Second Hindenburg Omen Confirmation In As Many Days, Third H.O. Event In One Week

Tyler Durden's picture

Longs may be forgiven if they are sweating their long positions over the weekend: not only did we just have a second, and far more solid Hindenburg Omen confirmation today, with 82 new highs, and 94 new lows, but the Saturday is the day when Iran launches its nuclear reactor, and everyone will be very jumpy regarding any piece of news out of the middle east. As for the H.O., the more validations we receive, the greater the confusion in the market, and the greater the possibility for a melt down (or up, as the case may be now that the market is unlike what it has ever been in the past). Furthermore, with implied correlation at record levels (JCJ at around 78), any potential crash will be like never before, as virtually all stocks now go up or down as one, more so than ever before. And should the HFT STOP command take place, the future should be very interesting indeed (at least for the primary dealers, and the Atari consoles which are unable to VWAP dump their holdings in the nano second before stuff goes bidless).

Good Morning fellow ZH'ers -

As you read through this thread, you may come to the conclusion that there was some nefarious reason for the "hot potato" I dropped into this post.  Not the case.  however, I would like to bring your attention to concerns some on this site have.  How about an open forum post as suggested by Crockett?  We can discuss our points of view from a clean slate.  Thank you.

Lots of media heat about a building that in fact
doesn't even exist.

Here's some light.

Be prepared to be surprised.

http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/917.html

There is no "Ground Zero" Mosque

You've got to hand it to the right wing and wing nut news media.

They've mastered the art of creating "reality" out of hot air.

There is no mosque being built on so-called Ground Zero.

45 Park Place is only loosely in the neighborhood of the World Trade Center.

It's not a mosque. It's not a massive structure dominating Ground Zero. It's an small existing building that has sat empty since September 11, 2001. The plans call for it to be converted to a community center.

But that kind of basic factual information have never interfered with the US news media's hate mongering.

This is an Islamic "education" center.  There will be Islamic education and worship going on there regardles.  Whether one calls it a "mosque" is pure semantics.

Here are some quotes directly from the Qur'an, which I offer without comment:

Qur'an:8:12: "I shall terrorize the infidels. So wound their bodies and incapacitate them because they oppose Allah and His Apostle."

Qur'an:8:57: "If you gain mastery over them in battle, inflict such a defeat as would terrorize them, so that they would learn a lesson and be warned."

Qur'an:8:67: "It is not fitting for any prophet to have prisoners until he has made a great slaughter in the land."

Ishaq:327: "Allah said, 'A prophet must slaughter before collecting captives. A slaughtered enemy is driven from the land. Muhammad, you craved the desires of this world, its goods and the ransom captives would bring. But Allah desires killing them to manifest the religion.'"

Ishaq:304, Tabari VII:62: "I cut off Abu Jahl's head and brought it to the Messenger. 'O Allah's Prophet, this is the head of the enemy of Allah.' Muhammad said, 'Praise be to Allah.'"

In all religions there are followers who literally interprete the writings found in their historic books.

It appears to me that while progressives readily decry literal Christians, they seem to overlook the possibility that there exist literal Muslims as well and that their "book" contains passages that encourage war, death and terror.

Just pointing out an apparent inconsistency that you can dissonance on.  If I am misinformed, please enlighten me.

I won't bother to look up the quotations because we're all familiar with them, but in the Old Testament, God told the Jews to kill all the Canaanites (?) and take their land because God liked the Jews best.

In the New Testament, Jesus says that he comes not to bring peace but rather and sword and he will cause families to fight amongst themselves.

Correct.  What the New Testament doesn't make clear, though, is whether Jesus was saying Christians would be holding the sword or at the pointy end.  Certainly, in his own time, they were much more at the pointy end.

Without agreeing or disagreeing on the merits of the location of the mosque or even its purpose, if the structure is so innocuous, then why does it cost $100 million to build?

Exactly.

They are building a mosque on top of the rubble from their successful attack. Literally. It is what they have always done. It's name is Cordoba, which was the name of a caliphate in Spain after the Muslim conquest of Spain.

Where is the money coming from to build it?

The information being brought to light on ZH is contrary to the rainbows and unicorns image of the market and economy that powers that be want us to accept.  You really have to wonder if it is being done deliberately by nefarious sources so that they can bring to light the true 'racist' nature of the site with the end goal being to discredit it.  Best to flag as junk and move on.

However, the interloper can be discredited easily and should be, so the normal discussion of the topic at hand can continue in my view.

Village Idiot started down this particular road. Please reconsider your accusation. Bearing false witness against one's forum neighbors constitutes bad form.

that will inevitably end up with the 'racist' label hurled at the right leaning participants from the left leaning participants.

