The Only iPad "Review" You Need To Read
Guest Post from Fake Steve Jobs of The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs
An open letter to the people of the world
Dear human race,
First of all, you’re welcome. In the last few days I’ve been overwhelmed by your letters and calls expressing your gratitude to Apple, and mostly to me personally, for inventing yet another life-changing, mind-altering product. All I can tell you is that with iPad, as with all of our products, all we did was create something that we want to use. We’re just so glad that you want to use it too. It’s humbling, actually. When you devote your entire life to the endless, selfless quest to improve the lives of others; when you live a monk-like existence, and focus all of your power and genius on the singular goal of creating objects that nourish souls and transform people’s lives with magic and wonder; and when people tell you that this is, indeed, what you’ve done — well, it’s gratifying. Namaste, entire population of Spaceship Earth. I honor the place where your desire to consume becomes one with my desire to create.
Some pundits have posed the question: Why do anyone need this thing? Indeed, even those of you are lining up and standing outside stores may be wondering, Why am I doing this? Why am I lining up like a zombie for an expensive piece of consumer electronics, a product for which there is no shortage and which, let’s face it, nobody really needs? Back in the early days of our design process, Jonny Ive came in to see me and we spent a long time trying to decide where on Mazlow’s triangle this product would sit. Because we knew if we couldn’t be way up above the very top of that pyramid, floating above it, totally outside the needs it describes, then this wouldn’t be a product we wanted to make. Some of our early iterations, in fact, had to be tossed out because when we looked at them we realized that parts of them were too, well, necessary. Don’t get me wrong. That’s fine for other companies. It’s just not what we do here at Apple.
But let’s get back to you people who are waiting in line. I mean it’s not like you’re in Bolivia and there’s just been an earthquake and you need to line up to get food and clean water. It’s not like you’ve time-traveled back into the Depression and you’re waiting in line at a soup kitchen. And yet, in fact, that’s exactly what you’re doing. Spiritually speaking, we are living in the Great Depression, and you are waiting in line for sustenance. We, all of us, are experiencing the world that Deleuze and Guattari described so presciently in Capitalism and Schizophrenia. If you haven’t read this incredibly important two-volume work, I highly recommend that wait for us to make both volumes available on our iBooks store and then order them right away. The cool thing is that then, as you’re reading, you will have the strange and circular experience of discovering why you bought the iPad in the first place.
The truth is, this is all about spiritual emptiness. That is why you’re standing in line. Except for Scoble, who is an attention whore and just doing it to get attention.
The truth is, all over the world, across every culture, there exists a sense of yearning. A kind of malaise. An emptiness. At the risk of sounding like Dr. Seuss: There is a hole in your soul. That is what we’re addressing at Apple. That is the hole we aim to fill. Sadly, as you may have begun to suspect, that hole can never really be filled. The truth is that modernity, the condition of living in our modern world, has inflicted terrible wounds on your inner self. These wounds can never be healed. They can only be treated. At best we provide palliative care. Not a cure. Because, my dear fellow human beings, there is no cure for what ails you. The products we create provide only temporary relief. Their magic eventually wears off. The sense of childlike wonder they impart will, over time, begin to fade. And then you need a new product. Think back to July 29, 2007. Do you remember the rapture? The wonder of iPhone? The magic? Now that is gone, but here we come with another shot of digital Dilaudid. Sleep well, my friends. Sleep deeply and rest, cradled in the arms of my electronic medicine.
I’d also like to take a moment to thank all of the engineers and designers and programmers inside Apple who worked so tirelessly on this product, toiling way in total secrecy. I know it wasn’t easy. You had to work on a machine that was inside a sealed metal box, so you couldn’t actually see what you were doing. The box itself was chained to a desk, which was bolted to the floor in a windowless, lead-sealed concrete bunker. And you were chained to that same desk by your ankle. I know some of you considered it humiliating. I know many of you did not enjoy having to use a chamber pot instead of being allowed to leave the room for bathroom breaks. To be sure, the chamber pot was designed by Jonny Ive and is a model of simplicity and elegant design. Nevertheless, not a lot of fun. I know some of you grumbled, privately, about having your personal email read, and your phone calls monitored. You did not appreciate having your children followed to school and interrogated to see if Mom or Dad had been talking about work. The cars parked outside your house at night, the strange calls to your neighbors and relatives, the questionnaires about your sexual history, the lists of all your past lovers that you needed to provide — I know. It’s not easy to work at Apple. But I think you’ll agree with me that it’s worth the trouble. I honor your dedication, and I hope you will all enjoy the new wonder device that you have helped bring into the world.
