirm...
You can be positive about one thing. Private Manning will never make Pfc. Sheeesh, they could have at least picked an NCO, not that he'd have that kind of access, but a Buck Private?
Feigned indignance as only politics (or clergy) can tender.
More interesting to me than the leaks themselves is who is funding Wikileaks. Once again, Soros money is intentionally creating chaos. And the leaker has already indicated that he looks forward to the "beauty and horror" of the chaos that will ensue. It suggests the true purpose of his leak, and of Soros' purpose in funding it.
That nuclear-hardened bunker where those servers are housed must be a VERY expensive place to house data. Why would Soros pay for such expensive facilities if not to intentionally harm the United States? He should be tried for treason and receive the appropriate punishment for those convicted of such a crime.
Sorry pal - you can't try Soros for treason. He's not a US citizen. Now, once you get your world government established, THEN you can go after him. Until then, rave on. On the other hand, if you would like to sign the US up for the Hague convention, then maybe everybody could go after some real criminals. Names, anyone?
Now you're talkin'! Where oh where to begin . . .
As the T-Shirt says... Arrest Cheney First
Assange isn't a US Citizen either.
It probably doesn't matter anymore. Since Bush, the law is whatever the president wants it to be.
He wouldn't be tried anyway, just tortured for the rest of his life in a secret prison for political dissidents.
They are setting the atmosphere up to say that Assange and the others in his organization are doing something illegal. They want him to come to the US badly. It's to late to kill him because that would show people that the powers that be in said countries had him eliminated. For the US to be this hot tells me that he literally sunk their world, and what I hear he may have more to come.
Obama isn't a good bogey man anymore. Folks aren't checking under their beds anymore to see if he's there.
And what good is a super villian who is more powerful than the Inited States of America? It's been almost a decade since we started spending a $trillion a year to kill him, and still he laughs at us.
Julian will serve as a good bogey man for a while.
Let's invade Iran and get him!
