Mid-Term Election Open Thread
Since political commentary is most certainly not our strong suit, and since the Zero Hedge staff really couldn't care less about the outcome of this particular election, we leave it up to our proactive and interested readers to discuss, if they so desire, the evening's political developments.
Here is some interactive map thingy for those who care about being kept up to the millisecond, and thus not being frontrun by Johnny 5 in the short massacre currently raging in the Globex.

err, um.....I can simplify everything for you. Would you like Donkey doo or Elephant piss?
that basically sums up American politricks.

I hope the new Republican majority in the House will hammer out Articles of Impeachement of Obama prior to be being sworn in, in January. Save time.
Are you kidding? Bush proved that a prez can do anything short of eating live babies during a state of the union address and still not fear impeachment. Or any consequences at all, for that matter. Seeing that psychopathic punk enjoy the world series last night was beyond the fucking pale.
no, are you kidding? bush proved the democrats (i used to be one) have no guts at all and wouldn't impeach an actual war criminal/police state organizer/constitution usurper, whereas republicans actually impeached (did not convict) clinton because he lied about getting head from monica (probably et. al.), admittedly sometimes during the performance of state business (if talking to arafat qualifies).
if the dems lose the house, obama may very well be impeached (but given the political bust for the pubs after clinton's impeachment, probably not). though if i were he i certainly would count on endless, vicious investigations (and he deserves a good number). there is only one opposition party in the u.s. and it is the repubs.
I just checked, the House is now in the hands of the Republicans.
Since political commentary is most certainly not our strong suit...
An open letter to Mr. Durden:
Obviously, I am the most insightful and most knowledgeable member of this forum regarding all aspects of American politics. As such, I would like to offer my services as a guest writer who specializes in political and sociological commentary. While your Bloomberg charts are lovely, I think that it would behoove ZH to expand into the political arena and shine a light into the dark corners of Washington. I'm your guy.
SInce most of the members of the ZH community are passionate Republican wing-nuts, I promise to twist and spin everything in favor of the Right, while, at the same time, poke fun of that big-eared negro who has single-handedly destroyed America. It is more than apparent that your readers are extremely reluctant to allow opposing opinions - one only needs to read through the gold, guns, ammo, bunkers, and Keynesianism threads to realize that most people here are less interested in debate and more interested in echo chambers. For instance, the slightest suggestion that gold will decline in value is as welcome as a dog fart in a sensory deprivation tank. In short, I promise not to fart in the ZH echo chamber.
I am finishing my first entry, fantastically entitled Why is there a Negro in My White House? That is a sequel to an article I wrote in American Conservative, which was entitled Kentucky Fried America: Guns, Gold, God, Ammo and Palin. Your readers will love it.
I want my country back,

Your prompt response is most appreciated.
I shall post my stunningly impressive resume in the next few days for your (and your readers) review.
In the meantime, I would like to share a video-resume that I made a few years ago:

