Ron Paul: "Goldman Sachs Has A Lot Of Influence In Our Treasury And A Lot Of Influence In Our Federal Reserve"

Tyler Durden's picture

"[The Fed] is bigger than the Congress, [it] has more power than the Congress. The Fed Chairman probably is more powerful than our president, and yet we refuse to look at it. The time has come for us to look at the Fed"

He was a lone voice in the wilderness for so many years and even as all he said began to come true, he was still sneered at and marginalised by the media.

When he was the largest monthly money raiser yet Fox refused him a place at the Primary debate, that should have been a wake up call to how in bed the media is with the corporate and political elites that have a stranglehold on American politics and power.

He's probably the last remaining politician in Washington for whom the Constitution is not ""just a piece of paper"

2012 could be a big year for the 3rd party movement... everyone should be fed up to the gills with the Democrats and Republicans at that point... I know I am pretty much there right now... and Ron Paul resonates strongly as the voice in the crowd shouting "The Emperor is Wearing No Clothes".

I just wish that Ronnie would forego his party and just start the campaign as a 3rd party choice. If he had done that in 08 he might have had a better chance.

But I like that slogan. He should hire a model to walk around with an emperors robe and only a bikini underneath to bring home the point. Maybe then people will pay attention.

Very good interview.  Hope the MSM keeps up the heat . . . before wholesale consumer default makes it inescapable (though, of course, the debate could then be hijacked by ignorantly pseudo-populist cries about joe sixpack deadbeats causing everything, similarly to the bs about losers taking liars loans being the fundamental cause of the subprime meltdown.)

As long as the conservative vs. liberal debate continues, Ron Paul doesn't have a chance. The left and right are pitted against each other over trivial social issues so the uber-rich can maintain power. The Democrats, the Republicans, right-wing talk radio, The NY Times, NPR, FOX News, CNBC all protect the status quo. The left and right need to get together and realize the problem is PLUTOCRACY: government of the rich for the rich, (not liberalism, conservatism, fascism, socialism, et al.). And as long as the media/government's primary concern is serving the richest 5%, nothing will change. I'm to the left of Karl Marx but Ron Paul really impresses me. If the left and right stop obsessing on the social issues and unite in support of Paul he might have a chance. Group hug?

Last year Ron Paul, Ralph Nader, and two other 3rd party presidential candidates from across the political spectrum gathered to endorse 4 principles of agreement.

You can read their statement here

In summary -
1. Pull out of Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany, Japan, etc.
2. Restore privacy and civil liberties

Did you know that a 2lb hand held sledge hammer can entirely crush a humans skull in, including breaking the lower jaw and several of the upper vertebrae with just one swing. Just thought I'd put that out there and see how it fits into your sense of humor. :)

Did you know that a single person in a 4000 lb truck with 250 horsepower engine is capable of killing riot police by the dozens. Did you know that if just 5 people throw a liter of gasoline in a bottle with a rag hanging out of it on a heavily armored HumVee the occupants will pass out from heat in as little as 2 minutes.

Did you know that the human rib cage actually funnels knives into the lungs if a person doesn't have the tip too sharp and doesn't maintain too rigid of a grip on it.

Did you want to discuss all the various vulnerabilities of being human or are we done yet?

Minnesota, you know i love you, but books that simply entertain don't cut it for me. Maybe is my insanity and the wish to achieve omniscience * LOLing really hard right now * or maybe is that those kind of books don't go hand-in-hand with my character. Currently, i'm reading about isomorphism on finite field of atomic sentences and potential modular form it can have when isomorphism is bijectional with a set of temporal propositions Tl. Now, that's what i call entertaining. No, there are books which are entertaining, but the problem is that entertainment means different things to different people.

Cheeky... you have got to get out more... and enjoy life... too much 'work' and no 'play' makes Cheeky a dull boy :-)

BTW... you are a real pain in the ass... I thought my IQ was sufficient to easily grasp most concepts... but oh no... not with you... I have to go and look up to see WTF you are talking about... and I was doing just fine with isomorphism, finite field, atomic sentences, and bijectional... but then when I hit modular form my brain blew up...  does Google have some translation program for your language :-)

And finally, imho, if you are striving for omniscience (lol right along with you) you have to have an equal understanding of both the abstract/theoretical concepts, but also the corresponding feelings and real life that give those concepts depth and meaning (and I am not saying that you don't)... but a good entertaining book helps in those dimensions... just sayin'  :-)

CB - Do you read any Rob Rosen? It reads like you have, or would like to:

http://www.panmere.com/?page_id=10

His thoughts on life/bio/AI/math and computational determinism have helped fuel my thoughts and explorations as both a software hacker and economist/armchair biologist. It has helped me make a lot of sense (or slightly some sense) out of this current mess.

Combined with Hume, Nietzsche, Von Mises, Wittgenstein, Nathaniel Brand, and Carl Sagan, it gave me a great mathematical and conceptual metaphysic to work with.

One of these days I'll register an ID for ZH comments, but I like my anonymity even more than you do.

Seems to me people have been looking directly at the Fed since it was created-- See, The Federalist Papers and Marbury v Madison.

Not so sure on the other points, and looking at what is going on makes some sense.

In his day, Reagan, somewhat reluctantly, packed the Fed with his boys so he could reverse Volcker's relatively conservative money management. (Reagan agreed with VOlcker's anti-inflationary stance but Reagan's advisors prevailed on him to understand that having mild to moderate inflation might have long term problems but would assist the Pubs in their upcoming elections. Did so by telling Reagan their would be no inflation if the Fed loosened the reigns)

Defeating the elite means first and foremost getting people to recognize the common enemy, instead of all this squabbling "left vs right" BS.

I wish he would be more specific about the power that the owners of the privately held federal reserve exert by their agent's massive political contributions which effectively buy polititians to make laws to legalize the very wrong things that are going on in the world of finance--like taking down the wall with the repeal of Glass-Steagall...for generations, families bought bank stocks for the dividend and the safety of income, and Glass-Stegall changed all of that so, instead of a bank dividend, these families started owning casino stocks.  Unfortunately, no one really realized that until 2006 and beyond.  That is just one example.

In that interview Rep Paul said that the chairman of the federal reserve "probably" had more power than the president...see this is just not specific enough..."probably" is just weak.  Fact is, he should have articulated how that the owners of the federal reserve drive all policy, period, and that since they also own half of the DOW components, their financial resources are endless...  the public needs to understand this dynamic and dark machine.
