Official Statement From Nancy Pelosi

Tyler Durden's picture

Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement
today after news that Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and others were
shot at an event in Tucson, AZ this morning:

"It is with the
deepest sadness that we have received word of the attack on
Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, members of her staff, and her
constituents. This terrible act of violence is a national tragedy, and
today is a very sad day for our country.

"My prayers, and the
prayers of all Members of Congress, go out to her husband, Captain Mark
Kelly, their family, and to all of the staff and others who were victims
of this horrible attack.

"Congresswoman Giffords is a brilliant
and courageous Member of Congress, bringing to Washington the views of a
new generation of national leaders. It is especially tragic that she
was attacked as she was meeting with her constituents whom she serves
with such dedication and distinction."

Two people get into a heated debate.  The first person argues point A, the second person argues point B.  After some time, person A takes out a gun and shoots person B dead.  Who won the debate?  Apparently person A because they were the one that brought a loaded gun to a debate.

Might does not make right, but it does write history.  I am always saddened when a person is killed in such a way.  What a tremendous loss to everyone.

Why are you always saddened when something like this happens. What does it mean to you? Is it going to affect your life. Did you know her. Did you live with her. Did you work with her. Does she matter in your life at all?

I would send your sadness back because the post office kind of fucked up and delivered it to the wrong person.

I don't like to judge the sentiment of people and their personal feelings.  However, I often find them incredulous.  I wouldn't go so far to say that they revel in other people's misfortune, but I think there is something deeper psychologically going on.  Empathy is a fine trait.  We couldn't survive as a society without it.  However, I think people misdirect their feelings and nothing comes of it.  There were a lot of people who expressed their sentiments about the Iranians when they were holding demonstrations last year.  But when hundreds of them ended up in prison, what did the good libs have to say then.  Nothing.  SXSW was over.  They went on to their next fad cause.

I think an example of the imprudence of sentimentality is illustrated by the thousands of emergency responders who went to New York from around the country after 911.  I think now, and I thought then, that this was a gigantic waste of time and money.  In fact, many of those responders now claim they are ill from the toxic exposure and need medical reimbursement from the US Government. Well, who asked them to go to New York in the first place?  No one.  That's who.

So, while is might sound a little callous, save your sentimentality for your prayers.  If you want to do some good, you don't need to look much farther than your own family or neighborhood to help someone who needs it.  All the overt pronouncements of sentiment are pretty shallow water compared to the people who anonymously wade deep into the cold water to help another person with action instead of empty words.

But Nancy, the shooter didn't know what was in the gun.  He had to shoot it before he would know what was in it.  You can't blame him.  He was using your logic.

It appears to me that CONgresswoman Giffords had a track record of not listening to her constituents and made herself conspicuously unavailable to them. So she failed in her duty to serve her country.

Does anyone know if Blythe Masters and Jamie Dimon wear body armour to work, or drive an armoured car? Perhaps they will, starting on Monday.

Boehner says, "An attack on one who serves is an attack on all who serve. Acts and threats of violence against public officials have no place in our society."

I guess then Congress needs to get their collective heads out of their asses because the atrocities committed against one citizen is an atrocitiy against us all.

And for the record I do not condone violence, I am for peaceful change by changing our behaviors and spending habits. But I do understand people's frustrations.

What was that Jefferson quote about the Tree of Liberty?

Pelosi still has not figured out that she is a 'never was' and 'never going to be' of any significance outside of her own weak mind.    Go away bitch, go away forever, and never return.  America despises you.

I heard the whole interview, and he said "if silver goes to triple digits this year that would make me think about selling. On the other hand, if the dollar is confetti while silver is $150, I'll keep my silver."

It was the fault of the Japanese for allowing such a reactor to be built in that location without additional safety measures being required. That's the real story here. That and the shitty enforcement of already lax safety standards.
