Sure enough, within hours of the rumored Senate "deal" on the Chained CPI which will magically whack off $500 billion from the deficit, here comes the president to address the debt talks, most likely praising Senate for reaching a consensus, and spinning it as a $3.7 trillion grand compromise which in reality is nothing but even more plundering from not only the future, but from those who are most reliant on COLA adjustments to keep up with real CPI. I actually wasted a vote on this guy back in 2008 (thinking he was less of a moron then the brain-dead John McCain and that creepy running mate of his)
I gotta tell you though...I actaully got swept up into the whole "this guy is gonna level the playing field for the little guy and get us back to a sensible forgeing policy, common-sense regulations on banking and finance, push forward bold initiatives on conservation and infrastructure and start demanding that we do things in a fundamentally different way than we have for the last 30 years" bullshit.
I mean christ-almighty, this guy had a once in a century opportunity to become a GREAT leader....the nation was ready for a complete overhaul of how we do things and would have probably done anything he asked as long as they thought it would make us a more fair, just and equitable nation.
Instead, he got in there...continued and expanded the wars and the destruction of the constitution which has been ongoing for 30 years. Kept all of the corporate welfare in place, did NOTHING for infrastructure, NOTHING to really fix health-care, NOTHING about in regards to REAL regulation of banking and finance, NOTHING to return us to a nation of laws and less than NOTHING to inspire confidence that we were once again doing the right things as a nation.
I remember telling my wife on election night....if this guy does not really make alot of shit change....he is going to all but destroy the political "zeitgeist" of this nation. You cannot build millions of people up...get them high on "hope and change" and then be a complete let-down without there being massive negative consequences. No one I speak to has any interest at all in the political process now...after this guy turned out to be a complete flop...no one believes that the possibility to change our ways even exsist anymore...there seems to be a sense of impending doom...like we know the train is gonna come off the tracks and we are resigned to our fate....now we are just waiting for it to happen........That is not what I would call a healthy outlook for a nation - especially one that considers itself the "leader of the world"
