Reactionary Violence: Man Drives Car Into Fukushima Daini Nuclear Plant, Arrested, Wanted To Stand Out
And so we move on to the long overdue reaction of pent up popular anger by the general public, which may have just hit its tipping point of being constantly lied to and put in harm's way to protect the status quo.
- A 25-year-old man arrested for driving into Fukushima Daini nuclear plant, smashing the gate. Says he wanted to "stand out": RTRS
Comparisons to a self-immolating fruit vendor in Tunisia need not apply.

It was only a stunt for next season's Japanese Jackass.

Or Japan's version of WIPEOUT
Please tell me that you do know that Wipeout is a rip-off of the japanese series “Takeshi’s Castle”... Oh the irony...
It was Doc, looking to fuel up his Mr. Fusion unit on the DeLorean.
But he miscalculated and came back too far in time. We haven't perfected fusion yet.

well, then, they should have considered how the reactors appeared a line of stakes driven along the coast when looked at from above
Maybe he wanted to plug the green glow.
Very noble of him.
But...but...but, the officials said,"it's only a tiny leak."
Everyone got it wrong, he was just looking to take independed radiation readings. Whats wrong with that? It's not like he will blow up the reactors :D
I want to know how many geisha's was he promised in the afterlife?
sad actually
Yeah. Not to make light but, he's one of the lucky ones. There's millions of people who will remain quiet and die a slow painful death from radiation poisoning.
Who knows what will happen to the ocean and the rest of the planet, not to mention just that man who had enough and had to do anything he could about it.
He definitely stood out and I'm thankful for his act and gesture to us here. Shit isn't good there at all, and they're cutting it off at the head before the Nikkei collapses. As advice god says,
"Libyans being slaughtered? TOO BUSY HELPING MILLIONAIRES WIN GOLD STATUETTES!"
well, he'll stand out for sure, now.. indigo baby!
And so he will stand out. Now he will glow in the dark.
GLOBAL INSURRECTION MOTHER FUCKERS.
Shit's on when 20-somethings are cool with glowing in the dark to make a statement..
THIS IS IT CHUMBAWUMBA!
Got my tin foil hat with "I fucking told you so wankers" emblazoned across the front.
The sheepeople are moving away from the pen and looking at the open field....

Fukushima Lobotomy. The guy has probably lost his family, career, friends, and any semblance of normalsy. I feel for for him! I suspect this is not going to end any time soon.
Right. Normally, he would be a cocksucking slave working five days a week.
Don't worry about him : he just discovered freedom.
Expect to see more and more freedom fighters, because soon, inflation will be a DIMON.
Demon?
Don't get me wrong : I was telling you that JPM was a (fat) stinky witch.

Just so everyone knows:
The government has said Iodine 131 has been found in US food supplies. BUT! BUT! There is no need to become alarmed because that 1 isotope is the only one and it's half life is short. Also, Xenon, but that is the ONLY other one and it is also harmless.
Do not become alarmed, nothing to see here.
What we NEED to be ALARMED about is that GOP cuts will kill 70,000 children
http://thecable.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2011/03/31/shah_gop_budget_would_kill_70000_children
So the FED printing money, taking the whole worlds savings and flushing them down the toilet, and causing food prices to skyrocket worldwide because of inflation will save lives in the long run? Communism doesn't work. It sounds good on the chalkboard, but in the end, everyone ends up destitute and miserable. I really don't understand how people think taking money from the productive at the point of a gun to subsidize the unproductive makes any sense. I would love to "give" to charity to save children, but it's getting to the point that because of the economy, taxes and inflation, I'm going to be worried about my family eating. But there's plenty of Money in amerika right? Just need to confiscate it, right? And it's just tragic that the GOP (which are a bunch of slimey globalists also), would consider cutting a tiny percentage of the massive budget deficit of a completely bankrupt nation? And of course it is impossible for any scumbag liberal bureaucrat to lose his or her job from a budget cut, so we'll just make sure the first cuts are food for kids? Bob, either you are a useful idiot, or give Karl and Friedrich my best regards when you get to hell.
What the fuck are you talking about?
Have you had a bit to drink tonight?
He's probably on our side - just really drunk.

Well, I guess that he must have died from radiation exposure, surely? No? Sacre Bleu!
I understand the Japanese people are patient, loyal folks but after having TEPCO rendering something like 20% of thier land mass uninhabitable you would think they would be rioting by now.
I think the US government should ask what the GOJ is putting in thier drinking water... we should expect that "supplement" in ours soon.
what people protest most? French. What would France be like now if it was happening to them?
What will France be like when it does happen to them? They are rolling too many die at the same time for it not to come up snake eyes.
I think America is soon to be world leader in protests - once they get their fat asses off their Berkerloungers.
Rumor has it, it was one of the Fukishima 50. I hear they are feeding these "heroes" two meals a day of crackers and dry rice. Most of them are sleeping in a room on the floor without any shielding from the radiation.
Homey wouldn't do that for the man, I tell you that.
Half of me wants a mutiny of the power plant workers.
The other half wants the mutiny of everyone else.