Would you join my ping pong squad? All of your skills are now belong to us, if you may.
No offense, but that was quite possibly the most wasted 6 minutes and 47 seconds of my life.
Make sure Nurse Ratched gets you a full dose.
Yeah, that's exactly what Zerohedge needs. A democratic goon. Don't lie to me and tell me that you aren't, because you do nothing but make partisan attacks on anyone you perceive as being "repugnicant".
You know nothing of the people who come to Zerohedge. Nothing. Obama is the same as Bush is the same as Clinton is the same as Bush senior. I would say that they were the same as Reagan, but they didn't have dementia. You hate anyone who dares to try to change the Republican party from the inside for some reason. Must have passed out at a Log Cabin Republican convention and woke up next to a real piggy.
I dunno, Bush the younger seemed to forget that he was a dignitary quite a bit.
@tmosley
I'm afraid that I have some disturbing news for you:
Jealously and anger (along with excessive itching) are two of the primary symptoms of vaginitis - a horrible infection of your vagina which requires immediate attention. I'm not a gynecologist, but if you leave this untreated, you will eventually become highly emotional and prone to taking things too seriously - like all bitches.
Do not return to this forum until you've been properly treated.
Respectfully,
Dr. RNR
Republicans win! Yipee! We need a return to the sanity of 2008.
Listen to him, T. Being an actual vagina, he knows what he's talking about here.
"I want my country back"
Please show proof of your assertions in this statement, namely your ownership allowing you to use the possessive "my" and that there is in fact a "country" in instead of a corporation called United States.
Thanks for playing.
:) LB
You walk down the road and see a small trench full of shit. Do you honestly believe there are only two choices, jumping on the left leg and getting your left side full of it or do the same on the right? Ether choice leads to a bad outcome, and every rational human being will think , hope and wish for something better. Waiting for a bus, would be one option.. however in our case it will not come unless we demand it.
Do not vote, unless you can vote for the third party candidate. People are all about incentives, and it is up to us to say f to the bad options and create incentives for independent candidates / parties to run.
Just say NO, we had f. enough & we deserve better. Much Better !
.
" the House is now in the hands of the Republicans."
so, does this mean it's "morning in america" again?
also does anyone know where Mrs. Mcgoldrick lives?
McRibs Forever.
Best post all year.
kool-aid and skittle farting unicorns are for fags (not in a gay derogatory way- but fag like the southpark episode)

ok-Bawney is in a "loose bowels" mode about now. After all, he's been discovering that his seat ... well ... it isn't "safe."
If I lived on the other side of my street, I could have voted against Bawney.
But you know, our predecessors in MA invented this thing that Gov. Gerry is tagged with:

real-time: just heard that FL moonbat Grayson b gone! nmewn-hope this was your NOT guy!
dontch'a know.

"real-time: just heard that FL moonbat Grayson b gone! nmewn-hope this was your NOT guy!"
LOL...no he's not.
http://enight.elections.myflorida.com/MyElection.aspx?Add=140020
Annnddd...Col.West is kicking Ron Klein's ass up & down the street...LOL. This guy West is an incredible story, if you haven't heard about him.
An officer and a gentleman...we still make em Ned...don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise my friend.
YES!!! GRAYSON FUCKING LOST!!!
What a fucking douchebag he is.
Aside from Ron Paul, Grayson is the guy who has been the harshest on the banks and the Fed in national politics, and has been at the forefront of forclosuregate. This is not exactly inspiring.
Only since the election was closing in did he try to change his tone. He did a 180 faster than Clinton did when Lewinski was blowing him. Other than that he was with the bankers and the rest of the scam street scum.
Agreed.
Daniel Webster is no friend of the Fed...he is a Constitutionalist as far as I can tell. He certainly hasn't used the tax code, as Grayson did, to feather his own nest by ostensibly losing millions of dollars in offshore ponzi's.
People should understand Grayson is a "trained lawyer" and was an associate in a firm specializing in contract law...but somehow lost money via an international ponzi contract...LOL.
Grayson is such a worthless political hack that I believe he was only attacking the banks in order to promote his own career.
He's a complete asshole and I couldn't be more thrilled that he's gone. Attempting to solve our problems will take cooperation, not the shrill partisanship of pricks like Grayson.
Grayson kills baby seals with his bare hands and sells the pelts to Ruskies in exchange for Chechnyan prostitutes and bottles of illegal liqueur.
Wow, big step up for him.
The neat thing is that none of those activities involve theft.
I had heard that he moonlighted at various animal shelters and volunteered to kill newborn puppies with a claw hammer. Once the babies were dead, they were "softened up a bit more" with hammer therapy and then packaged and sold to China, who probably made dog food out of them! Ewwwwwww.
He fucks them first.
the seals or the chechens? nice to hear from you again.
Ok that sort of thing would make me vote for a guy. A real man, hunting with his bare hands and has a healthy appetite for women and booze, something I think most of us can understand. Running his own business and smart enough to master a difficult language, yeah I would vote for that guy...but the kicker would be a Grizzly Adams beard and intense burning eyes. Think of how cool he would be during Congressional testimony, might make the looters worried about Wild Man jumping down and having some fun at their expense :)
Yeah, nothing makes me feel more like a man than 'hunting' a baby seal. The real trick is getting the baby-seal call right and fitting into my mama-seal costume.
and then he became dirty, and became a congressman!
Grayson may have hit the banks hard, but he's still a pig and does not deserve to be there. Good riddance.
pardon me, its a pig farm, and as such is populated by same.
YAH-West is a hard dick 13A. Been watching that mess that he's been putting up with, along with the poor kids in the Murtha fraud Haditha "killing" thingie.
I used to work for a hard dick 13A who had the doggie (well, he said I could say doggie, but then I had to say ...) who had the 175 gun battery that supported 26 MAR at Khe Sanh. Kelley was/is a Kentucky Gentleman and his Mom introduced me to "Bourbon and Branch". What a Lady.
Kelley had "Al Gray Approval". Good enough for me.
So when they recycled me, I got a chance to play again ... this time in the desert ... we looked at the kids and said "dang, we couldn't do what they are doing."
Been watching what has been going on and the U.S. Army has returned to the professional level that they would expect of themselves. Almost as good as Misguided Children ;-)
Take care - Ned
They can never be as good as the misguided off the line ;-)
Take care Ned.
I'll take Pachyderm for 100 Alex.
Yeh looks like we are getting change.............again????
Yeah, a new and gripping media spectacle able to compete with the other reality teevee shows for the attentions of that special class of amerkins who are educated, well informed and deeply commited to their civic responsibility to be engaged in the political process. It will be spellbinding, keeping us on the edge of our collective seat--and at each others' throats--for the coming year leading up to the next campaign season, when things will get even hotter.
Always change we can believe in. Barry may have coined the slogan, but has it ever really been any different?
It should definitely take our attention away from the banksters and that little problem of the Rule of Law.
Yes, yet another iteration of the endless tragicomedy that is the public's adherence to their illusion of representative democracy:
http://www.dvorak.org/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Dem_Rep.jpg
And the voters speak:

