No Bail For DSK, Next Court Hearing May 20
As Daily Telegraph reporter Jon Swaine notes via Twitter, DSK has been denied bail, and has been remanded to stay in custody until the next grand jury hearing which is due for May 20. Looks like DSK will now be mugshotted and stay in jail for 4 days. And so the IMF continues to be headed by a man about to spend 72 hours in prison.

Funny thing about him being a flight risk - the head of the IMF based in Washington! As for all the assertions about him "fleeing" the scene of the crime, that too is ridiculous.
He boarded flight 23 to Paris at 4pm Saturday (10pm Paris Saturday) due to arrive there Sunday morning (~5-6am Sunday local time, flight duration 7-8hrs). He had a meeting with Angela Merkel in Berlin on Sunday morning, so even if the meeting had convened at 11:59am, he would have had just enough time to go home, shave, change and pop out again to catch another flight to Berlin (Flight duration 1hr 35mins) to make it. It's seriously close, so I doubt he was even planning to go home when he arrived in Paris. Is that "fleeing", or trying to make a very hard schedule?

debate on french TV on DSK affair revealed :
1° Room in Sofitel cost USD 569, not 3000, paid by personal credit card (not IMF as private trip).
2° He didn't run away as retained by judge, as he checked out at 12.28 from hotel, had lunch with daughter, took taxi to airport, rang up hotel to ask about hand phone he had forgotten in room, then drove to airport to catch scheduled flight, 4.30 pm(?). So it appears it was not a scramble to run out of hotel after alleged rape sequence at 12 mid-day. The judge did not consider this sufficient to allow him bail against handing over of passport and a security bracelet. ....Lady Judge have a grudge?
3° Defense has no access to attorney's data file on which charges based. So could not respond before judge at this point in procedure. Tight lipped defense attorneys said nothing to judge in defense to refute charges in detail, notably allowing the bail option.
