Same Time, Same Channel, Same Protest: Live Feed From Downtown Athens

Tyler Durden's picture

It seems like it was just yesterday (and the day before, and the day before that) that we linked to the live feed from Athens' Syntagma square. Oh yes it was. Having narrowly avoided the midday sun, another balmy evening sees the exodus of tens of thousands of Greeks to the front patio of the parliament, where they will now chant in protest of a minimum retirement age of 58 for a few hours, go back to work tomorrow, then repeat the whole spectacle all over again. And while not so desperate Atheneian housewives bang on pots and pans, the Santorini/Ibiza-for-confetti asset swap is currently being finalized.

And in the US, dancing at the Jefferson Memorial results in a violent take-down by the pigs...

Duuude's picture

Thomas Jefferson...

"The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first."

And we are now cursed with Pygmies.

if, by those of minor stature, you mean our "leaders" <cue riotus laughter> I couldn't agree more

I would have done the same, Code Pink needs to go down in flames, leftist tards galore!

Good thing I wasn't the pig, wouldn't have been so cival.

FEDbuster's picture

Tater just wants to kick some anti-war, ex-marine, libertarian, freedom lovers ass.  If you let a bunch of people dance at the Jefferson Memorial, the whole structure of the American "Patriot Act, TSA, CIA, NSA, Homeland Security" way of life is at risk.

Apparently things aren't as bad in the US yet.  But just be a little more patient.

Might not be too long. Feds are getting traction on a major bank fraud story. It includes the

collapse of IndyMac and several other banks. In one case, a man and his related LLCs were

responsible for fleecing not only stupid bank underwriters but complicit, dirty bankers who didn't

care about credit quality and lied their asses of and then covered up (Sonoma Valley Bank).

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat nails them again. THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING !

With this single entity and his straw borrowers and buyers, he defrauded 15 banks and at least

Half a Billion Dollars.

topcallingtroll's picture

I hope you are right.

Several thousand need to go to prison, even though hundreds of thousands were complicit in fraud. A RICO case does not require that conspirators talk to each other, merely that they implicitly cooperate in illegal behavior.

US citizens will eventually protest....when they're being rounded up to be put in fusion family welfare centers (AKA FEMA Camps) for being homeless and a "nuisance to society."

serotonindumptruck's picture

Yep. All those residents of the sprawling tent cities which are appearing across the US landscape will be the easiest to corral into the resettlement (FEMA) camps.

topcallingtroll's picture

Homelessness is not allowed where I live.

It is against the law.

Parts of my state never really concern themselves with the supreme court or even know what it is.

The first country to form the republic form of government will likely be the first to be forcibly removed from it due to "austerity" measures. Ahh, the irony.

Its amazing!  I've been watching for @ an hour.  The vibe is intense...they're tyring to rally and attempt a putch on the barricades...

More drama. Nobody will revolt.

The majority of Greeks totally support the bailouts.

IdioTsincracY's picture

Of course you base that on your direct knowledge of their masochistic tendencies and sheer love of austerity measures.

Do you believe everything you say? Or are you sarcasamly challenged?

..He's right you know. The pol's know how to manipulate a gullible populace, at least to the point where the balance of force is in their favor.

topcallingtroll's picture

Yes of course.

The greek people will continue to support the euro until they don't.

The Revolution will be TELEVIZED........

Trivialized, marginalized, euthanized, reprised.......

The people in those countries are no longer willing to listen to anyone any more.  Not politicians not the media, nothing.  It's just that those in power are so damn stupid, living in a little world of their own, that they don't realize the potential of the situation and how downright dangerous and out of hand it can get.

Lord Welligton's picture

But they're to busy going to important meetings to have the time to understand.

And then there's all the expenses they collect while going to the meetings.

All the four/five star hotels they get to stay in.

All the expensive food.

They're doing it for the good of the people.

Posted some details about what's going on in Spain here:

Not reposting on ZH because it's a bit bitchy with long comments.

Lord Welligton's picture

Reminds me of the Icelandic protests.

And then like now I haven't a clue what they are saying.

I don't think the Greek people will stand for the wholesale asset stripping of their country.

I think they will have a revolutionary idea.

"Balance the budget now"

agent default's picture

I think it's more along the lines of burning down the parliament and lynching a few politicians.

Did I just hear "Riot Dog"?

BlackholeDivestment's picture

58? Oh I get it, corruption and the delusion of socialists requires all the world to be taxed ...and you die at work, while your kids remain unemployed. Whoopeee...

downwiththebanks's picture

To blame non-existent socialism for the failure of CAPITALISM to provide jobs, income or opportunity for the people of the world is a really impressive feat of sophistry.

StychoKiller's picture

You have the right to protect your own life, liberty, and justly acquired property from the forceful aggression of others.  So you may rightfully ask others to help protect you.  But you do NOT have a right to initiate force against the life, liberty, or property of others.  Thus, you have NO right to designate some person to initiate force against others on your behalf.

You cannot give Govt. Officials any rights that you do not have yourself.

downwiththebanks's picture

The political justification used by Enlightenment thinkers that 'private property' - which they more or less invented out of thin air - was sacrosanct at the same time as they're stealing América and capturing Africans for the 'free market' is one of the best examples of self-serving hypocrisy provided to us by history.

For raw, hard-core hypocrisy nothing is better than Capitalism, baby.

Lord Welligton's picture

You were educated in "Merica"?

Did they fail to explain to you that in Merica "socialism" is for the rich?

Everyone else is slave.

What were your history lessons like in Merica?

Lord Welligton's picture

The very same.

What a character.
