There would only have to be about 9M Americans on the streets for a comparable level of protest.
If someone called two friends, and those two friends in turn each called 4.5 million of their friends, AND neither American Idol nor DancingWTS was on TV -- it could happen.
Come to think of it, I've never seen him and Red Neck Republicant in the same room before.
Hate to give RnR credit for anything, but he's way more intelligent than William. I don't think RnR could even pretend to be that bad of a troll.
and you're still mose's poodle
And somewhere there is a goat's ball sack that misses your mouth.
Sucks having Mosley's "bitch" kick your ass day after day after day doesn't it?
Not much of a statement on your "wit" is it?
Awww...you miss his mouth. That's sweet.
That may be but you hit the mark! ++++
Finish off your goat already?
I think we got yours. ...Poodle boy
Be careful. Goats can do fly out of the tree monkey hammer attacks.

All Greek guys love goats.
Heph...., dude, you have got to send this link to Jesse Ventura
Tree-climbing goats are pretty cool.
Plus you managed to bring the conversation back around to Northern Africa. Bravo! ;)
Stop begging. It's unbecoming.
Agreed! Thank you, ColonelCooper, for that comment and for contributing here.
It would be inappropriate to complain about a site that is free, and still by far the best thing on the internet, but the quality of discourse and knowledge being shared in the comments section here has taken a marked turn for the worse as time has gone on. Many great minds and souls remain, but it is much more difficult to see them through all the noise (i.e., the dumbasses and trolls speaking).
Here's a quick tip for each of the groups of people currently polluting this site with their garbage:
That said, Tyler's coverage and writing makes this site consistently great. And to all of the genuine, intelligent people who Get It and still comment, remember that you are adding value, despite the noise. Thank you.
Great comment.
I will say this about the disinfo/obvious trolls: they unwittingly telegraph exactly what issues TPTB don't want us discussing. This of course is defeating for them insofar as some of us will focus even more attention on those verboten issues.
Again, great comment.
Just trying to get into Mubarak's head. 82 yrs old rumors of being terminally ill.. out of touch with reality and set in his ways..(my mom is 89 it is hard to get her to do anything outside of routine)
Maybe he feels like he has nothing to lose and is disillusioned in thinking that he is preserving his so called "legacy"
Then you'd think the military would put a stop to this.
Moobarack won't tell'em where he hid the Gold...
Sociopaths...
"Denile"
It is'nt just a river in Egypt!
Gawd, I hope they don't find over 3000 pairs of shoes like they did when they stormed the Marcos Presidential Palace.

I actually had lunch there once. That was in '77 before they redecorated the dining room. Imelda was a terrific hostess. No fishheads and rice that day. We had prawns. I don't remember her shoes.
After we get done burning down the palace lets all meet up at Domino's for a pizza party!
the saudi's are scared shitless.

Why?
LISTEN UP YOU DUMB FUCKS.
GOOD PEOPLE ARE NOT DANGEROUS.
BACK THE FUCK DOWN!!!
Before some grandma beats you with her purse.

Maybe but they hold so many cards, apparently Abdullah isn't scared of Obama:

