As Pentagon Releases Details Of Osama Compound, Iran Claims bin Laden Killed Due To Risk Of Leaking Joint US-Al Qaeda Operations

Tyler Durden's picture

Minutes ago, the Pentagon released a 5 page powerpoint presentation showing exclusive details of the Abbottabad compound where bin Laden was supposedly killed (and where the PCR test to confirm he was in fact "he", took about 1/20th the time it usually takes in leading US Universities). And even as the Pentagon collects kudos from the population for spending hundreds of millions and taking ten years to eliminate a person who is now largely irrelevant tactically (if not symbolically), Fars News out of Iran proposes an alternative explanation of everything that happened on Sunday night: "The West was fully satisfied with bin Laden's performance during the
past years and today… it was obliged to kill him to prevent possible
leakage of the priceless intelligence that he had," member of the
parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Javad
Jahangirzadeh told FNA on Monday. Surely not something that the US public would want to hear...

From the Pentagon's just released powerpoint (full presentation here)

And here is Fars News with a radical counterexplanation of what really happened:

TEHRAN (FNA)- The US has killed the Al-Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden, in a bid to prevent any possible leakage of intelligence and information about the US-Al-Qaeda joint terrorist operations, a senior Iranian legislator underscored on Monday.

"The West was fully satisfied with bin Laden's performance during the past years and today… it was obliged to kill him to prevent possible leakage of the priceless intelligence that he had," member of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Javad Jahangirzadeh told FNA on Monday.

He mentioned that the West seeks to rebuild its damaged face in the international community, and reiterated that Bin Laden's survival could endanger the interests of the western countries and disclose their past and future clandestine operations.

Jahangirzadeh warned the world countries that the West has hatched a new plot to find new pretexts for invading and occupying the Muslim countries.

Obama announced on Sunday that bin Laden was killed in a US operation in Pakistan.

Obama said he had directed helicopter-borne US armed forces to launch an attack against a heavily fortified compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan on Sunday acting on a lead that first emerged last August.

"A small team of Americans… killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body," Obama said.

Senior US officials said that in addition to bin Laden, three adult males died in the raid, two who were believed to be couriers for the Al-Qaeda leader, and one who was said to be one of his adult sons.

One woman who was being used as a human shield was also killed, the officials said.

The report stated that there were no phone or internet service connected to the building.

So, it just meant there were no landlines providing service.

I dont know why people are saying pcr because that isnt necessary, and if you are the president you can get your test bumped to the top of the list.

Most genotyping isnt done "stat" because it is not an emergency. What they probably did was rflp or restriction fragment length polymorphisms. Quick and cheap, if you are the president! I dont think pcr was necessary and perhaps they were confused. You do pcr on small samples. Even a few drops of blood is sufficient for RFLP or other genetic tests.

Mon, 05/02/2011 - 14:22 | 1230877 JohnG
JohnG's picture

I repeat:

The technique for RFLP analysis is, however, slow and cumbersome. It requires a large amount of sample DNA, and the combined process of probe labeling, DNA fragmentation, electrophoresis, blotting, hybridization, washing, and autoradiography could take up to a month to complete.

Maybe, maybe not. No way to know with these fuckers. Maybe they want you to think they are lying. Maybe the opposite is false as well - they set up a false dichotomy. Maybe they don't care. One thing you can be (mostly) sure of is that you won't get the complete truth 99% of the time. They may throw some truth out there every now and then knowing you won't believe it just to fuck with you though, like Count Dooku did to Obi-Wan: "What if I told you the republic was being run by a Sith Lord?"

I miss Marla and her 'cavalary' & other daring writings. Being not happy about obl demise while being an American no matter your background is stupid.

I am not saying one should believe everything that comes out of the government, I am saying one should employ some reason while doing so.

I am rather sad to see so much sheep in here. No matter the color and views, when someone makes a judjement based on emotions or wishbelifs, that someone is nothing more than a sheep. http://www.sheep101.info/

At any rate, I would like to thank ZH for their often interesting persepctive and coverage. And wish the best of luck, etc to whoever isn't a sheep.

bullshit Comrade,   Why should I be happy about OBL

Having served in the US Military   US Army Military Intelligence(I know an oxymoron, I've heard that joke a million times)...I think I've earned the right not to trust my government without being called a sheep.  Navy Seals are trained well....but they are pawns being used and manipulated to carry out the dirty task of the elite.

Is knowing that someone responsible for the death of 3,000  of your countryman a good reason to be happy?

And I did not imply that anyone who doesn't trust the government is a sheep. However anyone who ignores facts and reason and just follows without questioning ether side or himself, is.