I lean neither left nor right, I am an individual. I also stand firmly behind the civil and property rights of one and all. I am no more afraid of the Islamic center than I was of Iraq's imaginary WMDs or Iran's non-existent nuclear weapons program. If you want to criticize folks, it would be nice if you would try to do it by considering actual facts and reality in general.

Why do people who are so very afraid always talk tough? Make tea not war.

Yes, we need an open thread. Love the junking below of the gay bar idea by those out raged at the people who don't want a mosque built near Ground Zero.

Hypocrites.

Sat, 08/21/2010 - 11:44 | 534795 CrockettAlmanac.com

But the "gay bar idea" is specifically meant as an inflammatory diversion.  What would you say if Larry Flynt said "I want to open a porn shop next to your Church?"

Who could consider such a thing to be a legitimate business offering with a reasonable expectation of profit? Such a proposal would be seen as a provocative insult and nothing more and you know it. If Flynt proposed such a thing would you stand up in church and praise his entrepreneurial skill in order to prove that you are not a hypocrite?

If there was a real economic desire for a gay Muslim club in Manhattan I would heartily approve. But one would expect that such a club would be operated by either gay Muslims or someone who is gay Muslim friendly. I don't believe that the fellow quoted by Village Idiot seriously expects to run a successful club in this case. Do you?

But if the fellow really wants to spend his investors money on such a loosing proposition, let's see some headway. The more they bleed cash the less money they'll have to promote their special brand of American entrepreneurial spirit and Christian love.

Sick of the people wanting to baby the Muslims over this.  They've been around a couple thousand years and survived plenty of wars...a fucking gay bar across the road from the Mosque is not going to kill them.

This is good for them.  This is a big fat kiss on the cheek from the good ol' US of A.  Welcome to America Muslims!! Better get thick skinned quick and prepared for controversy because your belief system is about to get you attacked by the very people that are embracing you now.  The sooner you learn this the sooner you can start compromising like all the other religions before you.

I'd love to see the business plan for this venture. What might be the expected return on investment? You seem fairly keen on the prospects for Muslim gay bars, any chance you'll put your money where your mouth is?

To answer your question, I just returned from Copenhagen (with my wife).  We stayed with friends that live there and the Muslim/Gay issue was a hot topic.  The anti-gay sentiment in the Muslim community has culminated into physical attacks and threats against the gay community.  It's upside down world.  Gays now have to question the routes of Gay Pride parades thru Muslim neighborhoods as not to be perceived as anti-Muslim and to avoid voilence.

So if the guy opening the NYC gay bar will turn this into an actual establishment and not just a no content flashing neon light fuck you sign across the street from the mosque ....then I'll have no problem throwing a few dollars in.  Even if it winds up being a shell of an establishment merely there to make a point...we're supposed to be a tolerant country and if the Muslims have a problem with it...can't we all just get along?  With that said so far I have not seen anyone on their end actually saying anything about it only ass-clowns like us feel the need to make war over it.

The ROI is already there in that it shows the hypocrisy of those that feel the right to judge motives behind the opening of an establishment and at the same time condemning others for doing the same.

Would you support the opening of a gay bar next door to a Christian establishment? Many Christians also oppose homosexuality while desiring freedom for themselves.

Greg Gutfield To Open A Gay Bar Next To Ground Zero Mosque To Cater To “Islamic Gay Men”

by Jon Bershad | 8:23 pm, August 9th, 2010

No, this is not a joke.  In fact, it is instead one of the most brilliant pieces of provocations in recent years.  Greg Gutfield from Fox News’ Red Eye announced today via his blog that he is actively speaking to investors and plans on opening a gay bar next to the controversial mosque being built near Ground Zero in New York.  To make matters worse (better?) the bar will be specifically designed to cater to homosexuals of the Islamic faith.  God, this is going to be an exciting block.

Here’s Gutfield’s entire post which he will expand upon during tonight’s Red Eye:

“So, the Muslim investors championing the construction of the new mosque near Ground Zero claim it’s all about strengthening the relationship between the Muslim and non-Muslim world.

As an American, I believe they have every right to build the mosque – after all, if they buy the land and they follow the law – who can stop them?

Which is, why, in the spirit of outreach, I’ve decided to do the same thing.

I’m announcing tonight, that I am planning to build and open the first gay bar that caters not only to the west, but also Islamic gay men.  To best express my sincere desire for dialogue, the bar will be situated next to the mosque Park51, in an available commercial space.

This is not a joke.  I’ve already spoken to a number of investors, who have pledged their support in this bipartisan bid for understanding and tolerance.

As you know, the Muslim faith doesn’t look kindly upon homosexuality, which is why I’m building this bar.  It is an effort to break down barriers and reduce deadly homophobia in the Islamic world.

