Market Celebrates Just Announced Record Foodstamp Usage By Closing At 2010 Highs

Tyler Durden's picture

For those seeking a perfect explanation of what is happening in United Banana States of America right now, then look no further: the just released September Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program data is out and we are happy to report that the number of poor Americans has never been higher - SNAP recipients just hit a fresh all time high of 42.9 million. Naturally, the market celebrates the record number of poor Americans by closing at 2010 highs. No long-winded, somnolent essays, no rants, just observations. These two facts explain everything that is happening in this unrecognizable banana republic. Now that is a five year banana plan you can believe in.

To American Woman:

Today your government treasury spend the money for Big Bailout.

Tomorrow your man out of work.

My name is Igor Fulminov. I own new web site called “Treasury Babes”.

You come and post profile today. We find you strong Russian man with good job. The only bailout he need is to get out of jail after big night with vodka. You come. Post profile. We find you real man. No Wall Street “?????? vi” here.

Here’s a testimonial from Suzie M.— another satisifed Treasury Babes client:

“I posted my profile on Treasury Babes and I received the following email from Boris only 3 days later:

‘American Woman. My name is Boris. I live in Sverdlosk. How much do you weigh?’

“And our romance blossomed from there….My man Boris is very successful Russian business man. He owns many night clubs. He is very busy, so I only get to see him once a week. But the good news is that I get to be a ‘hostess’ in one of his clubs! I have a steady job, which I’m told pays a good salary. [Boris knows how much American women love to shop! shop! shop! so he keeps my money for me.]

“Since Boris does not want me to live alone, I share a flat with 6 other Treasury Babes. Our place is really cozy—–it’s one room with a big bathroom at the end of the hall that we get to share with other residents of our building. I’ve gotten to know my flat mates so well. And I just love it that I’m not a “tourist”, but that I’m living the real, authentic Russian Experience!

“And here’s one more plus to being a Treasury Babe—I’ve lost A LOT of weight!!!! Yaaayy me!

“Posting my profile on Treasury Babes was the best decision of my life! Thank you Treasury Babes!”

See, American Woman—we have many satisified clients. You come and post today. If you are a hefty American Woman—no worries. Go to our sister site—FED Babes—whose motto is “No Skinny Bitches”. It’s ideal for the plus sized American Woman.  And for your erotic adventures, be sure to check out Stimulus Babes.

The prosperity dichotomy.  We are rich not because of our productive capacity, but because of our borrowings.  Too bad we can't create commodities in the same way we create debt instruments.

Not true.

CDNN sells gun PARTS, and I think what you were looking at is an AR upper assy for $699? Build a complete gun, and youre looking at $1,400 easy, no add on parts.

Hell you can hardly find a bare bones 1911 .45 these days for under $700.

There are still deals.  Saw a bushmaster .308 (AR style) a few weeks ago for 799+ tax.  Came ORC so have to buy optics for it but most people do that anyway.

Love 1911 but would not buy one now.  Springfield XDM (glock clone) is cheaper (low 600), better ammo capacity.  Good 1911 can easily tip past 1k now, the Kimbers are insane.

Love my 19 + 1 XDM.

Sub-compact XD is great for around town when I don't want to carry the 4.5".

Most people I know never consider AR-15 pistols; some say it's girly. But if the Brady gun-grabbers knew anything about guns it would likely top the ban list. Concealable (legally with permit in most states), 30 rounds, defeats level III armor. When it comes to a rifle I'm all about the M1A but not so great for every situation. Take the wheel and hand your buddy one of these:

Tell me about it.  I'm sitting on a waiting list for two Remington 1911 R1's.  And when they finally show up, I don't expect to pay 15% off list -- the dealer is going to do what he's done before:  "I can sell these at full price to the next 20 people on the list.  Do you want them or not?"

So I pay up.  And get the rosewood grips.

Just for fun, I thought I'd share this with you. Way back in the late 70s I bought two AR-15s, paratrooper model, and 2000 rounds. In the early 80s I auctioned them off in the cattle pit at the CME and sold them for $1500 each. I made about 500% on the guns and about 300% on the ammunition. Your price is about a cheap as I've seen them since.  Inflation adjusted they are cheaper than the $300 I paid in the 70s; maybe it's time to buy again??

I have to wonder how many guns/ammo were purchased with credit card debt, skipped house payments, IRA early withdraws, 401k loans, etc.

Is the current availability of ammo due in part to buyers running out of money and credit?

There are no genuine "poor" in America, where even the street bums carry cell phones and drink caffe lattes. Income to qualify for food stamps is as high as $60K/year in some places, so people on food stamps are not "poor". They simply don't want to pay for their own food.

Fri, 12/03/2010 - 18:01 | 776804 akak
akak's picture

Out of morbid curiosity, I actually looked into what qualifications to be eligible for food stamps, and they were FAR from what you state or imply.  In fact, one may have a MINIMAL income, but more to the point, one may NOT have more than I think $1500 in total assets, aside from one's home and vehicle!  So all those 40+ million currently on food stamps do not have (much more than) a penny to their name, or any meaningful savings whatsover.  Think about that.