Ordinarily, I'd be happy that the republicans are winning, but, since I started reading zerohedge, I am afraid now they will bail out the banks (again). BTW, when does Soros start pulling his money out of the market?
http://www.zerohedge.com/article/insider-selling-surges-multi-month-high...
I'll hug your elephant if you kiss my ass.
I'll show you politics in America. Here it is, right here. "I think the puppet on the right shares my beliefs." "I think the puppet on the left is more to my liking." "Hey, wait a minute, there's one guy holding out both puppets!" "Shut up! Go back to bed, America. Your government is in control. Here's Love Connection. Watch this and get fat and stupid. By the way, keep drinking beer, you f**king morons."
- Bill Hicks
A-fucking-men. I can't believe you got junked twice. People do not understand "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss."
Well, i guess, if the people did understand that simple concept, then the 'two puppet, always the same master' scam wouldn't be able to be pulled on the general populous time and time again.
Well thank you for posting it. Keeps things real. Reminds me of why I loved Bill Hicks so much.
PS So much for humor.
I have to admit that one of my best friends is a puppet.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQ3xxwQvVnE
here's a link to that and another pertinent Bill Hicks political observation..

I wish my homey could have lived to this day and I have a feeling his mouth would be moving a lot concerning all of this. After all, its just a ride.
Man I miss Bill Hicks - comic genius
In Democracy We Trust!

Ya its like the independent FED... who just does what banksters want....
BTW who besides me is doing exactly the opposite of the goldman vix / short time call this am?

I think their call on being short vol into Sept was right.
Depends? Short spot or futures? I say long spot short futures Vol.
Bull time spreads suck in summer and work before December... spot at 22 DEC at 24.. odds are we get inverted before Jan.