The goal, however, is not simply to open a typical gay bar, but one friendly to men of Islamic faith.  An entire floor, for example, will feature non-alcoholic drinks, since booze is forbidden by the faith.  The bar will be open all day and night, to accommodate men who would rather keep their sexuality under wraps – but still want to dance.

Bottom line: I hope that the mosque owners will be as open to the bar, as I am to the new mosque.  After all, the belief driving them to open up their center near Ground Zero, is no different than mine.

My place, however, will have better music.”

It's getting junked because of the bigotry. It's like when racists pick up the cause of some minority just to advance their own hatred. This election cycle will be dominated by the absolute non consequential issue of the mosque (divide and conquer), and now this supposedly hero of freedom (brought to you by Rupert Murdoch) and tolerance got into the bandwagon. I'd like to see him next opening a gay bar next to the base of the Westboro Baptist Church. That'd do a lot better.

There is no law against the thirteen story Ground Zero Mosque being built in the place of a six story coat factory in New York city where the landing gear of Atta's hijacked plane crashed into it.

It's all perfectly legal. It's the propriety of it.The victims families have made their feelings known. The majority of the country have made their feelings known.

It would be the same as the US Air Force opening a recruiting office in Hiroshima in 1954 don't you think?

Propriety was the issue, at first.

Now, however, we are begining to uncover the imam's own words about his affection toward wahhabis. Isn't Bin Laden an infamous wahhabis?

"Please be specific while reconciling your response with the free market ideals which you have espoused elsewhere."

Ahhh, I see. Which part of the First Amendment are you needing guidance with? So I can be very specific with your request.

Sun, 08/22/2010 - 08:51 | 535873 nmewn
nmewn's picture

The rights of man are supposed to be protected by law here in America.

The reason we even have a Bill of Rights in America is because the people and the states that were delegating/entrusting to a central government such immense power knew it (the federal government) could not be trusted to use it wisely forever, if ever.

They, the people of the various states, would not have joined if the Bill of Rights were not attached to the founding documents. That is how strongly they felt about it.

In the First Amendement is the right of assembly...the freedom of association. Which is nothing more than the right to pick and choose with whom you wish to be associated with.

One of the lies that this Imam speaks is that this mosque is being built on top of the rubble to help in the healing process between one religion & many cultures. You know it is a lie because logically they are forcing themselves into a place the majority of the people have decided is not appropriate.

The freedom of association cannot be forced association or it is not a freedom at all.

The cold hard facts are, there were no Baptists, Catholics, Jews or Episcopalians at the controls of those planes who slaughtered innocent civilians that morning.

They all believed in the religion of Muhammad...Islam. They procurred an Air Force (see I said we would circle back to it...LOL) and killed people who had never done anything to them personally. By what "rights of man" did they afford their victims?

Obviously some victims were chosen, completely at random, to die immediately by having their throats slit, others on impact by the planes. Others were offered the choice of a slow roasted incineration or they could commit suicide by jumping to their death. Except for the plane that hit the Pentagon all were innocent civilians. Ponder that.

Another cold hard fact Crockett, is that when one follows Islam it is perfectly acceptable to lie to infidels when the purpose of the lie is to decieve an enemy. Effective as a military device, but hardly something to associate with a religion as most rational men and cultures define religion.

And by the way, I'm not junking you in our little back and forth here. I suspect you are not junking me either...not that it matters...but it is interesting how far a troll will burrow through postings...LOL.

Cordoba House

Statement on the Proposed “Cordoba House” Mosque near Ground Zero

By: Newt Gingrich

There should be no mosque near Ground Zero in New York so long as there are no churches or synagogues in Saudi Arabia. The time for double standards that allow Islamists to behave aggressively toward us while they demand our weakness and submission is over.

The proposed "Cordoba House" overlooking the World Trade Center site – where a group of jihadists killed over 3000 Americans and destroyed one of our most famous landmarks - is a test of the timidity, passivity and historic ignorance of American elites. For example, most of them don’t understand that “Cordoba House” is a deliberately insulting term. It refers to Cordoba, Spain (see footnote below) – the capital of Muslim conquerors who symbolized their victory over the Christian Spaniards by transforming a church there into the world’s third-largest mosque complex.

Today, some of the Mosque’s backers insist this term is being used to "symbolize interfaith cooperation" when, in fact, every Islamist in the world recognizes Cordoba as a symbol of Islamic conquest. It is a sign of their contempt for Americans and their confidence in our historic ignorance that they would deliberately insult us this way. Those Islamists and their apologists who argue for "religious toleration" are arrogantly dishonest. They ignore the fact that more than 100 mosques already exist in New York City. Meanwhile, there are no churches or synagogues in all of Saudi Arabia. In fact no Christian or Jew can even enter Mecca.  And they lecture us about tolerance.

