Obama Statement On Rampant And "Credible" UPS Package Terrorism

Tyler Durden's picture

Maybe someone can ask the administration why they let the planes take off with "credible threat" packages take off instead of halting them on the ground... But that's a question for the soon to be appointed terrorism czar. And after all, how else could they get footage of a landing aircraft to divert the people's attention from the fact that US debt is now $13.7 trillion.

Good afternoon, everybody. I want to briefly update the American people on a credible terrorist threat against our country, and the actions that we're taking with our friends and our partners to respond to it.

Last night and earlier today, our intelligence and law enforcement professionals, working with our friends and allies, identified two suspicious packages bound for the United States - specifically, two places of Jewish worship in Chicago. Those packages had been located in Dubai and East Midlands Airport in the United Kingdom. An initial examination of those packages has determined that they do apparently contain explosive material.

I was alerted to this threat last night by my top counterterrorism adviser, John Brennan. I directed the Department of Homeland Security and all our law enforcement and intelligence agencies to take whatever steps are necessary to protect our citizens from this type of attack. Those measures led to additional screening of some planes in Newark and Philadelphia.

The Department of Homeland Security is also taking steps to enhance the safety of air travel, including additional cargo screening. We will continue to pursue additional protective measures for as long as it takes to ensure the safety and security of our citizens.
ad_icon

I've also directed that we spare no effort in investigating the origins of these suspicious packages and their connection to any additional terrorist plotting. Although we are still pursuing all the facts, we do know that the packages originated in Yemen. We also know that al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, a terrorist group based in Yemen, continues to plan attacks against our homeland, our citizens, and our friends and allies.

John Brennan, who you will be hearing from, spoke with President Saleh of Yemen today about the seriousness of this threat, and President Saleh pledged the full cooperation of the Yemeni government in this investigation.

Going forward, we will continue to strengthen our cooperation with the Yemeni government to disrupt plotting by al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula and to destroy this al-Qaida affiliate. We'll also continue our efforts to strengthen a more stable, secure and prosperous Yemen so that terrorist groups do not have the time and space they need to plan attacks from within its borders.

The events of the past 24 hours underscores the necessity of remaining vigilant against terrorism. As usual, our intelligence, law enforcement and Homeland Security professionals have served with extraordinary skill and resolve and with the commitment that their enormous responsibilities demand. We're also coordinating closely and effectively with our friends and our allies, who are essential to this fight.

As we obtain more information we will keep the public fully informed. But at this stage, the American people should know that the counterterrorism professionals are taking this threat very seriously and are taking all necessary and prudent steps to ensure our security. And the American people should be confident that we will not waver in our resolve to defeat al-Qaida and its affiliates and to root out violent extremism in all its forms.

Study the actual circumstances surrounding the freefall speed collapse of WTC-7 from paper fires, look into the physics of how buildings collapse, the temperatures generated from paper fires vs that needed to weaken steel, the lack of structural deformation in the building just prior to collapse, the overlapping design engineering that precludes simultaneous structural failure and collapse from individual pilon weakening/failure/shifting and get back to us. Terrorism indeed. Wake the fuck up.

Heck, all it takes is to read the 911 commission report. They did not even address building 7 -- nor the beams which appeared to have 90 degree angle cuts disecting the. In fact they did not even have passenger manifests for the planes---they had no evidence of anything-just the word of mouth of whoever concocted the 911 story. It was no investigation. It was the biggest cover up of our generation.

Hey Missing Link. I myself don't like Muslims either but I cannot finger them for this 911 thing after all of the stuff I have read about it. I have my own reasons for not liking them but I will say they are being framed for a lot of this mischief that is going on right now and this is being done on purpose. A man named Alan Sabrosky, came out a while ago and said the Mossad did 911.  Here he is talking about it. He is the former director of the Army War College. He is also jewish. Listen and make up your own mind about it.

Interesting until he made it clear that he advocates "wiping Israel off the face of this Earth."  So he claims  a few conversations with unidentified Army folks where "I made it clear to them" (not the other way around, to my ears) "that Israel did this," referring to 911.

Maybe they did, but this guy smacks of pure bigotry and I hear no evidence whatsoever.

Anti-Israel is the stealth way to be "anti-Jew."

Like any state, Israel does bad things, but that statement above remains true 90% of the time. The proof: How often do they complain about the Arabs? Are we really to believe that the Jews are 50-100 times as bad? Puh-leez.