Fri, 12/03/2010 - 18:19 | 776865 -Michelle-
-Michelle-'s picture

Alas, many of those who are not on food stamps do not have much more than a penny to their name or any meaningful savings whatsoever.  They're robbing Peter, paying Paul, and trying to figure out another way to get to the end of the month.

Fri, 12/03/2010 - 18:54 | 776983 cxl9
cxl9's picture

I have no idea what the asset qualifications are for food stamps, so I didn't "state or imply" anything. What I did state, was that income qualifications are as high as $60K per year in some places, which is correct. You may not like it, but that doesn't make it false.

Food Stamp Usage Soars Among Working Families
MARK NIESSE | 10/22/10 04:45 PM (AP)

HONOLULU — Lillie Gonzales does whatever it takes to provide for three ravenous sons who live under her roof. She grows her own vegetables at home on Kauai, runs her own small business and like a record 42 million other Americans, she relies on food stamps.

Gonzales and her husband consistently qualify for food stamps now that Hawaii and other states are quietly expanding eligibility and offering the benefit to more working, moderate income families.

Data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture reviewed by The Associated Press shows that 30 states have adopted rules making it easier to qualify for food stamps since 2007. In all, 38 states have loosened eligibility standards.

Hawaii has gone farther than most, allowing a family like Gonzales' to earn up to $59,328 and still get food stamps.

Prior to an Oct. 1 increase, the income eligibility limit for a Hawaii family of five was $38,568 a year.

"If I didn't have food stamps, I would be buying white rice and Spam every day," said Gonzales, whose Island Angels business makes Hawaiian-style fabric angel ornaments, quilts, aprons and purses.

You stated above that there are no "poor" in America.

You outed yourself as a fool or a tool.

You are a fool.

I said there are no "genuine poor" in America, and there aren't. I lived in America for 40 years and I never met a poor person until I moved to Mexico and encountered true, desperate poverty in some places. And even Mexico is rich by the standards of Africa and much of Asia.

The main points of your reply seem to be:

1. I am a fool.

2. You volunteer somewhere (?) so therefore truly poor people must exist in America.

3. You have met actual (!) mental defectives on the street, and therefore truly poor people must exist in America.

4. I am a fool.

Does that about sum it up?

I'm not sure why it's a "trick" to post the data to back-up my statement that in some areas of American people with incomes of $60K/year qualify for food stamps. Regardless of what the cost of living is in Hawaii, if you believe that anyone, anywhere in America with a $60K/year income is "poor" or should qualify for food stamps, then you and I will simply disagree. But you're certainly entitled to your opinion.

Isn't food expensive in Hawaii because it ALL needs to be shipped in?

I don't think 60k goes that far there.

Matter of fact isn't that the argument against increasing taxes on those making 250k a year? That some places are much more expensive to live in than others.

What the fuck is up with chicks looking like they are from starving nations? Stick legs, no ass and big fake tits.

Gina: I'm finished speaking to both of you okay? You're both fucking insane. You want to know what your problem is? MTV, Playboy, and Madison fucking Avenue. Yes. Let me explain something to you, ok? Girls with big tits have big asses. Girls with little tits have little asses. That's the way it goes. God doesn't fuck around; he's a fair guy. He gave the fatties big, beautiful tits and the skinnies little tiny niddlers. It's not my rule. If you don't like it, call him. Hey Mitch. Thank you.
[Looking at a porn magazine]
Gina: Oh, guys, look what we have here. Look at this, your favorite. Oh, you like that?
Tommy: I could go along with that.
Gina: Yeah, that's nice right? Well, it doesn't exist ok. Look at the hair. The hair is long, it's flowing, it's like a river. Well, it's a fucking weave ok? And the tits, please! I could hang my overcoat on them. Tits by design were invented to be suckled by babies. Yes, they're purely functional. These are silicon city. And look, my favorite, the shaved pubis. Pubic hair being too unruly and all. Very key. This is a mockery, this is a sham, this is bullshit. Implants, collagen, plastic, capped teeth, the fat sucked out, the hair extended, the nose fixed, the bush shaved... These are not real women, all right? They're beauty freaks. And they make all us normal women with our wrinkles, our puckered boobs, hi bob, and our cellulite feel somehow inadequate. Well I don't buy it, all right? But you fucking mooks, if you think that if there's a chance in hell that you'll end up with one of these women, you don't give us real women anything approaching a commitment. It's pathetic. I don't know what you think you're going to do. You're going to end up eighty-years old, drooling in some nursing home, then you're going to decide, it's time to settle down, get married, have kids? What, are you going to find a cheerleader? Charge it Mitch.
Tommy: I think you're over simplifying.
Gina: Oh eat me. Look at Paul. With his models on the wall, his dog named Elle McPherson. He's insane. He's obsessed. You're all obsessed. If you had an once of self-esteem, of self-worth, of self-confidence, you would realize that as trite as it may sound, beauty is truly skin-deep. And you know what, if you ever did hook one of those girls, I guarantee you'd be sick of her.
Tommy: Yeah, I suppose I'd get sick of her after about, what, twenty or thirty years?
Gina: Get over yourself. Thank you Mitch. Say hello to Gertrude.
Tommy: What?
Gina: No mater how perfect the nipple, how supple the thigh, unless there is some other shit going on in the relationship, besides the physical, it's going to get old, ok? And you guys, as a gender, have got to get a grip. Otherwise, the future of the human race is in jeopardy.
Willie Conway: What was that?
Tommy: I don't know, but a great ass.
Willie Conway: Nice tits. Come on let's go.

