Mid-Term Election Open Thread

Tyler Durden's picture

Since political commentary is most certainly not our strong suit, and since the Zero Hedge staff really couldn't care less about the outcome of this particular election, we leave it up to our proactive and interested readers to discuss, if they so desire, the evening's political developments.

Here is some interactive map thingy for those who care about being kept up to the millisecond, and thus not being frontrun by Johnny 5 in the short massacre currently raging in the Globex.

I hope the new Republican majority in the House will hammer out Articles of Impeachement of Obama prior to be being sworn in, in January. Save time.

Are you kidding? Bush proved that a prez can do anything short of eating live babies during a state of the union address and still not fear impeachment. Or any consequences at all, for that matter. Seeing that psychopathic punk enjoy the world series last night was beyond the fucking pale.

no, are you kidding?  bush proved the democrats (i used to be one) have no guts at all and wouldn't impeach an actual war criminal/police state organizer/constitution usurper, whereas republicans actually impeached (did not convict) clinton because he lied about getting head from monica (probably et. al.), admittedly sometimes during the performance of state business (if talking to arafat qualifies).

if the dems lose the house, obama may very well be impeached (but given the political bust for the pubs after clinton's impeachment, probably not).  though if i were he i certainly would count on endless, vicious investigations (and he deserves a good number). there is only one opposition party in the u.s. and it is the repubs.

Since political commentary is most certainly not our strong suit...

An open letter to Mr. Durden:

Obviously, I am the most insightful and most knowledgeable member of this forum regarding all aspects of American politics. As such, I would like to offer my services as a guest writer who specializes in political and sociological commentary. While your Bloomberg charts are lovely, I think that it would behoove ZH to expand into the political arena and shine a light into the dark corners of Washington.  I'm your guy.

SInce most of the members of the ZH community are passionate Republican wing-nuts, I promise to twist and spin everything in favor of the Right, while, at the same time, poke fun of that big-eared negro who has single-handedly destroyed America.  It is more than apparent that your readers are extremely reluctant to allow opposing opinions - one only needs to read through the gold, guns, ammo, bunkers, and Keynesianism threads to realize that most people here are less interested in debate and more interested in echo chambers.  For instance, the slightest suggestion that gold will decline in value is as welcome as a dog fart in a sensory deprivation tank.  In short, I promise not to fart in the ZH echo chamber.

I am finishing my first entry, fantastically entitled Why is there a Negro in My White House?   That is a sequel to an article I wrote in American Conservative, which was entitled Kentucky Fried America:  Guns, Gold, God, Ammo and Palin.  Your readers will love it.

I want my country back,

RNR

Yeah, that's exactly what Zerohedge needs.  A democratic goon.  Don't lie to me and tell me that you aren't, because you do nothing but make partisan attacks on anyone you perceive as being "repugnicant".

You know nothing of the people who come to Zerohedge.  Nothing.  Obama is the same as Bush is the same as Clinton is the same as Bush senior.  I would say that they were the same as Reagan, but they didn't have dementia.  You hate anyone who dares to try to change the Republican party from the inside for some reason.  Must have passed out at a Log Cabin Republican convention and woke up next to a real piggy.

@tmosley

I'm afraid that I have some disturbing news for you:

Jealously and anger (along with excessive itching) are two of the primary symptoms of vaginitis - a horrible infection of your vagina which requires immediate attention.  I'm not a gynecologist, but if you leave this untreated, you will eventually become highly emotional and prone to taking things too seriously - like all bitches.

Do not return to this forum until you've been properly treated.

Respectfully,

Dr. RNR

Please show proof of your assertions in this statement, namely your ownership allowing you to use the possessive "my" and that there is in fact a "country" in instead of a corporation called United States.

You walk down the road and see a small trench full of shit. Do you honestly believe there are only two choices, jumping on the left leg and getting your left side full of it or do the same on the right? Ether choice leads to a bad outcome, and every rational human being will think , hope and wish for something better. Waiting for a bus, would be one option.. however in our case it will not come unless we demand it.

Do not vote, unless you can vote for the third party candidate. People are all about incentives, and it is up to us to say f to the bad options and create incentives for independent candidates / parties to run.

Just say NO, we had f. enough & we deserve better. Much Better !

Agreed.

Daniel Webster is no friend of the Fed...he is a Constitutionalist as far as I can tell. He certainly hasn't used the tax code, as Grayson did, to feather his own nest by ostensibly losing millions of dollars in offshore ponzi's.

People should understand Grayson is a "trained lawyer" and was an associate in a firm specializing in contract law...but somehow lost money via an international ponzi contract...LOL.

Grayson is such a worthless political hack that I believe he was only attacking the banks in order to promote his own career.

He's a complete asshole and I couldn't be more thrilled that he's gone. Attempting to solve our problems will take cooperation, not the shrill partisanship of pricks like Grayson.

