the building. He says he counted 3 "troopers" — I'm not sure what the
official job title is for these security people — and that they were
absurdly overwhelmed by the crowd." So...Wisconsin is not Cairo?

Meade said that he wasn't afraid that these people would become violent, and indeed many of them looked happy — or dazed — perhaps out of success in taking over the building. He didn't see any damage or dangerous behavior. Meade is taking video of what he is seeing, and I will have that for you later.
AND: Meade said that he didn't see how the security officers could possibly clear out the building and that there was nothing to stop any number of individuals from entering the building right now.
It is unknown if any Republicans were harmed in the making of this mini Cairo.

BREAKING: Wisconsin Voters Launch Recall Campaign Against Eight GOP State Senators http://thinkprogress.org/2011/03/02/wisconsin-recall-2/ Wisconsin law allows any elected official who has served at least one year of their current term to be recalled from office. Today, a group of Wisconsin voters took the first step towards invoking this recall process. Under Wisconsin law, supporters of this recall effort now have 60 days to collect an amount of signatures “equal to at least 25% of the vote cast for the office of governor at the last election within the same district or territory as that of the officeholder being recalled.” The amount of signatures necessary to trigger a recall will vary from district to district, but will range from about 15,000 to 21,000 signatures per recalled senator. If the supporters succeed in collecting enough signatures, the result is an effective “do over” election.
Wisconsin just elected a Tepublican senator, Johnson, over a relatively independent Dem, Feingold. I doubt that cheeseheads are now going to all of a sudden elect Dems again. It will be entertaining to watch.
As 44 million eat using foodstamps, 25 million are unemployed/underemployed, 50 million have no health care and 40 million live below the povery level, the media is fixated on those who have good wages, good beenies, good pensions and decent working condiditons. I'm sure that most of the 24 million unemployed/underemployed would be hapy to take those WI jobs without collective bargaining.

I'm in SoCal. Had an oppty to join the Purple Shirts a couple years ago, and make 40% more money doing less technically complex work, like helping helpless users who can't print and can't put forth the effort to figure out how to put toner in a fucking printer, because it's not their job.
The only building going on here involves lavish glass and steel county/city first responder buildings (To tell us it is going to rain, that hills are on fire, or that there was an earthquake! Really?). Oh, and the brand new hotels to house the contractors shipped in to do the jobs that the fucking Purple Shirts cannot, or will not do themselves.
I contracted out to these jackwads for over 18 months. Just in the IT department, one guy went out on disability (full pay, tax free), another drew Japornime on his fucking computer all day, a third walked around with an EMPTY cup of coffee in his hand, pretending to drink it, and asking for documentation on our plan to plan. Still another kept blabbin about property with zero down was his golden ticket. The waste is appalling, and discredits those in the public sector who really do put their lives on the line.

This works great, until the people in the private sector are sick of paying taxes, and are sick of having to actually perform to avoid layoffs, who are sick of competing in the market place, and are sick of supporting people who don't have to do any of those, revolt.
Sure you might have a majority of people being bribed to go along to get along, but it doesn't matter, when you minority is paying for it all. They are the ultimate source of money, and without them, you can't bribe the public workers.
