Live Video Stream Of Wisconsin Protests Where Hundreds Of Protesters Rush Wisconsin Capitol, Vastly Outnumbering Security
That didn't take long. Ann Althouse writes: "Meade, who is in the building now, tells me, by phone, that he saw a
window on the Wisconsin Avenue side of the building opened and
protesters entering through that window. He thought it seemed as if someone in one of the Democratic legislators'
offices had opened a window to let them in, and — once they were in —
many doors have been opened all around, and people have streamed into
the building. He says he counted 3 "troopers" — I'm not sure what the
official job title is for these security people — and that they were
absurdly overwhelmed by the crowd." So...Wisconsin is not Cairo?
More:
Meade said that he wasn't afraid that these people would become violent, and indeed many of them looked happy — or dazed — perhaps out of success in taking over the building. He didn't see any damage or dangerous behavior. Meade is taking video of what he is seeing, and I will have that for you later.
AND: Meade said that he didn't see how the security officers could possibly clear out the building and that there was nothing to stop any number of individuals from entering the building right now.
It is unknown if any Republicans were harmed in the making of this mini Cairo.
At least now we know what it takes to pull the average American away from The Jersey Shore...
For those who enjoyed the movie Sliver, here is the livestream of Wisconsin protests:

Obama's goons on the loose.
Yup. The fight is over. Go back to Chicago
Time to go Reagan on them: fire them all!

They can demonstrate as much as they want as long as they keep paying taxes
In the great depression version 1, they invented THE RIOT GUN to get rid of crowds like that.
50 to 100 BUCK SHOTS INTO THAT CROW WOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH TO GIVE THOSE TROOPERS THE UPPERHAND!

WHERE WAS THE NATIONAL GUARD?
I always though Americans where patriots that would be all to willing to shoot down non-patriotic "Americans" who most likely are communists or socialists.
If this where to happen in Iraq, a simple drone would have solved it all.

Looks like nostalgic satire for all the neo-goons.
Well, if that's what it takes so we can watch what's going on without having to listen to that stupid cow droning on and on in her remarkably whiny and irritating lefty voice, it might be worth considering...does she think she looks good in those glasses?
Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico are calling for a no-fly zone over Wisconsin..... :o]
Union bots can you estimate for me how many of these were minimum wage earning scabs hired by the unions to protest? The new union way.
"WHERE WAS THE NATIONAL GUARD?"
Maybe they're in Iraq... We need troops strategically placed there to recover Saddam's WMD's.

Deduct the bill for repairs and cleanup of the capitol building from the teacher's pay, equally.
i see youve been watching fox news...
fox news indeed.
I'm sure the Capitol building has someone on the payroll to do that shit. No fucking way it costs that much.
Fking American democracy in action. It is a circus.
Circus like Circus Maximus with wild beasts and gladiators?
Or circus like: Bozo the Clown?
Indeed, the SEIU rent a thugs can go home.
There is still some meat on the IL carcass on which to nibble.
Look at them...celebrating the right to be parasites....the right to make sure every filthy, stinkn' hard working tax payer cough up what they think they deserve. They act like we work for them. What arrogance...Good lord!
WE DON'T NEED NO STINKN' UNIONS!!!!
"Public" Employees:
http://reason.com/archives/2010/01/12/class-war
Yep SK, perks, pensions, health-care, ridiculous undeserving salaries, shenanigans going on behind the scenes to cover up mismanagement of public funds, public officials/politicians looting the tax payer of every cent they can get away with through subtle covert deceptive tactics, the corruption, lying, cheating and stealing goes on, and on, and on....
We in the private sector have been more than generous to the public sector and we get rewarded by their union thugs and self obsessed politicians making trouble for us by trying to bleed us dry in the midst of an economic collapse. They have been spoiled to the point where their minds have been infected with the sickness of greed and like spoiled children with no boundaries they will have to be punished.

Their review on their performance has just been published....They are definitely over paid! They wouldn't last 2 seconds in the private sector with a performance record like this....