We have been a democracy a long time now. Somewhere long ago the Democratic Republic died.
Democrats => Tax and Spend
Republicans => Borrow and Spend
Any questions?

careful you guys....you're upsetting the Young Eagles of ZeroHedge...
What an appropriate national symbol is our bald eagle. A big, beautiful scavenger, a "pretty buzzard" if you will.
Some cultures revere the carrion-eater as the only karma-neutral player in the great circle of life and death; everything else besides plants kills something to eat.
In truth, the eagles merely had a rational expectation of dinner.
Yes, why is Obambi borrowing so much, then?
He's trying to be bipartisan - remember?
He does not have to try Monetary. He was born that way.
Word in the bath houses of Chicago say he is clearly Bi.
Larry Sinclair let us know he loves to Party.
Bi-parties-on!!!
See? It's all obvious when you de-construct it right.

Democrats= Tax + Borrow +Spend..
there fixed it for you :)
Republicans = Tax less + Borrow More + Spend More
There, that's better.
Democrats = Lies + Lies + Vaseline
Republicans = Vaseline + Lies + Lies
How bout that. :)
You see that?
Bipartisanship works.
You are both wrong....visualise a telephone pole...with no vaseline.
That should more accurately portray our plight!
Heh.. I'm just getting tired of the whole effin thing. It would be nice to just left the fuck alone.
How does one fuck alone?

All your votes are belong to us - bitchez.
Speaking of Bitchez...
We're taking surveys out here in California. And we can't find anyone who admits voting for Pelosi. ???
will people ever learn? speaking of elephant piss...Rick Scott(r)

LOL.
Red Tide is a bitchez ;-)
Who freaking cares who wins? They're all freaking clowns
More seriously:

I've been voting since Nixon. Today no way. I'm sick and tired of voting for the lesser of two evils. I quit.
Karl, is that you?
No, that is not Karl? He will go down with the Republican ship.
If you are frustrated to the point of quitting, just vote Libertarian. If everyone who got fed up did this, things would change a lot faster, probably for the better.
Voted for every Libertarian and independent candidate I could. Happily toss my vote at letting people know some of us are pissed at both parties.
Letting your conscience decide means that YOU didn't 'toss' anything, voter. Congratz on having one, it's more than you can say for most.
I have no delusion that voting matters. Voter fraud has been a cornerstone of voting since back to the very begining.
"I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this—who will count the votes, and how." Joseph Stalin
My compliment still stands.
Regards
Me, too, Shame.
Couldn't pay me to vote for a fucking republocrat.
wurd...
Here's to a 3rd party breakout in 2012
in this context wouldn't that be a "turd" party.
Yeah, that really helped the English out a lot, didn't it?
Changed their whole country around, why, it's a new democratic dynamic over there (or does it look a whole lot like us, only more confusing?)
Hate to say it, but adding a steaming pile of shit, to the choice between a turd-sandwich or giant-douche, really doesn't change anything but the ratio's. You're still left w/ a criminal running the cash register, just a question of which colors they wear to work....
"just vote Libertarian"
Damnit Tbitch, just when i was starting to really dislike you...
what the hell is your avatar by the way? it looks like a ...like a "man trap" of some kind....
You seem to have gotten some foolish idea in your head about me. I don't recall what it was just now, though I seem to recall you disagreed with me on some minor point, so yo decided to start calling me a "bitch", because you couldn't really back up your argument. I am, and have been for a long time, an anarcho-capitalist, and accept any form of smaller government as an incremental step toward a society that is livable.
My avatar is Homunculus, an evil being created from knowledge extracted from the gate of truth upon the commission of an ancient king in hopes that this being would tell him the secrets of immortality. Homunculus obliged, telling him that immortality could be had, but the cost would be the lives of all the residents of his nation. The king agreed, and set about fulfilling his instructions. When the time came, he betrayed the king, as the center of the circle was where he was contained in his flask, held by a slave. He and the slave became immortal, while the king, and all the citizens of the nation died.
I thought it was a nice metaphor for the current situation, with the king representing corrupt politicians, and Homunculus representing central banking.
You can watch the episode that lays out that whole plot for free here: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood: The Dwarf in the Flask
honestly, in a purely schoolyard way...I just like the sound of Tbitch better than Tmosley....It's "Bad-asser" imho AND the onomatopoeia of zerohedge
but it if bugs you....
Here's another..." the animal spirits, whose business it was to have escorted and gone hand-in-hand with the homunculus, and conducted him safe to the place destined for his reception."
spooky.
+ 1 Quadrillion - voted Libertarian down the line, hoping someone takes notice.
Boo Argos! Terrible choice. Go away quitter. You don't count or matter anymore. You don't deserve to complain.
Would you like to be smashed in the head with a hammer or with a tire iron? If you don't vote then you have no right to complain.
Freedom of Speech doesn't apply to non-voters? Isn't that special.
No...it applies to everyone.
There are places in this world where you can't vote at all. I wonder how that freedom of speech thingy is workin there?
Welcome to America. Now hand over everything you got. We'll let you keep what we don't "need".

