Marketwide Circuit Breakers Active For Another 2 Hours
Don't fret: the NYSE has it all under control. If the market plunge continues the market will simply close. Better get it in the next 2 hours though.
In the meantime...

LOL... here we go.
LOL that deer gets me every time.
God I love the "Deer In The Headlight" pic everytime
That deer, and the Donkey Kong thing. Future generations will wonder how those made their way into folklore as icons of justice and revolution. Well we will each be able to tell our tiny grandchildren, sitting wide-eyed at our feet, I was there.
I love the fucking Deer dude!
Somebody please shut down the algos so we can just get this over with.
or turn on the algos that hit bids first :)
I think that deer is really The Bernank...
I often wonder what future digital archeologists will conclude when looking through internet logs and how web memes will skew them.
Possibly conclue that Rick Astley was emporor and that society succumbed to the invasion of a species of "trolls" and that we were a war-like yet dainty society because everyone was so tough while simultaneously being "a fag".
Not so funny when you're traveling at 60 mph and you're about 2 seconds from impact.
Even worse when it's a bigger critter like an elk or a moose.
Don't worry if you hit a moose you won't feel a thing :)
Moose are some long-legged animals. But yeah, unless you're in an 18 wheeler, the animal will come up over the hood, through the windshield, and rip the whole top of your vehicle off. Of course, the driver and any passengers are generally ripped apart in the process.
That's such a kind, considerate, spiritually uplifting thought. It hadn't yet dawned upon me today. I am soooooo grateful.
Yup. A ditch is better than hitting something like a moose head on.
Animals with high mass but short legs (hogs) will destroy a vehicle, but at least they will yield a nice BBQ if your in laws can get to you before the cops (assuming alcohol involvement)...

Regards,
Cooter
Yeah - and more often that not their guts burst , drowning the poor sucker in the frontseat.
LOL...I thought "critters" were things like mice and squabbits. Not elk.
In North Idaho, all living organisms are "critters". We even have two-legged critters up here. They can be especially dangerous when trespassing on private property.
Two legged critters trespassing become vermon, then they usually expire from acute lead poisoning.
In North Idaho ...
Wallace, from ages 10 - 13. Some of the best times of my life - crawling through the mountains and delivering newspapers to certain establishments.
moose, noun, a truck with four legs- esp. adept a impacting the passenger compartment of legless vehicles in a fashion similar to a wrecking ball when impacted at high speed.
Western Maine, early December 2006, cheap Korean rental car, snowy two-lane road, 35 mph around a curve, 2 moose ahead, a bull and a cow. If the bull didn't give way, I'd be dead.
In Wisconsin the EMT's running highway accidents refer to the signature of long tire skidmarks meeting a tree as an 'OSH' accident, as in the last sound before the crash being: "Oh shiiiiiii------"
That's not a 'deer in headlights'.
It's a deer in hunter's spotlight. Observe twigs of undergrowth in front of deer.
Moments later, deer probably received bullet between glowing eyes.
The deer is us.
If that deer is in the headlights you better hit the f'ing brakes hard! You're about to eat that tree speedracer.....
This one is infinitely better (sheeple in headlights - they're even tagged):

