Ok....i hear a lot bickering back and forth about Moore being a socialist and all that... I'm no member of the Michael Moore fan club, as I think he somehow doesn't come off as a figure of authority.

HOWEVER, no matter what your opionon of Moore is, he will bring to light (i think, juding from the limited trailer) to the common 'Joe - 6 pack idiot American' how he's being fleeced by the wealthy. Domestic terroism in a way, hope his movie shows the topic in this light so Joe 6 pack can get angry at something else besides Bin Laden and the Chinese taking his job..

My 2 cents or should I say pesos...

The only way this "film" will do well at the box office is if it is made mandatory in the schools like Al Gore's film was in England ... or if Move On.org forces moviegoers to buy the tickets. We already see too much of Michael, we need less not Moore!

Since Moore is of the left and populism is almost exclusively of the right today and because the right hates Moore the effect of this will be to tend to quell criticism of The Street from the right.

Populists of the left and right have always mistrusted if not hated the financial elites. It has been the particular genius of the corporate elements of the GOP, which is everyone but Paul, to successfully deflect this antipathy by appeals to free markets and then pointing to their real enemy, niggers.

Socialism...to understand Socialism you must find a trusted source. My recomendation is George Orwell, author of "1984" and "Animal Farm" and other works... of demonstrated brilliance and integrity.

But he also wrote "The Road To Wigan Pier". In it, there is a workable explanation of Socialism based on his own research and observations and perceptions. A great and honest read.

BTW, do not confuse his "1984" and Animal Farm" with the movie [British] versions. The latter were produced with deliberate distortion. Google around if you disbelieve.

I just wanna see if I'm smart enough, via 3rd grade math, to participate at Zero Hedge (captcha Q).

If he read Human Action and The Law of Marginal Utility his life would be of value. The left and the right only digs holes to put reasonable people in them. Sad is they think there change warriors with OPM.

Make a movie, and throw it in the mix.

Might as well, might as well . . .

Moore's efforts are no better or worse that the drivel fed to the masses by CNBC.

If you "get" this website, then you probably really don't care very much about Michael Moore and his politics, and only hope that he got the message right  - that there is something very wrong going on in high places in America - and that it is received by a much wider audience, and adds to the slowly growing voices expressing outrage.   It's probably true that the Fox News crowd has already decided whatever Moore says is liberal claptrap and is all lies. They have ample reason to say so.  For that reason, his movie will no doubt fail at this purpose, although I recall F. 911 having some effect in terms of the perception of Bush/Cheney at the time, even among a few ardent Bushies, and opening some, but not many, eyes to What Lies Beneath.

We on the advantaged side of that class line have ourselves to blame--we failed to fulfil our reponsibility to keep "our own" in check (while feeding at the trough ourselves for the last ten years or more.)

"We should all like to live on the Avenue facing the Park, and do business opposite the Post Office. If we are not rich enough to do so, we yield to force and law and go off peacefully to live and do business where the monopoly is not felt," wrote Sumner, but he did not live to see what it was like when men sought ultimate shelter in the dumps of Hoovervilles.  -Sumner and Keller, op. cit., 258

I honestly hope you are on the Avenue facing the Park and weather this well.  When the struggle begins, I'm afraid, two classes of people will exist.  The upper upper class and the rest of us.  I also think todays lower class will sit this one out, having lost nothing.  It'll be the whole middle class and lower to middle upper classes rattling the gates.

After all this plays out the terms "capitalism" and "free markets" will be unusable in our lexicon, even though the world we live in is neither. How many Germans do you know with the surname "Hitler" ? It'll be like that.

Everyone brace for a generational swing to the hard left and if you're smart enough to be wealthy over the next few years, better keep your mouth shut and your head down.

To all the fools debating within the fake left/right duality: Socialism and capitalism are ideologies, and more importantly, aren't opposites. Government systems are implementations of these ideologies: the US is a capitalist oligarchy, the Europeans have capitalist social democracies. The 2 societies are not dramatically different, except for their healthcare systems, working class living conditions and incarceration rates. As an aside for the "red scare" people - didn't you get the memo? The new enemy is "terrorism" - please update your lexicon and use proper buzzwords to encourage knee-jerk reactions.

Michael Moore is encouraging populist revolt, which will facilitate the dismantling of the elite vampire class. It's inevitable, the only question is how long it will take and how many will die needlessly. Eventually the top elites will throw some lower elites to the dogs to preserve their seats.

By the way, if any "revolution" starts in this country, it will come from the "right" (middle country gun nuts), the "left" is a bunch of whiners with no real power.
