SEC Sending Letters To 24 Large Financial Firms Demanding Repo Agreement Disclosure

Tyler Durden's picture

Here come the Repo 105 disclosure consequences... And the SEC is only about 5 years behind the curve as always.

SEC SENDING LETTERS TO 24 LARGE FIN FIRMS RE REPO AGREEMNTS
SEC: WANT SPECIFIC INFO RE FIRMS REPO ACCOUNTING, DISCLOSURE
SEC: SENDING LETTER TO 'CLOSE TO TWO DOZEN' LARGE FIN FIRMS

We are fairly confident all the 18 Primary Dealers are on this list (not to mention the key TBTF Prop Trading firms).

Oh noes!  Not a harshly worded letter!   That will certainly put an end to the most profitable fraud ever perpetrated in history.

Let's give a big round of applause to the SEC for going after the baddies "guns blazing".  Maybe they even used boldface  ...or [shudder] an exclamation point.

I wonder if these letters arrived before or after the invites to the golf weekend?

Well at leat she looks like she's doing something. That should silence a couple of her critics.

Nobody has done sh*t until we start seeing perp walks.

This whole financial crisis boils down to garden variety fraud, and a thousand examples of misrepresenting value,  failure to disclose risk,  and flat out lying.   Yet not a single douchebag working for a major bank has even been brought up on charges.    Is it any wonder the entire world (including the entire banking industry) laughs at the ineptitude of the bumbling SEC.

They are nothing short of uneducated when it comes to modern finance. They're totally out of their league.  All they need to do is press hard and ask the right questions... but a good droning, overly-wordy, nonsensical answer shuts them up every time.

Good doggy.

You're assuming that Mary's job is to prosecute the propdesks manipulating this market.

That would be in direct opposition to the people who appointed her.

She doesn't work for US. She works for the White House.

Dear TBTF

You have once again exposed our clownish buffoonery.  We are willing to look like dopes but you have to leave us an out or the locals may very well demand us to be replaced.  I know you have jobs waiting for us, but a lot of the boys are used to spending 6 hours a day on tranny porn and I know policy is no more than 1 hour at your firms.  So please do better at hiding your fraud we don't want things to get to hot.  After all we don't want the cattle to start looking into what we are doing.

XOXO

SEC

hahahaha......good to see the SEC doesn't change their game plan.  don't want to fuck with the status quo but want to appear to be doing something (after all they have all justify that $1b taxpayer funded porn subsidy).

2 years after BSC went down and they are asking now.  expect this to be a prolific exercise for the SEC.  self reporting by financial firms worked so well in the past.

Dear TBTF

As part of our routine process, we periodically must publish empty slaps on the wrist in order to keep appearances.  Please refer this inquiry to your most junior clerk or simply ignore it.  This should not be taken as a signal that we intend to opt out of our capture arrangement or pursue damages.  We applaud your innovative and courageous acts to save our financial system.

Regards,

SEC

The SEC is a captured regulator--witness the revolving door between the SEC and Wall Street.

This is just posturing so Congress does not cut funding to the pathetically captured bureaucracy.

It's important to have an investigation that finds no wrong doing on the part of the key players.

Apparently this repo scam has raised a lot more question than was apparent from the MSM's coverage.

I'm sure this will put an end to the debate once and for all that there is nothing shady going on -- I'm just sure of it.

Letter warning them to clear their tracks, because it might be possible that we may have to actually, you know, look into these repo thingies.
