Mark Madoff, Bernard's Son, Hangs Himself
AP reports that Marc Madoff, the son of Bernie, was found hung in his apartment. While it is early to speculate into the causes of death, it is a distinct possibility that the recent pick up in activity by Irving Picard may have some impact. Then again, as lately the big banks have been on the receiving end of Picard's actions, there does seem to be a disconnect, unless of course Mark had incriminating evidence against some of the recently high profile defendants such as JPM and HSBC. Keep in mind that Bernie turned himself in as a means to protect his children and family, or so went the official story.

A law enforcement official tells The Associated Press that a son of Bernard Madoff has been found dead in New York City of an apparent suicide.
The official says Mark Madoff was found hanged in his Manhattan apartment.
A family member notified police around 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
The official spoke to the AP on the condition of anonymity because he wasn't allowed to speak publicly about the case.
Mark Madoff and his brother, Andrew, were under investigation but hadn't faced any criminal charges in the massive Ponzi scheme that led to their father's jailing.

Well if Madoff is a true sociopath, he will feel no sadness or remorse in the way we feel it. These people are not like you and I, which is why they do the despicable things they do. Perhaps he did love his son. I have no clue and hope that would be the case but from what I have learned, any tender emotion that a sociopath reveals is likely an act. You are correct about sociopaths. They have no conscience and can do anything without remose. An excellent book about sociopathic behavior is The Sociopath Next Door by Martha Stout. It is estimated that 1 in 25 people does not have a conscience. People often associate not having a conscience with being a murderer or serial killer, but not all sociopaths are killers. They want what they want. Some want wealth, some want power, etc.
There are very, very few who are "pure" sociopaths to the point of lacking all capacity for attachment and care. It tends to be unstable and limited in number of attachments, but it is almost always there.

Reminds me of when Enron executive Clifford Baxter was found dead in his car. His family never believed the finding that he committed suicide. He had argued vehemently with Skilling about the accounting gimmicks with off-shore vehicles. He was a threat to blow the lid off the whole game. His family said he was angry and trying to protect himself. Next thing you know, gee, he is found with a bullet in his head and a suicide note next to him.