Should be there just after dinner time.
Blood: it's what's for dinner.
They have a beef, and that's what's for dinner.
Pork. It's the other white meat.
......Oh wait...maybe not.
How culturally insensitivie and politically incorrect -- and just when I suspected you of bein' a closet Progressive! :>D
Disinformation is, for you my dear, a terrible addiction.
Tell me, are you the (fat) agent that locked up Maher Arar?
So do you think he would be stupid enough to actually be there when the crowd shows up?
Yeah, he is. Clearly he can't grasp what is going on.
Or, he just wants to get his freak on! How come he hasn't put on his old military uniform? It's kinda hard to know just who the bad guys are without the military uniform and a funny hat!
So vice president gets to bill 1 hour of presidential service. That ought to be worth about 2 million 600 thousand bucks at the current salarly level.
Well, if he throw's Moobi's head into the crowd he'll get a Nobel...think of his polling numbers then ;-)
He's saying he'll only transfer some powers to the vice president. My guess is the power to fight angry mobs.
Ahhh...palace intrigue, ya gotta love it.
Nice shot!
This is not going to end well.
It might do, it's unlikely in my view that Mubarak will step down ove these protests. When he gets things together again he may stop being the wests puppet now that they've betrayed him so viciously. He might even kick the IMF out of Egypt if we're lucky.
Take it easy Benny; a quick (money) printing will fix everything.
VP - just go home, act like nothing has happened - r u kidding
Hello team zerohedge! I am very much impressed with your speedy ability to grasp the situation there, as well as with your resourcefulness. Keep that up.
mubarak's speech was timed to certify that the dow would finish green! oh well!
His VP is now trying to tell some more rubbish to delay what he does not get. I have been through this, there is no way to stop the people now with these lies from the totalitarian regime. No one wants anyone of these old hypocrites. He wants people to disperse, blames satellite TV. Total idiot. Sounds like our sick aged communist leaders who tried to cling to power. Threatening with armed forces.
He will see these people tonight in presidential palace.
Is it possible to technically tell the difference between a tape vs live broadcast (on the real possibility that Dear Leader is already in London) when the resignation speech is made?
I am starting to dig in this Murmank dude.
He knows his history, that the Americans can turn on you at any moment.
He is standing down the Americans. Americaa and Isreal are both in the back rooms wondering the next move as this is not going to as planned.
Murmank (1)
US (0)
We an increased uS military presence as of late in the middle east, I imagine the US is going "ALL IN" on this one.
Obama will address the nation saying we had to free those people from their tryant.
This will be Obama's war. Damn fucking peace monger Prize my ass.
Tiananmen Square redux...by several orders of magnitude.
agreed 4 i's. Cunt State.
He is obviously a prophet! " I will die on Egyptian soil" What a joke ,the PM told the rioters to go home and hold hands and not to listen to TV. How far removed from reality can one get?
...my sources tell me that, curiously, a container load of dirt is now in transit to London....
Shipped to Carfax Abby?
Supposedly, Drudge says Mubi NOT stepping down. Tells Bilderburgers to fuck off.
Can we finally get this one right.
Heliopolis? sounds like where TheBernak should be from.
The City of the Sun ?
It's Greek to me...
nice
..more like necropolis....
I'm thinking Helion Prime. With the Necromongers arriving in C-130s and Gulfstream IVs. We just need a Riddick.
This all just seems so goddamn absurd.
You all know for a fact that the U.S. and it's shadow foreign policy arm, the CIA/NSA are neck-deep in this shit.
What I don't think Obungo and the CIA fail to realize though is that the vast majority of pissed off Egyptians DO NOT want Americanization of their nation....and they certainly do not want any U.S. puppet running or ruining their nation anymore....
Whoever gets in the way of this revolution is going to look really fucking stupid when all is said and done. Does Obungo or Mubarek (sp) really think these crowds are going to go away if they make half-assed concessions and empty promises? THESE FUCKING PEOPLE ARE HUNGRY and know about the scam of "capitalism" that has been perpetrated on them...and they are not too happy about it i'd venture to say!
+1 for ditching your shitty puppet dictator.
-1 for him getting replaced by the CIA puppeteer who had his hand up the puppet's, well, control orifice.
Get rid of the quotes, and it's all good.
The needs of Capital have created this situation.
The needs of fiat have created this situation. Capitalism, without quotes, is predominantly untested in the modern world.
"Capitalism" is the 500+ year old system, from Columbus to today, by which wealth has been extracted and accumulated - as CAPITAL (see how that works) - by White 'Civilization' (ha!).
You know - the one in which we all live.
The one that destroyed the biosphere and eradicated dozens of civilizations. Capitalism has, in 500 years, given us lots and lots of landfills for our sneakers with lights.
And that's about all.
And denying the dominance of Capital to our modern economic system betrays an ignorance of that which you're writing.
Yeah granted we've wiped out dozens of civilizations, but without us there'd be no icecream and stuff... a wide variety of lettuce to choose from.. things like that.
not to mention 16 varieties of strawberry jam, Colgate, dish soap etc. etc. ad infinitum so when I go out (shudder) I get to spend 278% MORE TIME to find a basic commodity I need and walk out talking to myself.....
Hah.... it's called Cognitive Dissonance, and I've met it's mother...
http://aadivaahan.wordpress.com/2010/12/20/i-met-the-mother-of-cognitive-dissonance/
ORI
I think you mean belays, but whatever I hear your point.
Certainly a benevolent dictator could more efficiently direct societies labor toward ... (insert noble goal here.)
As our currently flawed system goes, I don't so much blame the medium for the message. Those lighted sneakers were the holy grail to some little tyke, who am I to point out the frivolousness of it?
The problem with capitalism is capitalists.
Me
The next "elected" will only be an (unelected) interim government. This gov't will be unbelievably unpopular, will fail to carry any of their core issues through, and in record time, the populace will lose all faith in it, due to what appears to be a staggering display of incompetence and infighting.
This will be followed by a violent revolution by a minority, which will take power through raw display of force. Muslim Brotherhood, anyone?
At least, if the playbook of Russia 1917 is followed.
[...PEOPLE ARE HUNGRY and know about the scam of "capitalism" that has been perpetrated on them...]---Shock and Aweful
So, you think the Egyptians were suffering too much "capitalism" under Mubarak, eh?
Jeez, we don't even enjoy capitalism in the US anymore.
Seems to me that when more and more people are accumulating more and more capital and the expense of a global labor force.
If we don't have private ownership anymore, why do we have so much private ownership of capital?
And don't say "too much government", because "government" was put there by the Capitalists - whether in 18th century Britain, run by slave-merchants, or today.
That's what Capitalism means. Capital dominates everything.
All civilizations have govenments, they weren't "put there by capitaslism", there was a time when capitasim worked, after WW2 until the 70's it was going good, for the countries who had it anyway. Capitalist governments are supposed to regulate business, but people got stupid and corrupt so big business seized power and deregulated itself. Now they're trying to take over the world so they can feed off the whole planet forever and enslave us all.
Yes, it went off track a little.
[That's what Capitalism means. Capital dominates everything.]---downwiththebanks
Yes, that's what I was taught in the US public school system also.
Only later as an adult did I have to unlearn the "new progressive ideas" brought to US academia from Germany in the early 1900s. New progressive socialist ideas, unhinging Americans from their founding principles, including "capitalism"(aka free enterprise).
If you are a US citizen, I urge you to look into it. If you are NOT a US citizen, then you're right where you're suppose to be.
Free Enterprise is a myth. Columbus and Cortes was funded by the Crown. ean-Baptiste Colbert ran France's Empire. The East India Company ruled the world by proxy for England. Corporations and Trading Companies use national militaries to pillage the earth.
Your belief in them is quaint, but utterly unhistorical.
US citizens have troubles factoring facts that go against their core beliefs.
Taking over land from the Indians, land handed out to US citizens ancestors by the US government is frequently associated by US citizens to free enterprise.
This guy who said he had to unlearn supposedly imported beliefs would have it hard to back up his claim.
All he is able to do is to call for a congregation of deniers. If you wish to deny how things happened to construe, that is the place to ring.
Radio Shack? Domino's Pizza? Guess? Alef Bookstore?
Quick, advertise your brand on google earth before the media starts showing maps like this.
BiCHiN, Beth. 2 bad Gamel's gonna smoke em w/ camelz.
but i wld prefer they knockknock and nobody's there; they smoke Gamel's camels and get bread in bed.
This is a test of the people's will. Not just the Egyptians but any potential revolutionaries. This will become more common place and the PE want to see just what they can get the plebes to "accept".
CIA nailed it...not, Stratfort too...not
They're playing mind-games. They've got a direct line to Suleiman, and they know what's going on.
They're fucking with the people to demoralize them. It's the last arrow in their quiver.
So. They are finally moving out of the damn Square and targetting areas which are key to the regime, or at least are important symbols of the regime's power.
Umm... they did this in Cairo 3 days ago.
Furthermore, the strikes and protests not being covered by the media in working class cities like Alexandria, Suez, and Port Said have been in the streets for 17 days now.
The uprising in Tunisia was underway for many days before the MSM acknowledged it.
lol...dont remember a moment similar to this, maybe Romania...I hope they do a Musolinni on him...setting DVR now
Must not have been born during the Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos march on the Presidential Palace.
true, you got me...too young then, also never had cable.
Now that was a true revolution. When you find all those shoes and open a museum dedicated to the all those shoes, then you know you've overthrown a regime.

