Statement By The President

Tyler Durden's picture

This morning, in an unspeakable tragedy, a number of Americans were
shot in Tucson, Arizona, at a constituent meeting with Congresswoman
Gabrielle Giffords.  And while we are continuing to receive information,
we know that some have passed away, and that Representative Giffords is
gravely wounded.

We do not yet have all the answers.  What we do know is that such a
senseless and terrible act of violence has no place in a free society.  I
ask all Americans to join me and Michelle in keeping Representative
Giffords, the victims of this tragedy, and their families in our
prayers.

Doesn't "gravely wounded" mean her wounds will certainly take her life?  I thought she was in surgery.

Shot in the head at point blank range probably with a nine.  She may be being kept technically "alive" by life support but even if she survives odds are it will be in a vegitative state.

..."if she survives odds are it will be in a vegitative state"

So in other words, she'll be back in DC ready to work on Monday morning, along with all the other brain-dead members of Congress....

Just make sure the shooter does NOT die in custody please.  This is Arizona we are talking about.  Let's hear why he did it.

I don't think praying helps a damn bit, perhaps some form of arms legislation is of more use (sorry to be so cynical today).

Fed Judge reported killed during the shooting. Wonder who was the main target? Also word is that the shooter is a Afghan vet.

This is a very sad tragedy for Representative Giffords, her staffers and their families. Maybe it's time to take a few steps back and look at the political tensions BOTH parties have caused with their continued child like policy battles that have successfully divided this country more then ever.

Of course both "parties" have divided this country.  That's their job.  This keeps all the knuckleheads distracted from realizing that both parties are working for the same wealthy elite and their shell corporations which are systematically transferring all the wealth remaining in the "middle class" to the banking oligarchy and their cronies.  This kind of violence is inevitable as people lose everything or just pop from all the stress it's causing.  Just imagine how pissed off people will get when the buying power of the dollar goes "poof"!  More "poof" = more "bang" from nut jobs and the growing number of disillusioned partisan dupes.

Maybe it's time to take a few steps forward and intensify demands that BOTH parties mend their ways.

OK, what's the over/under on further fascist legislation coming down the pipe tout suite? And of course, it'll be 1200 pages long, ready for a vote on Monday morning. Of course, Nancy Pelosi will say we have to pass it in order to know what's in it.

I feel sorry for Rep. Giffords. She obviously didn't deserve this. Looking at her cong. record, nothing stood out as egregious.

Next question: how many psychotropic drugs was the shooter on, and who was HE in contact with before this happened? No random accident, my friends.

At least two things I can agree with our President on...

"What we do know is that such a senseless and terrible act of violence has

no place in a free society. I ask all Americans to join me and Michelle in

keeping Representative Giffords, the victims of this tragedy, and their

families in our prayers."

Pot -- Kettle -- Black

Obama has legalized his ordering the murder/assassination of any American. Worse still, how many has he killed via the USA MIL he said he was going to immediately remove all troops upon being elected? If there is blood on anyone's hands in mass quantity, it is Obama and his alone for lying to the American people and in making legal his ability to murder others without due process of the law.

Yes, it deeply saddens me about all this. No American needs to die. Yes, there needs to be REAL change and that should happen with law and order, not senseless killing. Of course all ZH'ers know it needs to start at the top, the financial system, the military system and the SEC/CFTC/FDIC etc needing to do their job. Since lawlessness seems to be taking charge, it is sad to see some taking the law into their own hands. An honest judicial system is also key.

Agreed,

 The AZ shooting is reprehensible,

but Obama should look in the mirror.

How many assassinations has he ordered,

and how many children and other innocent "collateral" victims have there been?

There's free bullets for people who don't do what they say and free bumper car rides for silver whistle blowers. And free food and shelter for wikileakers. And free explanations about why the bankers get to decide what kind of car you drive.

Must not be a cartoonish false flag this time.  Even so, my first question is 'OK what new daggar to our freedom does the government want to bring on now?'.

TSA's real purpose is to test our tolerance, sell radiation zappers, find drugs, diamonds, and money, and keep the private Cheney prisons busy.

I guess this will cement passing of S.3081 McCain and Liberman's 'Homegrown Terrorist and Beligerant Detention Act'

Something always happens when they need to pass a really horrible and unpopular bill. Like recalling a million so-called rotten eggs, as they ignore a million letters of protest against S. 510, The Food Control Act.

Hopefully this is an isolated incident .. But such vioelnce is what happens when people take law into their hands (as they find justice is denied  by people in power and decide enough is enough).. which will happen ... If Congress, Fed and Treasury does not mend its ways soon ..