Some friends of RockyRacoon who didn't get the memo.
lol. Looks like Steven King movie.
The "Rocky Knockers"
Sure, laugh now, but the Raccoon Horde takes no prisoners.
That's what RockyRacoon assures me. I have no doubt he is correct. I had a run in with a hungry and otherwise healthy raccoon when I was younger. I lost big time.......but then again I only had a 20+ to 1 weight advantage.
This dashboard is not the same one used in the Fukushima plant?
+1 LOL
It probably is similar! The only problem with this wave is that it is going down and under, not up and over.
I'm soooo glad I cashed out years ago.
Always good for a laff. Wish a shrink would jump in and say why this pic is so freakin' funny, well, and the market is funny too.
Me too...man, it sets me to jiggling every time I see it.
Because we have all experienced that precise moment of wide eyed frozen in fear realization where the sweat runs cold and the bowels churn. And we are soooo glad we are not experiencing now what so many others are.
You could almost say we are gloating over the "I told you so" moment. But our ego won't let us be too ebullient otherwise it would show us to be nearly as bad as those we skewer for being cold blooded. So we smirk and laugh and point fingers.
Either that or we all like to see a flash-lighted Bambi in the dark.
This morning a girl was talking about secreeting a pipe up her anus.
We should be grateful for what we have.
Buy stocks.
+23.56 just for properly using the word ebullient in a sentence.
You dont need a shrink to tell you why it is so funny. You already know!
Just enjoy.
Dr. Bellilaff here, the retinal reflection of light within the mammalian Family Cervidae, comes from our innate desire....to..... aah, feck it, it's just damn funny.
Hmmm...the retinal reflection is different in different animals (including humans) - due to the fact that the chemical makeup is a bit different with different degrees och metallic ion concentrations.Moose for instance flash bright red - due to higher zinc content in retinal tissue.
Not too very long ago, somebody tried to post this identical picture on some UFO reporting site as a picture of an alien taken by a camera automatically triggered to photograph aliens. At night. Or something.
Damned foreigners.
QE3 QE3 QE3
QE3 QE3 QE3
QE3.....
Lovin the SPY 1000 calls I Bought 2 days ago.
puts?
1000?
Loving the European vacation I booked on June 6th.
Fully hedged, as there are no cancellation charges if the EUR/USD turns around. I feel confident enough to get long Bain de Soleil.
Going to Ireland again in 9 days. Have no idea what to expect this time. Hope we get a rental car.
Maybe O'Bama left 'the Beast' in a shop for repairs there, and they'll give it to u 4 a loaner for a few days...
100 puts.... got little excited by the markets behaving rationally.
Markets will remain closed until peasantry morale is greatly improved.
marketwide selloff, dollar goin apeshit. POG solidly up in most currencies
Am I missing something here? The market is only down 180 points and the EUR/USD spread is only off by 80 pips or so since this morning. This is not what I would call a crash. This is just normal market behavior in the past 3 years. Loses 180 one day and gains it back the next...
Au purchasing power increasing. True alpha currency...?
Tell me again why the bank guys always get the money back?
Edit; "Tell me again why the bank guys always get my money?"
Because the banks are where your money is?
Don't laugh. Facism isn't funny. Bomb Wall Street. Or die in sin of omission.
It was funny in Springtime for Hitler.
Clean-up in the Putsch aisle.
Ben is that you?
I hope waddell and reid doesnt see any video of greece..
And the POMO hasn't even dried up yet!
Don't worry. TPTB will add stagnant water and stir vigorously.......
I shudder to think where we're headed after POMO ends.
Wait a minute..my deer camera shows this...

Thats just Bernake on a day he missed drinking the blood of a baby and free-basing green ink.
YEAH BAYBEEE
i wonder do they have Circuit Breakers for bull market ?
something like that
market up 10% for month, stop trading for week
market up 20% for year, stop trading for month
market up 100% for last 5 year, stop trading for whole year
that would be fun
alx
See "Margin Hike". Its useful when a primary dealer is in over its head in shorts and getting squeezed.
It's called Silver. They come in and dump tons of counterfeit paper silver and then play random margin rate change.
@alexwest
Ha ha ha, I have often wondered that myself. There probably should be circuit breakers for melt ups, lol.
Price goes up, they win.
Price goes down, we lose.
Zero sum game.
(snigger)
True true.
Yeah, I always get the zero.
Don't ever say they never gave you nuthin
Let it rain.
Next support 1237.50 March 17 low on Sept ES contract.
Lmao! I love you Zero Hedge
Do they have circuit breakers for when the DJIA goes too high?
That is not logical.
It's a one way ratchet, over inflated balloon falsely pumped up by the FED.
Heck, I bought the dip.
I like your balls.
I am still wanting to buy in. That means it still has further to drop more than likely.
Looks like the panic sell just ended.
Damnit, I want to see S&P 1250 today.
HFTs will take this back up come 3:00pm.
looks like someone just dumped a whole lot of money on the buy side, i wonder who
no more than two percent drop in one day is allowed
but it will get away from them one day
Short covering contributes to the stability of sell offs. Markets do not go down in a straight line. Be patient...
For your entertainment and viewing pleasure, bitchez (consider that Bernanke-Jeetner-Paulson-Shirakawa-Trichet have dug our hole about one mile closer to the earth's core since 2008 - that whole 'shovel faster & create more debt to cure the illness & to get out of the hole/Krugman-Keynes-Greenspanian action plan'):
Faber ~ Ben Bernanke is a Liar
That means a shovel ready project for Obama Bin Lyin's next stimulus...
Am I just an idiot? I'm at a lose for what you are all talking about. I'm not in front of a tv but I see a market off it's lows and no where near shutting down. There's still plenty of stocks to buy. Just ask Ben.
Funny..... Cramer as blow harding the same sentiment last night. Same Cool-Aid?
I don't see the fellow drinking the Kool-Aid, we simply aren't at all close to a 1,200 point sell off. About 1/10th of the way there. God doesn't post this chart every time there is a 2% drop. Simply feels like a premature post. No biggie.
Way premature on this post. So we had a 50 point drop. Cry wolf too many times...
This appears like there are some big players dropping some risk to buy dollars. Liquidity, yes. Market crash...not today. It'll be much harder than anyone thinks to crash this mrket as long as the long arm of the fed has it in it's pocket. And that ain't changing any time soon. Just like to devalue of the dollar. I can't stand the fed, but they have managed the dollar pullback pretty good to this point. There's a reason the old saying is still around. Don't fight the fed.
You mean like in 2000? Or 2008?
You know those oscillating waves (think debt, leverage and false support) that are being compressed, creating larger outsized events closer together?
Ahhh, forget it, chief. Carry on.
Circuit breakers are important in that they allow traders to breath deeply, collect themselves, realize that there is truly nothing to fear and resume buying stocks when they once again have the opportunity.
Which is right after they get a phone call from Ben telling them to "stop fucking around"
You mean the Fedstapo?
+1
No more coffee breaks till the peasantry rejoices!
whoaaaaaa horseee, market only down 1 pct, lets not make more of it that what it is.....
Seriously. +1
Dow down 7.2% since May 3 and 4.5% since May 27.
The problem really gets kicked off in earnest when this happens 2 to 4 times per week, let alone see that 1 pct loss rise to 2% or 3%.
But that can't/won't happen. The economy is fundamentally strong, and there aren't isn't a literal list of truly incredibly financial and political crises involving previously unimaginable amounts of leveraged debt growing far worse by the week.
/sarc/
I just love the red shading on the graphic. It took me a minute of staring at it to figure out what it incoherently tries to represent.
It's good to know the NYSE is in such competent hands.
There is a whole new tenor to the market, BTFD does not work anymore. The jagged down pattern is taking over--hard spikes down, rally back up to the previous break point, consolidate a little bit, then another spike down lower. Down / bear market action is different than bull market action and it is back in force. This is where loss aversion takes over and people get more emotional about their trading and start running for the exits to protect what's left of any profits. Volatility will increase and you will see strong snap back moves as well as day trading bears cover stops. Finally, the VIX is moving up as a confirmation of this new bear move. Fasten your seat belts.
Mind your own business... I'm sick and tired of your half-breed interference.
Flashlight reveries caught in the headlights of a truck.
People should get circuit breakers too. If 10 million people break their circuit together, it counts for a 10 minute halt.... like that, you get the idea.
That would level the playing field. Can you imagine that? Live voting price discovery.

