Unbelievable. I wonder what's going to happen now. The Egyptian people must realize by now that simply protesting in Tahrir square isn't going to accomplish what they want...

Whatever happened to the military saying "the protestors' demands will be met?"

The bad news is, sportsfans, that Egypt produces 703 million barrels per day of oil, down from 900+ million bpd in 1990 -- with now millions more in population to feed.

After Mubarak is gone, from whatever impetus, Egypt will still produce 703 mbpd, and still be unable to afford food.

This is all a sideshow.

If they directed their anger at the IMF where it belongs then they'd have a chance of reviving their economy, kick out the parasites and start public work projects to relieve unemployment.

But no, they've fallen for the CIA's tired old tricks and are trying to get rid of the only guy who has a chance of taking on the IMF.

Interesting how the sheeple didn't give a rat's ass about Mubarak a month ago.

To them Egypt had a democratic, secular, friendly regime.

That's what the CIA always told you.

Now the same CIA tells you Mubarak is a ruthless dictator who must leave.

And the sheeple follow suit.

Ya well, one can hardly keep track of all of the CIA's client dictators, and their relative levels of ruthlessness.

That said, why do you think the CIA would push Mubarak out? What evidence do you have that this is the CIA's position anyway? Because it is in the news? Is the CIA in control of aljazeera as well? Are the millions of protesters hired thugs or dupes of the CIA?

In all "revolutions", the masses are always manipulated by the power elite to suit their needs.

On the way from Tahrir square to the presidential palace you'll find high rise buildings home to european and american bank branches in Egypt. From those vantage points, the power elite are drooling at the spectacle: the masses have fallen for the bait.  Mubarak and his regime will be exposed as the greatest

evil since the Vatican puppet from Austria tried in vain to establish his thousand year reich.

But those masses are unable to understand that the real source of their misery is not in the puppet dictators, but in those who pay for their political campaigns.

This is the lesson for other world leaders -specially in the developed world- who will also be sacrificed to the mobs while the power elite laugh and dance safely in the comfort of their penthouses

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/feb/10/obama-wrongfooted-mubarak-egypt

The Obama administration was embarrassingly wrongfooted when the Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak confounded expectations by refusing to leave office.

Mubarak's speech came just hours after Barack Obama and the director of the CIA, Leon Panetta, appeared to give credence to the rumours that the Egyptian president was heading for the exit.

Obama has been putting pressure on Mubarak since last week to stand down straight away, but Mubarak, in a televised address tonight, said he would not bow to international pressure, a direct snub to the US president.

It would be ironic that Mubarak should be the one to obliterate the  fascist banker power elite by using his "Samson option", the only one he now has.

These guys are stupid to me.  All he had to do was step down, appoint Suliman as President, then call for new elections 2 months out.  Everyone goes home, then Suliman can round up all the dissenters quietly.  At least that would have given them time to put their choice into office in the next rigged election, and buy them a few more years, possibly decades of power.

Clearly the Speeches by Mubarak and Suleiman and were designed to set the stage for provocation via what are likely to be acts of Agent Provacateur by the Mubark Security Force Thugs masquerading as "protesters" and then provide political cover and pre-text for Massive Violence, led by the head of Torture in Egypt and the US point man on rendition torture, Sulieman.

The protesters need to remain peaceful and increase the size of the protests and recruit the Suez Canal Pilots into the labor strikes.

Let us pray for the people of Egypt and call upon the higher guardians and angels. Should the US backed Suileman make good on his claims of a coup, "dark bats of the night" and "police tools" to terrorize, brutalize and attack the people of Egypt, it will in my opinion spark a massive and global counter reaction and accelerate the power of "the force."

As Obi-Wan Kenobi says to Darth Vader in their final meeting in the physical realm: "You can't win, Darth. If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."

Well. If the CIA/Obama can, they need to be on the phone to powerful army generals right about now and have them stage a coup 'in the name of the people', storm the presidential palace, new constitution, mock up elections right away in the wake of the fake coup and then business as usual.

Surprised they had zero plans in place with influential leaders within the military who may have had aspirations to kick Mubarak out. Would've come in handy right about now.

Hell, if Mubarak really wants to hold power he should order his Generals to storm his own Palace right now, before the people reach it. Do the same as the above, move to a position in the background, round up all the protestors and dole out some medieval justice before declaring himself the surprise winner of the September elections. Would only buy him a few years at best though.

Well if they have lost the ordinary rank and file troops we can declare this an official revolution. The incompetent idiots in Washington and the Egyptian Army have had 2 weeks to deal with this and they have failed to do ANYTHING.

Provide a link though please, or is it on T.V only right now? As this would probably be the most important development we have seen in the last few weeks. Soldiers turning on the regime is a massive deal, in a situation like this it might cause the other troops to hesitate should they be told to fire on the protestors.

Wonder if the Muslim Brotherhood/other extremists have any plans for the next 48hours. Might be the next big opportunity they have to take advantage of general anger.

I would strongly recommend the army also open the gates, to prevent injury to the crowd of civilians.

Also, a note to Egyptian tank commanders:Are your 120mm guns properly sighted in?

I suggest every tank in Cairo fire 2 rounds at the palace....just to be sure.

you know if they USA just sold a few ( read half dozen) GPS targettted cruise missliles to the protesters, it would  prevent all the  sensless and needless death and destructiohn thats about to take place.

hey they could offer to fire em off, and just have the 6 co ords programbed from protestor HQ i hear they have a few dozen ships in the med right now.

also it would get the yanks on side with the new democratic peoples republic of egypt, Inc.

Tonight/their tomorrow is going to be crazy.  As you said and I agree, they are going to march on the Palace and I don't see the army stopping them.  Sooner or later someone is going to give the army the nudge and say push him out and we are still okay allies or don't and everything goes away (funding and all).

All they need to do is shut off the sewer support to that square and block off access to bathrooms.  Those people will disperse within a day or so.

Some jokes translated from the streets in Egypt:

The interior minister asked Mubarak to write a farewell letter to the people of Egypt, Mubarak replied: why where are they leaving...

Two drugged men chatting in the street, the first said so what if we win and the government resigned what will happen next , the other man answered we will play with Tunisia in the FINAL.

The Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak Burned himself in front of the presidential palace requesting to change the Egyptian people.

The nominees are: Mubarak Egypt, Ghaddafi Libya, Abdullah Saleh Yemen, vote for your best president and win a trip with him to Saudi Arabia.

If Egypt can do 3 million, we should be able to do 9 million.

9 million man RIDE to DC on July 4th.

We dont care how you get there, just meet up with the RIDE along the route somewhere leaving from Boulder CO.

Most of use will be on Bikes , but we need drivers to for support and legistics.

We also need everyone to contact that friend they had in college that is now in the military, especially AirForce , and convinced them to meet up with us in DC . Weather its a tank or a plane, we could use the support.

Cya in DC and ride safe!