Ok that sort of thing would make me vote for a guy.  A real man, hunting with his bare hands and has a healthy appetite for women and booze, something I think most of us can understand.  Running his own business and smart enough to master a difficult language, yeah I would vote for that guy...but the kicker would be a Grizzly Adams beard and intense burning eyes.  Think of how cool he would be during Congressional testimony, might make the looters worried about Wild Man jumping down and having some fun at their expense :)

YAH-West is a hard dick 13A.  Been watching that mess that he's been putting up with, along with the poor kids in the Murtha fraud Haditha "killing" thingie.

I used to work for a hard dick 13A who had the doggie (well, he said I could say doggie, but then I had to say ...) who had the 175 gun battery that supported 26 MAR at Khe Sanh.  Kelley was/is a Kentucky Gentleman and his Mom introduced me to "Bourbon and Branch".  What a Lady.

Kelley had "Al Gray Approval".  Good enough for me.

So when they recycled me, I got a chance to play again ... this time in the desert ... we looked at the kids and said "dang, we couldn't do what they are doing."

Been watching what has been going on and the U.S. Army has returned to the professional level that they would expect of themselves.  Almost as good as Misguided Children ;-)

Yeah, a new and gripping media spectacle able to compete with the other reality teevee shows for the attentions of that special class of amerkins who are educated, well informed and deeply commited to their civic responsibility to be engaged in the political process.  It will be spellbinding,  keeping us on the edge of our collective seat--and at each others' throats--for the coming year leading up to the next campaign season, when things will get even hotter.

Always change we can believe in.  Barry may have coined the slogan, but has it ever really been any different?

It should definitely take our attention away from the banksters and that little problem of the Rule of Law.

Some cultures revere the carrion-eater as the only karma-neutral player in the great circle of life and death; everything else besides plants kills something to eat.

It is said the eagle was used as a national emblem because, at one of the first battles of the Revolution (which occurred early in the morning) the noise of the struggle awoke the sleeping eagles on the heights and they flew from their nests and circled about over the heads of the fighting men, all the while giving vent to their raucous cries. "They are shrieking for Freedom," said the patriots.

In truth, the eagles merely had a rational expectation of dinner.

I have no delusion that voting matters.  Voter fraud has been a cornerstone of voting since back to the very begining.

Yeah, that really helped the English out a lot, didn't it?

Changed their whole country around, why, it's a new democratic dynamic over there (or does it look a whole lot like us, only more confusing?)

Hate to say it, but adding a steaming pile of shit, to the choice between a turd-sandwich or giant-douche, really doesn't change anything but the ratio's. You're still left w/ a criminal running the cash register, just a question of which colors they wear to work....

You seem to have gotten some foolish idea in your head about me.  I don't recall what it was just now, though I seem to recall you disagreed with me on some minor point, so yo decided to start calling me a "bitch", because you couldn't really back up your argument.  I am, and have been for a long time, an anarcho-capitalist, and accept any form of smaller government as an incremental step toward a society that is livable.

My avatar is Homunculus, an evil being created from knowledge extracted from the gate of truth upon the commission of an ancient king in hopes that this being would tell him the secrets of immortality.  Homunculus obliged, telling him that immortality could be had, but the cost would be the lives of all the residents of his nation.  The king agreed, and set about fulfilling his instructions.  When the time came, he betrayed the king, as the center of the circle was where he was contained in his flask, held by a slave.  He and the slave became immortal, while the king, and all the citizens of the nation died.

I thought it was a nice metaphor for the current situation, with the king representing corrupt politicians, and Homunculus representing central banking.

You can watch the episode that lays out that whole plot for free here: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood: The Dwarf in the Flask

Don't get fooled again!!

Keith moon died after this song was released.

Townshend stated in 2006 that: "It is not precisely a song that decries revolution - it suggests that we will indeed fight in the streets - but that revolution, like all action can have results we cannot predict. Don't expect to see what you expect to see. Expect nothing and you might gain everything. The song was meant to let politicians and revolutionaries alike know that what lay in the centre of my life was not for sale, and could not be co-opted into any obvious cause. [...] From 1971 - when I wrote Won't Get Fooled Again - to 1985, there was a transition in me from refusal to be co-opted by activists, to a refusal to be judged by people I found jaded and compliant in Thatchers Britain."

Keith moon died after this song was released.

Moon died eight years after WGFA was released on the Who's Next album (1971). I don't see a connection. However, on the cover of Who Are You (1979) Moon is shown sitting on a chair stenciled, "Not to be taken away." He died before the year was out.

How many polititicians does it take to change a light bulb?

Two. One to change it and the other to change it back.

Psychiatrists? (Apologies to Cog Dis)

One.  The light bulb has to want to change, though.

Economists? (Apologies to everyone)

Two.  One to assume there is a ladder, and the other to change it.

Enough.  Good night all! :)
