O-Team Atomic Robots Send Junk Flying
Not only did we get the Obama "resubstantiation" rally, but the Program Robots went absolutely wild today, sending the companies closest to bankruptcy into Outer Space.
Some eyepopping gains here:
Courtesy of the "new breed" of traders now manning the desks at Harvard Endowment, TIAA-CREF, CalPERS, etc.

Its really all about motion-chasing and gunning the lowest priced stocks which have the highest beta. The only way to "make your year" and catch up after the horrific losses incurred in 2008.
After all, private equity is dead. Real estate is dead. Venture capital is dead.
Why is that? Because none of those items can be instantly bought and sold with a mouse click.
And how else are these Monster energy gulping traders supposed to make money in bonds yielding between 1% and 4%? Unless they daytrade the TLT with some type of Hi-Fi program and scalp a few pips every tenth of a second during a normal trading day.
At the request of deadhead, here's a secret look at Margaret Brennan of Bloomberg. No telling what these plain, simple, librarian types look like underneath....

No doubt, some "enterprising speculator" who has a penchant for these understated types will be taking her off Bloomberg's payroll, to be safely ensconced in a Park Ave. flat somewhere, so that at the end of the day, he can come home to this:

CORS getting smoked after hours...
CORS action starting at 3:30 was hysterical....is that the start of a new cit, fnm, fre, c type of trade? Or did sheila bair find someone to buy that piece of shit somehow to avoid tapping the geithner heloc....
EDIT....checked news after original post....NYTimes reports...."that regulators were looking to "cleave the bank in two and sell its banking operations and condominium loans separately."
This is the third time in the past month that details have emerged in advance of a large bank's failure."
maybe third time is a charm?
Robo, that bottom picture has to be Cora Skinner. Hottest chick on this planet

Bankruptcy Schmankruptcy. Taxpayer got your back
Love you robo
And I'm the guy in the pink corset.
wow...best lookin tranny i've ever seen!!
No RobotTrader post without the obligatory scantily clad babe pic - I appreciate your style, sir! :-)
I swore off the TV cheerleaders a while back, but the noon hour with Maggie is still a must. More Maggie RT if at all possible.
Love your recaps.
Robo, Can you please put a "NSFW" tag in posts that have questionable material (inappropriate pics). Believe it or not, some of us are still employed -- I'd like to keep it that way without having to eschew ZH. Thanks.
that pic is not considered NSFW by most internet standards as well as companies. a lunchroom Cosmo probably has worse.
but, just to be safe, assume anything in Robo's column might have a spicy picture.

"Fool humans, there is no escape."
A thousand thank you's for a peek at what the librarian next door girl is like.....may your long term, all in AIG position skyrocket higher than Obama's deficit.
To return the favor, some advice appropriate for our current US equity markets from The Grateful Dead.....
"...when life looks like easy street, there is danger at your door."
Uncle John's Band
Workingman's Dead Album (how appropriate.......)
LOVE the Dead quote. Need it while this crap is going on.
I am mystified. Did buy gold a while back though so I'm happy there. No so happy with the shorts, where I keep getting killed. (Ned, why are you touching the hot stove over and over again? Because it's not supposed to be hot. The freaking power is off. )
So, bad news = who cares didn't you get the recovery memo, Treasuries endlessly issuing = not an issue, economy not recovering = recovering, black = white, night = day, madness = sanity and zero = one. OK. OK. I can handle that. OK.
not surprised at all that an old business lawyer like you would appreciate the Dead quote! not sure if he is a lawyer or not, but the main man running the US Senate Judiciary committee is a big Deadhead....Pat Leahy.
Don't know if you saw my response to your post the other nite on the bac/sec mess, but your analysis of the very long winded response by bac's attorney was spot on.
Ned, the market is always right. Cover. You can get back in anytime.

I long for a day when fundamentals, or even the tiniest smidgen of reality, makes a difference to the stock market.
Today is not that day.
Tomorrow will not be, either.
Careless Whisper is right. Obey the market and make money. You can't fight the good fight if you're broke.
Well, although I appreciate the railing againt the Plunge Protection team Robocops...there's no point in fightin the tape.
Keep net long...and be ready for gettin the Hell out of Dodge when time comes.
This joke may well shoot to S&P 1100 in a week or so..if just a hint of top of the line returns the next quarter is gonna look (as fake as it maybe..) stellar.
The rampers-up will have a field day.
This is when the collapse will start. When all the hardcore bears start trading from the long side.
That is when the market will finally have a decent sell off......when all the hardcore bears give in and start to trade from the long side. Anyone see anything about the call option volume in BMRN? I bought some this morning after seeing it and got a nice pop today for some cushion. Looks like they are presenting something at MS on Tuesday. Maybe next DNDN? Anybody else in there on this one?
LOL - You are blaming this ramp on Obama? Jesus Christ that guy never even took Econ 101, he wouldn't know where to start.
But he's holding the gun saying, "Yeah, I know I don't understand a fucking thing, but just make it go up, o.k. Ben...and you, too, GS guy, help out Ben would ya please."
In Pat Leahy's case you're confusing deadhead w/bonehead. He winds his IQ up to 85 on a good day.
less words more pictures please.
Yes, yet another bubble is being blown (how many in this decade?) through easy money, massive debt, money printing, debasing the currency, and various other financial shenanigans on Wall Street, in Washington, and at the Fed…
Once again, just like the bubble which recently burst so disastrously, it is in all asset classes all over the world.
And, of course, it will (once again) end very badly. Hey, I’m as cynical as anyone about the ongoing train wreck -- probably much, much more.
But that’s no reason not to be wildly bullish!!!
(Disclaimer: The preceding announcement was made with tongue firmly in cheek, and was intended for entertainment purposes only. Any other interpretation, rebroadcast, or reuse is strictly prohibited by Major League Baseball.)
It looks like a JUNK bubble. But I suspect commodities...
A lot of speculation recently about the shape of the new Bubble. A GREEN bubble? No...too unconvincing. Housing? You're joking. Government debt? Still puffing...
My bet is: essentials and commodities. Get into food, ag commodities, natural gas, maybe base metals. And of course, gold.
Robo - I think Bloomys Betty Liu might be feeling left out. Here are a couple of screen shots:

High beta chasers are coming out in full force...nice ending to your post. :)
dead stock flying alert.
Barclays put overweight on AXL....LOL
Buyers of these stocks are behaving like the Indian Ghost Dancer description Hill put forth in 1907 describing the run up of Northern Pacific from $112 to $1000 in a short time. He said "The Indians begin their dance and don't know why they are doing it. They whirl around until they are almost crazy."
Trading these death fart stocks is the same thing.