The Problem:
82 percent of US schools may be labeled 'failing'
(AP) – 20 hours ago
“The number of schools labeled as "failing" under the nation's No Child Left Behind Act could skyrocket dramatically this year... the percentage of schools not meeting yearly targets for their students' proficiency in in math and reading could jump from 37 to 82 percent as states raise standards in attempts to satisfy the law's mandates…
The Implications: "The most severe consequences — interventions that could include closure or replacing staff — would be reserved for those schools where students have been failing to improve for several consecutive years.”
The Answer: More Money, More Staff…
(AP): Paul Manna, a professor focusing on education policy at the College of William & Mary, noted…
"There's no way given the resources, the personnel available, to do what would be required, that they'd be able to do it."
Very informative, G-R-U-N-T. Thanks.
We need unions now more than ever, to help counterbalance the overwhelming power that monied business interests have purchased and used to legislate away the working man's rights.
Now they can get their "government contracts" that will allow them to steal away our nation's resources and use them to profit only themselves, while paying the true owners of the resource sub-minimal wages to labor in direct conflict to their own interests.
Glad I got that out.
Funny that you don't think "unions" are part of the "monied business interests".
Unions are definitely "monied business interests." Political campaign contributions should be set to the individual limitations. I don't understand why either side (left or right) believes that only their side (unions or corporations) should have more rights than the average citizen.
Because either way the average citizen is always the one that get's the shaft!
Corporations are now people. I'm going to form a corporation and register to vote twice, once in my own name and once in the corporations name. When they deny me, I'm going to sue and site the Supreme Court's recent decision regarding campaign contributions. Corporations are a group of individuals who may exist in the physical sense as people and in the make believe land of Neo-Conservative bullshit politics as another person. It's good to know the right never betrays the Constititution by dabbling in Judicial Activism.
Oh, I'm sure there is a nice loop hole in the law somewhere that protects Corporations from actually being "treated" as an individual when it comes to the laws of the land. Otherwise some media hungry lawyer would have drawn up international murder charges (tying the Fed to the murders that occurred during the civil unrest riots in Egypt, Libya, etc.) against the Federal Reserve AND some felony theft charges against Wall St. banking firms.
With regard to the Unions; I'm not a supporter of what the union stands for today. It is indeed a bloated organization that uses its members as puppets and a bank account for it's officials. If anything, the union officials and any members acting out against the government will be deemed part of a terrorist organization and silenced.

you forgot your /sarcasm flag...and look you were junked because of it.
I am not sarcastic at all.
The sooner people accept that the destiny of every civilized country is to become a Welfare state, the better.
Very soon, our President Dr. Barack H. Obama will proclaim a ban on gold and silver ownership, and the indefinite detention of bigot libertarians in FEMA camps. That would be a welcome action.
I am not usually in favor of violent actions, but the people standing in front of progress (like bigot libertarians) must be stopped by all means.
Thank you! Laughing once again.
I’ve dreaded to wake up to the morning newspaper after every election since I’ve been old enough to vote to check how much more of my money the majority has voted itself, and they can’t stand one partial loss over all these years without tearing down the capital. God help us all.
good point JR
it's always the leftist whiners that get violent first
conservatives take a while because they have brains & know that once it gets started shit gets broke and SOMEONE HAS TO PAY FOR IT
When they outlaw PM's (real stores of value) will you sit by and protest non-violently? What about the teabaggers who brought guns to an anti healthcare rally?
Thanks for the laugh hammy.
Haha..well said, sir.
Doesn't mean it has to be tolerated.
man you have really reached a new low.
When are you libertarian cousins of the knuckle-dragging right going to figure out that it's not the scary "socialists" that threaten your future but the right-wing authoritarians (aka fascists)?
Human civil liberties are far more important than your fictitious "free markets," you impudent, arrogant morons.

lol...oh wait, you're serious. LOL. Always entertaining to read the 'deep thoughts' of a socialist who thinks he knows what libertarians are about. There's your arrogance.

