The SmartKnowledgeU™ 2009 Financial Year in Review

smartknowledgeu's picture

2009 was an incredibly interesting year both politically and
financially, as both arenas are inextricably intertwined, though on the
surface, the leaders from these respective industries often bicker and admonish
one another for public show, while smiling and shaking hands behind closed
doors. Uncovering this complex and hidden connection almost always requires
much deeper digging than is ever executed by mass media financial journalists,
who often seem more intent on fawning to banking interests rather than
revealing the smallest speck of truth to the public. No doubt there were many
huge stories sprinkled throughout 2009.

The scientific community presented very strong evidence that
the carbon-emission propelled theory of global warming is nothing more than a
scam of global governments to tax and rob their citizens to replenish their near-bankrupt
coffers and again, the public became privy to the nefarious marriage of
politicians and bankers. On the political scene, elite bankers propelled Barack
Obama into the Presidency in the United States by carefully managing his image
to the public as a “savior”. In 2009, it became patently clear that Barack will
be as much a “savior” for the American people as former Mexican President
Vicente Fox was for the Mexican people – which is another way of saying that
Barack’s actions are his “tell” that he will undoubtedly maintain the status
quo and that no substantive change will occur under his watch.

GATA and Zero Hedge printed many documents obtained through
Freedom of Information Act requests that exposed past US Treasury and US
Federal Reserve coordinated gold price suppression schemes, thus vindicating
the loony gold bugs that had cried “gold price suppression!” for years. Matt
Taibbi of Rolling Stone printed a scathing indictment of Wall Street leviathan
Goldman Sachs’s business practices that included one of the greatest financial
journalism metaphors in history when he called Goldman the “great vampire squid
wrapped around the face of humanity, relentlessly jamming its blood funnel into
anything that smells like money.”

And is often the case when journalists draw back the curtain
and expose the dirty truths of the cowardly Wizards, the Wizards retaliate not
by offering any intelligent rebuttal of their criticisms, as none exists, but
with hollow accusations of conspiracy specifically designed to deflect attention
away from the well-constructed arguments of their critics. Thus, when Goldman
responded with their own counter-accusations of Taibbi’s work as "an
hysterical compilation of conspiracy theories
", the only words that
entered my mind were “predictable as clockwork”.  When belittlement of their critics in the absence of
substantive counter-arguments failed to produce results, Goldman turned to manipulation
of religion as its preferred means to win back the public’s favor. CEO Lloyd
Blankfein announce to the world that Goldman was doing “God’s work”, a boast as
arrogant and unintelligently deceitful as US Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke’s claim,
earlier in 2009, that he “saved the world.”

Thus, it was only fitting that our spectacularly interesting
2009 would conclude with a long anticipated lawsuit filed by GATA against the
US Federal Reserve
that “seek[s] a court order for disclosure of the central
bank's records of its surreptitious market intervention to suppress the
monetary metal's price
.” The suit was filed in U.S. District Court for the
District of Columbia and targets Fed records involving gold swaps, exchanges of
gold with foreign financial institutions.

For those that refuse to acknowledge the second phase of
this monetary crisis that is brewing on the horizon and that will commence in
2010-2011, I can only say, “Tighten your panties, Dorothy, because the trip down
the rabbit hole is about to go way deeper than you can ever fathom
” – meaning
that the progression of the second phase of this monetary crisis is going to
trigger Orwellian visions that nobody will enjoy.

Many people that depended upon fundamental analysis to guide
their investment decisions in 2009 were caught reacting to, instead of staying
two steps ahead, of this year’s global stock market behavior. Since I founded
SmartKnowledgeU™ in 2006, I’ve always stated that our method that provides our
investment guidance will always consist of fraud analysis, then fundamental,
and then technical, in that specific order, a formula that has produced
positive returns and enormous out-performance of all major global market
indexes for three years in a row now.  To this end, we present a window into our mindset and psyche
that is a list of our most popular blog articles of last year.

Jesus couldn't have won as a Republican in '08. Same thing was true in '76 with Jimmy's win after the Nixon fiasco.