That's funny.  Yeah, "gold" and "silver" on CBNC are taboo like saying the name "Voldimort" on Harry Potter.

It's ridiculous to watch CNBC hosts avoid PM news.  Silver is up, what, 60% YTD.  And when they must report---albeit briefly---on PMs, they look terribly uncomfortable.

I'm surprised CNBC hasn't removed Gold and Silver spot from rotation in the market data updated at the top of the tv screen.

PMs ramping in line with support on dollar weakness. Asia loves gold, and will spend greenbacks to get it. They will take profits in equities to keep buying gold.

Get ready for a big day tomorrow, no reason not to break resistance at $1400 and then make a clean break to $1420. I think they will give Blythe the day off, she has worked hard for the monie all week.

The word is that the recovery is in place. All the lies will only cast more light on gold, and it will shine. The lies will run around like chickens with their heads cut off. They will run to equities, and we could see 12,000. They will find solace with gold, as even the liar can find shelter in a storm (many times especially the liar).

I didn't see a single liquid ag futures contract that wasn't higher. That latte will cost you more -- SOON! So will baby diapers (CORN starch).

It was a cold Friday morning when the sun cracked over Washington.  Ben had just put on his slippers and was making some coffee.  He grabbed his bottle of Malibu and took a whiff, then he pured a little into his drink.  He walked into the living room he shared with Timmah.  Timmah was crazy eyed from drinking 4 Lokos all night with Orzag.  They had been awake all night.  Orzag hadn't been at the tree house for quite some time.

"Ben, what should we do about the dollar?" said Timmah as he looked up from his PPT video game platform.  Orzog laughed with relief that he no longer had to pretend he had an interest in anything but banking.  "Bang da hoe!"  Blackhawk responded, and he repeated himself with enthusiasm while he pumped his fist holding his mug.  It spilled over as he shook it.  "Bang...da....hoe!!!"

You have QE in Europe and QE in America along with money- pumping in China, QE in Japan, both a yen and dollar carry toward emerging markets and commodities jump.

Bernanke and Trichet have the speculators' backs and M2 is rising as finance gives itself the ammo to buck up crude, gold and silver even as foods take a breather.

This is the 'Niewe Growth', three- card monte- monetizing and bailouts, robbery of Eire and US taxpayers, F/X games and lawbreaking.

So much for working hard, coming up with a new idea, saving your money, starting a business, getting the word out and earning a nice living, supporting your family. All that has been replaced by lies and racketeering, insider corruption and payoffs to politicians.

CNBC and the Wall Street Journal might call this a recovery but it is only if everything that has been said about America and capitalism as the light of the world and the way toward progress and human development is a complete lie.

And what is happening. The Bernank wants everyone to feel richer by pumping up the market. Has it achieved anything? Are people now rushing out buying more because they feel richer? Well it is a lie of course, The Bernank is endeavouring to ensure the top 1% can get their hands on as much of the US assets as it can. Gives Bank Robbery a new meaning. What is the critical mass? What is the social detonator that turns the US into Greece?

The most intersting thing about the US compared to most countries is just about everybody has a gun or two. The potential for a series of lunatic breakdowns and breakouts across the country due to total exasperation must be increasing exponentialy.

I suspect over the past few years the US has bred a whole country load of domestic terrorists, bent on revenge on the 'haves'.

See the related stories on BBC World News. Borders closed to all traffic in and out. Cocoa doesn't seem to have made much of a move out of the range yet though, I'm not too clued up on the supply/demand situation for cocoa, but with commodity inflation look to start up this situation seems like it should result in a move out of the range.

I have gold and hold it. Gold is not easy to trade, and many stocks, retailers for ex. and EM ETFs have done 50-100% year to date. Gold didn't do that (Silver did much better), and stocks fall a lot in corrections, when u can buy the dip:)

Robo really follows the momentum well. And I dont think there is much reason to follow this site daily, if u just buy and hold. It is clear, economy is bad , unemployment will stay high, since a big part of the economy, housing, will never come back to the state in mid 2000s, and the jobs in that industry are gone for good.

Interest rates in US and other developed countries will be real negative for years possibly, and currencies debased, to inflate away the debt. Just hold your gold, until you see a possibility of a rise in interest rates. My goal is to make money timing and trading the market, a household name ANF for example broke above 40 just mid October, and closed over 56 today.Robo was flagging the retailers in those days.
