No Bail For DSK, Next Court Hearing May 20

Tyler Durden's picture

As Daily Telegraph reporter Jon Swaine notes via Twitter, DSK has been denied bail, and has been remanded to stay in custody until the next grand jury hearing which is due for May 20. Looks like DSK will now be mugshotted and stay in jail for 4 days. And so the IMF continues to be headed by a man about to spend 72 hours in prison.

IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn, better known as DSK, was having lunch with his daughter at the time when the sexual assault he is alleged to have committed supposedly took place, his lawyers say, according to French radio RMC.

DSK can plead like only a frenchman can, 'I'm too big to fit into her tiny mouth."

Hey, the courtroom scene could be interesting.

Funny thing about him being a flight risk - the head of the IMF based in Washington! As for all the assertions about him "fleeing" the scene of the crime, that too is ridiculous.

He boarded flight 23 to Paris at 4pm Saturday (10pm Paris Saturday) due to arrive there Sunday morning (~5-6am Sunday local time, flight duration 7-8hrs). He had a meeting with Angela Merkel in Berlin on Sunday morning, so even if the meeting had convened at 11:59am, he would have had just enough time to go home, shave, change and pop out again to catch another flight to Berlin (Flight duration 1hr 35mins) to make it. It's seriously close, so I doubt he was even planning to go home when he arrived in Paris. Is that "fleeing", or trying to make a very hard schedule?

'The man is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law'. - How's that then? If an innocent man is found guilty by a Court of Law then he must have been guilty before he was found guilty unless he was stiched up. Anyway, the French do it the other way whereby you are guilty unless you can prove you're innocent.

really? you are as french as german, its presumption of innocence and burden of proof on procurer (attorney); but he can direct the police enquiry (juge d'instruction inquisitorial procedure). In theory both to develop the case to accuse and that to defend the accused. Ie: a balanced procedure; which of course is not the case when the suspect is on hi-charged, hi-profile public opinion agenda, like rape, pedophilia, child murder etc.

Like all arms salesmen...what you forget to mention is that upon demand of Mrs Thatcher, François Mitterrand, french president,  gave to the UK forces the details of the Exocet guidance system allowing them to subsequently bring down those very Exocet missiles he had sold to the Argentinian military junta, that had initially caused the pain! So, thats for the bit of history... amongst 'gangsta' war mongering european nations who like to practice gunboat diplomacy. The guy's a Sarkozy mouthpiece...don't believe every thing he says..but he has a point as DSK is special Don Juan type material. An oligarchic time bomb.

DSK is a serial fukker...and the french know it...But as for this NY escapade, the balls are still up in the air...we never know who pulls the strings...and who obeys. The NYPD is as bright as the french police...they do what they're told to the US army fights in Iraq, Afgh/PAk and before, fought in Viet/Laos/CAm. You know ...that great LBJ/RN/HK little side show war...before they learnt to play ping pong with MAO. Its time to bring the US world charade based on unlimited debt to an end..let's hope the world won't go from bad to worse. But its inevitable that these Oligarchs all end up in the sin bin. Like those Roman Caesars of old.

This thing is bigger than DSK, its the unwinding of the Euro/USD/Yen ponzi triad...before our very eyes. The US has hotted up the political option in order to preempt the financial option that DSK was trying to install in the north-south stand off by finding a compromise between big banks and big government in the Euro PIGS that WS didn't like. It had further ramifications in the ME. He was power broker in the mega debt generated oligarchic crisis he became part of in 2007 as GM IMF, but which existed since the debt machine hotted up under RR. Thirty years... and what to do get...another year older and deeper in debt...So voilà in the lady judge...daughter of Judicial USA. Not that DSK doesn't deserve now he's part of it..but it will start the Oligarch's war between USA and EU and bring down the whole damn show... the knives are out...and all they know how to do it... is print...

But this is all a pipe dream and it be a holly wood film.

un apercu interéssant, merci

I'm not an expert, but I would guess the big issue at the IMF is who grabs the collateral for the digital loans they dole out from Ben's or Tree-shay's computer to the countries who go begging to them on all fours to prevent a sovereign debt crisis. And who earns commissions on all the transactions. WS of course.

Mon, 05/16/2011 - 16:02 | 1280390 falak pema

Anybody who knows how to count knows as of today that only China finances the western debt ponzi generated by the Oligarchs in USA/EU/Japan debt binge. Now all the latter can do is hock their own people, bring them down to third world buying power level. So officially, when a US soldier fights anywhere, he should be saying thank you in chinese, to the people who finance the US ponzi. Its only normal that they get annoyed with the US on increasing basis, keeping in mind that US still holds big military stick...that they can't finance; like a four hour erection that TD evoked in another context...Costs money! The blue pill that feeds the military complex hard on!

The GS margins are like fat on a overweight middle aged'll all have to melt or he'll die young.

Wonder what Brafman's and Taylor's combined billing rates are. $1000 per hour?  € accepted?

Brafman's alone is $2,000 to $3,000 per hour, easily.

But that's elite air for a criminal defense attorney, and doesn't hold a candle to what someone like, say, a Steve Cohen or a Jim Simons makes on an hourly basis.

They say the next IMF boss will be a chink. In which case you can be sure he will do to the US monetary bosses what you suggest as your most ardent wish...

Brafman probably exceeds $1000/hour himself.

While we're at it, let's throw some other criminals with him that have been raping the masses: Bernanke, Geithner, Paulson, Rubin, Goldman, JPM, BofA, MS, central bankers, G20 finance ministers, etc.

debate on french TV on DSK affair revealed :

1° Room in Sofitel cost USD 569, not 3000, paid by personal credit card (not IMF as private trip).

2° He didn't run away as retained by judge, as he checked out at 12.28 from hotel, had lunch with daughter, took taxi to airport, rang up hotel to ask about hand phone he had forgotten in room, then drove to airport to catch scheduled flight, 4.30 pm(?). So it appears it was not a scramble to run out of hotel after alleged rape sequence at 12 mid-day. The judge did not consider this sufficient to allow him bail against handing over of passport and a security bracelet. ....Lady Judge have a grudge?

3° Defense has no access to attorney's data file on which charges based. So could  not respond before judge at this point in procedure. Tight lipped defense attorneys said nothing to judge in defense to refute charges in detail, notably allowing the bail option.

actually, DSK was one of the few good guys in the banking business.

he's a seducer, he admited that, not a rapist.

and for those who think he's a socialist, think again. compared to him, Obama is Lenin himself :)