Finally! The Japanese are getting pissed off...
Japan - Your goverment and central bank have thrown you all to the wolfs.
oh look futures surging especially dax in the middle of the night to give the mad pheasants more hopium to digest with the stones in their crop
Kamikaze 2011. I do not know where these people find this kind of courage but I am humbled. This really speaks to the anger over a news blackout not only in Japan but in the U.S. where the top story is MTV Teen Mom beatdown that was later proven to be orchestrated for profit.
I will repeat..The only thing that saves this nation from these desperate kinds of acts is the reserve currency and the short allotment of time that permits the government and politicians to cover up problems with temporary paper solutions. All they are doing is punishing the generations of children and grandchildren who will have to strife and suffer through tumultuous times of regional wars over resources because they were too lazy to make attempts to correct the issues out of selfishness
Now I ask all of you who beg for handouts and sell your people to the highest bidder if you are good parents or future great grandparents if you wish for your children to experience a depression never paralleled. They do not deserve this. America was a fine example of the escape from masters and now to have them grow up in a society that perceives this kind of reverse socialism being normal is sickening. The more power and freedom we give for personal safety and financial security the tighter we bind the shackles of those who believe they are entitled by birth.
>in the U.S. where the top story is MTV Teen Mom beatdown that was later proven to be orchestrated for profit.
Inside job...
I'll bet he was just trying to get rid of his American made car.
Perhaps the gas pedal on his G(overment) M(otors) auto got stuck.
I guess he got the gas and brake mixed up, happens all the time..
Was it a Toyota?
It's Korean. A sonata perhaps?
Numerous protesters yesterday were demanding all 55 reactors be turned off, immediately - AND PERMANENTLY!
This will probably be an anti-nuclear protest (rather than just a guy losing it).
"wanted to stand out?"
he was fing tired of the bs.............
UCB Rain Water Sampling Results, University of California, Berkeley, Department of Nuclear Engineering:
Iodine-131 level in rainwater sample taken on the roof of Etcheverry Hall on UC Berkeley campus, March 23, 2011 from 9:06-18:00 PDT
20.1 Becquerel per liter (Bq/L) = 543 Picocuries per liter (pCi/L)
News flash from TEPCO. Safe level now raised to 18,101% so it's all good.
Almost enough to label it 'sparkling'!
IIRC that's a couple times the CPMs of the chernobyl fallout
I thought that passing the law making Berkeley a nuclear free zone would've prevented this. Evidently the law wasn't strict enough. Quick, let's reconvene and make a better law.
Saying you want to stand out in Japan is like admitting insanity.
This is nothing. Just wait a couple of weeks until the Soccer Moms here figure out that there is nothing to feed little Johnny & Janie that is not contaminated with radiation.
Loaded 'em up with Brawndo -- It's what kids crave!
More on the man that crashed the gate....seems he drove around for 10 minutes at a frikkin NUCLEAR FACILITY before arrested. And I"M the clown?
"
he can stand out, just dont stand so near to me
BTW what ever happened to Mrs Watanabe? Man that chick(s) has had a shitty 30 years
Nice !

This is a particularly Japanese trait. Some Japanese literature of many years ago has been devoted to the exposition of such a thing.

A news link would be nice, so's the poor folk on MW can find this. ZH is sort of sita-non-grata with the Lib mods there.

