Now the Kashkari Puff Piece Makes Perfect Sense
And you called us cynical for calling the Washington Post piece a public relations plant.
In addition to hiring a top equity team, we have also recognized the need for an experienced person to work closely with PIMCO’s Executive Committee to lead our entry into this and other new businesses over time. Accordingly, Neel Kashkari is joining us on December 14 to lead new investment initiatives. Neel will be based in our Newport Beach office.

HA! Too funny. The tentacles grow.
Since you won't say it for yourself Marla, I'll say it for you.
TOLD YOU SO.
Reading ZH is like being a part of the physic friends network.
"the physic friends network"
ROFLMFAO!!!!!
Almost "shit my pants" reading that one!!!
Marla also predicted that and had TP standing by...
The Physic Friends...I imagine they would be sortof like the Geek Squad, except they help out scientists with quantum mechanical problems.
Not quite.
They come to your house and bring along an enema kit, to help "out" with a different kind of problem.
Semi-literacy and the tiny Blackberry keyboard often combine to produce a good laugh.
Okay smart ass, the word is psychic, not physic.
That's why I read ZH, most people here are smarter than I am.
Marla and company do have a way of predicting the future. This keeps me coming back for more.
And speaking of being dressed down, what ever happened to Cheeky Bastard.
No offense intended.
Thanks to you and Faustian for the laughs.
None taken. My avatar is a good representation of what a lot of people call me, especially family and friends.
And so the revolving door between government and the financial types it oversees noww passes through a vacation in the woods near Lake Tahoe -- oops, "an enlightening self-actualization wood chopping ritual in the wilderness?"
Gubmint to Truckee to Newport Beach in under a year. Horatio Alger would be pleased, no.......??
Well I guess that means Neel has even more "quickly established himself as Not the 'go-to' person" for completing log-cabins on time.............
Hope there isn't a mortgage on that property.
I wonder if he sent his wife to the atm like El Erian (sic) when everything went to shit ?
Could denial of such be a prerequisite for employment cuz we gotta keep that quiet ?
Neel will lead us through the loopholes he created and allow us to gouge the taxpayer at a more accelerated pace..
Again, to the victor goes the spin. Who isn't captured in financial media?
You're looking at it (along with the links on the left).
except for the big picture, angry bear, and max keiser.
Ha, that was good....I guess he's basically set for life but he's just a lapdog basically told what to do.
he's just a lapdog
correction: he's still a chump
Maybe Neel was sent to report back on Morgan's puchase of Cresent 07/07, when everything started melting. So now MS is packing 1000s of unsalable acres in and around Truckee and Northstar.
New Ritz just opened while other minor property owners around it are going under.
wooo hoooo!
CNBC just reported this via "Breaking News." Block their IP address already.
Oh you know? I read that f'n article and actually had a bit of respect for a second... seeing his PimCo buyout? Nope, more soulless than ever.
+1 for me, too; got juked outta my shoes by that article. oh well, at least WE know the area where he lives, lol.
These incestuous relationships always make me smile.
Congratulations Kneel! Good boy!
It is incest, most exactly. And as they drift into an ever narrowing genepool, it is my sincerest hope that will be what does them in.
If it doesn't do us in first.
It is doing them in already MsCreant and my proof is the rising Gold price. The criminals are losing the gold war. Think about it - anybody who is long Gold has taken money DIRECTLY from the big banks short Gold and wounded them (yeah, they can create as much as they want out of thin air but then again it dilutes the value of their franchise as they print more of it so it's still a "loss" I guess plus you can buy more physical gold from that funny-munny it if you are levered). They have injured exactly those who need to be injured - our mortal enemies - the big banks. No poor and destitute people were harmed in your being long Gold - only the criminal banks.
This was a great post. WTF?
Who ever junked Gordon's post to me is a coward. Gordon can be insulting and over the top at times and I can see where someone might want to junk him to tell him to ease up. There is nothing in this post that is offensive. Nothing.
So who's bitch are you, coward? Afraid Gordon will ream your ass if you come out of the shadows and make an honest stand for your point of view? Can't handle the heat at fight club?
He didn't hide when the price of gold was down. He stuck around to defend his thesis.
I have posted before that I have decided that gold is political for me. I have also been a bit of a noob as of late, Gordons just reminding me of why I'm in the game with the position I have.
So tell me, sniveling roach, (you can post anon if you need to, stay safe in the shadows) why did you junk this?
The only people I can see who might want to junk this are the criminals he is referencing, or shills for the criminals he is referencing.