Nothings really changed in the Phillipines, that's why I don't have much hope for change in Egypt.
If the Army is smart, they'll drive their tanks through Mubarak's front gate. -- It's that or massacre their own people.
The army is smart.
Much smarter than america's army will be.
Yeah, I'm not so sure the 40% or so (IIRC) foreign nationals in our armed forces will care too much about where they point their weapons.
working as intended. . . and don't forget the mercenary armies, all conveniently re-branded for deception, and coming to a neighbourhood near you. . . soon.
40% Where did you get that number from?
From my faulty memory -- I read it somewhere but it doesn't look correct:
About 8,000 permanent immigrants with green cards join the armed forces annually, the Pentagon reports, and about 29,000 foreign-born people currently serving are not American citizens.
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/15/us/15immig.html
A lot of those are Hmong, salt of the earth, and so proud to defend this country. Wait til they find out they've been sold a bill of goods.
40% Where did you get that number from?
Mexico mostly....
Heheh
The army knows who butters their bread.
I am hoping that the future will bring these revelutions to PAY PER VIEW.
Not only because the MSM coverage is poor, but if it was PAY PER VIEW, I imagine they would go balls to the wall with the coverage.
It be better than the Faces of Death series.
There is no limit where you can take PAY PER VIEW events.
The people should prepare for the storming of the palace by watching the youtube tapes of the crowds at the opening of Walmarts on black Friday.
LOL +100 Brilliant!!
I think we should all give Wal Mart a telephone call and
claim we seen something, really suspicious.
Then start name off the usual suspects and their fincial/ponza scheme crimes one by one and each politican.
After a few hundred calls from us ZH's to Walmart, and fucking maybe they will think twice before airing their fear mongering DHS videos over moniters at each check out lane.
This is a Dept Of Homeland Security Program. Unbelievable!
100 to 1 Hosni abruptly went on 'holiday' prior to the broadcasting of his taped speech
John Bradley on Al Jazeera english - must hear interview covering haterd for Mubarak, how this could become one of the most violent protests in history and how it should spread thru middle east in coming weeks. I'll send to ZH when posted.
Is it possible to over-estimate a man that looted his country for 30 years and 70 billion?
My money is on the "Hose". It'll take real guts to bring this tiger down!
Hosni is hosed.
And then he shows up in the power garb of the west. Suit and tie.
Perhaps there was another clothing video as well.
How can you 'un-anger' the Saudis (which wear their garb) with a suit and tie?
Unconfirmed reports:
Mubarak left Egypt: presidential sourcesHopefully the protesters know enough to look for feet sticking out from beneath the curtains at the presidential palace.
That's what Claudius did when Caligula was overthrown.
Looks like were gonna have to update the Internatonal Terrorist Watch list.
Speaking of, any you fools, catch any new developments on Bin Landen's cooridinates?
It ain't looking llike he is in Egypt>
They do not want to give the crowd what they want, which is overthrow of entire regime and free elections. This will lead to democracy (a very chaotic one at that, this is Egypt after all), and the majority want to change relations with Israel. The majority hate the secret police, the corrupt civil servants, but these people will try and create civil war if they lose their jobs and sources of income.
So, Mubarak creates anger, causes rioting, probably goes into hiding, Suleiman wants to declare emergency, seize power, arrest Muslim Brotherhood etc etc. It's a messy situation, can't decide if Suleiman is an agent of Israel, or rather just wants to be seen as being in total control and a man of steel. Make no mistake, this guy has been in power for a while, Mubarak was merely a puppet, and there is no way Suleiman wants to give up.
Suleiman wants to declare emergency
They are already under "emergency" and havee been for the past thirty years.
Suleiman will have to put the country under "double secret emergency".
Not to mention, the 'majority' has become a well-oiled unit REVOLUTION better able to run the government than the one currently screwing the pooch.
can't decide if Suleiman is an agent of Israel, ?!?
Don't choke on the hook.
Fishes! We got another one.
+++++++++++++++++++++
Let me ask you this. Why is the Hosni regime participating in the blockade of GaZa?
Does everyone here believe that this will be a bloodless coup?
We can pray.
I see the potential for civil war.
The guy potentially has just made the biggest mistake of his life!