I noticed the Dow futures are down 150+ since the WI vote. How do you explain that?
Those who labels others with whom they disagree with as bigots should look in the mirror to see the true face of their label.
It's almost as if people aren't familiar with the definition of the word.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer quote
There don't appear to be any arrogant & ignorant libertarian/libertopian fools with the stones to respond to this. Either they think their gated community/country bumpkin estate will protect them from the fascists, or... they are the fascists and don't even know it.
No, as a matter of fact, we're all simply going to move to Galt's Gulch.
Move. Take the other libertopians with you. You won't be missed.
The difference with the Bonhoeffer quote and those Cheese Brains in WI is that the consequesnce was being hauled off to a concentration camp vs. doing the right thing and paying a fair share. Leave it to the left to re-write history. Les biches!

Spring in America will be defined by two words: General Strike. What has sprouted in Wisconsin, will soon find root in Illinois, Ohio, and New Jersey, and then in California.

Sorry for o/t but the china surprise trade deficit is getting little news. Largest in seven years. Futures down hard. Story Tyler?
Asia markets down, too. Wohoo!
zerohedge shows its conservative to a fault readership on the loose. the unions are not the enemy. why should austerity be balanced on the backs of middle america when it is the international corporations and big banks which have looted the country? people around the world are revolting against the corrupt bankers which are often discussed on this blog, but the libertarians here and elsewhere are just oh so uncomfortable with the protests. oh the hordes want to take my money! obama's goons! etc. obama works for wallstreet. these people have nothing to do with wallstreet. but then again asking americans to understand such things is probably too much.
Plenty of hired guns on the thread.
I would guess that to be true, considering the low cost of manufacturing consent in the social media era, but it would be a mistake to underestimate the orgasmic appeal of scapegoating to the frustrated and ignorant per se, imo. Beck, widely recognized as a malignantly sick man by most people, nonetheless has 1.75M regular viewers whom I doubt are being paid.
The truth is far uglier than we would wish.
Bob, stuck in stalin's pajama's still I see.
you have a fetish with G Beck..perhaps you could post a position or statement of Beck's that is verifiable as to if he even said it- not a second hand report..and then tell us all what it is you find so ugly??
having strongly held views is not enough on ZH without some verifiable data to back them up.
your statement: "Beck, widely recognized as a malignantly sick man by most people,"
I hardly even think of Beck and as one of the posters here on ZH I wonder who are these "most people" you refer to..data please
or stop with the ad hominem statements.
Do your own research. If you're so woefully uneducated that every statement requires footnoting, you have a great deal of catching up to do.
Perhaps your time would be better spent taking care of that than channelling Joe McCarthy and Beck.
"Do your own research"
Bob you are classic..make a very damaging statement about someone you dislike (beck it seems) but have nothing at hand to support it.
I guess I should have just let you blather away your style such as taxes on corp's reveal all too much about your depth of thinking..ruled by your bias not by facts.
I see you are still proselytizing your ignorance. Which is your right.
You should stop pretending to want facts, though. It makes you look like a troll.
Deuces.
They want links. But when you give them links they still don't believe it. Fools they were and fools they are. They can't see and they can't hear, yet there you are right in front of them speaking. We live in a country full of people who cannot see and cannot hear and the sad part about is, that this will never get better. For those who have made it through, my congratulations and at the same time my condolences. It must be said, the knowledge brings with it, reality. Truth is both a blessing and curse.
Amen. And may God help us.

idiots. This doesn't help anyone doing this. Problem, reaction, sollution. They wouldn't know liberty if it hit them in the face.