If the people behind the Cordoba House were serious about religious toleration, they would be imploring the Saudis, as fellow Muslims, to immediately open up Mecca to all and immediately announce their intention to allow non-Muslim houses of worship in the Kingdom. They should be asked by the news media if they would be willing to lead such a campaign.

We have not been able to rebuild the World Trade Center in nine years. Now we are being told a 13 story, $100 million megamosque will be built within a year overlooking the site of the most devastating surprise attack in American history.

Finally where is the money coming from? The people behind the Cordoba House refuse to reveal all their funding sources. America is experiencing an Islamist cultural-political offensive designed to undermine and destroy our civilization. Sadly, too many of our elites are the willing apologists for those who would destroy them if they could.

No mosque.

No self deception.

No surrender.

The time to take a stand is now - at this site on this issue.

NOTE: It was captured in 711[4] by a Muslim army: in 716 it became a provincial capital, depending from the Caliphate of Damascus

Any Jewish person has a right to claim Israeli citizenship, but Palestinian refugees are not granted the right to return to their homes.

If you follow Newt's line of reasoning then it is hypocritical for any Jewish person to claim American citizenship if they do not call on Israel to recognize the Palestinian right of return.

Village Idiot, do you claim American citizenship and if you do have you contacted the Israeli government in an effort to expedite the Palestinians' right to return home?

I think that is right.  Obama is resigned to Iran having nuclear weapons, as he is not interested in the collateral impact of forcing a showdown.  Israel seems likely to follow that lead, as absent US support, the cost of a strike to Israel is too much to bear.  I think Israel will adopt a "mutualy assured destruction" posture with Iran, saying in effect: any WMD attacks on Israel, regardless of proof of origin, will be met with a rain of nuclear anhialation on Iran.

Back in '91, Israel published a statement that "...any use of WMD on Israeli soil would be resolved in a blinding instant."  We immediately tore down half of our comm gear (HF, VHF, UHF, SatCom) and put them into Conex box, drove the ground rods into the sand, moved the piss-points to the ground rods.

Comm Chief not so happy after 3 days of that.

Point being: MAD been in effect since a long time, probably between 6-Day War and '73 Yom Kippur.

Stuff going bidless...the dow dropped 23 points in one tick tonight at 21:14; a  demonstration of HFT muscle flexing at its worst.

I was watching the SPX futures on Futures.com about that time last night in Oz & I swear the daily chart showed a candle with a tail touching below 100. It was surreal & I even forced my non interested wife to confirm what I was looking at. I lost view of the candle when I tried to switch the chart to a smaller time frame. Bizarre or a sign of things to come.

Can you please expand for me as I do not understand what the implication of the candle is?  Thank you.

Mitch, on my screen about that time the SPX500 had touched below 100. We are currently trading around 1070 on the SPX500. This would imply that the flash crash visible to me & a reluctant wife wiped nearly 1000pts off. It was obviously some sort of error but was clearly visible at that time.

Without being too melodramatic, he was saying that for the briefest of moments, the futures fell into the abyss and the world ended (somewhat)..........and then recovered. I must agree that since the May Flash Crash I've been watching futures while writing or whatever during the evening and there are some strange goings on.

I've been in da bidness for 25 years and I ain't seen anything like it. Strap on your crash helmet and buckle up your crash dummy. We ain't seen nothing yet.

Comments like yours, and the third HO this week, have me concerned.  I'm not scared:  I grew up on a farm, have a well, a deep pantry, PM, feel powerful in my choices and my liberty to make them (thanks CD) and a 30-06 rifle. Just concerned, deeply concerned.

Something bad is goning to happen.  Real, real bad.

I'm sure the futures are being pushed around by HFT computers playing each other for the fool along with covert and overt manipulation by the powers that be. In and of itself, it's not a big deal. It's the potential consenquences of a bad selling day with a bunch of HFT algos all hitting the door at the same time that breaks my sweat.

Just remember one thing. Regardless of what happens to the economic system, the sun will always rise and the baby will always need changing. We can see these systemic imbalances building as ominous and foreboding or we can see it as certain liberation just around the corner.

We have a severe open wound that's seriously infected. We have been doing everything we can to avoid dealing with it and now we are in constant pain, we're feverish and the wound is beginning to smell bad. We are coming to the realization that either we do something or the wound will do something to us. Either way, the coming pain will be severe but then it will end and we will be free from the daily dread and fear we've been carrying for as long as we have been wounded.

Liberation is coming.

Chill the fuck out dude. You have a life...the only people that need to be concerned are the people without one.

Let me guess... you're early 30 something, 3 letters after your name (mine is MBA, yours is ASS), no wife, no kids... just a nice car and a head full of shit and dreams who does not have a life. I know people who's life savings are gone and are suffering because of self-important and delusionals like you.

Good luck and try banging your head on something sharp to knock some #ucking sense into it.
