Man... I loved that game show in the 1970's.  Has inflation really eroded the Almighty Dollar that much????

Not quite but almost. Remember "The $64,000 Question" from the late 50's?. I didn't do the math but I suspect it's now more like $500,000.

I love all things Christopher Walken so sign me up.

Yes, let's peel back the layers on the derivative complex...inquiring minds want to know what they are.  Clearly not just risk management "hedge" tools, probably tools of manipulation, earnings management, and multiple life insurance policies on the same underlying X - securitization and a fractional reserve banking like multiplier run wild.

Apocalypse

As Im starting to get the gist of they are a way that companies and banks can avoid accounting rules and banking regulations and are basically fraudulent insurance

There are 50 trillion in assets worldwide "insured" for up to a quadrillion dollars.

They are also a means by which investment banks screw their corporate and government clients and make huge piles of moolah doing so, they are deliberately concocted by quants to be so complex most of the time the people buying them cannot price them so they wind up paying way too much for them.

They obviously create massive systemic risk so its odd that TPTB have always trumpeted their ability to reduce risk.

Cannot be done. Complexity goes like n! (factorial). Horror has a face, and you have to make friends with horror.

Marla, was that you at the very end?  I couldn't figure out what you were saying, but the segment sounds awesome.

Marla, if this is geeky humor I missed my calling in life.  Unless I have become a geeky knuckle dragger.  Please do not erase this one.  Getting the channel ready to run eh?  Should be a WhoT.

alas the fantasy continues...

Can someone explain this to me ... about 4:55am NY time I was watching DXZ9 go from 76.760 to 81.345 in 30 seconds, trading all the way and then trading back to 76.910 in another minute and 1/2. That thin or something happen? Of course during this period ESZ9 made a new low at 1027.25 from about 1029.

O/T kinda,

unless I am getting bad quotes, we just had a huge move in the dollar. It has now corrected back down. I had high of 81.34 quote. Not seeing similar moves in oil or bonds. Europe getting hit though.

PEET/DDRX and 'WB' giving you all the material you need today already, and the sun is barely up...

That's one way to cut those futures losses by 50%+ and shrinking.

I know the mod.s read this, and I don't want it posted, but have no other way to turn some heads. Warren just bought BNI. Oh and yea Charles Gasparino called out MS and GS on his book touting today. Apparently they are bankrupt.... =) Catch your daily MSM.

How can I play this game?  Oh wait I'm already playing.

Hats off to Warren going "all in" with Burlington for $34B.  Pretty soon $34B won't be worth that much, and the trucking industry will be history thanks to high gasoil (diesel) prices.

The american consumer will of course riding the train too.  A win-win!

MG, just when you thought Zero Hedge couldn't get any better.....it exceeds expectations!  In the age of ankle high bars being set during earnings season , Zero has become a world class high jumper.  I love to watch ZH do the Fosbury Flop!

Thanks Marla