Such a pleasant encore performance to the Royal wedding. The sheep must have some serious sore throats after so much baaaaing this weekend. As for Osama Bin La De Da, you make for a great scapegoat from the reality that is facing America today. Buried at Sea and never to be seen again? Now we have to face the ramifications from such an event. Things are stirring up all over the Middle East and this certainly will add fuel to the fire as it was intended to do. As the World Global Reserve currency collapses right before our very eyes, drastic measures must be taken to divert its demise. While the sheep nurse their sore baaaaing throats with stockpiles of Ricola, might I suggest you save a few for the pain that is coming from all the crying we may indure. I see this as a warning flare shot high in the air marking the start of something really scary for Westerners and instead of feeling safer from the threat of terrorism, I'm feeling more vulnerable then ever.

Wow, I know most of us traders are conspiracy theorists at heart, but you are giving the US government, OBL, and the New World Order a little too much credit here.

First of all, to think that we are good enough to orchestrate all of theis 'stuff' and keep it a secret is ludicrous.  ther eare way to many people who want something; power, prestige, money, political appiontment, etc.  To keep anything a secret for very long.

Occam's Razor - we finally found him and we killed him.  Powell's UN presentation was because we really believed that they were mobile labs (maybe because we wanted to).

And we should beleive the butchers in Iran because they've been so truthful in the past?  Ahmenijad is the perfect picture of sanity right guys?

And, why shouldn't Americans be happy that we got this guy?  Is it only ok for Arabs to take to the streets, or londoners or anybody else?

I doubt it was 'heavily' guarded. Being 'heavily guarded would make it suspicious and would kill the rationale of hiding in a relatively visible place.

It's just the usual media hiccup similar to a statement that only Cobra attack helos were involved. (Those do not have the capacity to carry people over long distance.)

I think they didn't prepare as much as the teleprompter says, the Navy Seals were rushed and the whole story is fishy. However the fact is OBL is dead and in the end, that is what matters. It is a closure for a huge number of people. Unfortunately, our government using this story to end the oversees involvement  just wishful thinking.

Earl, I was a molecular biologist's bench monkey back in the day. Yes OBL had family in Boston. Operation was over 45 minutes Sunday, with DNA match and sea launch per Osama er Obama. Agree SNP match would take a couple of hours. More "ingredients" than standard Sea Monkey kit.
TCT, Human Genome Project rendered Restriction Frag Length Polymorphism analysis basically obsolete for human matching.
Thus if it is being stated that match was made on site post kill, I call bullshit.

What is true that death of OBL has created a power vacuum in terrorist ranks, also removed some kind of restrictive authority which Osama possessed as he was unable to act, but no one else took leadership. Now the fight for the place as the top jihadist will begin in earnest, meaning MORE spontaneous independent terror acts. So, in some sense, it was better for stability that he was alive but with diminished capability. And, of course, as fate was invited, some of these acts of terror will happen in current hot spots- MENA , Israel, Oil producers.

From that point of view, may be it was foolish to bring him down now when the USA economy is in shambles. I bet it was a cost Obama was willing to take to still participate in the USA popularity contest. But it may cost him in oil prices, sooner or later. And then, QE is over. It already seems to be over since latest jobless figures suggest easing does not anymore produce jobs, so that part of mandate is gone, only inflation remains, which, if unchecked, can in fact increase unemployment.

I went and got a second opinion:

Wasn't a hide-out, it was a prison. Obama's been under the nice watchful eye of Pakistani Intel for all these years, right in the heartland of their intelligence agencies. House arrest, basically - torture possibly on the menu - in a custom made compound that serves as a poor defensive setup, but good cage; Guantanamo too public, if its known he's being held, then lots of reciprocal kidnapping. And then he went and died on them.

Cue Operation Hollywood (papering over the tracks of Pakistani intel claiming some of the credit, blah blah) and job done. Add some Iranian spice to blow smoke over it.

This wasn't my thinking, but as it goes - it explains a lot of the cognitive dissonance with this one; there's a flaw though. If you already have him, why hold taxi drivers and clueless old men in Guantanamo? No logic to that one, other than as psyops examples (The US is not to be fucked with, this is what happens).

At this point - I'd go with a story that doesn't make your brain melt, because in Kansas you're never going to really know the truth.

That is a good one, that it was a prison.  Interesting concept.  Looking at the pictures of the inside of the compound, it would make sense.  It certainly did not look like an opulent mansion. It was close to a military complex.

With all of the security it could have just as easily have been used as a jail.  Instead of keeping people out, it could have been used to keep Osama in.

Good thought.

White House: No decision on bin Laden photo (AP) – 49 minutes ago WASHINGTON (AP) —

The White House says it has made no decision on whether to release photographic proof that Osama bin Laden is dead.

John Brennan, President Barack Obama's counterterrorism adviser, says the administration will do everything it can to make sure no one can deny U.S. claims that the al-Qaida leader was killed during a firefight with U.S. forces in Pakistan.