Israel is a nationstate, "Jew" is a race (and "race" is a problematic cultural classification) - not all "jews" reside or want to reside in Israel; however, Zionists work towards furthering Israel as a "homeland" for the "jewish" people.

not every "jew" identifies as "zionist" - but every "zionist" works to maintain and expand Israel, as Zionism is a belief system. . . anti-Israel is NOT "anti-Jew" - stop with the tired old meme.

Ok, what about the dancing Israelis on 911 in New Jersey?

http://whatreallyhappened.com/WRHARTICLES/fiveisraelis.html?q=fiveisrael...

also if you will notice, Mike Rivero is a jewish man. So is he anti jewish for saying the things he is saying and is he what some may say , a self hating jew?

in conclusion, what would be the reason for these Israeli agents to be dancing and laughing and high fiving that day , across the river in new jersey as they filmed the 911 event?  Why would someone celebrate the deaths of thousands of Americans? Why indeed.

Cmon... It's like the DB that tried to blow his car up in times square a while back. The guys 'bomb' wouldn't have looked out of place in a road runner cartoon. He had a couple of cans of gasoline, an alarm clock and some other BS. When a few people started saying how absurd it was to portray that clown as some criminal mastermind, the authorities had to do a demonstration blast just so they could show how much damage the bomb COULD have done, if they hadn't SAVED us. The guy was spotted by a hot dog man when he saw smoke coming out of the van.

In other words, the guy was a wanna be criminal mastermind terrorist, but in reality was anything but. God forbid the media would ever portray him as the less scary version.

Wait, it gets better... Not  that there is any point in trying to make sense of an MSM article, but bear with me: http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-cargo-planes-20101030,0,5847748.story

"A terrorist attack apparently aimed at two Jewish centers in Chicago was thwarted when two packages the size of bread boxes containing explosives were intercepted in Europe and the Middle East, President Obama and counterterrorism officials announced Friday. [...] Officials said it was still uncertain whether the devices were operational or whether they were to be picked up and activated by someone in Chicago. One official said federal law enforcement authorities believe the latter scenario to be the most likely."

Build a device, send it via UPS from Yemen to Chi-town 'places of worship', make sure to fax Saudi intel the tracking number. Of course the receiver (hazzan? rabbi?)  is expected to open package, hook up detonator, murmur prayers to J*hve and dutifully obliterate themselves as per the plan. Makes perfect sense.

This is one of things where it would be interesting to look at the timelines.   A newsclipping hereabove stated the president was told within five minutes after some local airport police being shown a suspicious item in the hold of an aircraft in the UK, at 3:30am local time.   The only way news would travel that fast up the chain is if the expectation of such news had been sent down the line from the top.   Outside of that condition, it would have taken normally well more than five minutes, on my planet anyway.

In 1785, the exasperated Jefferson suggested that war was the only solution. His mind was "absolutely suspended between indignation and impotence." Jefferson declared that tribute was "money thrown away" and that the most convincing argument that these outlaws would understand was gunpowder and shot. The future president proposed a multi-national effort between European powers and America that would in effect economically blockade North Africa and ultimately provide for a multi-national military force to combat pirate terrorism. The European powers chose to continue paying tribute to the Barbary States (Irwin, 1970).

Sound familiar?

The case of Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab is not a matter of unconnected dots, but rather that of a protected patsy or puppet deliberately used by the US intelligence community for a Christmas Day provocation designed to facilitate US meddling in the civil war in Yemen, which is where Umar Farouk allegedly trained and was given his PETN device. Banker’s son Umar Farouk had been denied an entrance visa to Great Britain , and had been denounced to the US Embassy in Lagos, Nigeria as a possible terrorist by his own father in mid-November. His one-way ticket to Detroit was bought in Ghana for cash, and he reportedly entered Nigeria illegally. In Amsterdam , he was assisted at the Northwest Airlines gate by a “well-dressed Indian” who explained that Umar Farouk had no passport. He did have PETN, the same substance supposedly used by the mentally impaired shoe bomber Richard Reid in his abortive attack of eight years ago. In spite of all this, Umar Farouk’s US entry visa was never revoked, he never made it onto the no-fly list, and he was never thoroughly searched. These egregious lapses in normal procedure show that Umar Farouk was part of an orchestration sponsored by the CIA, which has now yielded 4 solid days of media hysteria. Obama has formulated his new version of the Axis of Evil, composed of Afghanistan-Pakistan, Somalia, and Yemen. In Yemen, a civil war pits the Saudi-backed central government against the Iranian-backed Shiite Houthi rebels, whom the US has bombed at least twice this month. The goal here is to play Iran against Saudi Arabia so as to weaken both the pro-Moscow Achmadinejad government in Iran, and also those Saudi forces that are fed up with their status as a US protectorate. The US is openly now sponsoring a regroupment of “al Qaeda” (the CIA Moslem legion) in Yemen , including by sending fighters direct from Guantanamo . The new CIA-promoted entity synthetic entity is “Al Qaeda on the Arabian Peninsula or AQAP, a gaggle of US patsies, dupes, and fanatics which is claiming credit for the Umar Farouk incident. The US hopes to further dominate the exit from the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, while also easing pressure on the battered US dollar by jacking up the price of oil in an atmosphere of tension on the Arabian peninsula. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is now Totalitariano to the left, and Incompetano to the right. Rather than harassing travelers, she should resign or be fired along with the other corrupt, bungling, or complicit officials of the Obama administration involved in this false flag provocation.wgt