I fuckin LOVE that deer, man. Is that Bernanke's headlights in its eyes?
S&P 500 negative for the year, so sad, 401 (k) sheeple down extra due to management fees, so sad.
They are the deer, not the driver. And what's coming is a fully loaded semi.
Market down, gold steady. enough said. The game of fleecing the sheeple is almost done and the game of who can lose less has begun.
Don't forget the "Get to the Chopper" rooftop game. And the "Fill the Lifeboats" game. I always like that one. And the family favorite, "Clueless" seems to have made a comeback.
Good times, good times.
Oh! We're playing "Clueless"?!?
OK, I guess Ben Bernake. In the capital. With the Fed.
Cash is king mutha fucka!
And bonds.
Maybe gold too. We will see!
So are the shorts covering now to take some profits here and then short some more from a higher level than they just covered at?
Don't you wish the market movers would tell us their plans?
Those greedy SOBs probably won't.
Bernanke will save all 'risk on' traders.
Trust the man. He's a genius, and has proved it according to Time Magazine.
/s/
I need a slow daily decline in the market so compounding will really work with my BGZ trade.
I need a slow daily decline in the market so compounding will really work with my BGZ trade.
I knew it was about to go down!
I almost capitulated today.
If i hadnt got sidetracked discussing issues about socialism i would have jumped back into stocks today thinking the post qe2 correction was already over ( market anticipation brings all crises forward)
I am almost a perfect contrary indicator. As long as i can force myself to do what i dont want to do i more often succeed in making money.
Well we sre w getting close to the bottom of the top channel, my second entry point, and near the speed line at about 1250
I thought Lazlo was the only one allowed to use magic rulers...
Wait, there's a stock market in America? I know about the casinos, but stock market?
I did not see any post on ZH (probably I missed it) about how a collapse will effect the diversity in manners of trading. It must be the real stock exchanges as last survivors but it also must mean that the most simple platforms like plus500 and tens of others will take the first punch. It is easy to fake server problems and if the masses of the traders get the to point to take the short side of the market the platforms can "shut down" any minute.
They make money on transactions but maybe overlords will make sure there is no direct way to cash in.
I am not exposed but I really would like to see an insight on this
no stick save from CNBC this time - haven't heard a word more about those capital surcharges though - amazing
maybe a pythagoras algo this time
Can somebody do a T-shirt with that deer on the front, with some associated anti banker slant, I'd buy it.