Hold your iPad. Gaze at it. Pray to it. Let it transform you. And do it soon, because before you know it we are going to release version 2, which will make this one look like a total piece of crap. Peace be upon you.

I use to fear the coming financial collapse but now I look forward to it. People of the west have become so self-involved they have no longer are bothered by the killing of civilians by their armies or the millions of people starving in their world countries. I am ashamed of my own people and I think it's time that people are reminded that life is precious.
I'm still in the fear camp, mainly because of what these zombies will do when they can no longer get their quick emotional fix. When the gadgets run out, when the porn turns off, when the cable goes off, these people will turn into animals. That is to say nothing about real need hitting them, like needing energy or food or water. Having to deal with the stuggles much of hte world has. I have to think the Joker was right "When the chips are down, these 'civilized' people will eat each other."
yeah, they'll turn into animals, but me, I ain't scared o' no metrosexual predators...
My Dear Friends,
Should zombies attack, I will bash them with a stolen iPad.
Regards,
H
ROTFLMAO!
It'll be a magic weapon that plays music while you bash them. The singing mace.

Harbourcity I completely agree....
Shhhh, what Apple does NOT want you to know about.... Coming soon is:
www.engadget.com/2010/03/05/microsofts-courier-digital-journal-exclusive-pictures-and-de/
Apple does not care. Why? Because Microsoft courier will look good on a spec sheet, with claims on what it can and can't do beating Apple iPad hands down. The problem is that responsiveness will suck, it will not work quite as advertised. As soon as you put a 3rd party app on the Courier, the whole thing will start to become unstable.
Just like Zune, on paper and from a marketing perspective, it was better than an iPod. But, even those who bought one and used it for a while all agreed that they wanted an iPod. Same will happen here. Furthermore, the iPad will support more applications, and in the end, that is all that will mater.
BTW... This coming from a guy who waited in line for the first gen iPhone, bought the 3rd gen iPhone, and does not need the iPad, so I will not be getting one. At least not until I have a reason. As for the iPhone, it changed the way I communicate. I love it. Never giving it up unless something way more radical comes into the picture.
Rich
Agreed. Nor should Apple care. Apple has a huge leg up on innovation.
Microsoft can't even get search done right.
Typical response from Apple sheeple, and that is what makes the article so enjoyable to read. Like sheeple to slaughter and all that. Sadly, the main thing an iPod should do it does so very wrong. It is called sound quality, and here the Zune trounced the iPod in spades. Look, i could care less about Apple or MS or Linux or APL or C++ or DOS or COBOL per se. Yet when i want to listen to music it should at least have some sound quality.
PS: Yeah, those Apple stores are great places to pick up hot sexy women ;-) Reminds me of the Simpsons Bi-Mo-Sci-Fi-Con, chicks put out just to leave.
You'll love this Simpson's parody of Mapple
www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZGIn9bpALo
While i definitely do care about sound quality, i cant say i use my iPod because of the apple logo, but merely becuase its easy to use, and i *thought* the sound quality was decent. Isnt the reason sound q is so bad is cause the earphones are shit? I have seperate bose earbuds i bought that rock my world.
Do you have links confirming actual iPod music output is shit?
With the digital stuff, it's about two things: the encoding and the speakers (earbuds). You've got good buds (though Bose are overpriced, get Sennheiser cans and really rock).
MP3 sucks. I rip everything lossless and the sound works fine. However, most people don't care that much. MP3s are like listening to a mediocre car radio. But that's good enough for the vast majority.
Hence, saying that "what the iPod is supposed to do, it doesn't do well" is just complete BS. It definitely does do what it's supposed to do, which is to provide music in an intuitive interface. It's GREAT at that, hence the success.
Try audiophile boards for portable audio such as Head-Fi. It is more than just the earbuds, it is the circuitry and decoding chip (DAC) Apple chose. Very early iPods used the Wolfson DAC, which is better sounding than the chip Apple has used now for many years.
But whatever guys, enjoy your Apple and remember that if MS limited the hardware, sold the computer, refused to support various media formats, etc they would be in court. Apple gets away with things like limiting the hardware, refusing to support various formats, Apple selling of the computers without letting other license and sell hardware...