It was a legitimite act. As a counter example I offer you this piece of evidence...

If you were forced to fly into Detroit, wouldn't you set your balls on fire? <sarcasm off>

Now, how he got around security and was seated on a plane with no passport is another story in the annals of Al CIA-Qaeda...

Arabic Name Trying to Board Without a Passport?
What would happen if you or I tried... simply tried... to board a plane without a passport? Anyone?

  1. Grabbed, whisked off to a room, interrogated, no fly list and detained?

... and opt out of them also confiscating anything. I do.

Recently, in a transit stop in a muslim country, airport security wanted to confiscate my 2 one-litre bottles of Chivas that were in my hand luggage. I told them: "No. You do NOT have permission to steal my private property!". They insisted it was an anti-terrorism measure. So I said: "Show me your law that gives you the right to steal my private property". They showed me a slip of paper with some anti-terrorism guidelines on it, to which I replied: "That is some internal bureaucratic guidelines, not the law. Show me the law!".

To cut a long story short, they held the plane up for an hour while we, very calmly but firmly, discussed the issue, then decided to let the plane go and "detain" me while waiting for a number of senior officials to come to the airport to chat with me (but I was specifically not under arrest).

The upshot was that I spent an unplanned 3-day holiday in their country waiting for the next connecting flight ... at airline staff rates ($40/day) in a great hotel, with a free airconditioned limo to show me around, a tourist visa sponsored by the Aviation Dept, use of the airport manager's mobile to make some international calls (because my Blackberry wouldn't work there), some good contacts with senior police and other departments when I visit there again, and red-carpet treatment to shepherd my 2 litres back through the airport and personally handed to me by an airline rep at my destination. They were all wonderful people and [sort of] understood my stand.

All ended very well. The whiskey tasted even better than usual. :-)

White men, abandon your posts and let these nation wreckers fight and defend the country they have ruined and run down.

It's time for the affirmative action recipients  to head to the front lines and do their "fair share".

Well shit....I thought I was the only one on the ground floor buying those cheap-ass printer cartridges out of Omar's Ink in Yemen. I guess the Synagogues are in on that one now. I guess fucking Homeland Security will get in the act now and deplete Omar's inventory down to a few Daisy printer reels left over from the late 80's (kept in reserve for the SEC)...so now what, I buy out of Oman or Saudi Arabia...or Detroit? But, seriously, I guess this little CNN media drama is going to bring every cock-eyed conspiracy theorist on the planet back out in the open to blow the dust off their moldy fantasies and try to sell them as some kind of provocative reality to already hunkered-down Americans. This fucking country needs to get over the fear-mongering that is being rammed down our throat - not by wide-eyed conspiracy cranks who live in their Mom's basement - but by the fucking government. I am so fed up with all the security bullshit that has settled on our airlines, our borders, our freight systems our highways...our fucking minds! Screw Al Queda and screw Homeland Security...they are both involved in the same fucking game....scare the living shit of of the American people. And, I bet most of you are just like me...you are more afarid of Homeland Security than you are Al Queda. If Al Queda comes sniffing and moaning around my back door I can pump both barrels of a 12 gauge shotgun in their miserable guts and never spend a day in jail. If Homeland Security comes to the door, I have to submit meekly to their every whim, or THEY will pump both barrels of a 12 gauge shotgun in MY guts....or send me to jail for the rest of my life.

