Overnight Clips From A Revolutionary Egypt
You won't see these images on the TV. After all we haven't even anniversaried Waddell & Reed's sudden and dramatic selling of ES into a bidless market that caused the world's most "liquid" stock market to lose 1,000 points. In the meantime, what is going on in Egypt is promptly deteriorating. Our only question is: who's next?

you know... people with that kind of talent should never kill themselves...
I mean, to be able to do something like that... I'd bet he could have had his own TV show...
Give them circus and bread!
Or at least an Etrade account so they can buy NFLX and get rich like us. No one needs to work Egyptians... you just need to open a US brokerage account.
*cuts sarcasm with knife*
...
the ramp up in stocks while this unfolds is just impious
..but deliberate...
World food riots and political instablity - quick sell gold and oil
This might be good for Tunisians and anyone who follows. Change is much needed in the region, dominated by autocracy. Food inflation, sure, but more importantly, the "The pent-up frustration in a suffocating political climate", as a friend of mine opines: http://www.thegeopolitico.com/2011/01/revolution-tainment-curious-case-of.html
Shoo-be-doo-wah

Who's next? Nomura has already made the list of the next countries for us.

Also, Chinese New Year falls on Feb 3rd. It'll be interesting to see what happens to their 7 day repo rate once that passes.
In the second video shows IAEA Atomic Inspector wiggling his way to rule Egypt. That is a very strong indication that the Oligarchs are behind these insurrections, just probably a puppet show - replace Mubabrak by El-Baradei and the show will go on. Unless I see a Muslim Brotherhood taking power this is all farce. Hilary still supporting Mubarak in word atleast.
Did you notice BO celebrating the overthrow of the Tunisian dictator during the SOTU speech?
Well, it looks like the entire North of Africa is rioting.
So....
WEST AFRICA!!!
MAKE! SOME! NOISE!!!
Americans are gutless to rally against the government.
That took a lot of guts to say Axe!
Congrats!
your not american right?
We are, until we aren't.
Sad but true. Americans are brainwashed and pussy whipped by TV. It is all crap. Another ball game or reality show will come on. No need to let reality intrude when you have 200 channels of brainwashing in HD.
Meanwhile the islamic usurper and the banskters/Fed destroy America.
They should kick this Mubbarak as they did with Sadam.
Must be the snow in Egypt
I agree. Copts should be protected but then they will lose their culture and history once they immigrate. Muslims have the worst record recently on protecting minorities.
Christian populations in the Middle East and surrounding areas were fairly stable until the West started mucking about in the affairs of those nations. Ask the Palestinian Christians who they fear most.
Writing as a Christian - Thank you for countering the utter bullshit of the usual islamophobic claptrap.
You're welcome.
I just Junked you because Half Knowledge is the worst. Ill treatment of minorities and foreign agression for Gold has been there from Islamic empires even before West was West.
Get your facts straight. FYI I lived all my life among Muslims and many are my friends and admire certain traditional values in islam.
Only when they become Majority, headache starts for minority.
Thousand of years of have gone by and nothing has changed in the Land of the Pharaoh.
This pyramid clearly illustrates hierachy in Egypt as it stands today:
http://missolson.net/html/LessonPlans/6-2,%206-8,%206-9%20Social%20Studi...
Geesh! That pyramid thingy sorta reminds me of...............life here in the U.S.!!!
it is even on your fiat FRN's...
As anyone who's been to Egypt or worked with them will know, there are some golden rules:
it's always someone else's fault
no matter how bad your problem is, they have a worse one
everybody's got their own idea how to fix everything, and they won't listen to any else, but will keep talking.
they will never give an honest answer if they can think of a more elaborate alternative
Seriously, if they lose the strong man leadership and embrace the idea of democracy, we'll end up with 18 million political parties, and only the Islamic Brotherhood will get people to vote for them without favors and bribes.
I'm sorry that this sounds vaguely racist, but anyone who's tried to work in or with Egyptians will understand.
it's always someone else's fault
no matter how bad your problem is, they have a worse one
everybody's got their own idea how to fix everything, and they won't listen to any else, but will keep talking.
Ah, so they have adopted Western values? How nice.
You're right, the Muslim Brotherhood will seek to exploit and coopt these movements.
That is what they are sworn to do.
There will be no revolution in Ireland..
