The Madness Of A Lost Society

Tyler Durden's picture

The following video is a must watch 4 minutes of content that will never be seen on mainstream TV. Some jarring images of what US society has unfortunately devolved to. As the narrator says: "This is what a dumbed-down, morally bankrupt, completely broken society looks like, and this is how it behaves. No outrage over the bankers raping them, no outrage over their gutted industry, no outrage over their plundered dollar. Just blind, wanton stupidity. Just bread and circuses."

Far too melodramatic and inaccurate:

The "mystery missile" was an airliner contrail. The specific flight was even identified and its contrail seen on GOES weather satellite images.

The _umpteenth_ direct military exchange between N and S Korea is NOT bringing the world to the brink of war any more than the umpteen other incidents have.

The boy's father removed his shirt without being told to do so, not the TSA agent.

Some in the world are making noises about leaving the dollar, but that's all they are, noises. They're stuck with it for the foreseeable future.

There's _plenty_ to expose, but it should be done accurately. This video is by someone who only pays attention to the superficial news headlines and doesn't investigate futher.

You make a good point, but it's only the over the top drama that gets three to five seconds of a typical American's attention.  Perhaps if they had added clips of pit bull fighting, an ultimate fighter match, and a 3-car fatal accident they would attract additional viewers.

America invented Twitter (conversations < 140 characters) Headline News (20 second snippets of complicated world news), Executive Summary services (because reading is hard), Cosmetic surgery (because image is everything and work is hard), etc.  We are a nation that likes entertainment, not philosophy, contempation, or addressing problems.

Seriously?  You focus on minor details that are mostly irrelevant to the message being conveyed.  Also, you make a lot of false and fallacious statements.

TSA agents feel childrens' genitals in airports, and you focus on the fact that the child took his shirt off prior to said child being physically assaulted.

The simple fact is nobody knows if korean military conflict will lead to a world war.  Did people know a small action would lead to WWI or WWII?  Not until it did.

A shift in a reserve currency takes a long time to take place.  It is a trend that has already started with China and other countries changing the currency they trade in.

I've been several times to the National Cemetery in Little Rock.  It is known locally as the Confederate Cemetery.  There are small white grave markers as far as the eye can see over the knolls.  From the Civil War to those who died last week.  It is a somber place.  I've put a link to the Google view for those who'd like to walk with me.  The actual site will make the hardiest warrior weep.

i post things about George Orwell and Aldous Huxley and then people write me angry e-mails and ask me if something is wrong with me... lol... i just had to write 3 this morning for "people whom are concerned with my well being"

i guess society loves where were at so much or are so lazy to have to educate themselves to have to do something about it that they rather attack someone who brings about another way of looking at things rather than deal with the reality of the situation.. which is actually a scarier scenario in my opinion...

The average us citizen by age 21 has spent approximately 60% of waking hours in public school or watching tv.  Do you expect much else from them?  I know how frustrating it is though, I have the same experiences.  Accepting the truth you discuss would be accepting that they are slaves who have been indoctrinated and programmed into believing they are free for their entire lives.  I would suggest that figuring out the truth would be comparable to fear of death.  Psychological research shows such feelings drive people to believe falsities even more.

Young? I'm 47. Just another example of your inaccurate perceptions.

If you knew anything about history you'd know that the Nazis were done for when Hitler left an injured but undefeated Britain at his rear and turned to attack the USSR. The Soviets did the heavy lifting in the defeat of Hitler's armies and would have prevailed whether the US became involved or not. The bonuses in that scenario would be that Stalin would have been virtually bled dry by the war's end and also there would have been no invention of nuclear weapons at that time.

War just gets you more war. Always.

The only people who recognize (or care about) a LV, Coach or other obscene namebrand "status" thingie are other people who are consumed with the same problem.  In essence, it is wanna-be's showing off to other wanna-be's in a sad, hedonistic game of lowering one's self-esteem.  The rich who buy this stuff could care less if someone else has it too.

Sorry to sound mean... but I fight this same battle against some of my family.  It sickens me in a way that I cannot find words.  To me, it is the ultimate consumer brainwashing to have been convinced that spending upwards of a mortgage payment on a purse is something worthy and will somehow make a person more "complete."  Hope you can show your daughter a better way before she lives to regret such decisions.

It seems to me that a lot of the footage of this video is taken from the Private Putin Cable Network of RT... if anyone with half a brain tuned in to RT network on cable for more than 30 seconds, they would immediately notice that the Soviet Propaganda machine is alive and thriving.

Not all Americans are like the people in this video... only the undeducated and unenlightened... ask yourself why all of the people in this video are all overweight... same underpinning reason... their belief that hapiness can be "bought" and that "more is better than less".

Just remember that many, many more Americans chose not participate in Black Friday... only a small percentage of Americans allowed themselves to become cattle for slaughter.

In the long run, LESS IS BETTER THAN MORE.

But what do I know... I am just a Dick Weed.

Amen.  Fewer things of higher quality is the way.  Translates into an easier life too in so many ways.  Materialism... some primal hoarding mechanism... has been tapped over the last couple of decades.  Eventually, society self-reinforces the principle.  The "Joneses" becomes everyone's neighbor.

Without a strong ethnic, national or religious identity, consumerism and consumer-group identities are all that's left. See hipsters or punks or goths or skaters.. All consumer groups with their own brands, their own media and carefully built identities. None have the slightest care as to the health of out-groups.

Then there are the masses. They know nothing but what is presented to them via the TV. Whatever the TV wants, they do. It is disgusting. The masses - the consumers - will be a very dangerous group when consumption is no longer possible.

"It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society."  Check out this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwG0s2iuD6c.  Aside from the people willingly trampling others at the beginning, look at how the crowd sworms an employee moving a pallet full of Oster brand nothings at 4 minutes in.  They surround the guy and begin inspecting what he's moving, mulling the decision to take what he has... then it appears one person's grab initiates an all out feeding frenzie.  Don't want to miss out on that deal, regardless of needing it or not.

Question: Does a dog stop eating when he's full if you spill his food to the floor?

Us wolves never feel sorry for the sheep. Its their job to remain healthy, and its our job to eat them, whats the big deal?...No wolf wants to eat a diseased sheep, so keep em happy and working so to be able to chase shiny, useless things. And WE determine which "shiny, useless things" they must buy this year.

The book of Revelation predicted what we are seeing take place in the USA.

Revelation 13:11-18;

11 Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. 12 It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. 13 And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people. 14 Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. 15 The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. 16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.

18 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man.[e] That number is 666.

Isn't this activity to be expected in a situation where people do not have enough money to pay for the items they want/need and the sellers offer them at much cheaper than usual prices?  And, if there are limited items for sale, then wouldn't that exacerbate the running of the pigs?  Shouldn't we encourage people not to pay regular retail prices for items?

I'm more curious about what the people did who didn't get the door busters...  did they stay and shop and buy stuff at regular price?

Agreed.  Strategically, Iraq invasion was obvious, oil.  Afghanistan, Taliban, my ass.  Look at the bases and their strategic locations.  It is obvious the US is surrounding China from the north while driving a wedge between China and Russia.  Militarily we could take either, but combined, that is another story.  Not that this is going to happen soon, yet if one knows the logistics of air defense, those bases are approximated perfectly.
