Nice Work Creating New Terrorists, You Morons

George Washington's picture

Preface: This is admittedly somewhat peripheral to economics and
business.  However, terrorist attacks cost many billions of dollars in
damage, and could severely depress consumer sentiment and “animal
spirits”.   And, as I have previously written, unnecessary wars hurt
the economy.  See this and this.

American civilian and military leaders have been creating new terrorists through their:

(1) Use of torture

and

(2) Killing of innocent civilians- especially children – in Arabic countries.

Torture

A high-level American Special Ops interrogator says that information obtained from torture is unreliable, and that torture just creates more terrorists.   Indeed, he says that torture of innocent Iraqis by Americans is the main reason that foreign fighters started fighting against Americans in Iraq in the first place.

A former FBI interrogator — who interrogated Al Qaeda suspects — says categorically that torture does not help collect intelligence. On the other hand he says that torture actually turns people into terrorists.

A 30-year veteran of CIA’s operations directorate who rose to the most senior managerial ranks, says:

“This is not just because the old hands overwhelmingly
believe that torture doesn’t work — it doesn’t — but also because they
know that torture creates more terrorists and fosters more acts of
terror than it could possibly neutralize.”

Former counter-terrorism czar Richard A. Clarke says that America’s indefinite detention without trial and abuse of prisoners is a leading Al Qaeda recruiting tool.

A former U.S. interrogator and counterintelligence agent, and Afghanistan veteran said,

Torture puts our troops in danger, torture makes our
troops less safe, torture creates terrorists. It’s used so widely as a
propaganda tool now in Afghanistan. All too often, detainees have
pamphlets on them, depicting what happened at Guantanamo.

The Senate Armed Services Committee unanimously found:

“The administration’s policies concerning [torture] and the resulting controversies … strengthened the hand of our enemies.”

Two professors of political science have demonstrated that torture increases, rather than decreases, terrorism.

Killing of Innocent Civilians

The former number 2 counter-terrorism expert at the State Department says that military attacks in Iraq increase terrorism.

Indeed, Al Qaeda wasn’t even in Iraq until the U.S. invaded that country.

After the U.S. military allegedly handcuffed and then killed a bunch of Afghan kids, thousands of Afghans are protesting the brutal killings, chanting 'Death to America!'.

Nice work creating new terrorists, you morons.

Anyone who thinks this is a partisan issue should read this and this.

In related news, not only are the U.S. government's actions
creating more terrorists, but "reforms" made to the intelligence
agencies have made it MORE DIFFICULT to stop the terrorists they've created.

Idiots.

And the entirety of human history prior to about the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius says otherwise.

It's also interesting that humans in societies that lived in societies where the struggle for survival was very real and hardly any time could be wasted in frivolity would devote so much time to developing numerous methods of torture when they don't actually work.

But, George Washington has repeatedly cited "experts" saying it doesn't, so I guess the empirical proof of millenia will just have to be ignored in favor of wishful thinking.

Torture was frequently used for entertainment and even more often used to punish witches, wizards, etc in the name of religion. Point being, that torture was not used for information as much as one would think, historically.

Having watched every single episode of 24, clearly torture works. Jack Bauer told me so.

Just immagine what would have happened if they hadn't gotten all those witches to talk, we wouldn't' have had time to build predator drones to hunt muslims with before magical terrorists took over the world.

Speaking of which...what about the risk of torturing innocents?  I've seen that implied here but not directly stated.  Even if we are getting useful information, isn't that counteracted by the risk of radicalizing more of "their" populace?  Not to mention the same problem coming from openingly torturing, ehm...sorry I mean enhanced interogating, "enemy combatants".  Torture may create actionable information, but in doing so it creates a need for exponentially more torture, because torturing makes enemies, at least of the middle class on down.

I still think we should torture, ehm i mean enhanced interogate, Geithner because his actions fall under the definition of a traitor as provided by the constituion making him an enemy combatant, and doing so would be highly likely to create actionable intelligence.  Right?

all seem sensitive to truth...

even you admit to torture under the euphemism of enhanced
interrogation procedures which is more cia talk
for normalizing terror as a tool....

these procedures have produced nothing except
macabre satisfaction for its practitioners...

those stupid ignorant faux terrorist attack
attempts were purely cia engineered charades....only a fucktard such as yourself would defend terror
and fail to see the cia's finger prints all over
it....

i suggest folks study the cia's mo....they would
be shocked to know how much murder and mayhen it

fuck you and your ignorant republican murder....
and unfortunately for you i have never voted for

hats off to you mr washington. thank you for speaking the truth.

the us government engages in torture and has done so for years. until bush, torture had been officially condemned though practiced. it is now part of us policy to torture and no one makes the pretense that it doesn't happen.