Elections are most often won by the candidate of the "lesser-hated party". The two-party tango has been in place for decades. They all know the dance steps.

Have a nice day!

I'll break it down for you simply.

- the man-made global warming hoax genesis was a computer model output that theorized a hockey stick increase in temperatures going forward. Not sawtooth, no back tracking, straight the fuck up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Hockey_stick_chart_ipcc_large.jpg

- Hmm, interesting theory, but luckily easy to prove or disprove- let's monitor the earth's temps ( of course, as scientists we assume the data isn't fudged or outright lied about- silly us )

- even an idiot can see the theorized hockey stick not only hasn't occured, it hasn't even come close. Theory missed by a country mile. Data no fit theory, theory should be placed on the dustbin of like failed theories. But not so fast...

-  a lot of money has been placed on this bullshit, so the BIG LIE is unbelievably still alive. Not surprising, so many other BIG LIES to have as company. Hell, what isn't from the MSM.

- Oh, and the purported culprit, man contributed CO? That was laughable from the get go. a trace gas (380 parts per million, of which man contributes ~3%, so our portion is, well you do the math anton), whose absorption spectra for IR is in three narrow frequency bands. Man contributed CO2 cannot capture more than two thousands of IR reflected from earth.

Anton, buy a high school physics book and get back to us.

I was going to respond to him but why. The global warming thing had facist intentions from the start to think that all those "exposed" to the energy of it aren't being facist and dogmatic in interpretation and usage is rediculous. Of course he want's only the "right" people to comment on this stuff. Because that is the way the "right" people who want this to happen.

Anton - I am not a scientist but I never see the logic in looking at the weather you have outside at the moment and claiming that it either disproves or proves the theory of global warming. Global Warming is real and will have major effects on our planet. I don’t see how people can deny the changes going on around them because someone on the radio says it is a conspiracy.

Warning: this is going to offend a lot of people here on ZH, but I am willing to take the risk, just to enjoy the flame-fest that is sure to follow... <evil grin>

The scientific community presented very strong evidence that the carbon-emission propelled theory of global warming is nothing more than a scam of global governments to tax and rob their citizens to replenish their near-bankrupt coffers [...]

Are you a climate scientist? More specifically, do you have a PhD in a climate-related field?

No? Then, please do me a favor, and stick to financial analysis. Global Warming is real, it's here, and it is going to be a major problem for all of us in the coming decades. Full Disclosure: I am 'long' on Global Warming (so to speak).

Thanks, I needed to get that off my chest. Feel free to disparage me in the comments, as I am sure many of you will. You are welcome.

On the political scene, elite bankers propelled Barack Obama into the Presidency in the United States by carefully managing his image to the public as a “savior”. In 2009, it became patently clear that Barack will be as much a “savior” for the American people as former Mexican President Vicente Fox was for the Mexican people [...]

Only the truly naive thought Barack Obama was "the saviour".

I remember talking with European friends, early 2008, telling them that Barack Obama had two choices: (a) reinstate the Glass-Steagall Act, nationalize the big Wall Street banks, fire the management, fire the traders and create a much, much smaller and manageable financial sector -- and this was NEVER going to happen (I was kind and gave him a 50% chance of this happening) -- or (b) massively devalue the US$. Guess which solution has been picked?

Other than that, I think your investment formula has some merit. Fraud investigation, then fundamentals, then technical analysis sounds like a winning formula for the interesting times we live in.

"Thank you all, I'll be here all week! Try the veal!"

Perhaps maybe we shouldn't listen to an individual choosing the avatar of someone that worships satan, the father of lies?

Raising hell would increase the temperature.

JS Kim is one of the greatest internet authors I have ever read, he tells the truth with such blunt force it is very refreshing.  Truth seekers love JS Kim, I have the utmost respect for him.

Anton, you are either an agent provocateur with skin in the game or you have a very low IQ.  From your previous comments on stating people were naive for not understanding the markets were rigged, you look like a moron and have lost credibility.