Again, could care less about MS, Apple, Linux, etc yet look at the facts as it is obviously the industry hates MS yet looks the other way when it comes to Apple. When will HP, Dell, Acer, etc be able to sell computers with the Apple OS?
This whole Apple thing reminds me of Starbucks circa five or so years ago. The product was just ok yet sheeple flocked to be part of the perceived upper class in the know. Anyone who ACTUALLY KNEW what great espresso/cappuccino, etc tasted like also knew Starbucks was a far inferior product at a cost far higher than it should be.
PS: Have tried stock earbuds, upper line units from various companies and even some seriously pricey custom fit IEMs that cost more than many spend on their home system's speakers. Have also tried external portable music amplification devices.
Yes! Most people who buy Apple products particularly their computers do it for look or chic not because they know anything about it. Take an Apple product and put it beside a PC with the same specs and the cost difference will stun you. Apple is doing well not because of a good product but because of good marketing and brand identity.
I think a lot of hate on MS comes from them "Only being in it for the money!". I've been to conferences and I was stunned at the level of hate on MS. They all have their problems but your right MS gets no slack at all.
I bought the Zune HD and the IPOD touch. Compared them head to head. The Zune blows the IPOD out of the water in every potential category except app availability (and if MSFT really wanted to, you know who has more apps than everybody else).
Apple has a slick interface group, sexy packaging and marketing, but they are reaching a zenith in the usability race. The IPOD doesn't come near the Zune, save marketing. I actually gave the Ipod away. The IPAD is a crippled tablet, that CAN'T do what most other full OS/hardware enabled tables were able to do two years ago, save the marketing thing.
I am all for Steve Jobs killing the competition on marketing, but knowledgeable users need to know that they are buying marketing prowess, not functionality.
i am bad and quilty, i have been a life long super buyer of the mac. at&t just sucks. but these apps are really captivating. i mean hands free music and my workout apps or my gps golf shot. covers all of my major senses. they even have an app as a vibrator, doesn't work. maybe with an ipad it would.

I took this photo of the Apple store in Manhattan Beach, CA yesterday.
It was packed.
The MacBook Pro is a great machine. And Robo you are hysterical.
But take away the Blue Shirts and the Apple addicts and you are left with one very unhappy black woman to the right.
It's not like I'm going to MB to buy anything but cocktails and catch tail anyway. But u get the drift.
That black lady does NOT look amused
Zombie remnants of a dying civilization...
RobotTrader do u live in MB? I grew up there...
WOW

What a great place to find a single girl.

There's girls there. They are just at the other table where they can't cause anxiety and fear and sweaty palms.
It is so sad that the average American does not know what is the capitol of Arkansas or South Dakota(theres two dakotas?they say.) Nor do they know the difference between arab and persian. The sad thing is most americans belivev that their politicians will save them(for the neo cons Sarah palin, for the neo marxist Barack Obama). When we sound the bell that America is heading towards a debt collapse people say we are "crazy', "fear mongers" or my favorite "We are America, history does not apply to us!" We are not collapsing because of our debt but because we are arrogant, greedy, stupid and are illusional. We are arrogant because we think we can bomb any nation to submit ion when we want to, we are greedy because we take so much credit to buy everything now,we are stupid because we make the same mistakes over and over again we make the same mistakes. that is why we are Boobus Americanus. The citizens are delusional and think America will last forever and ever.Arrogance is the first sign of collapse and we have had this since the collapse of the USSR. Just as Donald James perfectly put ti "When a well packaged of lies has been sold graually to the masses over generations, the truth will seem utterly preposterous and its speaker raving lunatic." I'm not even an economic major and when I talk to my fellow college freshmen they do not know what is deflation, inflation or reflation. When i say what is deleveraging they have blank faces. Oue education system is horrid,we have a fiscal nuclear bomb ready to go off in five-ten years time and all they talk about is the "I-pad." We are in deep shit and this is why we are on road to and economic and educational collapse. Obama is not the problem. he is not a danger to america. Its the citizenry that is capable of entrusting a man like his as president. it will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgement to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for thier president. The problem is deeper and far mre serious than Obama, who is a sympot of the illness. Blaming Obama the prince of fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools who made him their prince. The republic can survive a barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. it is less likely to survive a multitude of fools who made him president. the same goes for sarah palin. she is the queen of fools for the other side. its funny that many of the tea party memeber call for lowered spendig, but at the same time does not want their social security, medicare cut and military spending cut. We are unwilling to make tough choices because we are greedy and want more. but one day we will have nothing and we will look back and say "Damnit we should done the tough choices!"
