Ron Paul Launches Presidential Campaign, Tells Truth To Whoopi's View

Tyler Durden's picture

Well, it's official: Ron Paul has launched his 2012 presidential campaign. Per the National Journal: "Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, whose outspoken libertarian views and folksy style made him a cult hero during two previous presidential campaigns, will announce on Tuesday that he's going to try a third time. Sources close to Paul, who is in his 12th term in the House, said he will unveil an exploratory presidential committee, a key step in gearing up for a White House race. He will also unveil the campaign’s leadership team in Iowa, where the first votes of the presidential election will be cast in caucuses next year."

More:

Paul, 75, ran as the Libertarian Party candidate in 1988, finishing with less than one half a percent of the vote. After more than a decade as a Republican congressman, Paul gave it another shot in the 2008 presidential election, gaining attention for being the only Republican candidate calling for the end to the war in Iraq and for his “money bomb” fundraising strategy, which brought in millions of dollars from online donors in single-day pushes.

Paul took 10 percent of the vote in the Iowa caucuses and 8 percent in New Hampshire’s primary. He finished second, with 14 percent of the vote, in the Nevada caucuses, and eventually finished fourth in the Republican nominating process with 5.6 percent of the total vote. Paul’s campaign book, The Revolution: A Manifesto also reached No. 1 on The New York Times best-seller list in 2008.

Unfortunately, with the ridiculous publicity stunt that is the parallel campaign of Trump, whose only redeeming feature is that he knows more about bankruptcy and nuisance value than any other human being alive, a feature that will come in very handy to the US over the next 5 years, it would appear that Paul's campaign has the usual snowball's chance in a corrupt 7th circle of hell... Which is sad, because Paul, with all his faults, really continues to be the only sane alternative to completel meltdown of this once great country.

That said, we hope Paul has more appearances such as this on The View, where he did not pander to his female hosts, and told the truth about many contentuous issues including the military industrial complex, planned parenthood, and the US outlook.

One piece of advice for Ron: stay away from Bruno please.

Not if the elites lose control, TSHTF in 2012, and Ron Paul benefits from the rebound.  2012 will bring all the crazies out of the woodwork too; we'll party as the whole world burns.  The harsher the crash, the fewer corrupt institutions will survive.  The quicker the crash, the less time the NWO will have to exploit the crisis and consolidate power.  Apocalypse Now!

I can see all of the past decade was leading up to this.  The conservatives need to bleed in the gulags they cheered for.  The liberals need to be ground into the dirt by the beaurocratic collectivists they cheered for.  The conservatives need to see that the GOP is not serious about spending and small government.  The liberals need to see that the Dems are not serious about peace and civil liberties.  They must see that Red vs. Blue is a false choice, and the real choice (freedom vs. slavery) will never be given to us willingly.  We have to pry our freedom out of the elites' cold, dead hands.

Funny, on Hannity tonight Sean kept pressing Ron Paul about what he would do to cut entitlements.  Finally Dr. Paul said, "There will be an economic collapse before we can straighten out entitlements."  How is that for some hardcore truth?

The President (whoever that might be), has to ride herd on around 535 "cats", which are busy hissing and spitting at each other while trying to keep their favorite oxen from being clawed -- hence economic collapse (The Great Implosion™) is inevitable!

Already on it.  Seriously.

My son's mother was married to a Saudi national that I had to find (hired a private investigator) to get her divorced.  Green card marriage.  Then we were married and son born one month later.

Apparently that's some tactic used to by "those terrorists."

Every single time I have to show a passport, I am interrogated, searched and harrassed.  They repeatedly ask: "Who is the child?"  I repeatedly answer: "My 25 year old son...."

Every fucking time.  Get's old, but I like to travel.

I think he's the only guy that would effect a real change and do the right things. As I write he's on Hannity getting the stupid questions that do not get asked of others. They don't ever really hit his core large issues.

I will say from my conservative campaigner experience that the one thing I have against him is his supporters. I don't know why but they are the most intolerant people I've ever dealth with. It's sort of like they perceive themselves as the true believers and all others, including possibly allied conservatives are infidels. I am not sure how this happened or that it is nationwide. As a libertarian type conservative myself you should always welcome newcomers, supporters and those willing to listen and think about the message of liberty. Intolerance is only for the dedicated statists.

