Pentagon Papers Whistleblowers Call for a New 9/11 Investigation

George Washington's picture

Washington’s Blog

The main players in releasing the Pentagon Papers were Daniel Ellsberg and Senator Mike Gravel.

Ellsberg
is, of course, the former military analyst and famed whistleblower who
smuggled the Pentagon Papers out of the Rand Corporation.

Senator
Gravel is the person who read the Pentagon Papers into the
Congressional Record. This act made the papers public record, so that
they could not be censored by the government.

Ellsberg and Gravel are receiving a lot of media attention right now for their support of Wikileaks.

But little attention has been paid to Ellsberg and Gravel's support for a new 9/11 investigation.

Ellsberg says that the case of a certain 9/11 whistleblower is "far more explosive than the Pentagon Papers". (Here's some of what that whistleblower says.)

He also said that the government is ordering the media to cover up her allegations about 9/11.

And
he said that some of the claims concerning government involvement in
9/11 are credible, that "very serious questions have been raised about
what they [U.S. government officials] knew beforehand and how much
involvement there might have been", that engineering 9/11 would not be
humanly or psychologically beyond the scope of those in office, and
that there's enough evidence to justify a new, "hard-hitting"
investigation into 9/11 with subpoenas and testimony taken under oath
(see this and this).

Senator Gravel has long supported a new 9/11 investigation. Gravel told the Daily Caller this week:

Individuals
in and out of government may certainly have participated with the
obviously known perpetrators of this dastardly act. Suspicions abound
over the analysis presented by government. Obviously an act that has
triggered three wars, Afghan, Iraqi and the continuing War on Terror,
should be extensively investigated which was not done and which the
government avoids addressing.

Other high-level whistleblowers have alleged a cover-up as well.

For example, Air Force Colonel and key Pentagon official Karen Kwiatkowski - who blew the whistle on the Bush administration's efforts to concoct false intelligence about Iraqi weapons of mass destruction - wrote (page 26):

I
have been told by reporters that they will not report their own
insights or contrary evaluations of the official 9/11 story, because to
question the government story about 9/11 is to question the very
foundations of our entire modern belief system regarding our government,
our country, and our way of life. To be charged with questioning these
foundations is far more serious than being labeled a disgruntled
conspiracy nut or anti-government traitor, or even being sidelined or
marginalized within an academic, government service, or literary career.
To question the official 9/11 story is simply and fundamentally
revolutionary. In this way, of course, questioning the official story is
also simply and fundamentally American.

Indeed, Ellsberg and Gravel join a long list of high-level former officials in the government and intelligence services - including many well-known whistleblowers - who have publicly demanded a new investigation.

And see this.

ok monkees, I am a believer, it started a couple years ago when my friend in NE said he met this former state Sen who had the goods on most everyone in the S&L scandal, including money funneled to Iran Contra, and the MZM CIA brainwashing program, and the Bush (I) pedophile ring. Whew too much for me, I said, but I read the book, Franklin Coverup. Then out of the blue, a former right wing blogger named Jeff Gannon shows up in the WH pressroom. No credentials. No history, go ahead look it up, got a birthdate or hometown?

Now its getting weird, so I went back and read Tarpley's Unauthorized Bio of Geo I. Whew too much I said. Then 9/11 and Tarpley is sending the same message. Ok just way too much. Then of course in the closing days of the Bush admin, there was all this banter, that GEO might not leave office, that he might create another false flag operation and cancel the elections. Whew way way too much for me. Then the financial crisis, and Hank Paulson telling lies, then getting the money and changing the bailout program on the fly. Whew too too too much. Then Obama crying change change, and taking Goldmans money, and not doing anything different. Whew oooh whew, surely there must be guys with shotguns standing outside the WH? it all stinks to high heaven, and no one does anything? oh daddy I tell people and they tell me, give Barry a chance. I say, being a life long Democrat, he ran out of chances when he took Goldmans money.

but i grew up watching the aftermath of the Kennedy assassination on late night TV, was that great stuff. I watched endless analysis of the Zapruder tapes. But there was no closure, there will be no closure now. America is too big too fail. The Disney executives run the place. The conspirators are pushing their luck and guys like Assange will do the deed on them sooner or later, and like all banana republics there will be retribution..

The Franklin cover-up –Jeff Gannon linkage is too much. Most Americans are  politically childish and brainwashed to register this material. A bunch of pedo-freaks populate the government and are controllable because they get serviced and are blackmail-able.  Tarpley’s take is good on most things.

“….Assange will do the deed on them sooner or later…” got to disagree with you on this one. It looks like Assange is MK Ultra fodder. Yeah he’s being set up but the “disclosures” he was ‘fed’ will be CIA controlled and he will be used to shut down the web. Cass Sunstein, one of Obama’s Stalinist Zsars was in on the Wikileak scheme at its inception in 2007. Check it out. At least that’s what I’m hearing.

I don't believe the the entire "web" will be shut down, rather, there will be "security" legislation enacted, which will ensure that all big corporations are "protected."  Big corporations are reliant upon the web, they will, as they always have, join their masters in govt to kill competition, suppress dissent [facts] and further control the masses.