But Brennan says still to be determined is whether to release a photo of bin Laden's dead body. Brennan says one concern is whether doing so could potentially jeopardize similar operations and intelligence sources in the future.

The C.I.A. created Osama bin Laden.

He was a confirmed guest of British Intelligence in London in 1996.

In 2000/2001 the Taliban had destroyed Afghanistan's poppy fields, an act not so much of religious fervor as it was economic warfare.  It effectively removed an estimated $200,000,000,000 from the world markets.  It is no coincidence that we had troops on the ground by November, just in time for planting season.  Yields today are some 16X higher than they were prior to 9/11.

Obama's "Big Lie": White House Propaganda and the “Death” of Osama bin Laden

By Larry Chin Global Research, May 2, 2011

On the evening of May 1, 2011, President Barack Obama declared that the CIA, on his personal order, successfully killed Al-Qaeda “mastermind” Osama bin Laden. In a conveniently scheduled Sunday evening telecast, Obama shamelessly wielded tired lies and 9/11 propaganda, while congratulating himself and the CIA. In classic lying George W. Bush fashion, Obama announced “mission accomplished”.

Obama has pronounced Osama bin Laden to be dead. But according to historical facts and extensive documented evidence, he may never have been alive in the way that the official propaganda has portrayed him. Or alive at all.  Osama bin Laden has been a CIA asset in reality, and a propaganda boogeyman in official fiction.

The official Osama bin Laden narrative, along with “Islamic terrorism” and Al-Qaeda, is a  CIA military-intelligence fabrication designed to provide a pretext for an eternal global war agenda, and to provide an ongoing propaganda pretext for the “war on terrorism”.   The “Militant Islamic Network”, including bin Laden himself, has been, since the Cold War a intelligence network that has been “run” on behalf of Anglo-American interests.

The attack of 9/11 was a false flag operation, planned and carried out by Anglo-American intelligence assets, blamed on “Al-Qaeda”, despite no credible supporting evidence.  On the other hand, evidence abounds concerning the manipulation of terror assets, including bin Laden, by the CIA. This milieu was thoroughly examined by Mike Ruppert in Crossing the Rubicon, in which he concluded:

“Given the degree of documented intelligence penetration of  al Qaeda; the fact that Osama bin Laden had been a CIA asset during the first Afghan conflict against the Soviets; the fact that a number of the so-called hijackers and/or al Qaeda members had been trained in CIA training camps in Chechnya; had fought in CIA/US-sponsored guerrilla conflicts (e.g. in Kosovo with the KLA in 2000), or had received military training at US installations; given all that, it is reasonable to assume that one or more top al Qaeda officials were in fact double or triple agents…”

“Based upon what is known about successful intelligence penetrations for years prior to the attacks of 9/11, Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda could not have sneezed without the CIA or the NSA knowing about it.”

The assertion that bin Laden’s whereabouts have been unknown, that he could have eluded detection for a decade (including the “he’s hiding in caves along the Afghanistan/Pakistan border” and other such fables) was debunked years ago. According to a November 2003 Reuters report, bin Laden was received kidney dialysis in a US military hospital in Dubai two months before the 9/11 attacks, and again on September 10, 2001, according to Pakistani intelligence. These and other reports support the conclusion that Osama bin Laden was not only a CIA asset (one whose whereabouts were more than known), but one who was deathly ill. Other reports over the years suggest that the “mastermind” may have certainly died at some point, even while his image continued to be used incessantly to keep the “war on terrorism” alive.

President Obama’s lying before the cameras was as shameless as the clumsiness of the mainstream corporate media dance surrounding it. At the same time Obama stated in his speech that the killing of bin Laden had taken place “tonight” in a mountain hideout in Pakistan, various reporters on competing networks, citing multiple sources, contradicted Obama, stating that bin Laden was killed a week ago in a firefight near Islamabad, and that bin Laden’s body had been tested for DNA ever since. This conflict alone raises enough doubt to throw this new official story into the question. In the coming days, there will undoubtedly be more holes revealed.

Seasoned observers have said for years that Osama bin Laden---the mythic figure--- would elude capture as long as the Anglo-American elites needed to continue the current course of war in the Middle East and Central Asia. He would never be captured, absolutely never be put on trial, and would not be “killed” unless political expediency demanded it. The elites, for various reasons, have chosen this hour to end this tired and overused trump card.

The “successful kill” of bin Laden comes at a convenient time. Obama’s popularity has plummeted. His political opponents are threatening to unseat him in 2012. The continued US presence in the Middle East and support for the “war on terrorism” is fragile, weakened by popular protests, and ambivalence among Americans.

