A good compilation of the dead end America finds itself in, how we got there, and one possible interpretation of where we may be going, via Michael Cembalest of JPMorgan.

Just print the money and quit issuing debt.  Why all the fuss?

Print and we can all be happy, and Congress and the president can go home.  Just let those in government print whatever they need.

This is indeed the only logical conclusion of quantitative easing.

If QE is without negative consequences, because 1 Money = 1 Value, then we should be able to do more QE in order to repay the debt very easily, right? Why bother paying it with sweat and blood, when you can do it with cotton-linen?

But maybe Bernanke is not convinced himself about the real consequences of QE.

There's a lot of money to be made off wars, and they can go on forever when you have a currency printing press. Is it any wonder our nation has crumbling infrastructure and an ever-increasing number of people on food stamps? All we've done is stir up a hornet's nest in predominantly Muslim nations and thereby "invite" more terrorists to cross our southern border, only 15% of which is sealed. Is this really a war on terror? If so, why do we prevent Arizona from securing its border with Mexico? Something is very wrong here. I suspect the motive is money, money, money for certain people who can never have enough of it -- even if it means the unnecessary spilling of untold quantities blood and destroying our nation's middle class, which has to pay the freight for this abomination.

"They" don't want the money for themselves ... "they" just want to make sure that you don't have any! That way you will be easier to "manage". ("They" is TPTB, not the opportunists who are each helping themselves while the getting's good).

The predominant meme is of the greedy banker, greedy capitalist, greedy bureaucrat, greedy unionist, etc. But the truth is that "the system", as we knew it, is being taken down and the middle class is now quickly being stripped bare of any vestiges of independence (ie. potential resistance) in the interests of a centrally planned global government.

Exactly.

They want to crush the middle class, and confiscate three to four generations of assets.

Here's the kicker:  after they confiscate the middle class' wealth.  The problems will still remain.  Then TPTB will turn on themselves and use everyone else as pawns in their struggle.  I guess I mean war.

"The problems will still remain.  Then TPTB will turn on themselves "

No ... and no.

"The problems" will disappear with the disappearance of the dollar -- then TPTB will have no problems (what debt?)! The people, on the other hand, will have just one problem: how to survive the plantation.

Once they have picked the middle class clean, there will only be 2 classes remaining in America under the European rulers (in IMF, WTO and other UN 'branches of government') -- wealthy functionaries and serfs (on food stamps and various other 'government' handouts).

Tue, 04/12/2011 - 09:59 | 1161346 Bicycle Repairman
Bicycle Repairman's picture

Wrong again.  TPTB will keep their fiat-based, leveraged banking system, and the problems will continue.  Once you've bled the serfs dry, you'll have to look elsewhere for blood.  And with all of the useless serfs hanging around, there will be only one use for them.

Hard to imagine something so sobering and dire from a major US bank. Thanks! We need to hear the truth. Heaven knows the politicians won't tell us!

This is going to make the Great Depression seem like a Sunday picnic!

Thank God the House went Republican. If it hadn't, then we'd really be up shits creek.

Massive, unprecedented spending cuts are coming. Americans are crazy, good crazy, but we are by no means fools.

Even the layperson knows now that government spending must be radically cut.

If nothing is done by the next years Presidential election, we'll throw Obama out too and replace him with a fiscal conservative/realist.

Give the American people a little more credit, we love our country and we aren't going to let the elected elite destroy it, no matter what.

And we know it's serious.

curtis, time to wake up ..no one is going to stop the elite from the very profitable raping of the American people. and those who I talk with do not think this is even an issue.

but you know that.

Curtis LeMay's picture

Nonsense.

There's a difference - a big one - between screwing over and raping, you know..

No, it's true. If Obama & Co. don't radically cut spending - FOR WHATEVER REASON - come next election, he's out and a fiscal realist will be put in his place.

American's aren't suicidal, overmedicated, and we certainly are now sufficiently roused to keep a far closer eye on Uncle Sam's spending.

If the budget/deficit matter is not resolved by Autumn 2012, Americans are certainly going to do something about it.

I am not talking about the ultra-technical (for the layperson) crap that goes on, the market rigging/lying/fraud/money printing madmen - and which Tyler expounds about in great detail, and does a super job at. I am talking about bottom line stuff, and Americans can certainly see the dangers of the umpteen trillion deficit we have right now, and we are not going to stand for it any longer - regardless of the rest.

LOL.  TPTB want to cut certain items from the budget.  Namely the ones that empower people and don't empower them.  You, sir, will be nothing more than a useful idiot to them.

The "bottom line stuff" IS the "market rigging/lying/fraud/money printing".

Wake up dear sir.

PS: It ain't "ultra technical". It's basic counterfeiting.

How dare people call stealing an entitlement.

You are entitled to your natural inalienable rights. Those are individual rights which dont impose an obligation on others. For example your right to free speech does not impose an obligation that i listen.

Treating theft as "entitlement" makes parasites think they are owed the fruits of the labor of others.

A natural right cannot impose an obligation on another. You are not allowed to force me to labor for your personal benefit in an enlightened system.

Eventually this entitlement mentality will be replaced by personal responsibility or we will cease to be a.vigorous economy and become a backwater.

"I'll assume you are what you appear to be: just another neo-con flunky."

No ... he appears to be a voluntarist. If you are going to attach labels, at least study up on how to attach them to the right bicycles.

In any event, the neo-cons started in the Democratic [Entitlements] party, then jumped ship to the Republicans to continue growing under Tricky Dicky's presidency. The neo-cons are party-less (they have horses in both races).

""The U.S. could fund the entitlement shortfall by doubling the 15.3 percent payroll tax on employers and employee"

If anyone says anything so absurd, just stop reading or listening, beause obviously the person saying this does not understand how the monetary system works.  Taxes don't pay for anything, taxes are a way for the govt to regulate spending power(control the amount of dollars out there, THAT'S IT.  For a company like JP Morgan to print this garbage is either sad or scary.

This article is pure agit-prop.  For one thing (and their are at least a dozen shortfalls) there is the need to seperate out the various "entitlements" and how they are funded.  In general any "entitlement" that provides medical services is completely bust and will remain that way until America's medical care oligarchy is reformed.