I thought he already had a mortgage.

+7 years with an itch and 23 left on the front loaded BAC mortgage.
Good one! ;)
So do I. I just pray for non-violence.
But there will be a problems with eating and loving (i.e. eat, pray, love)
If only they had an MBA president!
Looks like the overnight US futures short squeezers are having a night off
He wore a black tie, usually reserved for mourning. Maybe he heard the rumours about yhe princes death.
I luv the smell of napalm in the mornin!
Keehuck
Just appoint new youthful Ministers, get briefcases with laptops, and go to all the government offices on Sunday morning.
These chumps are in the bin already. Route around the damage.
Oh and over the weekend blockade the security forces' armories and motor pools. Don't forget that part! Maybe put 50,000 people or so around intelligence HQ just to keep things un-chaotic.
As long as the army kind of drives around looking important but doing nothing, it's game set and match.
I'm looking at the various political parties in Egypt. Apparently, some parties are banned.

That comes later. Provisional council now. As in tonight, to be announced at prayer 'n' protest tomorrow.
A couple dozen lawyers and bank managers would suffice to run the show, answer the phones and sign military paychecks.
I don't know about the numbers, but they're already there in addition to the Parliament.
Crap I got whipsawed on my brents
SHEET
Yes it will become violent....the military is the key...they are US trained and supplied....they have our ear...and we theirs....BUT...it is their call.....they hold ALL the cards right now....I think if they take over it will be good for Egypt....if they defend Murbarak....it will destroy Egypt....and spread to the rest of the middle east....and today is the day they have to decide...you can´t just kill a few and change your mind...you lose all cred then.....the next few hours will change the world...
Hopefully they have the full lay of the land and will escort Dear Leader to the airport.
They already deliberately ran over a protestor, probably killed him, a few days ago. I doubt the people are in favour of the military right now.
The second the media blackout begins, we will know it is on.
+1
Except that those ratings ...
In the end, I doubt this will result in something that is a net benefit to Egyptians. Third world leaders who try to run their nation's resources to the benefit of anything other than the west tend to have short lifespans.
You're probably right. Especially since slack-jawed devotion to global Capital seems to be working pretty well, right?
It's on like Donkey Kong!