The “war on terrorism” narrative, the continuing world war done in its name, will never end. It is clear, however, that some change in course is in the works; at the very least, a tactical shift. In the meantime,  Barack Obama can now claim to have “finished the job” in Afghanistan, just as he promised to do when elected, and declare himself to be a champion anti-terrorist, a “take-charge” military leader and bastion of justice who has avenged 9/11. Obama will ride this hard for his re-election campaign.

In response to Obama’s victory speech, crowds (of unknown origin) gathered outside the White House chanting “U.S.A.”. Whether this spectacle was staged or genuine is not known. What is known is that the vast majority of the American public remains oblivious to the fact that their own government, Bush/Cheney and Obama administrations alike, have never stopped lying to them about 9/11, the “war on terrorism”, or Osama bin Laden.

On this night, Obama repeated The Big Lie, the biggest one of all.

Hmmm, there was a time when you could actually read this site and believe that  intelligent people (adults) read and commented here.  F

or those of you who say anyone who believes Osama Bibn Ladin was killed are the sheeple, your clomp clomping of hooves to the smoking gun sites for your news is rather um... sheepleish.  Some people who heard  what went on and saw the aftermath have a different persepctive. Or let me guess,  AJE is a CIA operation?

Who ever said he wasn't dead? He simply outlived his usefulness.

Intelligent people just look objectively at the facts.  Facts such as:

Between June and August 2001, the currency component of the “M1 aggregate”—which includes currency in circulation and demand deposits—reported by the US Federal Reserve, increases by the greatest amount over the June-August period since 1947, the first year for which this data is reported. [SANDERS RESEARCH ASSOCIATES, 9/16/2005DEVINE AND MILES, 1/20/2006

Numerous other overseas investigations into insider trading before 9/11 are later established. There are investigations in Belgium, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Monte Carlo, Cyprus, and other countries. There are particularly strong suspicions British markets are manipulated. Italy will later investigate suspicious share movements on the day of the attack, as well as the previous day. Japan will also look into the trading of futures contracts. [BBC, 9/18/2001FOX NEWS, 9/22/2001CNN, 9/24/2001]

German central bank president Ernst Welteke later reports that a study by his bank indicates, “There are ever clearer signs that there were activities on international financial markets that must have been carried out with the necessary expert knowledge,” not only in shares of heavily affected industries such as airlines and insurance companies, but also in gold and oil. [DAILY TELEGRAPH, 9/23/2001] His researchers have found “almost irrefutable proof of insider trading.” [MIAMI HERALD, 9/24/2001] “If you look at movements in markets before and after the attack, it makes your brow furrow. But it is extremely difficult to really verify it.” Nevertheless, he believes that “in one or the other case it will be possible to pinpoint the source.” [FOX NEWS, 9/22/2001] Welteke reports “a fundamentally inexplicable rise” in oil prices before the attacks [MIAMI HERALD, 9/24/2001] and then a further rise of 13 percent the day after the attacks. Gold rises nonstop for days after the attacks. [DAILY TELEGRAPH, 9/23/2001]

Pull your head out of your ass, stop watching television, and maybe read a book without pictures before you choose to discuss things you know nothing about.  It is your blind faith in a system that is doomed by the implications of the peak of world per capita energy expenditure in 1978.  Those are resource wars going on in the Middle East.  If you think otherwise, then you are not thinking.

Osama had to die to give Obama a glimmer of hope to win a 1 billion dollar re-election bid. The timing is nearly perfect and all too convienent if you ask me. Not that anyone did. Then again, how many people kill some one, blow their brains out and make a fuck of a mess, then decide to carry or drag that body to a helicopter, and then give it a burial at sea so no one can verify it was really Osama? The whole shitting mess doesn't add up to me.

Want a hypothesis?

Maybe the "compound" was a retirement/nursing home/prison.  The guest of dishonor died (of natural causes or by intent) and it was decided to make him usefull for once more.  The so called op was just smoke and mirrors.  The body was probably too emaciated for show and tell.

Perhaps... or perhaps Osama's been dead... long dead... and the US found his body double who kept the myth alive that Osama was still alive, and took him out. Then went... well, let's dispose of the body at sea so no one will know what we have really done. Besides, this will be great PR for my re-election bid. Obama kills Osama! America, F*ck yeah!

The Osama mission and "hiding evidence at sea" is just about as bogus as the obviously fake birth certificate just released.

In fact, one wonders if this fraud was perpetrated in an attempt to get people to forget or ignore the fact that the president obviously just committed criminal fraud and teason by releasing faked documentation.

We also ought to find out who it was who forgot to "flatten" the PDF document (to merge all layers into one layer)... or alternatively, who copied and released the wrong (unflattened) PDF file.  Whoever that was is probably who is now at the bottom of the ocean... not Osama.