I hope he runs and some miracle gives him the lead but I am not optimistic. I hope his son, Rand has the same values.

One thing I liked about them was their energy, commitment and zeal. I suspect that may be from where some of the intolerance eminated. I wondered if some were also hard core conspiracy theorists so anyone other than another well known RP supporter was suspect. The state party chair was a good friend of mine and not so inclined.

Unless you invite new people in as "members" or "allies" you will never win anything. That is the danger. You consign yourself to an eternal minor player.

Having said that, Paul is one of my top two or three choices for the Presidency.

Thats one of the reasons Ezekiel made it into the bible. There is a lot of redundant fire and brimstone in there, but some of the novel stuff is when he says: love, protect, raise your children properly. But don't think that you can rationalize evil just because you have kids and are trying to make things as good as possible for them.

I was a strong supporter and donor to Ron Paul's campaign in 2007-2008, but I will NOT give one penny nor lend any support to his presidential campaign this time around if, as looks likely, he uses the same screw-ups and saboteurs as campaign managers this time around, such as Jesse Benton and Kent Snyder.  Those two, and others, undid almost ALL the hard work of many thousands of volunteers, and their repeated bungling and undermining of Ron Paul's last presidential campaign seemed almost too extreme to not be suspicious.  Many, many volunteers and supporters last time were completely burned and betrayed by his national campaign staff, and they will NOT participate again under the same inept "leadership".

Dupe

From the "wonderful" SLPC:

09 The Federal Reserve Conspiracy
It wasn't long after its creation under Woodrow Wilson that the Federal Reserve System became a central fixture in the world of right-wing conspiracy. It was seen, rightly, as introducing European-style central banking into the United States. It was also seen, this time wrongly, as the latest form of spreading Jewish and banker control over every aspect of American life. No one did more to promote anti-Fed hysteria in the early years than automobile magnate Henry Ford, who in the 1920s penned a multi-volume, anti-Semitic conspiracy opus called The International Jew, in which the Fed plays a starring role.

Ford's modern-day ideological descendants in the Patriot movement continue to view the Fed — without question, an opaque institution to most — through a lens colored by deep suspicion, paranoia, and hatred. For many, it remains the ultimate symbol of New Word Order power, in both Jewish and non-Jewish variants. Nor is anti-Fed paranoia limited to the Patriot fringe. Both the Idaho-based neo-Nazi group Aryan Nations and the black separatist Nation of Islam have claimed significance for the fact that the Federal Reserve System and the Anti-Defamation League both were founded in 1913.

In May 2009, a group of leading radical rightists convened on the South Georgia key known as Jekyll Island, where 100 years earlier bankers and government officials first hashed out plans for what became the Federal Reserve System. This meeting played a key role in launching the current resurgence of militias. Less than five months into the Obama Administration, the Jekyll Island conclave warned of "increasing national instability," worried about the coming New World Order, denounced secret schemes to merge Canada, Mexico and the United States, and furiously attacked the President Barack Obama's "socialized" policies.

The local Missouri Information Analysis Center listed "fringe" candidates such as Ron Paul stickers as an indication of dangerous intent and need of investigation. The info was passed out to local law enforcement with the expectation that action would be taken.

Who's more juvenile? Someone questioning something that doesn't smell right, or someone who dismisses facts to justify keeping their head in the sand. wake up and smell the police state sheeple. time is running out.

Yup.  No police state problems anywhere.  The MIAC report, the Florida Fusion center basically tracking the whole campaign for liberty, the interviews with former campaign volunteers being harassed by DHS and FBI.  All made up correct?    No worries with the Council of Governors, the DHS hiring Marcus Wolfe,  the TSA putting "spy on your neighbor" messages in Wal-mart, DHS buying up coffins and every MRE on the planet, or the jillion martial law executive orders on the books.   Seems everything is fine.   Can't wait to see you at camp!  It will be so fun, we can share a bowl of gruel and tell stories about the good old days when juvenile bullshit like free speech was allowed.

Looked into that MIAC thing. Thank goodness some folks with common sense responded like grownups instead of cowering. You probably won't bump into them at camp either. Ron Paul had more support from the military than any other candidate last cycle. Put on your big boy face and say something out loud supporting liberty in public, do it at walmart if you feel safe there. Just don't wait to whine in camp.