Wow. Dude.
With all that finger pointing you left out two very very big pieces of that "blame everyone" puzzle....the Drug Cartels and the CIA.
That is foolish.
ZB did not say "blame everyone," rather "we have only ourselves to blame." Which will be true until we stop following each successive Charismatic Leader who promises to solve our problems without pain or responsibility.
Yes. Time to follow only ourselves. The leader is from within....
AHA We are the Black Swan!
It would be a nice thought.
faith of a mustard seed ?
"It is so sad that the average American does not know what is the capitol of Arkansas or South Dakota"
I knew the SD one instantly; had to think about the Arkansas one. Anyway, totally useless information taught in grade school to exercise the memorization skills of kids. Over time to be rightfully forgotten and to be replaced by information that's actually relevant like:
"Nor do they know the difference between arab and persian.'
Yes, I do and since much of our energy comes from that area, it's a good thing to know.
Now, not being able to point to Florida on a map, that is pretty bad. Might actually have to drive there or something.
"Not praising the worthy prevents contention,
Not esteeming the valuable prevents theft,
Not displaying the beautiful prevents desire.
In this manner the sage governs people:
Emptying their minds,
Filling their bellies,
Weakening their ambitions,
And strengthening their bones.
If people lack knowledge and desire
Then they can not act;
If no action is taken
Harmony remains."
Lao Tzu
This is why I don't by crap from Apple. It's like when you're trading and everybody's buying the same thing... so you sell it to them.
By the way, excellent quote relating to this Blindweb.
90% of the population is dead weight, and we won't be able to carry them much longer.
Much bleaker than my current view...and that doesn't happen very often.
Only 90%???
I'd say it's more like 99.9%
You're right. There is a hole inside of us all that yearns to be filled. Many search fruitlessly for that one thing and find only sorrow. There is something that fits perfectly and fulfills man's quest. Interesting that this was mentioned here today.
Happy Easter everyone.
Loving yourself in the moment is good.
Dear Apple Leader,
Please tell the human race about your plan for iPad release version H (for humanity) in which you magically transform the natural organic world and allow people to hold a precious part of the ecosystem in their hands. Your engineers have made a world-changing technological discovery and proven it is possible to harvest and process natural cellulose fibers into super-slim sheets upon which digital characters and images can be imprinted.
And, miracle of miracle, these digital imprints do not require electric current to be viewed and can be viewed anytime, even when internet system crashes or batteries lose power. These digital imprints on thin-sheet are permanently archived in hardcopy and will last for decades.
Please Dear Apple Leader, let humanity know about your new generation transformative technology: books with real paper from ecologically-sustainable forests harvested by sustainable native cultures who will receive a sustainable royalty as long as Apple sustains billions dollar profits from Apple Books.
I am too bursting with excitement to keep this secret. Apple's secret code word for the project is "Gutenburg".
Don't know about any or your experiences with this product, but my girlfriend came to bed last with her brand new iPad. We were both playing with it having great fun. She was all excited, but fell asleep and left it on overnight. Woke up this morning and it leaked all over the sheets. Rimshot!
Nest time, make it use a condom
Nah, she just needs to upgrade to the iMaxiPad...
Now HERE is a product that is actually good for something, reasonably priced too...

What do you mean we... round eye.
Seriously guys. If the USA companies didn't invent things like this, then we'd be worse off than we are.
I was skeptical at first but did get one yesterday to test out for my executives. It is fantastic.
Sometimes greatness takes time for it to sink in. The world is not ready for the iPad yet, it is ahead of its time.
Those of us that realize this first and work towards innovation and the best ways to use it for efficiency and productivity (and fun and recreation) will be the leaders.
iPad is connectivity IP writ large intuitive as the brain works. When you can touch a picture, it's far better than writing a thousand words on a QWERTY IO device.