i see that numerous cia hacks have come out to attack you but their murderous trogladyte mentalities betray their true desires to murder maim and terrorise.

us intelligence used militrary grade nanothermite to destroy the world trade centers. the united states is a terrorist country which was implementing principles of operation northwood conceived the joint chiefs of staff in 1962 as creating a provocation to war against the ussr but specifically cuba.

it is extraordinary that the trogladytes deny their nation's murderous history and present and even endorse these criminal practices. torture did not save any lives. i can assure you that the cia and the newsfaking press conjured up the stories to make torture acceptable. it is a psyops game at which the cia in peerless.....

keep up the good work in standing up against evil. just remember that your tormentors are generally cia/nsa types who wish to keep americans as much in the dark about their terror as they do about their murder of jfk, mlk, and a host of other troublesome impediments to war and terror.

I have been sidelined for almost a year now researching the videos and analysis of 911. It is disturbing that the US population let those clowns rape their minds over the last 8 years. Many are coming around now and the backlash will be increasing as time passes.

Dick Cheney orchestrated the event. The 19 so called terrorists wer patsys. Do me one favor. Explain "Nano Thermite" in the Dust and explain the demolition of WTC 7. Huh bub?

America has lost her grace, that is if she ever had any.

Well that's not a very worthy theory.  Thermite is essentially iron oxide (rust) and aluminium, which wouldn't leave a different signature in "nano" form, especially considering the extreme environment involved.  Thermite residue could likely be detected without thermite actually having been present, because rust, aluminum, and high temeratures were all present.

I don't believe to mainstream media issued story either.  However, the financing is much more important than the termite residue.

Yes, he quotes sources that give opinions. He doesn't give sources that prove that US Forces shot kids, much less prove the kids existed in the first place.

Nor does he touch on the fact that if torture categorically does not work, and yet waterboarding does, then obviously waterboarding is not torture.

Unlimited incarceration of captured opponents during the course of a war is normal, and it was Al-Queda that declared this war some time ago. Other than not capturing them in the first place (cost=$.50 for one .308 round), what should we be doing with them?

Al-Queda started this war before Gitmo, before waterboarding. What seems to be helping recruit more terrorists is the folks released from Gitmo are telling them how soft a target we are. The smell of victory is what is attracting them.

Al-Queda started this war before Gitmo, before waterboarding.

Al-Qaeda traces its roots, at least in part, to the mujahideen.  The mujahideen were allegedly recipients of significant training and logistical/operational/financial support from the US/CIA.  All in order to fight the "boogeyman," aka USSR.  In so doing, of course, we created our next "boogeyman" (probably not by accident).  So, who started this war?  Just askin'.

What is clownfuckish is that you stubbornly adhere to the notion that financial industry woes are separate and distinct from political problems. They are one and the same. You just get fed a bunch of myths to keep you and your politcial, diametric opposites at each other's throats. Acceptance of these myths also prevents you and members of "the other side" from realizing the insidious interdependence (I actually prefer the term "one-ness") between finance and politics.

Here's a little experiment you can try at home.

Pick a neighbor, any neighbor.

Park your car in his driveway.

Park another car on his front lawn.

Pelt his home with sticks and stones.

Harass his children.

Harass his wife.

Observe said neighbor and report back here on how long it takes him to get "radicalized".

Can I play too!!

How about you load a truck full of fertilizer and fuel drive it to a building where his friends work blow it up but only kill 50-60 people.  Then spend a few years blowing up our embacies and navel ships kill a few hundred more.  Then to top it off hijack a couple of planes slam them into that building his friend and his girlfriend work in killing thousand's.  Then he gets to spend a day wondering if their alive while watching people jump out of a skyscraper rather then burn to death.  Then deal with the aftermath of that destruction.  Things like friends who work for the NYPD going to lots of funerals and having them ask you what the hell do you say to a kid who just lost his dad cause a building fell on him!

All of these things happened before your so called terrorist creating bad things.  In fact it is this kind of pathetic sniveling that brought about the escalation in the attacks as Bin Laden himself said he saw us as weak, a paper tiger.  Maybe if someone wasn't such a pussy and would have blown this piece of crap to his well deserved afterlife in the 90's we wouldn't have to worry about any of this shit and we could focus on the destrution of the world financial system by our government and an out of control banking cabal.

Using your logic I should go out get myself a few buddies some one way tickets to Dubai grab a few boxcutter's and slam a plane into that nice new foreclosure tower they just built.  All to prove that I'm a follower of the religion of "peace" funny I don't see any Buddist's, Hindu's or Amish strapping bombs on their children!!!
