SIGTARP To Investigate Hacker's Bank Of America Fraud Allegations

Tyler Durden's picture

Two days ago, as was extensively reported by Zero Hedge, an Anonymous operative leaked various emails by Bank of America employees indicating a wilful and malicious intent to lie to auditors, regulators and the government. Many of the less than informed in the media space were quick to condemn this act as a lot of hot air, without having the faintest clue about the legal implications of the alleged activity. Luckily, a special agent for SIGTARP was not as quick to dismiss the data simply because it did not contain an HD video of the bank's CEO participating in a snuff film. As Operation LeakS has just released, a special agent for SIGTARP, which after spending millions in taxpayer capital has still to put anyone in jail, will investigate these allegations. It certainly is a start, even if the same taxpayers who pay for the SIGTARP program also have to do the SIGTARP's work for them. Very much like the SEC.

in reality, the taxpayers pay for national defense, social security, medicare and the interest on our debt.

the Fed is paying for the rest.  which means, the fed will be paying millions to investigate one of the banks they are supporting.

you couldnt make this shit up.

In reality, Grace Commission Report (http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy&hl=en&q=grace+commission+report+all+tax+goes+to+federal+reserve&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=4db05700009e71d0) all receipts on income tax goes to the Federal Reserve.

Reagan made this particular report up.

Nope, the Fed prints, but they are not "paying" as they are not spending their money but the money of everyone who holds dollars, via inflation. However, continuing this logic, the Fed owns debt, so if anything inflating lessens the real costs of the debt they hold, further enriching themselves.

Thanks for the tip.

It will be interesting to watch the posturing of the Fed re. more QE.  There are a lot of unstable areas in the world, and more QE (and upward pressure on commodities) are not what the world needs right now.  Maybe the Fed will let the markets fall and start another round of QE when public sentiment is more amenable to it.

The "investigators" have been given the info on a silver platter.

I'll make it easier. Walk into BOA and pull the backup tapes. They have to keep them by law.

Then get a few good database critters to recreate the databases and do a comparison. It's then really easy to figure out the differences and expose the fraud that wasn't captured in the emails. I'll assume that what's in the emails is the tip of the iceberg as nothing in the emails indicates the whistleblower was anything but a low level employee.

Then go back to BOA and round up mid level flunkies and get them to roll over on their bosses and so on.

I want to see perp walks, rope and lamposts.

He will be forced to resign without fanfare or public notice just like Barofsky.  Obama is the person in charge of the cover up (and all for only $1.6 Bn in campaign contributions.  I didn't realize the welfare of the entire American people could be purchased so cheaply but i digress) and as long as he is in there the major bankers are above the law.  Nothing will come of it.

Tue, 03/15/2011 - 13:39 | 1056381 Juggernaut Nihilism
Juggernaut Nihilism's picture

It's not the $1.6 billion itself, or even the privilege of being President for awhile.  Obama may be disgraced when this is all over, so what is national disgrace worth?  Not a bunch of money, not for someone like Obama, who could have worked  the political system for untold millions without any direct help in leaping 12 stations into the White House.

Look at Clinton, disgraced and nearly impeached President, butt of worldwide jokes when he left office.  Yet he spends his time being treated like a god as he is flown around in private jets to Davos, Aspen, etc. to give speeches and support his pet causes.  Obama has 30 years of this treatment to look forward to, transitioning from mere "holder of power" to "power broker".

Even Bush will be treated with the same obscene deference for the sacrifice he made of his own public image to get the wars started and push TARP etc through.  Give it a few years.  Just like with Clinton, a few years will pass and there will be a media blitz intent on repairing Bush's image, and people won't blink an eye when he is the guest of honor at world economic fora and summits on, heh, human rights, energy policy, and probably even world peace.

There are too many people still alive - both here and internationally - who know the truth about the criminal Bush family, so I don't think we'll see GDub come out of hiding for a while. I do, however, think Jeb will be brought out to try and continue the criminal family enterprise of stealing from America, but I hope the citizenry won't be fooled into thinking he is "different".