IP is 40% of US GNP and growing according to the IPI (Institute for Policy Innovation). Our more valuable IP in manufacturing (especially biotechnology) is gradually being rolled back within our borders with this vital security realization in mind. Nations that do not honor IP and tolerate piracy build cultures where their domestic population cares not to create what it cannot own. By honoring and protecting IP, the US can lead again. Gold is a dead issue that arrests development anticipating a future of futility.
IPad is just an appliance. Expect every one to bring out a better mouse trap. Reverse technology.
I am a neanderthal. ipod hell. too complex. I like to meet in person. A good handtool for me is a baseball bat or the shotgun to fend off hungry i pod users in the near future.
did anyone, learn to program a vcr, before they became obsolete, or is it just me?
That's not very fair to pick on Apple for that, but basically almost every product these days isn't just a product that satisfies some basic need, but the one that is aiming to fill some sort of a gap in life or personality. These days you don't buy a cellphone - you buy an image, you don't buy a house - you buy a lifestyle, you don't buy a car - you almost would try to imagine what kind of a girl would agree to jump into it (ok, it's different for family cars, but still fair for sports ones).
Not only products are aiming to fill the gap, but they also look to exploit the insecurity in people and basically the worst consumer is a self-sufficient and independent person who is either happy with itself or realise its imperfection and needs no fix in the form of material attributes.
Edward Bernays.
Edward Bernays (with more than a little assistance from close relative Sigmund Freud) figured out how to lever that hole in your soul wide open, and the iPad and the vampire squid are the direct descendants.
The hole and the consumer are the chicken and the egg, but which came first?
Public Relations/Advertising is the creation of a problem and the simultaneous presentation of the (temporary) answer. Retail therapy is the temporary filling of the hole, creating a feedback loop.
Fractional reserve banking and compounding interest make it massively profitable, but their generation of surplus paper claims on hard assets is the achilles heel of the system. As is their exponential growth.
When the consumer can no longer finance this new paradigm? Close the gold window and let mounting debt keep things rolling for another couple decades.
Then create financial derivatives to siphon off the massive inflation needed to sustain this debt and interest bubble, into a 'shadow economy' of monstrous size that almost no-one is aware of, and even fewer can comprehend. The dollar hyperinflated many years ago, but government manipulation of the markets and the derivatives siphon have concealed it beautifully. A scam too big to be seen.
Then, in a final flourish, throw lending and accounting standards completely out the window, extend credit pretty much everywhere, in the knowledge that it cannot possibly be repaid, and let the big banks lie about the results for as long as possible.
Then...
Truly is a dumbass idea. Only love and selfknowledge can fill that hole.
I saw a quick blurb on the tee vee last night where a woman at the local living dead gathering (read: iPad onsale event) said, "you know, this is about the most exciting thing that's ever happened to me."
And she was dead serious.
I don't know whether to pitty these people or go clean my shotgun one more time for the inevitable mass freakout. When these mouth breathers wake up one morning to find they have no money, no skills, and no idea what to do now that Applebees is no longer available as their primary food source it's going to be ugly.
This would be lulz, if it weren't true. Being true, I guess its just gallows humor. The immediate future is bleak.
You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking.... ipad? lol
+1 for coming full circle with it.
You know, sometimes humor just says it best.
I think this is still fresh...possibly? more fresh:

The ultimate technological irony: Using a computer to watch tv shows.
...and using the tv to listen to music?
Using the radio to listen to records?
Using records to listen to live bands?
IMO this is merely the advancement of technology.
Someday this device will be useful. Between now an then you can show it off the the girls at work and explain all the cool things it will be able to do when version 2.0 comes out.
Bunch of Negative Nancies in here.
Seriously, guys. I realize it's fun to bash the iPad, but go outside. Get some sunshine, ride a bike, get a life, whatever it takes.
They're not really bashing the ipad as much as they are bashing our society as a whole.
And they're completely fucking correct.
We'd rather focus our collective energies in securing our next fix, and completely ignore that which really needs our attention.
I've got the only radio in the world without an AM tuner - the NANO. Thank you Steve Jobs
What, no Flash Player!? We don't need no stinking Flash Player??
Apple fanboys are pretty gay. LOL at Apple fanboys.
Most of them couldn't use a computer if it bit them in the ass, but the first day they get a Mac, they are somehow "computer experts" that are qualified to knock on Windows.