My God...when are we going to get a high-powered shark with a fist-full of answers in this stinking government who knows that an economy is not something to be fucked with lightly, and knows that a huge - armed - government agency with no-knock powers is an anathema to the way this country is suppossed to work. Look, I do not claim to have all the answers, in fact, I have damn few. But, I do know people pretty well...especially assholes, since I am one. My friend, assholes are not born, they are made. One thing we can do is mandate term limits on Congress/Senate. The longer these people stay in this "rarified" environment, the more power-sick and currupt they become...I know I would be the same way. It is just like some fucking Bond Trader on Wall Street, once he makes a killing in the short-term (verdict still out on the long-term) he turns into a complete fucking idiot...until he finally gets killed when the market goes against him. Another thing we could do is make earmarks an "attachment" to a bill, not a part of it, where it gets lost. A balanced budget amendment - with emergency provisos to exceed with 2/3 vote might work. And, shit, there are a litany of other things that might work. But, here I am throwing out ideas over the transom, which are just opinions...and as we all know, they are just like assholes, everyone has one.

Keynesianism got a foothold there first in academia...why there? The NYFRB is there. The source of folly & avarice still resides there to this day. A boil on the ass of the world...IMO.

This is an indictment of the elites in the NE...not the people, who find themselves in the same circumstance as the rest of us.

Introspection can be a bitch ;-)

Dude, keep on keepin' on!  100%  T'was exactly why Barry Goldwater suggested we'd loose naught by sawing off New England and float it out to sea.  The Power Elite.....

Why?

Ivy League.

You can't pump that kind of arrogance into a group of without a side effect of evil. And they have each other's evil backs.

In the parlance of the "quasi elite," I am not gonna disagree with you. I was raised in Texas,Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Holland, England and Malaysia....but I do not consider myself a "travel elite," just another dumb fuck who's oilfield trash parents drug him around the globe for no apparent reason other than making a living. Bad ideas seem to well up from both the left and right coasts....like maybe ocean water breeds stupidity. But, if that was the case. the Cayman Islands would be totally fucked. It has to to do with the "greed of elitism." The right coast thinks they are right because they were here first, the left coast thinks they are right because, well, they are fucking idiots.

You are a relatively new ZH denizen I see.  Congratulations and glad to see you here.

I like your proposals for the Washington crowd.  The only problem is that the A-holes will have to vote themselves out or vote themselves some restraint.  They have that power and they are not going to use it.   What's the way around that road block?

Absolute power does not corrupt anything.  Absolute power is Absolute, therefore it is above petty discrimination.  Want of power is the great corrupter.  Middle path be damned.  It is time to dismantle the corporatist infrastructure.   Dismantle it with Fire, Air, Water and Earth ..and driven by Spirit.

Right on about fear HS a lot more than AQ.

People who are afraid of getting offed in a terrorist attack need to buy a lottery ticket, cuz the odds are orders of magnitude better.

chances of getting fingered by the TSA? 1.

Yes...this drop-a-dime attitude that has been forced on us in this country has turned us against each other. I was in California on business during 9/11 (there I go...using the familiar "shorthand" for that day - which is a part of the fear mechanism) and I could not get a flight out. I had to rent a fucking car and drive all the way across the country. I was lucky enough to pick up a female hitchiker just outside LA, and she rode with me all the way to Phoenix. She was scared to death. She seemed to think that Al Queda was targeting her. She had left her husband ( an alcoholic who had sat on the couch and quaffed beer the whole time of 9/11 and had turned into a zombie watching the constant reruns of the buldings collapsing) because he told her that life was over as he knew it. He was armed to the teeth, and it scared her, so she was heading back to her parent's place in Scottsdale. We talked for many hours, but I could never break her of that deep-seated fear she had. I wonder if she ever got over that? And, I now wonder if the poor thing shivers at the thought of Al Queda's replacement - Homeland Security, which is after her too.

Thank you for the story. We are very much a divided (and conquered) people. IMO it is because we are flooded with framed information at all turns. No one really knows the true state of affairs, and those who must believe something will make their choice from the menu provided. Very few think for themselves in any depth. The founders would be sad, I think.

Guys....we own this fucking place. All of us Americans: white, black, brown, yellow and whatever. We own this place from the result of a revolution. The problem is, the people who made the revolution, put in place powers that would prevent THEIR asses from being overthrown by another revolution. So, that is where we are today. Even the best spirits of Hamilton and Washington put in place the laws that would prevent their own overtrhow. It is ingrained in our constitution. So, do not be sad for the founders, they created this fucking mess.

It just seems like so many people want to annoint our founding fathers with some kind of high moral standads that, in reality, just is not true. Despite the High language in the Constitution, they allowed slavery to go on...despite their populace "ideals," they created the electoral college, which allows rich people (then, landowners) to control elections, and they did not allow women to vote. Obviously, they were a bunch of great fucking guys with high-minded democratic ideas.

Not allowing women to vote.  Now there's an idea worth fighting for.