I think the most pressing need for TPTB to suppress the internet was to cover up the truth emerging about the false flag of 9/11.  When you find out the probable instigators and who profited by this treason there should be no place on earth they could hide.  I naively believed the MSM propaganda until I started to use my computer to find out the truth.   There are many paid shills and useful idiots trying to divert the search for that truth.   The information that is available is constantly quashed.   If you read this site and use the internet with a critical mind you may find out for yourself.  These topics make it painfully obvious who are the paid posters.

I don't see what the big deal is.  Does anyone seriously doubt that bureaucratic fumbling, PC hoop-jumping and compliance culture red-tape played the biggest role in the failure to prevent the 9/11 hijackers from being nabbed or thwarted before they were able to pull off their plan?

Besides, if this thing actually revs up it's going to look like Obama is creating a sideshow while Rome burns and that will just piss voters off even more.  9/11 Truth don't pay the bills.

Just a few points of hundreds.

If it wasn't fixed in advance the planes that hit the towers would have been shot down or forced down within 15 min of hijack report.

Huge puts and shorts were made on the arlines and others just before 9/11 and were not investigated.

WTC7 was obviously imploded.  The investigations proceeding were dropped.  Cui bono?

The towers were also imploded after the aircraft hits.  Steel supports cut just the right size to fit on flat bed trailers for the most part.

The Pentagon was not hit with a passenger jet, as is obvious when analyzing the damage.  Damaged  area is much to narrow for passenger jet, compare with impacts on towers. The damage is more consistent with a missile, as is the color of the fireball.  Also nothing as big and slow as a passenger jet could get through the Pentagon's defenses unless a stand down order was given.

I could give a damn about the problems of our talk show host in chief.  The people who perpetrated this on innocent American civilians and honorably serving military need to be publically hung for treason.

There are a lot of people who need to be hung for treason, and your points are valid ones.  I just don't see anything getting done by the beginning of 2012.  Every Time the establishment fictionalize the fight against them, by diverting the American public attention on the off promise someone may go to jail, they win.  If we can't get execs and CEO of banks to go to jail for obvious disgusting fraud, and stick wielding Black Panther party members caught on video tape with eyewitness accounts to stand trial do you honestly think you are going to be able to get a meaningful trial, which exposes the traitors in such a light that they will get strung up?  I don't think so.

In my opinion it is more reasonable to focus on what is to come and try to stop the oncoming train by derailing it before it slams head long into the unsuspecting American public.  We have two years to expose and destroy a nefarious network of inscrutable and determined people.  Who hate the U.S. for the many freedoms we still have.  I am sure if the bigger picture is exposed the images like the 9/11 conspiracy will show up in developing image.

I don't care if I get junked all day long as long as people realize I do feel for the patriot Americans who lost their lives in that tradagy, but I want to save all Americans from what is to come, and that is the total loss of our Sovereignty as a free Republic.  If you can't see the greater good then by all means junk me again!

Yeah, it's not like 9/11 was the lynch pin event of the cascade of crimes committed since then right? I mean it wasn't used as a justification to massively increase debts (wars), strip away freedoms (Patriot act, TSA, DHS etc. etc.) and justify ever increasing government bureaucracy right? I mean it didn't result in the largest expansion of government since the end of WWII right (DHS cough cough)? It certainly hasn't been used to ram legislation that empowers banks, corporations and the government to intervene in citizens lives and steal the national treasure right?

Oh wait, 9/11 is the ONLY way all those things could have been foisted on us. You are obviously a partisan Republican who lives in a fantasy world of a vast worldwide socialist conspiracy that magically leaves ONLY the Republican party free of it's taint. Wake up and note that Republicans have expanded the debt more than anyone in the past 30 years and have expanded the government (Pentagon, Intel agencies, DHS) as well. The Dems job is to be weak opposition and to give the audience a change up now and then before more socialism for the wealthy and corporations can be installed. Your creeping socialism (I would say it's more rightly called fascism/corporatism) is just as much a Republican thing as it is Democratic. Wake up and smell your burning freedoms.

Number one, you need to take a downer!

Number two, I did not say that people were wrong in their ideas?  As a matter of fact I agree with most all the conclusions floated in this thread.  I also applaud the previous poster, being the gentlemen/women, that he/she pointed out that it is just as valid that people can attack from multiple angles in a hope to weaken or distract those orchestrating the destruction of our Sovereignty.

I see the oncoming threat, most people who take the time to look into 9/11 already see the villainy and what it has caused.  However, it will never be translated to the mass of Americans because most Americans don't have a long term memory, and their short term memory is pretty shot as well.  That is why I feel focusing on the present is a much more productive and possibly better way of stopping what will happen.