Now they spend 500 bucks on a netbook and that's going to make them "smarter" or "cooler." Look at all the sausage at that Apple store. I bet those guys lay down together and night and have Mac masturbation sessions together.
you sound jealous. you seem to have a fixation
I don't know why I hate Apple as much as I do.
I think it's because to me, the people who buy their products think that they're "alternative" to the mainstream, but all they do is pay way too much for a piece of glitter. Kinda like the goldbugs.
Yay! I paid 3 times as much for an inferior computer. Now I'm going to wear a beret and act like a computer expert...
IMO you make good points. I see the apple hipsters are here to trash your posts...
Disclaimer: i have an iPhone, which serves as my phone and iPod, and hence the only apple product i use. Never would i buy a Mac since my Vaio cost roughly the same but is 2x as performant (and other laptops would be 1/2 the cost but just as performant). I suppose the only other way i give AAPL money is indirectly through certain apps i buy, but i figure thats a negligible amount.
master i just don't get you.
at first i listened, your an accountant, you live in denver, you had a job interview, you were fairly excited. did you not get it or maybe you didn't?
why do you cop such an arrow against anything that is cool.
you had a written verbal blow out with a female poster, a while back, in regards to niall ferguson and you were such a stud in regards to him†
well dear i am pretty screwed up too, but your trying to beat a dead dog in your life. or maybe your the true fight club member and i am not†
Velobabe, he likes to be against, whatever. Claimed once he was only against gold to piss us of due to a bet. he has said a lot of things, become an irritant more than a good guest. Then on other days he acts decently. I think its a smart kid on daddys cp
The iPad would be great if it was made in the usa. Just another gadget that people will buy just so that they can seem cool or at the front of the tech curve. Yes you are right that about 90% of americans are plugged into the matrix and despite being warned will never wake up. When they do wake up it will be because there is no beer on tap, no flat screen tv to watch, and no fast food to consume. It will be too late but as I get to the point at writing this country of as doomed I seem to always meet another awakened soul who will not fall for the corporate line and understands truly what is really going on.
There's that which brings us together and that which tears us apart. Everybody here knows the difference -- http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig/garris3.html -- and everybody at ZH is on the same side. So quit bitching, fight the good fight, and otherwise get ready:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uIzS1uCOcE&feature=related
I'd still take the paper clip, stapler, toe nail clipper, and the wheel anyday over the Ipad. Oh, and Tivo.
Is it anything other than an iPod Touch with a larger screen? If not, it's a dud.
It's a status symbol for morons. That's more than an ipod touch I guess.
iPad, iShmad.
my girl friend got up this morning and said she needed to go get an i-pad. shit, there goes the week-end. hate when they get cramps and start bitchin'. i was very happy when she came back with a new computer
It is all so absurd. Charts show us moving higher. So Greece is bankrupt, we have 100+ trillion in unfunded liabilities, deficits our children can never pay back, due to the insane idiotic policies of the Fed.....millions can barely put gas in their car or pay their rent, mortgage....emergency unemployment benefits at new highs, states cutting back and firing. CA. is worse off than Greece and the other PIIGS but no one seems to care. Just keep paying $100,000 pensions + medical benefits to 55 year old retired CA. workers.
The squids, GS, MS etc. continue to destroy the fabric of our society and then have the nerve to say they are not at fault for the carnage that was and is to be.
A corrupt bombastic congress with an administration that believes socialism is the best route, and no matter what, getting reelected is first priority over the sheeples.
Financial reform, forget about that having any teeth. Too many on the squid payroll to have any meaning. And now we are going to reduce principal to keep people in homes that should not be in homes. So the system will never reset.
Guaranteed loans by the FHA which is of course all of us. And we will pay, instead of the insolvent banks.
2 wars with thousands killed, many more thousands permanently impaired. Never mind the billions wasted as the food bank lines get longer and longer.
40 states cannot balance their budgets, firing people every month and many states will need Federal help just to make payroll, basic services and benefits.
And the jobs created are 1/3 temp. jobs and I bet most at 25 to 50 percent less pay then before they were laid off. And Larry Summers, a wall street crony, advises we are close to "escape velocity" on jobs. What a joke.
And we are standing in line to buy an IPad!!!
I have never seen our country more broken, corrupt or unmanagable than it is now.
And the markets will continue their ramp.
Beyond words all, just beyond words.
But, this I know, at some point the piper will be paid.
Had an Easter family dinner today, which included a few cousins who are 'South of my border'. Everyone was fairly knowledgeable and upper-middle-class.