When are you going to send me the money you owe me?
In the name of efficiency and a Larger, more improved Govt, we're Nationalizing your job too! We're the Govt, and we're here to help you.
What is this all about? Some spoiled government workers? Listen pal, they get money from my enemy. Therefore that makes them my enemy too. They are the modern day torries and to me, I could care less what they want and if their proverbial ox gets gored.
.....and if the "food bowl" is ever taken away??? Then what?
LMAO, is this not the best site on the net or what. Maadison Raadison, for some reason I like saying that.
LOL I was just thinking the exact same thing, then read your comment.
is this not the best site on the net or what.
Regretfully, I'm not so sure anymore.
There was a time when I was convinced it was, but starting about a year ago I began to loose my faith in this place - just about the time this site started offering bizarre libertarian catnip on a daily basis. Suddenly, all the coin, gun and doomer goons infiltrated the place and completely changed the tone around here. From what I observed, ZeroHedge became less educational, less impartial and less concerned with the "truth" and more about pushing some sort of cult-like, doomer libertarianism at the expense of credibility. Unfortunately, every post is laced with cynicism, laundered through the "government is evil" wash cycle, then neatly folded atop the libertarian groupthink pedestal - like a ready-made, pre-spun libertarian talking point....no thinking required. If it isn't cynical or anti-government or apocalyptic, it isn't posted. Even penny stock pumpers are defended if they offer the right libertarian video message.
I say this after reading all the cynical anti-union bullshit in the past 48 hours from the ZH authors and the comments section. If there was ever a chance at challenging the plutocrats of this country, the unions would have best shot at empowering the little guy. Yet the cynical libertarians dragging their knuckles around here hate them too. Libertarians seem to hate the entire spectrum of society: the owners of this country (the top), the laborers of this country (the middle), and the poor/down trodden (the bottom). Everyone but themselves and those encircled in the same echo chamber are ridiculed daily. From the plutocrats to the poor, and even unions representing teachers and police officers, libertarians hate them all. To be honest, I never realized how bitter, resentful, cynical, bigoted, hateful and goofy libertarians were until I saw their true colors among these pages.
If anyone wants to read the best website on the net, simply click on the following link. It is the old ZeroHedge, where the articles were sharp and witty and devoid of libertarian spite.
http://zerohedge.blogspot.com/
Good comment. The commentators on this blog who want to depict these protestors as being motivated by greed, blood lust, etc. are clueless. The protests are one of the most inspirational things I have seen in America in decades. These protests are everything that the Tea Party pretended to be (and may have been initially) before it became just another tool of big money (and funders like the Koch Brothers). The protest two Saturdays ago on the 12th day of protests was likely bigger than any individual Tea Party protest.
It's ironic that the Tea Party may end up being the catalyst for a what hopefully will be the genuine uprising of middle America, and one whose agenda is not hijacked by billionaires such as the Koch brothers.
Of course none of this fits in with any of the current political calculus. The Democrats are clueless because this uprising occurred without their involvement or leadership.
Make no mistake, these "protesters" are mad because the conductor of the Gravy Train is throwing them out into the cold, cruel world! Welcome to the working week!
Those people get up every morning and put in an honest day's work. They should be paid an honest salary and collective bargaining should be an essential right towards negotiating that salary. Well paid public employees are one of the few bastions of the middle class left. Maybe your house fire could be extinguished by a Mexican immigrant fireman for cheaper... Oh no, you probably hate those people too. Budget priorities should beamong other things, to defund the military and maintain well paying jobs for honest working people...and I am self employed!
Any assault against the plutocracy is a positive development.
Two insightful posts. It's sad that the Tea Party did not hold to its inspiration . . . though I don't recall they had ever turned their full attention to the bankster oligarchy, they had a hell of alot of passion and promise.
Aww, somebody doesn't like libertarians.
FB, I am conflicted here. The only thing I detest more than public employee unions is the decision of the oligarchs to rule by dictate. We need people passing up American Idol to take over statehouses to press the point that we aren't going to lay down and be run over and (unfortunately) this is the first instance we get. Its kinda like seeing your ex-wife driving your new Porsche off a cliff. Exhilarating, with a tremendous sense of loss.
"kinda like seeing your ex-wife driving your new Porsche off a cliff. Exhilarating, with a tremendous sense of loss."
LOL.... Love is such a funny thing.
Choose the people, always.
i totally agree. i love ron paul but the whole tea party crowd that sees evil socialists hiding under every tree is really sad. grow up and realize the unions are not the enemy here.
If the unions aren't the enemy; why do they keep acting like one?
(Disclaimer: Member of union; disappointed in the "leadership's" behavior)
