Nine States Did Not File Initial Claims Data Due To Labor Day, Hundreds Of Thousands Of Estimates In Data "Beat"

Tyler Durden's picture

The BLS has announced that as a result of the Labor Day weekend, 9 states (among which the biggest one California) did not report initial claims data to the bean counters, so instead the government had to "estimate" what the data would have been: yep, estimate, what the data was in these nine states. From Bloomberg: "For the latest reporting week, nine states didn’t file claims data to the Labor Department in Washington because of the Labor Day holiday earlier this week, a department official told reporters. California and Virginia estimated their figures and the U.S. government estimated the other seven." Official data is now made up on the fly. This US economic data reporting has just entered the twilight zone. Also, when the data is officially made up, it is not that difficult to get data that is "better than expected." The full list of states is: DC, Illinois, Idaho, Hawaii, Oklahoma, Michigan, and Washington. California and Virginia estimated themselves.

It's been readily apparent on my end for at least the past year...every time I go out to the local watering hole for a few, I'm mobbed by various acquaintances asking me if I have any work.  In another horribly telling aspect, they come from all walks of occupational life.  Given that I run a landscaping company, which is traditionally the butt-end of the manual labor sector, I don't even want to think about the implications too much.  It's sort of like looking over the edge of the universe and straight down into the fires of hell.

On the flip side, I still don't worry about it very much...nothing would please me more than to finally see this entire puppet-show collapse under its own weight.  We've put it off for a long time...decades, perhaps, but I think we're getting close to the point at which the absurdity of the official "good news" is becoming so blatant that even the most sterile and placated mind can't deny it much longer.

So one fifth of the states respondents fudged the numbers.

Common sense would suggest using the average of the previous five months reporting, which would at least be based on something. Did they provide their methodology for generating the "plug" amount for those with missing numbers?

Acknowledging the fudged initial claims report just speaks volumes about what kind of idiots are out there.

If you want to stop this right now, maybe it would be a

good idea if everyone stopped going to work in an

organized manner. This means stop paying all bills, mortgages,

any kind of loans or credit cards...don't pay out anything.

What are they going to do...put everyone in jail? This

country is already toast...the sooner something like this

is done, the sooner we can get back to a more ethical

and moral system...otherwise, it will continue until it falls

from it's own toxicity...and then, guess what...dump city

and their forum of merry bankers will provide a solution

(remember it is they who created what we have now)

that will attempt to enslave us even more. There is no debt if we

decide not to pay it. It's as simple as it gets.

How fucking typical of the government though that a 1 day holiday meant that they were unable to do what they were supposed to do that week. What, the holiday snuck up on them? They're so busy with all the other 'work' they have to do that they couldn't compile the numbers? Shouldn't it be autofuckingmatic?

The public sector mentality around a long weekend usually works like this (for a monday holiday):

Friday will be blown off by just about everyone because they're winding down from the long weekend.

Tuesday will be blown off by just about everyone because they've just come back from a long weekend.

The week before is now a 4 day week, they've convinced themselves you can't get anything done in a 4 day week so they don't bother. The week of the holiday is now a 3 day week, which is even worse than a 4 day week, so no point bothering trying to achieve anything that week either.

Suddenly your 1 day holiday has gone from a long weekend, to two weeks of the government getting absolutely nothing done.

Another win for independent media which explains the scramble by the corporates to use their political captures to shut down the emergence of a trend which is only snowballing. People are suckers for the truth and every day that passes one more person is converted and they impart their knowledge to another individual caught up on the modern day version of the Matrix.

When everything seems to align with the interests of banks, conglomerates to the detriment of the middle class on a daily basis and news articles from the propaganda machine have reached a point where they can be predicted before hand in an effort to distract or give credibility to the desired spin it ceases to be a coincidence. The Internet was the wrench in their machine since now the information is flying too fast for them to track and it is hitting people enmasse instantly. It allows for collaboration of ideas and scrutiny of the tricks that used to work that have led to our arrival at this destination point where the elites continue to fool us once last time even though we have every bit of evidence to the contrary that their central planning is leading us to serfdom. How many times do they get to be wrong and who buys their excuses any longer?

The answer is nobody unless they are distracted and cannot even be pointed in the right direction to find the truth and this is why we have seen such a growing trend in reality retardation because they have to now revert to outright manufactured drama and fairytales..anything to prevent the average Joe & Jane from finding the true causation of all our economic pains and that is the Federal Reserve and banking interest using their political pawns.

They must not permit assets to become affordable and the wealth gap must increase. When you acknowledge that the lies, false financial regulation, zero indictments for the bankers, 24 Trillion in bailouts, Federal Reserve buying stocks, Fannie & Freddie receivership, CNBC lies, falsified data, prevention of a full Federal Audit, continued IMF bailouts, forged Euro stress tests, 2nd delay of FASB 166/167, Mark to Market suspension and BASEL III delay once again all make sense.

