Meet Duquesne Capital's Soon-To-Be-Liquidated Portfolio
In advance of Druckenmiller's resignation, Duquesne Capital was kind enough to supply an updated 13F with a listing of its $2.4 billion in stock holdings. The top 50 positions are presented below, now that the firm will be actively dumping shares as it enters wind down mode. The top 5 holdings are: Apple, Wells Fargo, McDonalds, JPM and Cisco (the last one must have hurt).

Good to know my AAPL puts will be even further in the money than I thought. Thanks Stan D., you are my Santa this year.
It should be fun to see how the Algo's are gonna deal....
There's not all that much there of real size vs. the daily volume in any particular name - especially if you have a little while to get out.
Things like CBST, LO and ARTC could be a bitch though. If I had positions in names like these I'd dump them now (if I thought this guy wasn't out yet) and stick in bids lower at some point.
No GLD in this manager's portfolio.
#23.....
Yes, but i was comparing to how Paulson has lots of the actual GLD etf, not to mention other top HFs
Eh, Paulson (as much as I respect the guy) is getting his a$$ handed to him this year. He has had to liquidate lots of GLD to cover margin calls.
One hit wonders...yeah I know, what a hit. Thinking Brett Boone.
His holding look pretty good to me except no Chinese solars.
That must be where he went wrong.
lol
I heard throught the green shoots line that Leo will be taking over the fund and it will be full of ever Chinese solar company known.
Tyler, you and your crew are seriously on top of it. Very nice.
"Everybody out of the pool !"
Say, when is the KKR IPO????
That's one way to make a sell call without having to get
kicked off the party list. "I quit."
Wonder if he cracked a brewski & went down the slide on his way out.
more like courvoisier l'esprit and a cohiba on the slide down.
Careless- Great call on MCD a while back. I hope you are enjoying your profits.
thanks for the compliment. it was a good call, but i'm in cash at the end of every day. right now i'm watching a short squeeze play out in X, but who knows how that will end. i also have HAUP on my radar.
Can you elaborate on HAUP? I am also watching it.
there's talk that google will use HAUP software in the google tablet coming out in november. impressive that it closed above 3.
Glaring omission...no GS shares.....;>)
Also why are CITI Group and WFC mentioned twice?
the over/under time to unload 3,000,000 shares of C is 5 seconds
I'll take the under and I'll even spot you $.50 to the upside upon liquidation.
I'll take the over, gimme 10 minutes, rule 93 and I wont move the price.
yeh-you're not like the others ;-)

Even Hedge Funds cannot make Money in the HFT Market. How on earth could a Retail Trader?
The only people that are making money are the Front Runners that own the HFT Computers. Or from your post yesterday the Front Runners of the Feds Bond Buying.
It just goes to show you why so many Retail Investors have run for their lives from the Market and now Hedge Funds too.
Does Bill Gross count as a front runner?
YES!
Clearly you didn't read your own post where it says he will be returning money in 2011.
You have a lot to learn doc. Stay alert! Read and learn.
Luckily physical PM's aren't in his top holdings. He'll look back in two years and be really glad he quit the market. Although, he'll probably put his personal portfolio into trash paper anyways.
It's okay, Uncle Obama will still give him some food stamps if he goes broke.
Novice question: Why would he make a big announcement? Why not quietly try liquidating under the radar?
Doesn't Druckenmiller open himself up more to vultures as he tries to unwind?
Just based upon the story below copied from another post, my guess is that he liquidated his personal wealth before making the announcement.
Sorkin reveals an extraordinary telephone conversation between Stanley Druckenmiller, a George Soros acolyte worth $3.5 billion, and Gary Cohn, Goldman’s president. Cohn attempts to persuade Druckenmiller (whom he had long counted as a friend) not to withdraw all his funds from Goldman: “I’m learning who my friends are and who my enemies are, and I’m making lists.” The hedge fund boss shoots back: “It’s my livelihood. I’ve got to protect myself and I don’t really give a shit what you have to say.”
Prob: sometimes, but only sometimes, the SEC's rules apply. He's just declared to be on the outside of that.
Good luck to him.

Not if he liquidates while the 10 year heads to 2%.. sneer sneer.. when is the next LTCM blowup coming ?
he not liquidating anything... its just a name change.
Buy and hold on 7-1 leverage is dead. My dart could have returned 30 pc 1988-2000 with 7-1 leverage and my mother could have come up with that portfolio.
"didn't want to spend the months of September and October in the office all day because this is a big deal." Hmmm. And the response by associates? "You're a billionaire, why are you worried the market!" And his response? "I'm done. I'm starting a charity." VERY interesting. What's the Robert Cray line? "She was just another notch in my guitar"? Needless to say "it only get's more interesting from here" and "I'm always glad to see Jim Cramer still talking live."
Druckenmiller has been a survivor. Duquesne never had a loss until this year, down 5%. He's a big whale heading for the beach at only 57. He undoubtedly sees the road ahead as full of land mines and realizes the world's economic system is clogged with far too much leverage.
His exit now may just be a canary in the coal mine. I doubt his departure is without meaning.
He's heading for his private box at Heinz Field... it's almost Stiller season.
He's one of my heros and ideas gleaned from his interview in "The New Market Wizards" were directly responsible for the biggest score of my career. If he can't hack this non-market environment, what chance do any of the rest of us have?
zero, the question kind-of answers itself. But wait! we can think, challenge each other, watch Tyler and gang do a great job of uncovering "situations" and we chew them over.
We're not dead yet:

There are certainly a lot of details like that to take into consideration.I read and understand the entire article and I really enjoyed it to be honest.
