Steve McQueen Rescue

RobotTrader's picture

Once again, after horrid results from IBM, BAC and GE, the dip buyers come in to swoop up stocks and rescue them from another crash, Steve McQueen U-turn style...

Today's Bottlerockets:

Have a good weekend, everyone...

Wound up tighter than the wet skin on a bongo drum..

If it goes up, then its "Weimar Meets Zimbabwe"

If it goes down, then its the "Great Disintegration II"

Or maybe it just flatlines were it is.

Initial regional bank earning results have been, well, regional.  Banks in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas have beaten.  But banks in the NW (UMPQ & GBCI) have screwed the pooch.

Wonder what the Pomo Tribe of Northern California
think of this? Meanwhile, PnFs for XLP and RTH are
40 and 108. How we learned to stop worrying and
love the POMO?...

In real life he drove around in a beat up old pick with his wife Ali. True, but he did like racing. Also check out "Le Mans"-1971

Good to see you can find redeeming aspects to the bay area as well Robo.  The lotto is a runnin' like the engine in the Bullitt car.

Happy trails.

More informative to plot USO and the price of oil on the same graph.

Don't forget the epic chase in 'The Seven-Ups'. Detroit steel. Streets of New York. Whatever-it-takes grit. Tough luck on the Palisades Interstate Parkway. They'll get theirs. Classic.

It's a great chase, but the cars aren't cool enough for it to be truly iconic. The chase in "Bullit" wouldn't be what it is without the Mustang vs. the Charger.

And the reason everybody is focused on the stock markets is...
Rasputin - Fri, Oct 16, 2009 - 04:35 PM

...because one-hundred million sheeple are trapped in 401(k)/IRA/mutual
fund, long-only, pens and NEED stocks to go up and up so that they can
recover their losses.

Furthermore, as I have pointed out ad nauseum, so too is Uncle Sugar very intent on stock markets rising because:

1. The "wealth effect" that rising markets have on the above-mentioned one-hundred million lambs

...and:

2. Uncle Sugar and the Fed have DIRECT OWNERSHIP STAKES in every
financial and manufacturing company from Fannie Mae to GM and don't
want to have to explain to Joe Six Taxpayer why he has to make up the
losses if the stocks continue to go down.

Then, of course, there is the little matter of the ten-trillion
fiatsco backstop of the entire McMortgage/McMansion market that Uncle
and the Fed have undertaken. A re-skying of ALL asset bubbles is
necessary for TPTB to keep not only their own investments and backstops
from dragging THEM down, but also to keep the lambs from turning into
pitchfork-and-torch-weilding wolves if they lose their job, their
401(k)/IRA pennies AND the McBox.

(Ras Conclusion):At this juncture, the stock markets really
HAVE become "the economy", since virtually everyone is directly or
indirectly involved in them, including the government and Fed
themselves.

This is why so much emphasis has been focused on re-skying them by
the Fed via pumping fiatscos into the Primary Dealers and instructing
them to go gamble like drunken sailors in the stock market casinos.

Because it's "a matter of national security" at this point.

And yes, I really hate this idiotocracy that we call our
government and the insane "Ponzi Pyramid of Debt and Derivatives Death"
we call our financial system.

And yes, it is still teetering on the precipice of either "Great
Disintegration I", or "Weimar Meets Zimbabwe" depending on whether or
not the Fed and Uncle Sugar can maintain their controlled destruction
of the U.S. fiatsco.

And notice that EITHER outcome suggested above is equally as
horrid, and in fact the "Weimar Meets Zimbabwe" one only PRECEDES and
DELAYS the slide back into "Great Disintegration I".

We're scroomed no matter what they do.
