Market Takes Out 2010 Lows, Jumps On Spike In Stick-Save Volume

Tyler Durden's picture

The S&P just took out 2010 intraday lows set in February. The response was an immediate bounce and a jump in volume as the "counterintuitive" bid steps in to prevent a massive rout, even as the NYSE is still broken. Have fun trading this busted mess.

Maybe it's time to buy the DAX now that all GS' clients have been stopped out.

stock are getting back up. Is this because of the NYSE blackout?

Martial law is issued on Wallstreet. The militairy is setting up camp at the CITI and BAC terminal stations. Snippers are posting in the GS lounge.

For the PPT, it's all hands on deck. They will do WHATEVER is necessary to minimize the damage today. Doubt they can turn it green, but they may bring it into red double digits before the closing bell.

LOL. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Dow close at 10,000.01. Nah, that's too obvious. Maybe 10,001.01

Sorry guys, I was one of those bids.  I'm participating in an masochistic exercise in adding to my long equity exposure in anticipation of a short-term bounce.  Oh, and yes, it is just as painful as when I was repeatedly adding to my short equity exposure during the slo-mo never ending, Feb to Apr meltup preceding this recent drop.

The President needs to seize the assets of BP, HAL, and RIG.  There is no way that these companies can pay for a real cleanup and true economic damages.  Insiders at these companies will be draining everything they can in anticipation of this.

Rumors in d.c. point to respective nationalizations as applicable. The taxpayers of those countries will then foot the bill of the cleanup. Also, all rumors from my friends in Navy and EPA indicate that BP and US have no idea how to fix this, and more disturbing rumors of a sea floor fracture with multiple vents. If this is true, it means there is no solution. It will literally continue to pour out oil for decades, leading to the complete destruction of the gulf coast eventually.

My sources say, that the aliens that watch over us, have put a plan into motion to seal the fissures but, unfortunately, they are leaving it up to us Sol'ers to seal the leaking pipe(s).

You may say, "why have the aliens broken their non-interference oath?" Well it turns out that they love Cajun food and if the fissures will literally continue to pour out oil for decades, leading to the complete destruction of the gulf coast eventually. No more yummies.

Theere is so much going on behind the scenes that sometimes it makes me Lady GaGa.

Regulators are chosen on their willingness to betray America. They have been spectacularly successful in this enterprises for some years. And of course they will still support corruption until the last days when they will make token efforts in order to try and save themselves from the gallows.

Bent cops are anathema to a functioning honest system, and is why they are more hated than the criminals they are meant to stop. We have had every manner of criminal behaviour in the markets for some time...but the regulators...masturbating to porn or trying to run down whistleblowers.

I'm waiting for a big-volume sell-off that will juice the premiums (premia?) briefly and then fade. Will be sellling VIX calls when that happens.

Markets will continue to lower until the banks shakedown Bernanke for QE2 and ECB QE.
Dip buyers will continue to get taught a lesson they will never forget and even permabears will unfortunately get burned buying dips because their psychology has been conditioned by market manipulation. I cannot blame them but regardless the markets will eventually reach new lows.

Meanwhile Obama is preparing a second stimulus package. Zero lesson have been learned from this crisis.

If Obama and the Democrats do a second stimulus they are toast in the Fall elections. It would add fuel to the fire that they are out-of-control clueless lunatics who don't have a clue about what they're doing. There is a political opportunity here to start doing the right things and convince people that they're in charge of the situation (see for instance Gov Christie in NJ). Second stimulus would show cowardice and a lack of leadership.

It's starting to look like they will never let it close below 10,000 ever again.  They don't want Tyler making Dow 10K v3.0 jokes anymore.

I'm hoping it will get to 10,000 intraday then fall apart before the close.  But it's hard to ignore the last 14 months.  It will probably close green today.

Closing green would mean it has to gain over 100 pts in the next 40 minutes. Not likely. I'm not one to try and go long this s*cker just see what happened yesterday before the close.

A close above 10k is not out of the question though. About 50 pts to go.But doesn't look too good at the moment.

I lov you guys, but don't you ever chart stuff out, or recall past histtory. last winter day after day of down. jan to march every time we hit a new bottom we bounced up and then bounced to a lower low. any time the futures open so much lower it is always a buy point for day trading. you reall think if we open 2.5percent plus down we are going to end up much more.  also got to draw the trend.

Hell, when it hits 500 I'll buy it too.