I say, let the man work. Surely he can turn a valve.
At some future point, when the (radioactive) dust settles, someone might write an article detailing why Japan would have built and concentrated so many nuclear facilities in the same place, along the same fault lines, and where the geological record indicates a long and consistent history of violent tsunami activity.
If memory serves me correctly, the period when these facilities were built was during the time of the Lockheed Scandal that led to the downfall of the Tanaka government. In other words, it was when the LDP was at its height and money politics was the rule.
(Shin Kanemaru update: the late former politician and kingmaker was scandalized during his final years when it was found he had stashed $57 million worth of gold under the floor of his living room, money obtained via kickbacks and tributes. Today that gold would be worth about $220 million. I have noted previously that during that period I was given rare access to a major European Private Bank's vault, where a stream of political "secretaries" had been dropping off their own gold for "safekeeping" after news of the Kanemaru arrest came out. Years before that I had had the opportunity to walk the vault at Iron Mountain Depository. While IMD's silver stash would have caused heart palpitations or even multiple orgasms amongst today's silver afficianados---row after row of pallets stacked eight feet high of 5000 oz bars---the gold stash at IMD was about the same as in this Tokyo private bank. Back then, Japanese Politician was a more lucrative vocation than hedge fund manager.)
Good point.
One might also ask why it is that the Japanese are incredibly well prepared to deal with frequent earthquake and tsunami disasters -- every house has an emergency kit by the front door with flashlight, blankets, emergency biscuits, etc; there are signboards everywhere informing where to go and what to do if there is a disaster; there are warehouses with emergency food supplies in major cities; etc -- yet TEPCO, seemingly deliberately, had only one stretcher, one satellite phone and 50 contamination suits for the whole fucking nuclear complex at Fukushima Daiichi! (Which explains why they are sending in only 50 at a time!!). Now we also hear that the workers currently sacrificing their lives are provided with just one 1.5 litre bottle of water a day, a couple of dry biscuits, and one dosimeter per GROUP of workers rather than the one EACH mandated under regulations ... and it took the company a week or so to find an extension cord!
In other words, the average Tokyo citizen was far better prepared for these frequent disasters than a major nuclear facility!! ... notwithstanding that, in their 2010 Annual Report, TEPCO stated: "During the year ending March 31, 2011, the TEPCO group must wrap up [sic] its crisis management efforts and strengthen programs for post-crisis growth and development". LOL!
Something in the venture between GE, Hitachi and Toshiba to plant these incendiary bombs ... er, sorry, build these nuclear power plants ... stinks worse than even Washington, DC.
We should volunteer our prisoners with life sentences and those on death row.
Newly (and apparently anonymously) released video of a different, thermal power plant in Fukushima prefecture being hit by the tsunami.
http://www3.nhk.or.jp/daily/english/01_08.html
I call BULLSHIT on that UCB site. It says:
"For example, in the rain water we collected in 18 hours between March 17 and March 18 we observe an activity of the isotope of I-131 (Iodine-131) of 4.26 Bq/l. At this level, you would need to drink 632 liters of this rain water to obtain the same radiation effects you obtain on a round-trip flight between San Francisco and Washington D.C. Therefore, the increase in radiation levels in the rain water due to the events in Japan remain extremely small."
Except for the fact that ingesting radiated water means the decaying atoms can directly alter the genetic structure of the cells of internal organs, whereby slar daiation only affects the skin
Exactly.
Is there really a difference between 10,000 times and 20,000 times at this point? Just askin....
Groundwater at nuclear plant ‘highly’ radiation-contaminated: TEPCO, Kyodo, April 1, 2011:
More signs of serious radiation contamination in and near the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant were detected Thursday, with the latest data finding groundwater containing radioactive iodine 10,000 times the legal threshold and the concentration of radioactive iodine-131 in nearby seawater rising to the highest level yet.
Radioactive material was confirmed from groundwater for the first time since the March 11 quake and tsunami hit the nuclear power plant on the Pacific coast, knocking out the reactors’ key cooling functions. An official of the plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Co. said, ”We’re aware this is an extremely high figure.”
Hey, it's here too!

Lookit that jump in the last reading....
The dude needed to drive to Dai 1, not 2...so we could see how close he got before croaking at the wheel
so, I hope everything is getting better over there judging by the lack of reactor news at Zerohedge today.
It's made news harder to come by. What's the latest?
Much earlier this AM I saw some claim (Bloomberg, I think, but I wouldn't swear to it) that they had decided to halt watering operations and let nature take its course. That seemed fairly eyebrow raising, but the news re the reactors has withered away. Each day makes getting up to date info more effortful.
It's April Fool's Day already there...so maybe the quiet is a sort of April Fool's joke.
--Groundwater contamination officially added to the list of woes
--TEPCO neglected to equip each worker with a rad counter per regs, got caught, apologized
--Workers 'looking for places to put the water'
--Spraying of resin to stick the particulate in place to be tested today, scrubbed due to rain
--US water barge is docked at plant, but not used yet I don't think
--Small batches of US and French expert advisors to stand at the edge of the evac zone and cheer, or something
--Prevailing winds are blowing the wrong way at the moment, oh well
The whole thing does seem to be bogging down, but I haven't seen anything in the press about 'giving up' although I speculated as much earlier today.
Oh, huh, this just in and in keeping with the actual thread, I guess:

Parcel bomb explodes at Swiss nuke industry office
A parcel bomb has exploded at an office of a nuclear power industry association in Switzerland, injuring 2 employees.
The explosion occurred as staff were opening the parcel at the office in the northern city of Olten on Thursday.
No one has claimed responsibility, but local police suspect the bomb may have been sent by anti-nuclear power activists.
Nuclear power opponents have become active in the country, following the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Japan.
Switzerland has 5 nuclear power plants. After the trouble in Japan, the government announced that it will suspend its plan to renew 3 decrepit plants.