There is nothing to see here, carry on about your business, everything is ok..
Now, where's my feckin I-pod??
Wikipedia and Newsweek?
I always thought I got warmer and colder by changing the setting on my thermostat, not by breathing faster.
Suggestion: Look first at the heat source, rather than the feedstock of photosynthesis, required for all life on the planet.
Notwithstanding that, you still should use less gas.
did you know the majority of the heat in you body is created from breathing?
Those poor defenceless bastards, they only have sheer numbers to reppel plastic-clad monkies.
Hillary is saying all the right things about supporting democracy and human rights in the media.
Wonder what she's saying to Mubarak off camera.
Hillary to Mubarek: "Don't be an idiot and get caught with the goods like that fuck from Tunisia!"
Or "You've got to put a stop to this now, whatever it takes! You don't want to see what happens if you don't--and we don't want to see where this will go next. We cannot tolerate a world where every nation deposes their dictators--don't worry, we'll supply whatever you need, just name your price."
+1000
"Those Louis Vuitton bags must weigh several tons! Why don't you put those in my plane."
There is something irresistibly insane in watching and participating in crowds going at it. It is somewhat like a sporting event on steroids. The pity is, the next bastard who will seize the moment and grabs the power may or may not be better.
Still is doing something better than just sitting there and continuing the status quo?
Depends, .. on the cost vs benefit analysis, lol but in our case (any Western Economy), I would say yes !
The long term benefits of shaking dat political machine and bringing the new faces will
outmatch costs... Not calling for riots, but a somewhat peaceful mass demonstration in the center of every large city, with demands for a f. change for a change and breaking up the financial lobby would be nice.
And don't give us a f. energy independence by 2035 bull shit promisses, we want the open responsible government and we want it now !
Why, well cause we deserve better.
p.s. It is kind of disappointing not to see young people repeating the 60's movement and demanding better government. Generation X, Y & Z.. it is about time you left your mark in history, about damn time.
p.p.s. At work, don't have time for the spell check, etc .. I am sorry :)
Less Govt == Better Govt
Try Somalia for a vacation sometime...
The tryanny of corrupt government officials all around the world will come to an end sooner or later-- peacefully or violently-- but it will end. While we're on the subject, let's talk about ending central banks and the main culprit behind central planning: IMF. The IMF is corrupted and useless today, more concerned about maintaining an ideal sense of europe while ignoring the problems that persist globally and in the peripery nations as a result.
Encouraging they're demonstrating while talking about human rights.
That is a fundamental principle Western democracy
Hopefully it has rubbed off and some good may come of this.
Everybody is Irish now.
Ah yes, "western democracy," the brainwashed mindset/populist front that has helped us to:
-develop and use, ruthlessly, all the most horrible weapons of the last 200 years;
-take fiat currency far beyond its logical end, turning the biggest liars into the biggest winners and starving much of the world;
-extend "the vote" to any imbecile with a pulse, guaranteeing that "elections" are swayed by whoever is best at manipulating idiots, regardless of how easily more intelligent people see through their lies;
-create and advertise the highest principles of decency, while doing virtually the exact opposite in reality.
Etc. etc. Aristotle was quite right. If you don't know what that means, you need to look it up.
In a nutshell.
elitist drek. (spit!)
Let's look at who's choosing our legislators and executive at the present time:
http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/
Do you actually think this is the best possible system of governance?
I don't think someone should be allowed to vote unless they are, at a minimum, capable of taking basic care of their personal finances, managing a very simple business, and mature, moral and responsible enough that you could, in good conscience, let them babysit a few children for an afternoon.
A majority of our current legislators would fail that test, and I don't think they got there by being voted in by people who meet that test.
MadMax;
What do you think would be the outcome of a similar system which would be used prior to each airline flight.
i.e. The passengers choose the (dumbest / richest / sexiest / take your pick) to be the cockpit crew. Dumbocracy at wurk!
Cruise ships could do the same.
Would anyone ever arrive at his destination?
And thus, your lack of reading comprehension proves Mad Max's point.

