The latest from Reuters, on the late news that Obama will both extend Unemployment Insurance for 13 months, and extend the Bush tax cuts for 2 years:
- Obama: has reached a framework for compromise with Republicans to extend all Bush tax cuts for two years
- Obama: compromise also calls for extending jobless benefits for 13 months, and calls for 2% payroll tax cuts next year, and for extension of estate tax
- Obama: says compromise is an essential step on the road to economic recovery
- Obama: he is confident that Congress will ultimately ‘do the right thing’
We just hope that the prostituting administration will finally float the one proposal we have all been waiting for: free blow jobs for everyone in
perpetuity, funded by the Federal Reserve's monetization of the Sinking
Hooker fund.
In the meantime, we present that one metric which is now completely and totally irrelevant: the US debt, which is at $14,833,512,000,000. It is also just $513 billion away from the debt ceiling. We expect with the new spending spree, Fed monetization or not, that the debt ceiling will be breached in February. And, just as both Republicans and Democrats forgot that the angry US public does not want any more irresponsible spending, and will get rid of all incumbents, so the debate over the debt ceiling will pass in under a day's debate. Next debt ceiling: infinite.
In the meantime, the futures indicate that this news has been largely priced in, and in fact the AUDJPY may soon drag the ES lower.

Don't take it personally. Most of us hate traders...PERIOD! You're nothing but a compulsive gambler that helps support the corruption by playing in its casino. Anybody can make money in a rigged market that is propped up with my children's future. If you want to participate in their demise, I'll fight you all the way. Just don't get all giddy because you're riding the coattails of some crony from Pimpco or the FRBNY taking unprecedented risks with taxpayer money. It's what you don't get about the market that gets me going, the fact that when one wins big, usually many of the little guys in 401k's and mutual funds get cooked without even doing anything but investing in their retirement.
Instead of directing your anger at the traders I would instead direct it toward the "ones" responsible for establishing the "framework" of the "nightmare" unfolding in front of us... traders are just the "dumb foot soldiers" in the trenches, they are just trying to make a living like everyone else.

PROBLEM. If I were to build my own shelter in the woods, they would arrest me for trespassing and not paying real estate taxes. If I went hunting, I would be arrested for not having a license and carrying a firearm. If I went fishing and caught a fish for dinner, but it was not regulation size, I would be hit with a lofty fine.

I concur with your assessment. I know of no local cop that will harass someone for taking game to put food on the table, so long as you are using "good judgement". Keep a low profile, do it because you need protein for the table and keep you damn mouth shut.... In our area the cops know who needs the food and will call the guys to come dress out/put down "fresh" deer that have been struck by a cars, for food for their families.
Regards fishing on your own pond, (which I do and have never had a fishing license), also take duck and geese in the fall, I know of no game warden that will take the effort to walk out on private land to enforce that, unless you have done something to "really piss him off".

Which is actually a progressive tax, as SS contributions are capped and they for sure will raise the cap by 2% at the same time (if not more), so effectively only a cut for <$100k earners.
