minus the millions in the streets protesting.

There would only have to be about 9M Americans on the streets for a comparable level of protest.

If someone called two friends, and those two friends in turn each called 4.5 million of their friends, AND neither American Idol nor DancingWTS was on TV -- it could happen.

Agreed!  Thank you, ColonelCooper, for that comment and for contributing here.

It would be inappropriate to complain about a site that is free, and still by far the best thing on the internet, but the quality of discourse and knowledge being shared in the comments section here has taken a marked turn for the worse as time has gone on.  Many great minds and souls remain, but it is much more difficult to see them through all the noise (i.e., the dumbasses and trolls speaking).

Here's a quick tip for each of the groups of people currently polluting this site with their garbage:

  • If you are a dumbass, but are here because you are genuinely trying to understand your world better: just shut the fuck up.  Your comments are adding nothing.  Perhaps one day you will put on your big-boy/big-girl pants and have something to say.
  • If you are a troll/disinfo agent and are here because you want a good performance review from Cass Sunstein or whomever: either renounce what you are doing or take one for the team and commit seppuku.  I prefer that you choose the former, as I appreciate the humanity in you (I know that my brother/sister is there, despite what you have done).  But whichever you choose, you can still make the world a better place.

That said, Tyler's coverage and writing makes this site consistently great.  And to all of the genuine, intelligent people who Get It and still comment, remember that you are adding value, despite the noise.  Thank you.

 Great comment.

I will say this about the disinfo/obvious trolls: they unwittingly telegraph exactly what issues TPTB don't want us discussing. This of course is defeating for them insofar as some of us will focus even more attention on those verboten issues.

    Again, great comment.

Whoever gets in the way of this revolution is going to look really fucking stupid when all is said and done.  Does Obungo or Mubarek (sp) really think these crowds are going to go away if they make half-assed concessions and empty promises?  THESE FUCKING PEOPLE ARE HUNGRY and know about the scam of "capitalism" that has been perpetrated on them...and they are not too happy about it i'd venture to say!

"Capitalism" is the 500+ year old system, from Columbus to today, by which wealth has been extracted and accumulated - as CAPITAL (see how that works) - by White 'Civilization' (ha!).

You know - the one in which we all live.

The one that destroyed the biosphere and eradicated dozens of civilizations.  Capitalism has, in 500 years, given us lots and lots of landfills for our sneakers with lights.

And that's about all.

And denying the dominance of Capital to our modern economic system betrays an ignorance of that which you're writing.

The next "elected" will only be an (unelected) interim government. This gov't will be unbelievably unpopular, will fail to carry any of their core issues through, and in record time, the populace will lose all faith in it, due to what appears to be a staggering display of incompetence and infighting.

This will be followed by a violent revolution by a minority, which will take power through raw display of force. Muslim Brotherhood, anyone?

At least, if the playbook of Russia 1917 is followed.

Seems to me that when more and more people are accumulating more and more capital and the expense of a global labor force.

If we don't have private ownership anymore, why do we have so much private ownership of capital?

And don't say "too much government", because "government" was put there by the Capitalists - whether in 18th century Britain, run by slave-merchants, or today.

That's what Capitalism means.  Capital dominates everything.

All civilizations have govenments, they weren't "put there by capitaslism", there was a time when capitasim worked, after WW2 until the 70's it was going good, for the countries who had it anyway. Capitalist governments are supposed to regulate business, but people got stupid and corrupt so big business seized power and deregulated itself. Now they're trying to take over the world so they can feed off the whole planet forever and enslave us all.

Yes, that's what I was taught in the US public school system also.

Only later as an adult did I have to unlearn the "new progressive ideas" brought to US academia from Germany in the early 1900s. New progressive socialist ideas, unhinging Americans from their founding principles, including "capitalism"(aka free enterprise).

If you are a US citizen, I urge you to look into it. If you are NOT a US citizen, then you're right where you're suppose to be.

Free Enterprise is a myth.  Columbus and Cortes was funded by the Crown.  ean-Baptiste Colbert ran France's Empire.  The East India Company ruled the world by proxy for England.  Corporations and Trading Companies use national militaries to pillage the earth.

Your belief in them is quaint, but utterly unhistorical.

Free Enterprise is a myth.

US citizens have troubles factoring facts that go against their core beliefs.

Taking over land from the Indians, land handed out to US citizens ancestors by the US government is frequently associated by US citizens to free enterprise.

This guy who said he had to unlearn supposedly imported beliefs would have it hard to back up  his claim.

All he is able to do is to call for a congregation of deniers. If you wish to deny how things happened to construe, that is the place to ring.

They do not want to give the crowd what they want, which is overthrow of entire regime and free elections.  This will lead to democracy (a very chaotic one at that, this is Egypt after all), and the majority want to change relations with Israel.  The majority hate the secret police, the corrupt civil servants, but these people will try and create civil war if they lose their jobs and sources of income.

So, Mubarak creates anger, causes rioting, probably goes into hiding, Suleiman wants to declare emergency, seize power, arrest Muslim Brotherhood etc etc.  It's a messy situation, can't decide if Suleiman is an agent of Israel, or rather just wants to be seen as being in total control and a man of steel.  Make no mistake, this guy has been in power for a while, Mubarak was merely a puppet, and there is no way Suleiman wants to give up.

These chumps are in the bin already.  Route around the damage.

Oh and over the weekend blockade the security forces' armories and motor pools.  Don't forget that part!  Maybe put 50,000 people or so around intelligence HQ just to keep things un-chaotic.

As long as the army kind of drives around looking important but doing nothing, it's game set and match.