Topic of the night was how their RRSPs are doing good, thanks to the increased weight they decided to put in stocks since around June. I was the first to argue, good if you made a profit, cash out now and put it in cash or something equally safe.
I of course got attacked from almost all sides. The problem is, all those valid points you mentioned, ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT. IT IS THE TOPICS YOU MUST NOT SPEAK OF. Not utter a word, or else youre labeled a pessimist. To a certain point, i agree, why bother speaking of illnesses, world poverty, crime epidemics in poor countries, or other offensive topics if you can speak of health, happiness, wealth, etc.
However, where the line is drawn is how some people totally close their eyes to anything that doesnt affect them. If all is good for them, surely all must be good for everyone. Itd be unrealistic to hope for the average North American to open up their eyes and have them feel compassion for the other 300+million people on our continent, but i suppose if more and more people listened to what was really going on behind the MSM green shoots, we'd all be better off.
...Or maybe those that realize this transparency will (likely) never happen, are the ones who will be better off.
read martin armstrong...wake up...and stop bitching about complete nonsense.
talk about clown.
you take the cake my friend...continue to be an overly confident(in your pessimistic ideas) moron and see how far that takes you.
Standing in line all night for a new gizmo is something I add to the very long list of things in this world I cannot understand, like why after the Big Bang the universe is not symmetrical, or how religious people can explain humans growing from the Garden of Eden to 6.7 billion souls without just a little bit of incest.
Looking at Robo's photo, I do not see any executive type who will get that key advantage closing a deal by virtue of the iPad, but I do see a lot of youngsters who probably rifled Mom's pocketbook for cash or her credit card. Apparently Pong, or all the permutations that have come since that, is not enough to satisfy. Hope they're happy now.
Tee-Hee!
Here are some choice quotes surrounding the ipad launch in my neighborhood:
Aryan Azarsepandan, 14, waited for 10 hours to be first at the South Anchorage Best Buy. It's not that he wanted one. He needed one, he said.
Standing outside the store before its 10 a.m. opening, he told of two tense moments during the night. The first came at 3 a.m. when he was waiting in his parents' car and spotted another person headed for the No. 1 spot at the door. The man had a tent, blow up mattress and sleeping bag.
The teen said the device would be phenomenal but not perfect. After all, he won't be able to play "Modern Warfare 2" on it just yet.
The children are the future. It is good to see them behaving in the same fashion as crack addicts. Hey, murder simulator addict has a nice ring to it!
South Anchorage resident Cheryl Lynn Babbe, who is on her 17th or 18th Mac, said she posted notes at every possible entrance to her house -- garage, gate, front door, deck -- to make sure the UPS man knew that she was home. She's been a Mac person since 1985, refers to Steve Jobs as "Uncle Steve," and would shed her own blood to get the latest Mac product.Hmm... All we can hope is that 'Uncle Steve' instructs the rest of team Apple to swill anti-freeze, just like Uncle Jimbo Jones did back in the '70s before signing off. All kidding aside, lets hope Team Obama can get the police state up and running before the Wi-Fi shuts down and these morons run-amok.
iPad - ho hum.
Macbook? Nice but pricey.
Perfectly happy with my trading station ( a converted DELL gaming machine) and my Toshiba laptop ...
But my iPhone - that's a different story. Don't know how I got along without it.
Best App? - the iFart. "Bean Burrito Blaster" is my ringtone..
KrvtKpt. laughting swordfish
Full of Gas and lettin' it rip...
ROTFLMFAO! Great post - and F**K the iPad and F**K Apple.
I have no Apple products whatsoever and been making my own PC running Windows 2000 Pro on 6 year old Intel chips and have seen almost nothing I can't run at full speed. I have a couple of HP Win XP laptops for bluetooth VOIP internat'l phone and airport waiting....and the rare installed app program that needs XP. So no one absolutely needs touch screen connectivity with all manner of content wherever and whenever..but way fcuking brilliant and a game changer!! I can wait, but I got to give Mr. Jobs big props.
Western liberal democracy (pseudo capitalism) is on the verge of collapse. The Ipad won't help when the Internet is kindly swithced off.

2010: the year we monotask.
Do you suppose Steve Jobs has a new iPancreas or an iLiver? iPredict he'll be dead in the next 18 months.....