dont hold back next time... tell us how you really feel...
I LOVE! what you said... I do, God strike me dead, I do... but I have to disagree...
I know, bare with me...
There should be no citizen of the United States.. that is so ignorant.. to elect what we now have.. ever again.. We (me and you Max, everyone else too) should make sure to educate anyone and everyone we can.. if we fail at insuring minimum requirements for education then we doom the next generation to suffer being robbed blind by inflation part duex... feel me?
Everyone should be educated and everyone should be able to vote.. '
The flip side of the arguement that you are making, I made when I was 25... I should be able to vote based on the taxes I pay. If I pay taxes as compared to 15% of my community, then I should get 15% of the vote based on my level of responsibility / shouldering the carry of that community... see it gets real dicey real quick when we throw our ego in... I am one man, what I do as one man is my business but I should not have more rights than any other one man... regardless of how much more I pay than any other man.
I hope that helped, I really was not trying to be a dick.
Everybody is Irish now.
Hopefully, in the near future the Irish will turn out to be Tunisians.
I want to eat you.
The sad thing is that the videos of this purported "revolution" look calmer and friendlier than any WTO protest and response in any G20 country.
I don't know, despite all these almost-gleeful posts every time a country goes off the rails, I wouldn't wish violence and chaos on anyone. Doesn't anyone want stability and peace? Criminals - whoever they are should feel the full force of the law, but come on! Nobody wants riots, bloodshed and chaos in their own backyards, surely? Be careful what you wish for.
"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is
wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts
they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions,
it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...
And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not
warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of
resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as
to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost
in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from
time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
It is its natural manure."
-- Thomas Jefferson
(1743-1826), US Founding Father, drafted the Declaration of Independence, 3rd US President Source: November 13, 1787, letter to William S. Smith, quoted in Padover's Jefferson On Democracy, ed., 1939I should have known somebody would bring up Jefferson! :) Yes, I am more than familiar with him - my club in London occupies the room where the Treaty of Paris was drafted by Ben Franklin, concluding the Declaration of Independence.
Alright, if it must happen may it be quick, painless, and effective then. But I doubt it - the nature of chaos is its unpredictability and the baying mob is a senseless monster. Armed conflicts almost always affect the innocents the most. I wouldn't wish it on anyone - even Americans.
The problem with political lethargy is that it is only a temporary solution... I agree with your sentiments and I do not expect skittles and unicorns... but, unfortunately, I see few likely alternative scenarios.
They're rioting in Africa
tra la la la lah
They're starving in Spain

There are hurricanes in Florida
And Texas needs rain.....

The French hate the Yugoslavs
The Yugoslavs hate the Dutch
And I don't like anybody very much!
Kingston Trio?
Who is next?
My guess is that the personal butt wipes at the House of Sauds are working overtime by now.
No need to worry here about Egypt. Erin Burnett is on the case "talking to businessmen there." They say they have things under control and that cell phones represent a great opportunity there. Not kidding.
It's all good....move along...
So Erin 'B Cup' Burnett is being told by Egyptian businessmen with ties to the Egyptian Regime that "there is an app for the riots"...

I gotta go get food and I'm no longer stocking up very much. Too much pressure is being pumped on the poor.
If you stock up and later feel guilty, you will be in a good position to donate food to a food bank (etc.) at a time of need. Or just to friends/relatives without foresight. Seriously.
you can always right the food off as a tax item... if donated to a 504c? dont quote me on that number but it sounds right.

This is old video of a $50 Cent concert. Everyone in Egypt is thankful for their government and the supportive way they are being nurtured and fed.
You could be the White House Press Secretary or the US AG. Either in the future, or perhaps you are the current Holder of one of those offices. Well?
Arabia is definitely a powder keg.
Although, the Great Satan protects the Saudi royal family from the external threats, thereby freeing up the army and security service to focus on beating down the internal threats.
What we are seeing is the end of the line of the lies and obfuscation that happens when an economy has been hijacked and it's wealth taken and the govt. is telling you the opposite. These people as in Tunisia are tired of the lies the corruption the double speak the blatant hypocrisy of their society. Young people with degrees and no jobs (sound familiar), retirees money isn't going as far as it should, etc. etc.. These people aren't dumb, they want the status quo to end and end now. Will this happen in the US, yes it will but not against the state. As we have done before, the govt. will make a boogeyman for the restless population to go after. And then let them fight it out.
ok.. for the Palin, Praise Jesus.. Drill Baby!! Drill!!! Crowd...
Seeing is believing, right? or am I making your eyes lie to you with the devils magic?
you decide...
