Excessive Democracy in the US has created runaway entitlements, runaway prices for medical services, and ballooning (politically) unstoppable deficits.
It took a few hundred years to get around to it, but eventually the people saw they could vote themselves goodies from the treasury and ruin the whole experiment. Today we're there, with more than half of the electorate paying no federal taxes or actually receiving money from the treasury.

It's worse than having a full out military invasion because the economic genocide that these institutions engage in are harder to see and so many suffer without it being seen by the world.
The final stage is set for his final attack and inevitable downfall.
Give O credit, on his watch the leadership of Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Tunisia and likely Syria will be replaced for a lot less$ and a few hundred thousand less corpses than it cost to depose Sadam. Like any politician, O is taking all the credit, whether or not any of this was a US strategy.
