Pelosi Calls For Weiner Ethics Inquiry
First we had the bread (or some other Oscar Meyer product)...Now comes the circus. Politico reports that Pelosi has just called for a "Weiner Ethics Inquiry." Um... What is there to inquire: the guy sent out pictures of his wiener in clear abuse of his political position (leaving his family drama aside) from a Twitter account that was obviously that of an elected official. It's unethical - period (to spare various other adjectives that come to mind). He should resign immediately. Then again, New Yorkers once again get precisely the representatives that they deserve. A far better inquiry (and thus use of taxpayer capital) would be to discover who else among the political elite does just the same on a daily basis (Weiner is certainly not alone), and has merely not been caught yet.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Rep. Steve Israel, the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, are calling for an investigation into Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) over the series of sexually explicit conservations and lewd photos he exchanged with a half-dozen women during the last several years.
“I am deeply disappointed and saddened about this situation; for Anthony’s wife, Huma, his family, his staff and his constituents,” Pelosi said in a statement released on Monday night.
“I am calling for an Ethics Committee investigation to determine whether any official resources were used or any other violation of House rules occurred.”
Israel added: “Congressman Anthony Weiner engaged in a deep personal failure and inappropriate behavior that embarrassed himself, his family, and the House. Ultimately, Anthony and his constituents will make a judgment about his future .
“To remove all remaining doubt about this situation, I agree with Leader Pelosi’s request that the House Ethics Committee use its authority to begin an investigation.”
The calls by Pelosi and Israel for an ethics investigation dramatically raise the political stakes for Weiner. While he stated repeatedly during an emotional press conference on Monday that he had broken no laws nor violated House ethics rules during his interaction with the women, a probe by the House Ethics Committee could find differently.
And it also could provide Pelosi and other Democratic leaders with political cover to call on Weiner to step down. So far, none of his Democratic colleagues have called on him to give up the seat that he first won in 1998.
“I am deeply regretting what I have done, and I am not resigning,” the New York Democrat told reporters on Monday afternoon. “I am deeply sorry for the pain this has caused Huma, my wife, and my family.”

Who gives a fuck...JFK was banging Marilyn Monroe. Just because we live in the world of Internet and 24 hour news doesn't mean this stuff never happened. It's ALWAYS happened...for fucking thousands of years. And guess what it's always gonna happen. I'm getting pretty tired of all the wasted "news" and collective time drain of these useless stories(I excuse ZH).

Wiener lied about his wiener. Pelosi lied about being notified, that the Bush administration was torturing prisoners of war. I ask you, what was the most important lie. By the way, a public official, that knows about the torture of prisoners of war, and does nothing to stop it, is guilty of a war crime. One more lying politician, that would be unwise to go to Switzerland.
I Just dont see the need for a massive weiner hunt in congress. I dont really care about my congressrat sexting. Maybe it will keep him too busy to spend money or write useless laws.
You should care. You should care that an employee of yours (mine and every other taxpayer here) is wasting time and our resources by engaging in just unproductive activities, not to mention these sorts of unethical acts.
Any elected official who allows themselves to become so morally corrupt and flat out lie to everyone in the country in an attempt to cover up something such as this is a tremendous security risk for starters. How easy would it be for some subversive organization to manipulate him should they really get thier hooks in him. On top of that, he chastized, ridiculed and struck out against anyone who was asking him questions about this event. He deserves nothing less than our unfaithfulness in his continuing to operate his duties in a trustworthy fashion - he needs to resign or be removed.
