Merkel Attempt To Talk Down Euro Rejected By MGA Rumor That Fed Will Announce Aggressive Bond Buying Any Minute

Tyler Durden's picture

Poor Angela Merkel - being completely unable to do any monetary intervention without incurring the anger of a hawkish population, the chancellor is limited in her ability to intervene in the FX market. Which is why her most recent attempt to generate some Euro weakness appears to have had a diametrically opposite effect. Reuters quotes the chancellor as having said that recent euro weaknesses have not been overcome, and have been merely shielded for now, using EU and IMF rescue packages. In other words please sell the EUR. She has also sees major risk of protectionism, and supports the Sarkozy initiative to put currencies on the G20 agenda. Of course, all this FX warfare-lite is for nothing, as the market is invigorated by a Medley Global Advisors report that a Fed announcement to "aggressively" buy bonds is imminent. At least we now know that even if it sucks at everything else, the Fed is great at leaking stuff to the highest bidder. Regardless, first of all, this is a total bullshit plant. And second, just how is that news again? We have long claimed the Fed will have no choice but to buy at least $1.5 trillion. Even permabull Jim O'Neill said so on Tom Keene last night. But yes, lets price in QE2 a little more with some worthless rumor. After all the plunge in BAC must be halted at all costs.

Yet the immediate goal of fooling several thousands Japanese housewives, and some momentum chasing computers, has been accomplished.

Well, if she can declare that Germany will chuck the Euro away now and have gold as the new currency of Germany, I guess the Euro will show huge weakness immediately...;-)

VIX options are cash settled based on the weighted average opening price on the day of expiration.  The last day to trade VIX options is the day before they expire... which would have been yesterday.

The FED has been devaluing the dollar for almost 100 years, it should be good at it by now.

Now they just have to convince the countries we import goods and natural resources from that their exports are worth less, too.  Because $10./gal. gasoline might put a damper on "the recovery".

At this point, Q/E2 has to have been priced in many times over counting for 1,200 DOW points minimum. Even if Q/E2 is delivered, wont it be the biggest 'sell the news' in history? Or does Q/E2 event simply reinforce the immediate need for Q/E3, which will immediately be priced in at about DOW 15,000?

USDX all the way back to 77.45 yet gold is unch.

Something tells me this is just rumor-mongering BS.

If gold fails to hold 1325 and closes below there, it could move all the way back to 1300 but there should be some significant support there.

Silver looks like significant support at 23. The two support levels may coincide. Maybe tomorrow when there is no POMO. Or Monday. Either way, 1300 on the Dec10 gold and 23 on the Dec 10 silver would be terrific entry points if you get a chance.

Lastly, very little premium is being taken out of the Dec silver calls. Price is more than a dollar off its highs but the boys ain't letting anyone in cheap. Very interesting. Feel free to read into that what you will.

Gold is still heading to 1500 by 12/10/10. Silver will trade through 27.

Guys,

This is serious.  It seems there is going to be a lot of distraction coming from UFOs.  You heard righ, UFOs.

I'll like to get your reactions.  Could it be that government is planning to control people and countries (including markets and economies) with this kind of stuff?  I've seen plenty of conspiracy stuff & UFOs theories in Youtube.  But is it actually happening?

And of course, will cost you more in taxes to fund and run it properly as you may have forgotten to consider.  Or not, I mean to consider, not whether there'll be more taxes.

No?