Satanists are often obsessed with the idea of personal power and control, and the idea of governmental control/regulation of CO2 and therefore mankind would be attractive.  Mankind (designed in Gods image) then becomes termed a pollutant on the earth and this provides some twisted law footing for population control, euthanasia, etc...  Full employment and price stability would be much easier with a smaller global population and limited resources can be used to rationalize just about anything if you have no principles.

Anton LaVey's picture

Ah, my dear Colonel Kurtz... Allow me a little digression here.

First of all, just because I use "Anton LaVey", as well as a picture of said individual, as my nickname here, does not mean I am a Satanist. I may just be someone who likes to offend the oh-so-delicate sensibilities of the most conservative members of ZH. Which, by the way, probably worked in your case. This is the Internet: hiding behind a provocative nickname is part of the fun. Isn't it, Colonel?

For the record: I believe LaVey's philosophy is mostly complete drivel, but you just have to admire the balls, the sense of humor -- and showmanship -- of the guy who created the Church of Satan, in one of the most religious country in the world. Read what he had to say about religion and individuality: he may surprise you.

But my previous comment was all about this: most commentators on ZH pride themselves on being independent thinkers, people who do not follow the herd, and are smarter than average. And I think this is mostly true: people here on ZH are smart, and they have contrarian view points that are interesting and unusual. I may disagree with a lot of people here, but I'll be the first to say they are an entertaining and informative bunch.

Yet, the very same people -- you included, my dear Colonel -- are absolute sheeps when it comes to Global Warming. They just repeat the canard that it is a hoax, and sound like they are straight out of Fox News or Rush Limbaugh.

Now, ask yourself this: are you a good investor and a well-rounded individual, if you go through life without ever questioning your beliefs? As far as I am concerned, challenging my beliefs, examining different points of view, reading about different opinions with an open mind, is all that separates me from the crowd. I may agree with you or not -- that's another matter -- but I always try to respect someone who will present his/her case with intelligence and passion. And something tells me Anton LaVey would have approved.

And here is the rub... people here have reacted exactly as I knew they would: by screaming "hoax!" when I said Global Warming was real. And then, piling on additional conspiracy theories ("he is a Satanist!") without ever questioning your own beliefs... or your sense of humor. You simply reacted to a provocative nickname, as I fully expected.

In other words, you have been manipulated -- by me -- and reacted according to plan. Now ask yourself: Should I challenge my beliefs? Should I consider other points of view? Should I be quick to judge people? If you are a believer in the Christian God, which seems to be the case, maybe you should consider I Thessalonians, chapter 5, verses 21 and 22. Also Matthew, chapter 7, verses 1 and 2.

Now, to add a bit more oooomph to my arguments, please consider this about Mr J.S.Kim: he seems pretty conflicted on Global Warming. Here is an excerpt from an article on his web site:

• At the recent G8 Agriculture Ministers meeting held in Treviso, Italy in April of 2009, US Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack stated that climate change had materially affected the challenge to feed the world’s population – expected to reach 9 billion by 2050 from today’s current number of 6.5 billion. As a solution, he called on the G8 to back the use of science in agriculture, including genetically modified organisms, to boost productivity.”

This is from J.S. Kim website at: http://www.theundergroundinvestor.com/2009/05/hundreds-of-millions-may-f...

Hmmmm... So, on one hand Mr Kim tells us, in no uncertain terms, Global Warming is a hoax, and he also mentions that "climate change" (Is that global warming or something else? What's the difference?) may have a severe impact on the world's food supply?

Which is which? If you don't believe in Global Warming, where does "climate change" comes from and what does it represent? Why mention Secretary Tom Vilsack's position? If there is no global warming (and, therefore, no, or little, climate change), why does he cite climate change as a danger to food supply? Why does Mr Kim seems to endorse this position in an article written specifically about commodities and food supplies?

And please note that this not just idle talk: in the same article, Mr Kim writes:

Those who invest in Monsanto (NYSE:MON) now, in terms of monetary profits, will likely emerge smelling like roses a couple years down the road.

