Per Kyodo, the northeastern winds have carried the radiation from Fukushima all the way to Tokyo. The only prudent thing that the authorities can do right now is to shut down all public equity markets immediately to prevent widespread panic resulting in a repeat of the liquidity collapse of 2008.

I have a few thoughts:

All the talk about face saving cover ups is not what you are seeing. You are witnessing the paralysis caused by collective decision making in a complex technological catastrophe.

The man at the head of the political table does not strike me as a decisive leader with technical bandwith.

Money printing operations do not soak up radiation.

The main trading market is located within 200 miles of this.

The Japanese know that their government is not known for its transparency and they are all looking at the internet.

How goes the Japanese markets so goes...
