In my opinion this is a event put on by British Intelligence, to gather information, names and pictures of any potential troublemakers. This sort of thing is called a honeypot operation. Anytime you show up at these things, your photo is taken, your license number, etc, is taken and they put you on the list. One thing I have noticed in my travels , telling all who will hear me to please wake up, is that there is this kind of holy grail of military worship (as I call it) where you cannot ever say anything that may be construed as being disrespectful of the military. I cannot tell you how many times I have had to explain to people about this sort of thing. This blind obsequious genuflecting toward the military members has got to stop. These men are in wars killing and being killed and innocent people are dying for nothing. Can you folks not see this? Can you not see that valor in defense of the indefensible is wasted? Can you not see this? Sir , we are wrong. People say, well God bless our military. I say to them. Why do you utter a prayer such as this to a Perfect God? Why would a Perfect God honor such a prayer, when the people who you are wanting to pray for, are murdering innocent people? Why indeed?

Were some soldiers treated poorly on their return from Vietnam? Absolutely... which has become part of our conditioning. I don't think the soldier deserves our disdain... But like I said... It isn't respect that they deserve either, it is pity. Pity for signing up for an unjust mission that is different from what is being sold.
But I will acknowledge... credit is passed around for success that likely is undeserved, based on a system of near slave labor in far away Asian lands and propped up by debt that soon won't be serviced in system that will ultimately collapse. None of that changes the simple fact that hero worship of our military is misplaced.
In my mind there is no reason for hero worship of any kind. Humans are human. Some excel while other do not. Failure yesterday does not indicate failure today or tomorrow and vis a vis with success. However, we are dealing with humans here and with humans that have spent generations figuring out how to get us to dance to their tune. Why else would Lloyd Blankfein, George Bush, Nancy Pelosi, or in this case the sitting government of Ireland attempt to say they were on a heroic mission from GOD or saving the world from a ravage of their own creation? There is nothing heroic about the sum of all "evil" in human endeavor, whatever guise it arrives in.
What should be noted however is how do we recognize conduct that is of such impact, born from significant risk to self that renders itself heroic. In this my present view is that we should concentrate on what was heroic while remembering how the sacrifice of the actual individual that performed the deed/s elevated the ordinary to the extraordinary. A fine example from recent history..

I am sure there are those who would suggest that Havel was a brainwashed pawn serving western financial interests, or that his opinion is rendered moot because the society that bore him reveled in his example and elected him to office. So in their minds, as they go to war, they think it is all a big war game, the same kind of war game they have been playing all these years on the internet and in their houses, staying up late playing these games to the wee hours, never knowing that with this brain washing,they would be called upon soon, as if by chance(not) to do in real life what it is they have been fantasizing about in their minds, to be a hero and to kill the bad guys. So we see that all along these war games that you see adverstised on MTV and before WWF etc are all being used for one purpose. To corrupt the minds of young men and make them pliable for usage as willing chumps fighting the wars that never end chasing enemies that can never be found. God help us. These are the same men and women who will be used, after their mettle has been tested in wars in these foreign lands, to come here and do to us as they have done to poor defenseless innocent Afghans and Iraqis, kick in doors, search and destroy. This is why this old soldier refuses to bow the knee and worship this modern day soldier because I know that one day soon, more than likely , I and many others will have to deal with them one way or the other. They are the seed of my loins and it is my fault but we were too busy making money and chasing the American dream and did not raise them correctly so now they are what they are. The "volunteer chumps" are NOT currently defending any of our liberties. They are abroad wreaking havoc and death, and creating untold enemies and blowback. The only "privileges" they are defending are the privileges of an elite few, and the global corporations and MIC that serve them. The "chumps" are NOT defending freedom, but are defending puppet despots, sheikhdoms, and drug lords. They are contributing to the steady EROSION of our liberties by martial legislation and upward transfer of wealth. That argument is flawed for a number of reasons. It makes no distinction between conscious and deliberate acts of malice, and accidental or mistaken acts. I contend the leaders are fully aware of their hypocrisy and self-serving goals. Bush, Obama, Petreaus, et al are more to blame for the war crimes they order, than the youthful and naive soldiers who carry out the orders.
The argument you presented also makes little distinction between acts committed under duress, and those done voluntarily. Obeying unjust laws because one doesn't wish to be subject to arrest, is not, I would say, equivalent to volunteering to enforce unjust laws.
Also, merely because one does not oppose government misconduct in the manner YOU suggest would be most effective (such as blocking gates to bases) is no proof what you suggest is the most effective means of opposition, nor is it proof one should presently be doing that.
I understand you view. Held it for quite some time. Fact remains that accessory to or after the fact is the same as committing the offense. Being the leading figure in a continuing criminal enterprise is another matter, but those numbers are far smaller than broadly believed. I suspect that many of these supposed leaders fully believe that what they are doing is the best that can be done. Sorry assed shit those decisions are. After they finally conceded the possibility that these wars are motivated substantially by peak oil, he said that if they had just told him that from the beginning, he and a lot more people would have been on board. Only half true really. People have a hard time saying it out loud because well, it's a little ugly, but a lot of people realize it and very few are doing anything about it. Dick Cheney represents a lot of disgusting things but one of them is us. And he knows it. And he's right, the american way of life is apparently not negotaible and you're right too, this military empire is nothing more than an extension of our hypocrisy, ignorance and greed. Agree with the concept, but mac-11, tek-9?... May as well just throw the gun at an intruder.

Mac autos would work at close range, if nothing else keep their heads down etc The damn things used to be about 3500 , now I noticed the price is going up . Sinn Féin don't like the banks much. They do like their money though. Was just a few years ago they were, ahem, allegedly involved in robbing Northern Bank of £20m+. Well, it was the IRA that did the job but a pile of the Northern Bank money was found on a Sinn Féin member's farm where he was burning the stuff. So no connection there at all. Sinn Féin wouldn't know what their military wing was up to at all.

The point is the majority are stupid and don't care about economics. First target for the IRA would be to put Sinn Fein in power though, not to attack British/EU interests.
The next step is to declare Ireland a rogue state and for the EU to really start the centralisation.
Then again the EU is totally incompetent and will probably fall apart first.
If the IRA cannot get back into action in the next couple of years, and in full force, they are finished. Their government has just sold out to British and European banks. The British bank who was on the largest and sharpest hook was the incompetently run RBS.
RBS is majority owned by the British government and owns Coutts, private bankers to the Queen of England.
This isn't even hard propaganda, even Iain Duncan Smith (the most boring political leader I have seen) would be hard pressed to fail. Combined what will be high unemployment among young people.
I don't think those big US corporations will be wanting to hang around when the Troubles Mk II starts up, even with a 12% tax rate.