It wasn't me, but feel free to take it out on me, though, if you need to let it out... Everyone else does, especially when I say something that doesnt' fit with conventional ZH contributions - like this:
This is a DAMN SMART MOVE by PIMCO. Damn smart! For as much clout and heft as PIMCO has in the investment world, this not only gives them a chance to fortify their stance, but also to expand their footprint.
Very savvy. He and El Erian will get along very nicely, I imagine.
@Ms you got passion. me loves.
Bravo MsCreant.
I do love it when someone can dress down others with grace and style, even if it's me on the receiving end.
I'm sure Marla is proud of you. Keep it up.
So your end (in the photo) is receiving?
Sorry to be such a bitch. Did you flag the Gekko? If so, I'd like to understand it because I don't.
No, no. I didn't do it either. But you can trash me anytime you like. Dr. Horace Manure
I'm pretty sure the bankers are putting half their filthy paper money into physical gold as well. They won't lose easily.
Newswire: December 7, 2009. The Discovery channel announces new reality show: "Pimp my insolvent bank".
Can a bunch of boneheaded burecracts turn an old dilapidated bank into dream bank? Watch as the drama unfolds: Which Burecrats get rich and who gets to go to jail.
One toke over the line, sweet Bill, one toke over the line. Time for you to put the bong down and allow us to smoke some to be able to handle what's coming. This is nuts.
At the risk of repeating myself I will say this:
NYTimes and Washington Post are the State mouthpieces of the US Government much like Xinhua is the mouthpiece of the Chinese government - and it has been that way for much longer than you might think. Free and independent press my ass! Not in America there ain't none.
* 700 billion.
If I had an ounce of gold for every time in the past two years I've exclaimed "what the fuck!", you could call me Fort Knox.
Agree, reading ZH is like being in the Psychic Friends Network. Or perhaps the Cassandra Network since you can tell your friends what's going to happen and they still won't listen to you...
The "Pimp My Insolvent Bank" show nearly made milk come out my nose (and I wasn't even drinking milk).
I had in fact just finished reading the Kashkari puff piece, which made me suspicious since most 36 yr olds have enough means to retire indefinitely. Plus, helping Paulson with his book? What a devoted lickspittle. Then seeing the "Welcome to PIMCO" article confirmed my suspicions that he's a soldier turd of epic proportions. Think he'll be packing heat in El Lay like his other GS bretheren in NY?
P.S. Did you know: Prior to his career in finance, Mr. Kashkari was a R&D Principal Investigator at TRW in Redondo Beach, California where he developed technology for NASA space science missions such as the James Webb Space Telescope."
"since most 36 yr olds have enough means to retire indefinitely"...huh?
I presume the implication was intended to be 36 year old's with high profile careers in finance. Taken in any other way, the comment doesn't make a whole lot of sense, I agree.
..and the Captain Video Mysto Decoder Ring, too:

"The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who have not got it." -George Bernard Shaw
Gives new meaning to the old axiom of "what you see - is what you get"!
Fascism Defined: Take a Big Government job, orchestrate the distribution of the $700 Billion Tarp program, draft laws that help your business friends and harm their competitions, fill the coffers of all of your friends treasure chest....leave government....work for those you just gave $700 Billion for....find someone you trust to fill your spot in government that you can call on from your new private job...
You left out the "build log cabin in the woods and reflect on the meaning of life for a few months, (ala H.D. Thoreau)" step.
Tell me again why slaves/minions being transferred among various compartments of USS CRIMERICA is of ANY importance to us whatsoever?
Is PIMCO the new Goldman? Only a matter of time before Bill Gross takes a role with the FED or treasury. Wait, with PIMCO managing almost a trillion, isn't that a lateral move?
Actually, why am I being cynical? It makes perfect sense for a bond fund to hire a failed ex goverment official to manage a new venture into equities.
I would argue that Goldman and PIMCO are trying to become the 21st century Bechtel Corp.
this is truly evil
he already blew up once (pun intended) now he will be placed in a position of trust again. I'M THINKING FUTURE FALL GUY there will have to be some perps, thrown to the wolves, before this is over. he is a chump, perfect patsy, risk transfer. pimco's gonna pull some more shit, IMO paulson used him. he's the lee harvey oswald, of this operation. he's a weak link, he would crumble under cross examination. I would prep him for suicide, (in his little mountain cabin, with a bag of doritos, and a diet coke.) go long doritos. whats the wife look like? maybe El Erian is boning her. just trying to understand. wait a minute, I get it, this is evidence that employment is picking up.