Disintermediation, bitches. We don't need politicians. EVERY citizen should have the opportunity to vote on EVERY bill, using technology. Political intermediaries are out dated.
How do you trust that vote? I want paper ballots, thank you kindly sir, and the horse you rode in on.

Headlines tomorrow...
Establishment Republicans Replace Establishment Democrats
Implicit headline: The American public can't seem to get a break from anal rape.
Even the losers are having a post election pre rape party. Enjoy the party.
Or to quote Pete Townshend:
"Meet the new boss; same as the old boss."
Don't get fooled again!!
Keith moon died after this song was released.
Townshend stated in 2006 that: "It is not precisely a song that decries revolution - it suggests that we will indeed fight in the streets - but that revolution, like all action can have results we cannot predict. Don't expect to see what you expect to see. Expect nothing and you might gain everything. The song was meant to let politicians and revolutionaries alike know that what lay in the centre of my life was not for sale, and could not be co-opted into any obvious cause. [...] From 1971 - when I wrote Won't Get Fooled Again - to 1985, there was a transition in me from refusal to be co-opted by activists, to a refusal to be judged by people I found jaded and compliant in Thatchers Britain."
Keith moon died after this song was released.
Moon died eight years after WGFA was released on the Who's Next album (1971). I don't see a connection. However, on the cover of Who Are You (1979) Moon is shown sitting on a chair stenciled, "Not to be taken away." He died before the year was out.
I stand corrected, thanks!
Could be wrong, but I doubt it...
They're trying to add a state income tax when we don't have one. I'm voting just to say no on that one.
I am sooooo excited! I just know that the GOP is going to make everything so much better once they control Congress. Fuck I am so relieved.
6:10 p.m. ET: Exits show split on the role of government - Two out of three Democrats say it isn't doing enough. And four in five Republicans say it's doing too much.

That pretty much sums it up.

How many polititicians does it take to change a light bulb?
Two. One to change it and the other to change it back.
Psychiatrists? (Apologies to Cog Dis)
One. The light bulb has to want to change, though.
Economists? (Apologies to everyone)
Two. One to assume there is a ladder, and the other to change it.
Enough. Good night all! :)
How many Kennedy's does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Three.
One to hold the lightbulb, and two to drink enough scotch to make the room spin...
Joe Kennedy could have screwed your head to your ass with one hand while he was diddling Gloria Swanson with the other.
Good thing he never ran into Chuck Norris!
How many computer programmers does it take to change a lightbulb?
Can't be done; it's a hardware problem.
Q: How many straight San Franciscans does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: Both of them.
Q: How many televangelists does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: None. Televangelists screw in motels.
Thats right! I forgot politicians don't screw lightbulbs, but they always screw us.
True more or less, but take the Bishop Eddie Long of Atlanta. He gets blow jobs from the boys he is trying to "help" at the Longfellow academy. Somehow the name of that place fits for some reason.
