One Angry Rant: "Land Of The Stupid, Home Of The Freaking Screwed"
Zero Hedge is not a political blog. We take every opportunity to expose the hypocrisy and corruption on both sides of the aisle. Granted over the past 2 years we have seen quite a bit more of it from one side, but that has been primarily due to that one side being in control, and as always happens to whoever is in charge, screwing things up. For the most part, we try to be at least modestly picky about how we express ourselves now that politics and finance have become more intertwined than ever in history. The same can not be said about the following clip from Drinkingwithbob who appears to have said "basta" to diplomacy, and delivers one of the more memorable rants against what everyone knows to be true but few are willing to say out loud. If nothing else, it is... cathartic.

He lost me when he said "...road to socialism..." Obama is not a socialist. I, on the other hand, am.
The USA is under the influence of less in the way of socialist thought and socialist policy than any other developed country in the world. There is 1 avowedly socialist Congressional representative and, perhaps, a handful more at the State level. There has not ever been a State in the US with even a minority representative status, let alone a majority, of Socialists.
Capitalism has failed. That is what came unglued, unhinged, broken at its core from and after September 2008. Socialism had nothing whatsoever to do with that. Socialism would not ever in a million years have deemed the proper fix to what happened in 2008 to be that of providing unlimited free money to banks and to lower taxes on wealthy people and to set up TALF bailout programs for them and their spouses.
That is not socialism. Rather, that is corporatism and crony capitalism, elitism, and disaster capitalism.
Can anyone think we are about to enter into a phase of solution when so many appear not to have the foggiest clue about what actually happened to get us where we are?
Ideology is blinding. In the USA, there is but one ideology and that ideology depends on not having the least inkling of understanding of what socialism is.
Obama is blameworthy, to be sure. He is blameworthy because he failed to grasp the mandate given to him that would have allowed him to take on TPTB and the TBTF, but he cowered in their presence and simply followed a path that his predecesor would likely have followed, albeit, with an ability to read the teleprompter better than Bush was able to do.

Collectivism has its attractive points but releasing the natural human drive to prosper for ones own benefit is what propels an individual to work harder, longer and smarter than his neighbor. You can't change human nature but only modify it to a limited extent. Corruption and privilege in a position of power are the destroyers of all isms.

I'm reading "War in a Time of Peace" by David Halberstam. Well intentioned people stumble around, then largely get it right during the break-up of Yugoslavia.
Seems like Obama went with top level professionals who turned out to be somewhat less competent than what Bush41 and Clinton had for experts in the 1990s. At best Obama is a barrier of sorts against the ignorant, fundie billionaire-whores leading today's GOP.

In seven presidential elections I have only voted for the winner once - Obama. I have reached the point where I am actually praying for his departure from office by any means possible. He has been without a doubt the worst president in US history and we're talking about Franklin Pierce here. If I were to actually see the man, I could not be civil to him - I would have to leave.

Republicans actually have alot of blame to share for getting Barry Soetoro into office. It was a really good idea for Republicans when Limbaugh dreamed up operation CHAOS during the presidential primaries in 08. Everybody thought it would be a good idea to register as a Democrat and put Soetoro on the ticket. It was the fundamental tenet of a Grand Strategy against the Dems. Well all I would like to know since the election of Obummer is what is the next phase of operation CHAOS now Rush? Obama is a continuation of Bush policies. The biggest factor in all of our development is our environment. The differences you see amongst the socio-economic patterns of different races and cultures are relatively temporary in the bigger scheme of the earth, our solar system and even larger conceptual constructs. This current modern civilization was born out of a global culture that is only a few tens of thousands of years old. There were others before us. who were wiped out, and returned, and wiped out again. There's alot about the story we don't know, but the evidence remains under the sea, in the mountains, buried in strata, etc for all who have the wisdom to acknowledge it. Racially, the tables were turned a few thousand years ago when people who looked like us were living in caves, raping each other and eating rotten animal flesh. Others races were not so burdened at the time. Things change. Things fluctuate, reverse position, frequencies adjust. You are just a speck of dust and our society is a snapshot in a long moving picture. Wake up, (hu)Man.

You feel that way based on your observations of society from the lens of a corporate media entity, or a book/print media written by someone who shares your bias. You oversimplify the argument in order to reach your preferred conclusion. i.e. Blacks are disproportionately jailed because they are inherently more violent (not quoting you) is a common false assertion made without taking into account factors such as law enforcement bias, income distribution based on the effects of slave legacy and institutionalized bigotry, and other factors that have created a higher proportion of criminal offenders in particular demographics. That is different from dna dictating the limits of someone's potential.