The results are all right here in front of you:

Stocks Rise on Fake Stats

New York (AP) - Wall Street insiders continue to buy into markets today after more evidence was released this morning that the government will pump markets higher by any means possible, regardless of the true underlying state of the economy. While average investors without the stomach for this shit exit the markets in record numbers, those "in the know" continue to revel in the synthetic circle jerk that the financial markets have become.

If you do a poor or deceitful job in government - nothing happens.

This is why things are really falling apart.  This is why people can't/won't make plans.

When I saw the release of the claims # this morning my BS detector went off so I came right to ZH to try to discern the latest trickery. CNBC et all are useless for this. The sharp decline just dosentjive with all the other data.

I must say my BS meter pegged and started smoking when the truth came to light.

The most basket case underwater states in the union, happened to be the ones that just couldnt get the numbers out on time; AND

These states had sudden miraculous drops in claims; AND

Better off states DIDNT have sudden turnarounds; AND

The Dow is at a critical resistance level and gets ramped.

And so on..Too godamn many coincidences for even a non-PHD like myself to swallow.

Noteworthy is the fact the MSM is either glossing over or ignoring the story.

Also, since this is supposedly a contentious critical mid term season, why arent the Repubs at least hinting that the dems are fudging the #s?

Because IMO, the GOP, the DEMS, The PDs, The Fed and the MSM are all on the same page and dont really have too damn many differences since the connected all have it made in the shade.

Theyll save thier fights for gay marriage, abortion, school prayer and crap like that while  keeping their gravy train going full steam by staying away from any issue that threatens their common interest of fucking over the working class.

Sorry for the incoherent rant, but Im actually very upset right now.

I guess no one ever told you that the key to happiness is lowered expectations!

Honestly, this behavior shouldn't surprise anyone.

Oh, and it's only going to get worse (which is why nobody is spilling the beans).

It's just the worlds largest game of chicken. As long as things don't get bad enough that somebody reacts, then things hopefully won't get bad enough that somebody has to react.

Then, when they do, they get blamed for destroying everything!

Like all confidence games, maintenance of the facade is paramount. Right now, they just gotta keep it going until after mid-terms.

I just saw CNBC while on a quick lunch break and Art Cashin came on to offer his thoughts on why the market was giving back its earlier gains, and among other sensible observations he said (paraphrasing): "well, the blogosphere is very critical of this employment report, pointing out that some states haven't reported, also the problem with Labor Day being in there, and they're not buying it."

He also said volume is vapors: "we'll be lucky to get to 800MM." Now it is the Jewish New Year celebrations so you'd expect some traders out with family . . .

CONFIRM: Cashin is a Zero Hedge reader, if not a fan. Don't tell GE.

Just reported this to the OIG of the DOL:

Inspector General,

I would like to lodge a complaint againist the DOL, BLS for fraud and deception that effects the United Stated Citizens.  That Fraud is the BLS "Unemployment Reports" of weekly claims, new and ongoing.  For the last 6 months the BLS statics on these UE Reports have been revised UP from the original release .. 90 PERCENT OF THE TIME!!!  Either somebody is uncompetent at a 90% rate or there is fraud going on.  The Stock Markets are pivoting on UE numbers so they need to be CORRECT, and not POLITICALLY CORRECT.

There are two other problems, the first is the stupid and disproved "Birth/Death" model.  Totally antiquated and totally wrong, and TOTALLY OVERESTIMATES THE REPORTS OF THE EMPLOYMENT, so it understates UNEMPLOYMENT.  That is another problem with the 90% wrong rating on the UE reports.  Additional problems with the Birth/Death model and the way the BLS compiles and uses the data is wrong as well.  They ar reporting an incorrect 9.6% Unemployment, yet this does not include all thos "unemployed", if it did we would have 16.7% Unemployment and THAT is the number that would change all, but it is not politically correct to tell that particular truth.  If you add in ALL those that are having emplyment with underemployed that number is around 22%.  That is one in 5 working Aemericans.  WHY IS THE DOB BLS NOT REPORTING THIS????  TAXPAYERS NEED THIS INFORMATION AND CONFIRMATION TO MAKE PROPER DECISIONS.  This is not only for the consumption of the political ruling class, it BELONGS TO US< the UNITED STATES CITIZENS!!!!!

The very last item is the glaring idiocy that came out this week, using "estimates (of the above flawed data) to show a "good number.  9 states did not have their numbers for the unemployment, and California and VIrginia did their estimates, however the DOL  BLS did the estimates for the other 7 states.  If this number is so important they need to get it right and stop all the estimating.  The proof will be the next revision that has a 90% chance of being lower than the original  report released.

This needs cleaned up.  Everybody here in the rest of American sees this for the farcical, incompetent, and fraudulent activity that it is, and WE ARE PAYING FOR IT!  CLEAN IT UP and GET DOLs ACT TOGETHER.  Or close the doors if they are going to be this incompetent or corrupt.  We simply do not need to pay for this.
