One Angry Rant: "Land Of The Stupid, Home Of The Freaking Screwed"
Zero Hedge is not a political blog. We take every opportunity to expose the hypocrisy and corruption on both sides of the aisle. Granted over the past 2 years we have seen quite a bit more of it from one side, but that has been primarily due to that one side being in control, and as always happens to whoever is in charge, screwing things up. For the most part, we try to be at least modestly picky about how we express ourselves now that politics and finance have become more intertwined than ever in history. The same can not be said about the following clip from Drinkingwithbob who appears to have said "basta" to diplomacy, and delivers one of the more memorable rants against what everyone knows to be true but few are willing to say out loud. If nothing else, it is... cathartic.

Advertising is an interesting market. I wonder how many people make purchases from web links. Although companies don't necessarily need immediate purchases, just putting their name and logo in front of your eyes can have longer term advantages.

Symptoms most often show up when shit hits the fan (i.e. you lose your job (or some other episode) and reality comes smacking you in the face) and you realize that sitting in front of the TV no longer satisfies the 'I'm in (remote) control' of my destiny when they cancel your favorite show. The feeling of the illusion of being 'privileged' begins to fade and you can't do whatever you want to do whenever you want to do it (imperial feelings) or you can't sustain a 'life style' since you lost your job or can't use credit card. When its said and done... too little too late.

Programming from around the world. I watched a few of them and questioned not that my personal beliefs are correct or true, but whether they were ever founded in anything of substance to begin with. Well I have to agree with you on all fronts. I don't think it makes a difference either whether you call yourself socialist or fascist. The common thread in both is corruption. It's the corruption that creates the re-distribution of wealth. I also don't like this "America is the strongest nation in the world" mentality. It leads to the king who wore no clothes. I think it's better to take the "if you got it don't flaunt it approach."
It should tell you something when "the strongest nation in the world" can invade the 37th, 41st, 20th, or whatever a Vietnam or Korea are and get their asses kicked on their home turf. How strong is Afghanistan or Iraq? How are we doing over there? The part about conservatism that conservatives seem to forget these days is that under conservative principles we considered ourselves an isolist nation. In other words we don't fuck around in other folks backyards.
Afghanistan is a place where all empires seem to go to die. The British went in there during the great game, the Soviet empire went down there and now the American empire is going down there.
Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, but I always operated under the assumption socialism was when the workers owned the means of production. Using tax dollars to bail out AIG when Goldman and co. is holding a gun to your head doesn't do much for the plebs. Government by oligopoly is not socialism.

Socialism is a bit pie in the sky anyway, since technically you do not have ownership under socialism and thus no prices (exchange of ownership rights) and without prices you can not plan the production of anything as Mises pointed out in his book 'Socialism'. This is known as the calculation problem.
I think it makes more sense to think philosophically about ownership. Starting with

This way everyone can own and produce means of production and you have internal consistency. You can't own anything by stealing it. Taking the produce of someone's labour under threat of force is theft => taxation is theft. They will always claim to owe their super powers to god or country. They will do anything to grow their power and say everything required to get that power.
If it takes controlling education, media, justice and the creation of money, they will get it under their control. In the end it always fails (because you can not send some one out to legally plunder others for you without repercussions) and the disillusions tax slaves have to be carted of in some war.
