Raj Guilty, Faces 15.5-19.5 Years In Jail

Tyler Durden's picture

Justice, this time, is served. Raj found guilty on all charges. Next up: up to 20 years in federal pound me in the ass penitentiary (20 years on each of 9 counts, and 5 years on the remaining 5 so a total of 205 years possible). But that's ok, Raj Raj certainly frontran that verdict and is most likely prepared as necessary.

Here is the official guideline: U.S. SAYS RAJARATNAM FACES 15 1/2 YEAR TO 19 1/2 YEAR-TERM.

From James Petras: “Among Bernard Madoff's principal victims were his closest Jewish friends and colleagues, people who shared Seder meals and frequented the same upscale temples in Long Island and Palm Beach."

Extremely high profile case, perpetrator and victims the same ethnic category: not a tough call.

Ethnic classification and race are almost synonymous with political connection.  To walk around the locked gate of justice one needs the correct category: and that leads to the connections that unlock the door.

Why did Clinton pardon Marc Rich – criminal, racketeer, spy – whose tentacles of vast international holdings, like Soros’, “made him a state unto himself, albeit one without borders reaching into the Russian government, the US government, and a lot of governments in between”?

Justin Raimondo called it in 2001: “According to Joe Conason ( who took Sidney Blumenthal's place as Clinton's journalistic champion), it wasn't for the love of money, but for the love of Israel: Clinton gave in to pressure from Ehud Barak, Shimon Peres, and Shabtai Shavit the former chief of the Mossad intelligence service, not to mention the Speaker of the Israeli Knesset and a long list of Israeli dignitaries. A series of emails between various members of Rich's legal team, published in Salon, details the concerted campaign to mobilize Israeli support, while Zev Chafets, writing in the New York Daily News, snorts in disgust at the well-organized pressure on behalf of the Rich pardon from Israel's friends in the US, including Abraham Foxman, the head of the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai B'rith, and Eli Wiesel – who now denies it. Conason writes that ‘it is almost certain that those entreaties swayed him more than the largesse of Rich's ex-wife Denise, who donated more than $1 million to Democrats over the last decade.’” …

Continues Raimondo, “the Rich Foundation, set up by Marc Rich to launder his ill-gotten fortune, is the Israeli government. Avner Azulay, executive director of the Rich Foundation, is a former Mossad agent, according to a very interesting article in the San Jose Mercury News. So are the bodyguards who, since 1983, have been protecting their boss from being jailed on charges of racketeering, fraud, etc. The piece cites Vincent Cannistraro, a former spook and a Middle East expert, who said the Mossad used Rich as a ‘conduit for financial transfers’ and to pass messages to Iran when necessary... cooperating with Israeli intelligence since the early 1980s." …

Concluded Raimondo: “The real villains are the individuals involved, both representative of the Zeitgeist in two of its aspects. Just as Clinton embodied the bread-and-media-circuses vulgarity of a paganized and decadent political culture, so the crook he pardoned is the exemplar of a new elite now rising on a world scale... the Money Power... a law unto itself. It is the system of global state capitalism, culminating in the creation of a world run by giant corporate cartels acting by and through national governments and, increasingly, international institutions, such as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and all the various transnational institutions that have grown up over the years, including NATO, the EU, the UN, and all the other acronymic enemies of national sovereignty. This is the murky milieu in which the New Man evolves and flourishes: the dank and stagnant waters of the New World Order.

Raj was just a common billionaire.  Not the protected class on Wall St and DC.

The wiretapping angle will clean things up a bit.  Better donate to DC and become a registered DEM and don't give money to R's or you will be next, like Steve Cohen.

Raj should go on the show the biggest loser and compete from jail.   Jail might be better than going on weight watchers.  Of course the food at club Fed is probably better than most American's enjoy.

First Angelo, now Raj.  This should serve as a warning to all Gentiles who would dare to commit financial crimes.  The government is permitted to prosecute you.

If Raj is planning on cooperating with federal prosecutors, he can expect a 5K1 downward departure in his sentence. This is given when a defendant contributes substantial assistance to the government. This scenario is highly likely due to the fact that most white collar perps fold like a cheap suit when looking at significant time. The government must file a 5K1 motion with the sentencing judge and it is usually granted. Look for Raj to give up everyone including his friends.

If Raj's attorney is worth his salt, he will then argue for a sentence of less than 10 years which will allow Raj to spend his time in one of the BOP's minimum security "camps", most likely FCI Otisville satellite. Otisville camp is outside the main facility and he will be expected to work at a job which supports the Medium facility. His pay will be 12 cents an hour. There is virtually no violence or "ass pounding" sexual behavior at a camp. There are no cells or bars, just dormitory housing. Classes are offered and Otisville has an extensive library as well as better exercise facilities than most gyms. His attorney will also argue that due to alcohol abuse or drugs, Raj should be placed in the RDAP program, which will allow him to knock off up to one year of his sentence. With RDAP and good time he could be out in 7.5 years.

He's not a member of the tribe, so he gets punished.

Also, I find these glib jokes about prison rape troubling.  The prison system in this country is barbaric, and making jokes about somebody getting raped in prison is an indication of a pygmy mind.

What's heinous crime is this man guilty of?

He traded based on information that not everyone else in the universe has.

i.e. he acted the same as any other trader.

He also helped signal this information to the market before it was officially released. i.e. he helped speed the market to equillibrium by distributing price information more efficiently than it would have been if he had done nothing.

This man helped markets be more free.

I challenge you to name a single victim whose body or property was violated. Did he "hurt" the value of your stock? People do not own the value of their property, they only own the property itself. The exchange valuation of your property exists in other people's minds, and belongs to them, not you.

This is yet another victimless "crime".

It was obvious from the very beginning that the Money Manipulators felt they needed someone they were going to discover and punish. While the Bernankes, the Dimons and the Blankfiens are running from their accusers, it’s important to have some underling you can toss to the mob.

To say that justice has been done is a bit thin.  It’s like saying in the Brink’s robbery, We broke the case because we found the woman who was the lookout.

The latter want large government - to obtain special legal privileges and bailouts.

The former want small government - to avoid paying for the above.

I don't understand why you lumped the two groups together.