What a pile of reeking horse manure that "Into The Wild" bullshit story about crazy Neel and his crazy world of TARP, Hank Paulson & Friends, and time off in the woods to contemplate his navel after his oh-so-grueling experience in the public sector mastering the oh so arcane details of phucking over the taxpayer. May he accidentally cross the path of twin grizzly cubs in the woods, just as the mother bear realizes they have wandered off.
Truly evil is not even the beginning of what this sort of nonsense is about. Just another soulless phuck Working For The Clampdown. I've had enough of these pricks.
"What a pile of reeking horse manure..."
I agree totally, but please, do you have to get my name involved with them?
Teach our twisted speech, to the young believers.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7HwwA2x3Qs
got that right
That was a financial report? What cretin wrote that? It sounds like Celebrity gossip news. Is that the kind of writing they teach in Business School these days?
"Paris needs to lose weight to get into her bikini at Newport Beach this summer..." I mean:
"Neel 'Sticky TARP Fingers' Kashkari needs to lose weight to get into her bikini at Newport Beach this summer..."
At least "Sticky TARP Fingers" Kashkari can use surf board sex wax to polish up his baldy chrome dome.
the only skill set needed anymore is access to Treasury and the Fed. Political appointees tried and proven to be immeasurably corruptible can claim the biggest coin!
Gonna gets me too much KASH 2 KARI!
Does that mean that deflation is gonna set in and bonds are going to be a winner?
a couple of observations about the article...
1. Learn to use an axe, Neel. There's no need to be breaking a perfectly good wooden axe for the photo op. Oh, and quit mentioning how therapeutic it is... maybe the first day or two on the ranch it was... after that it's just another friggin' chore.
2. I guess the paperwork he was doing in one of the photos was his HR packet for Pimco.
3. Washington Post, really? Do we need a 20-photo slideshow of Neel Kashkari's life in Truckee? Maybe Japanese whale hunting or Darfur, or even IED missions in Iraq are worth 20 photos. Neel Kashkari is definitely unworthy
4. Note to self: Self, when my CEO gets appointed to a high-level government job, just ring him up and ask to come along. It worked for Neel, I'm sure it can work for me.
If I had known that worm was in Truckee... I would have picked up a couple of Bubbas from Rio Linda and drove up with some pitchforks and torches...
What is up with the fed's hair problems? One has no eye brows. One has huge eyebrows but no hair. One has normal eyebrows some hair and beard. It's like they have to use a razor everyday to keep the snakes from growing out of their head.
ROTFLMAO
The WaPo article alone was sufficient for me to write this rant:
"Extreme Makeover : WaPo Edition"
http://outsidethe-cardboard-box.tumblr.com/post/273227581/extreme-makeover-wapo-edition
If I had known about the PIMCO deal before I had a chance to vent, I'd be sitting in a clock tower surrounded by a RIT team right now.........
It just does not end.....
Hell of a rant.
A guy tries his best....hehe
good stuff.
Thanks! Had fun writing it. I sanitize most of my posts so found it cathartic to unleash...hahaha....I still can't get over the smarm of that WaPo article though....wow
“We were counting on each other,” Kashkari recalls now at the Truckee gym.
any 0hedger in the area want a free gym membership for a month in return for some juicy utubes starring kashmoney? if so, i'm open to an arrangement, but we gotta hurry.
The textual fellation of repugnant fascist overlords by house propaganda conduits will continue until morale improves.
Won't the bears still get him?
+100 Awesome.
In the woods or the city, damn straight, the bears will find him.
I posted the ZH link along with the following comment at Roubini's:
PIMCO came out with the Kashkari hiring announcement today. The WP piece came out yesterday. There it is mentioned that Kash would start a new job in the financial services industries. Why couldn't they say it was at PIMCO?
Now I understand why the guy was in California. While reading the WP article, I could never understand how an Ohio guy ended up in California. As I read the article I kept waiting for an explanation on how he got to California, how he got the land.
Now I believe I know: It would appear he landed the job at PIMCO and then moved to Califirnia; with the detox routine been part of the deal with the detox routine, perhaps, even suggested by zen type Gross:-)
In my mind, the probability of some unknown quid pro quo (a Pim Pro Quo?) has soared. But I'm not buying into the Shed Zen aspect. More likely to me is he was too hot to hire at the time they struck the bargain.....
Were the dogs a package deal, too? Hope they piss on the high-pitch squeal of Bill Gross.