Our work, or Your guns: Choose one, you cannot have both!
If you still want to support a Leviathan Govt, then please feel free to pay my taxes as well -- Big Brother wants to shoot me or throw me in jail -- perhaps he's just playing favorites...
Mussolini envisioned a nation where Government and Corporations were equal partners. What we have is a Government that has been bought outright by Corporations.
Your taxes would be considerably lower if you weren't carrying the burden for corporations that pay virtually none.
bob, once again you throw out opinion as fact.
"Your taxes would be considerably lower if you weren't carrying the burden for corporations that pay virtually none. "
corp revenue from selling a product..cost of said product is labor, materials, and taxes on manufacture of same..consumers of the product pay the overhead and costs..as such a corp is just a pass thru entity of the taxes to you the consumer..but I think you knew that, you just cannot grasp concepts and implications very well ..
Good gosh, I must have forgotten my Econ 101. Or perhaps there was more to learn in the remaining 27 credit hours that complicated things. Your childish understanding of the shell game brings tears of nostagia to my eyes.
You clearly are invested a hundred and ten percent in your own ignorance. May it continue to enjoy the returns it deserves.
(other) Bob,
It's not like multi-national corporations are reaping record profits from outsourcing. Taxes would cut into those record profits and would be horrible for the average person in this country. (sarcasm).
boddyr, that we can agree on: but you of course know your talking TARIFFS..not taxes.
I think the argument can be made that the unions are actually part of the corporate oligarchy. I am all for fairness and "workers rights", but to say unions are pro-worker is naieve at best. Particularly unions for public sector workers--who arguably have some of the most insulated positions around.
.02
Public workers get unjustly fired frequently.
think you miss the boat. Zh is all about bringing the truth, I think that is more than evident. If I had to guess I would also say they have no "libertarianism" slant towards their news. Money rules this planet. Corporate oligarchy is the enemy of the human race. Companies like GS, JPM and Monsanto care none about the progression of human evolution nor do they give two shits about the natural resources of this planet. We are close to the endgame, in fact I seriously doubt many even realize how close we were to the endgame in 2008. Civilizations rise and fall. It has nothing to do with republican, democrat or libertarians and everything to do with credit, debt and money.
Looks as if many of the 'noisy' political comments get junked regularly. I come here for economic stats, witty or insightful comments, and what I hope is a chance to see behind the curtain of TPTB (which I consider the Corporatocracy Class). No matter the path one sees as a 'fix' to the peoples of the world's problems - one day, when the situation is dire enough and said people hit the streets, a realization will wash over the crowd that they have the same interests in mind (talking about the US since other countries don't seem to have huge hang ups about protesting).
If you and your neighbors were facing a catastrophe, do you stop and ask them their political beliefs before offering or accepting help?
Regardless of a slight bend once in awhile towards the soap box or pulpit, the problem is getting people to become aware of things other than the Main-stream-media, mindless consumerism, and facebook games and actually DISCUSS issues and the future. ZH is a good start.
/stepping-off-teeny-tiny-soapbox
Mark McGoldrick, your nostalgia is not entirely misplaced, but as someone who was at the "old ZH," I recall very clearly that the now-explicit and omnipresent confusion about "socialism" was always present. Go back and read the Cliff Assness posts on medical care to confirm.
It's too bad that no editorial clarification of political-economic concepts ever occurred, but the present prevalence of political content seems to me simply to reflect the diminishing relevance of financial variables. The fundamental corruption of the entire economic system has--in the absolute absence of the Rule of Law--ripened to the point where the society itself is now coming apart. Not surprising, really.
The problem is, imo. that we have a nation able to only think in terms of "socialism" and "capitalism." The finance community has a pronounced affinity for the latter (though neither actually exist) and when things fall apart are reduced to fighting the only enemy they can wrap their heads around: socialists.
When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
They're merely pounding that nail. It's delusional, but it doesn't make the hammers any less real. Welcome to America during the collapse of "capitalism."
All that remains is whether the oligarchs keep their gains or not.
Go then. Go wear your chains and wear them proudly.
Pitchforks sharpened and ready?
It's hillarious to watch religious zealots attacking their holy shrines!
that's good...can I use that?
Yeah, I have a couple of spares over by my reloader.
You junked my reloader? I can't even fathom that one.
Not me...I've been runnin' around telling that joke.
Oh, not you. I meant the random junker. Must be a child of the 70's...reminds me of streakers.

Putting any politics aside for a moment...
Isn't there some kind of law against this kind of stuff?
Why aren't arrests being made??
Cause the cops are union thugs too. Laws do not apply to Obummer, the Fed, Democrats or union thugs. They do apply to little people aka taxpayers.