And number Three, I am a Libratarian.  It is funny you can even discern something like, me being a Republican, from a couple posts.  Or were you trying to hurt my feelings?  I mean if I were to do such from your one post, I would automatically conclude you are an anti-social asshole who has a hard time controlling his emotions, and does not feel the need to try and express himself productively because he/she believes he/she is so much smarter than the rest of the world.  However, I would probably be wrong.

edit:  ahhh I think I understand why you associated me with Republicans.  It was because of my Marxist/Socialist pig comment.  Right?  My choice for making this comment has nothing to do with Glen Beck.  He only has a small part of it right.  You need to pull your head out of your conspiracy theory and see what is going on around the world, and at the U.N.  You may be dead on when it comes to 9/11, but if you don't see that 9/11 is just a step towards a single world government you maybe the one who needs to wake up.  Start with U.N. Agenda 21 or by its fuzzy name Sustainable Development..

Oh yes, and I even agree with everyone one of your points, but I had already come to those conclusions before your rant.

It is so nice to see that civil discourse is not dead, and that those who have opposing ideas can come to a place like ZH and discuss issues of a sensitive and obscure nature without fear of being persecuted.  I am glad I quit going to Fox and MSNBC to come here.

Don't think I called you names like you did to me or suggested you take mind altering substances. Looks to me like while I was being harsh and didactic you were engaging in ad hominems. When criticizing someone's level of politeness you might want to think about not calling them an asshole. Kind of ruins your point don't you think?

However, I would probably be wrong.

That is why I added the above line.  I was trying to make a point, and I believe I did.  Would you prefer I roll over and not responded to your attack?  I mean if you think you are so innocent why are you trying to convenience me?  If you are seeking an apology from me for responding to an UNWARRANTED attack by you, I cannot placate your wounded ego.

May I suggest next time when you are frustrated at a subject, and you have a differing opinion, you might try clarifying your points, and it will allow your opponents to clarify theirs.  That way altercations like this my be avoided in the future.

Good day!

I did not junk you.

Our difference is in choice of focus, and how to proceed.  We apparently agree on the character our enemies.  We might also agree that "something wicked this way comes" but, unlike you, i don't know its' exact appearance, or that it's on a train, if so which one, or the schedule.  So i focus on the enemy i see.

The stuff is likely headed for the fan, but when it hits the power may be out!  Maybe the fan could be turned around!  Either is more likely if the people setting up the fan are distracted.

I see your effort as complementary, but think the others should be continued.

I agree, and thank you for taking the time to discuss this.  I know that 9/11 is probably the most important event to happen to this country in recient history.  I just feel the average person at this point has probably gone on with their life, and has stopped asking questions.  They have gone back to being forced fed the news by one team or another depending on what side they have chosen to believe.  The news is as corrupt and biased as our politicians and any hope of bringing a story like this into the mainstream media would shock me dead if it ever happened.

Maybe if we could incorporate the WTC7 theories somehow into dancing with the stars, desperate housewives or american idol, mainstream America would start paying attention again.

I could care less about being junked.  I don't believe in the pratice.

The Fed and the Caymans: New ‘Jaw-Dropping’ Bailout Details
December 9, 2010 • 9:57AM
Analyses including some from the staff of Sen. Bernie Sanders, whose amendment has forced the Federal Reserve to release the details of its bank bailouts since mid-2008, continue to show that “TARP was just pocket change” and that the bailout was in the many, many trillions —

perhaps in the range of $16 trillion total. Much of it went to foreign financial firms, and/or was loaned by the Fed against crap collateral, in violation of the Federal Reserve law.
Two aspects of these reports are most shocking. First, foreign banks and financial corporations tapped 4,200 different loans/securities purchases under 13 different bailout programs of the Fed for $3.8 trillion total: the credit/financial arms of Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan, BMW, VW, Honda; the central banks of Mexico, Bavaria, and Korea, and the Arab Banking Corporation in Bahrain; the British Empire’s Inter-Alpha banks Société Générale, Santander, Royal Bank of Scotland, and Banco Popular; and other European megabanks ING, Dexia, HSBC. In one Fed program, the Commercial Paper Funding Facility (CPFF), foreign financial firms got 68% of the $396 billion in bailout loans.
Second, under one of those programs, the Term Asset-Backed Securities Lending Program (TALF), the Fed loaned at least $60.8 billion to more than 100 hedge funds, private equity funds, and other funds located in the Caymans or other British offshore havens.
These funds are, right now, conducting intense speculations on the bonds of various European nations, in particular those of Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Belgium, and now Germany; and they are publicly attacking the European Central Bank for failing to throw in enough of its own buying, to make sure they make superprofits. Is the Federal Reserve currently lending to those funds? Or, through the IMF, to those government?
Third, much of the information which the Sanders amendment required on what collateral the Fed was taking for its many trillions in bailout loans, is missing from Fed’s disclosure. But what Senator Sanders’ staff estimate so far, is that 36% of the collateral pledged to the Fed’s primary dealer [overnight] credit facility was merely stock — this is not allowed under the Federal Reserve Act — or bonds ranked below investment grade. Another 17% of the collateral was unrated — downright pornographic — credit or loans.
The biggest mass of low-grade/illegal collateral was pledged immediately after the September 2008 Lehman collapse, by Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch, which were clearly going to collapse themselves, without the Fed bailouts.