I agree that Ron Paul has great support from the military.  I actually know quite a few military guys and they will probably be our saving grace.  It's the police I'm worried about.   The systematic recruiting and desensitizing of the police force is frightening.  I promise you the best and brightest aren't being hired as cops.  Sure one of the local deputies might be a good guy, but it sure seems the big city police departments are hiring to a very specific profile.   There is also a very scary trend where the TPTB and media are demonizing ex-military.  It actually makes me sick that our young men and women write a blank check for their life to uncle sam, that life is treated like a expendable pawn on a chess board, and then as soon as their duty is over, they classify the veteran as crazy and possibly deranged from battle.  I'm sure more nebulous legislation like H.R. 2640 will be in their future.

And trust me I'm sure I'm on "the list".

Juvenile bullshit. Local law enforcement endorsement trumps any fed bullshit. How often do you get pulled over by homeland security? Believe me a Ron Paul sticker is a plus.

yes I understand what you're trying to say

but you're wrong in many cases, and the # is growing; especially in the cities

you haven't heard of fusion centers I take it, or the training emphasis given by the feds to local LE concerning "domestic terrorists"

I think you should look into things a bit more before you solidify that opinion of yours

I already voted for Ron Paul 2X (as a write in), but seriously, he has no chance:

A) he is not a willing sock puppet (AKA Obama et al)

B) He is a terrible public speaker.

You younger (post-MTV) folks might not recall, but there actually was a time when the most talented people were not fashion plates...that skill was actually more important than a good profile...no more.

Be sure to VOTE sheeple, that will fix everything.

I'm positive he's doing this to educate people, and not because of a belief he can win.

I went to see him speak late in the last campaign, and managed to get lost in the hotel hosting the event, and went to the empty hotel lobby to get directions. After getting them, I turned around, and there he was, and we ended up having a nice 5-10 minute chat before his speech. To say he was aware that he was being undermined by the media and cut out of the debates would be a huge understatement; he acknowledged that he expected to get the fringe candidate treatment, but was stunned at how blatant it was. I can't honestly think given that history he went in for the upcoming race with high hopes.

It's interesting that virtually his entire speech was regarding the loss of direction in the country and emphasizing efforts to recapture freedoms; I am sure he's running to wake more people up and put pressure on the TPTB, and if nothing else force competing candidates to adopt part of his pro-freedom platform in order to capture votes.

While there's no one going to run that I'd vote for, I sure don't think RP will be effective at abolishing or at the very least exposing the Fed's illegal actions. Considering he's one of very few with the balls to say anything at all I give him credit.  But that he calls the FRNs counterfeit and was the one screaming "Monetizing the Debt" and has been trying to get the defict in order and social security and medicare fixed as well as wars and...perhaps they've just been giving him too many fronts to fight on.

The fortitude and stamina it must take to fight the system for as long as he has and at his age is an accomplishment alone.

But better to tear into to get him to do more since he's done so little.

Even if he tried to prosecute someone who'd have his back?  Who'd stick their political neck out?

The "truthers" glommed onto Ron Paul even though he consistently said that he does not believe in their conspiracy theories. He called their theories "preposterous." But the "truthers" continued to say that Ron Paul was one of them. Now they finally realize that he meant it when he said that 9/11 was a result of foreign blowback for US interventions overseas.

Only a "truther" could be flummoxed by an honest man speaking his mind. The "truther" problem with Ron Paul is one of their own creation.

How many 9/11 truthers are there really? Can they sway an election? There are more birthers. One issue people are complete idiots and the Left uses it consistently to divide. One of the primary reasons that Libertarians consistently get creamed is that they are a collection of 1-issue people...the Fed, taxes, second amendment, legalizing dope, etc., etc. They only go with a person who is 100% on their one issue and no one hits the one issue of all the subgroups.

I am one who's tired of RINO's, pseudo-conservatives and Democrat-lite candidates. However, I do not expect any one politicians to have 100% of my beliefs. I might favor decriminalizing pot but I'd give up that issue in a split second for someone who is correct on the economy, national debt, currency and de-collectivizing our government.

Paul is my number one guy while I would personally like to see Romney join the other party. I think at best he's a conservative Democrat. He would do well in a confused blue state like...mmmm...Massachusetts.