Is this a stock recommendation perhaps? To be fair, he does note later in the same article that such an investment would be fraught with moral hazard.

I feel that my earlier opinion is therefore correct: is Mr Kim, regardless of his acumen as an investor or analyst, also a climate scientist? Has he studied climate science, perhaps? If not, he should keep a prudent silence on these matters, and focus on the subjects where he has expertise.

And with this, my dear Colonel, I bid you adieu. I hope you -- and all the other who posted on the subject -- are not going to hold this gentle ribbing against me.

Anton, the logic (or lack of) on equating the premise of man made global warming that will cause a catastrophe associated with carbon tax trading with your transition to "climate change" is the most ridiculous tortured logic that does not belong on this fine blog.

The 4 seasons show us that there is indeed climate change, you do not need to be a scientist to know that.  You also should be aware of the role the sun plays with temperature cycles on earth and that we have had many warming and cooling cycles on earth before the industrial revolution (when people did not produce much CO2 like Greenland).

Individuals with sound judgment, a strong mind, and lovers of the truth can naturally determine, after investigation of the facts from various sources, the general truth.  Investigation shows us that "researchers" literally "cooked the books" - so if these so called researchers had a degree from "climate school" which doesn't exist (perhaps you mean meteorology, you know where they have excellent weather prediction capabilities beyond 5 days?) they should be annointed our new high priests?  The head of the IPCC is a train engineer so your argument is ridiculous, this is political and this is another manufactured "global" problem "requiring" "global" solutions - just like "global swine flu" and "global terrorism".  The answer to that PRS system is global.gov (now governance).

In fact, any knowledge worker in a numbers field can easily see through a hockey stick chart, data manipulation (GIGO) and selection bias (where measurements were taken and which ones did not fit so they were thrown out).

Judgment and discernment are different than judging just as confidence is different than conceit.  Satan quoted Jesus from the Bible, here is a verse Matthew 10:16 - Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the middle of wolves: be you therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

Your comment on being silent on these matters if you are not a climate scientist, which is a brand new field is sophomoric.  There is no connection between CO2 and temperature patterns, the undoctored last 10 years has disproven that hypothesis (since temperatures have dropped).  Thousands of scientists have signed on to a petition that states the premise of man made CO2 emission global warming is not a significant factor in climate change, so the science is not settled (if anybody ever tells you the science is settled, they aren't a scientist because that's not how science works).

Global warming could even be a misinformation campaign to buy time as we enter a little ice age as some scientists studying sun cycles have indicated.  With the peak of cheap oil, winters could become more difficult and that could put upward pressure on energy prices including natural gas.  What is interesting is that Kissinger (advisor) talked about population reductions to secure natural resources (Africa) and we have genetically modified plants that we are unsure of their purpose.  If you add in knowledge of HAARP along with the patents and UN treaties against using manipulated weather as a weapon (part of Rio summit, but oddly absent from Copenhagen) and the control of the food supply - you are starting to get warmer.

I would like you to change your avatar - only because I don't want our posts to get confused - bald, shadowy, black & white photos ;)

I bid you adieu.

Sorry, I have to disagree. I've never posted here before, but this is just outrageous. I've actually looked at the computer code leaked in the Climategate scandal-- it's obvious to anyone with even a basic knowledge of programming, they fudged the numbers to create a temperature increase in observed temperatures.

There's no denying it because they even admit it in comments right in the code.

I know this is nearly a religion for some people but I wouldn't bet any money on this nonsense. As far as being as scientist, I'm not, but my wife is. When she heard these morons "deleted" their original data, she nearly blew a gasket. Her first response was "Bullshit! They are lying. No scientist ever deletes the original data. It's simply not done, ever." Since she's a published researcher with years of experience, I'll take her word for it.

( With appropriate very somber intro music )

CNN, " Killer Cold- the Ice Age Cometh", replete with around the globe drama shots of mounds of snow, statistics of death toll, wringing of hands by "experts", and finally a sermon to all of us of how we killed the planet.
