Stocks Flushed As Bonds Up, IG12 At Week Wides

Tyler Durden's picture

Late day sell off in stock translated into buying in treasuries - no surprise there. The AUD is doing whatever carry trade it does. VIX at the days lows. And the IG12 CDS index closes at 113 bps, 6.5 bps wider in a rush.

SPY AH dupming bonanza indicates someone isn't too crazy about Applied Materials' results.

In other news, Summers continues to sell the kool aid/meth, (doesn't it cause holes in your brain?)

"In more obvious indicators like the stock market, less obvious indicators like credit spreads, the spread between LIBOR and federal funds, forward markets and what they suggest about housing prices...what one sees is a substantial return to normality," Summers said.

Guessing he does not read Janet Yellens pieces or ZH.

You write incomprehensible and incorrect rubbish in massive blocks of text.

TD et al at least have an understanding of the issues they discuss, even if I don't agree with them some of the time.

look it is not my problem if you can not comprehend something i write or understand it, and if you are still upset from yesterday after i have proved you wrong; that is also not my problem, and if you don't have the knowledge necessary to absorb the information I'm presenting, again; that is not my problem; it is yours; and if you have no other response to my posts except insulting me on a personal basis, and calling everything, you dont understand, a conspiracy theory; again not my problem. What i am concerned about is that there are many people here who come for information both from TD and the crew, and from us who comment here; and you try to present the things i write as incorrect, when that is not true; and all the information i state in my posts are easily verifiable if you take your time and browse the Internet or pick up a book. And my avatar might be annoying but is definitely better looking than yours.

Also can i assume that you have no interest in those fields, and that you consider the world as a one dimensional field dominated by financials ? If that is so, can i please point  you  ( as i did many others here)  to the work  done by Feyerabend and the logicians of the Vienna Circle. I don't think you actually know what hypocrisy means and you're trying to paint a picture of my comments that are not true or justified by my past comments. I'm anti lier whether that be republican, democrat, green, socialist, etc. It just happens to be a republican talking point in this case. I have disagreements with virtually everything this administration has done and said as well. The point your missing is that choosing obvious party line points of view is what disturbs me, especially ones that are steeped in propaganda like much of the bullshit surrounding the town meeting fiascos. It's hypocritical to be critical of talking heads walking the party line and lying to do so and then swallowing unaware the party line lies and propaganda of other groups. You seem to be able to get your market news from alternative sources but your political news...Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage maybe?

In recent history the far right has had the market cornered on fascism. Unfortunately groups like the Nazis use words like Socialist (even though their was nothing socialist about them) in their names so conservatives have free reign to cry blasphemy at anything that resembles what an actual democracy would become (a socialist democracy). And anyone you would describe as liberal I'm sure I would describe as moderate or conservative. (P.S. I did not vote for Obama)

"...groups like the Nazis use words like Socialist (even though their was nothing socialist about them)..."

Aside from their party name and self-description, you mean:

Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (formally abbreviated NSDAP, informally "Nazi")

- or did you think the "S" in NSDAP stood for "Somethingorother"? As to their economic modus operandi:

so·cial·ism (ssh-lzm)
n.
1. Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy.

Which part of that definition does not apply to the NSDAP?

I'm hard pressed to find a fascist movement that came from the Right.

Most of them (I'm only saying most to give the benefit of the doubt) have come from the Left.

When you boil it down, Fascism is the ultimate Statist form of government.  Governments that put individual liberties over the state are the antithesis of this.

Both the Democrats and the Republicans have grown steadily more Statist in the past few generations, and therefore more Fascist.

The ORIGINAL fascist party was violently anti-communist.  Mussolini was strongly supported by (and he supported in turn) Italy's established business interests.  And needless to say his social policies were very conservative.

So I get that you're very anti-statism, but don't wrap your opinion in some bizzaro history that only exists in your head.

Hi Steak-

Benito Mussolini had a great quote about fascism, in which he stated, “Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power”.  Corporations favor the conditions of a fascist and authoritarian state, where there are no regulations, but rather “public-private partnerships” that dominate the economy.  Those corporations that dominate are ones that have ties to the administration, the too big to fail corporations and other campaign donors.  Small businesses, medium sized businesses, and individuals suffer under this regime enforced by government.  Those corporations could be oil & defense (Bush) or banking & health care (Obama).  If health care gets pushed through, there will be consolidations, a few too big to fail corporations, massive bailouts, and government subsidies to their connected friends in that industry.

Where have I heard public-private partnerships recently?  The Tim Geitner PPIP plan (Public Private Investment Program).

Neither side is clean, my point is that they are both marching to the beat of the same drummer - that drummer is corporate money interests.

Second of all if you are going to try to insult me based on my nationality like many others on this site have i will politely need to tell you that you can fuck yourself. What im trying to do is to show that things are getting pretty chaotic and that argumentative discussion can not be achieved. And the world is not black and white, and it is not logical, so it would be good for you to drop that simplistic view and try to understand that both parties work hard to fuck you over many times. The same goes for the rest of the world.

Listen, I dream of a third party too, but, it would keep our Democrat socialist slobs in power forever. Ross Perot, anyone?  We aren't a parliamentary system, thank God, as that is a sure prescription for stagnation and inept governance.

Rebuilding the Republican party as a party of fiscal, small gov't conservatives is our only hope.

Tue, 08/11/2009 - 18:00 | 33297 Apocalypse Now
Apocalypse Now's picture

Pssst... Come a little closer and learn. Politics is the acquisition and application of power.

  • "Politics: A strife of interests masquerading as a contest of principles. The conduct of public affairs for private advantage." - Ambrose Pierce.
  • Einstein is rumored to have stated compound interest was "the most powerful force in the Universe."
  • "Give me the control of a nation's money and I care not who makes it's laws." Mayer Amschel Rothschild
  • "The real rulers in Washington are invisible, and exercise power from behind the scenes." Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter, 1952
  • "The real menace of our republic is this invisible government which like a giant octopus sprawls its slimy length over city, state and nation. Like the octopus of real life, it operates under cover of a self created screen....At the head of this octopus are the Rockefeller Standard Oil interests and a small group of powerful banking houses generally referred to as international bankers. The little coterie of powerful international bankers virtually run the United States government for their own selfish purposes. They practically control both political parties." New York City Mayor John F. Hylan, 1922

So, if politics is the acquisition and application of power, and compound interest is the most powerful force in the Universe, then politics = banking/money.  Since 1922, Rockefeller and the international bankers have controlled both parties.  Those dogmatically tied to either party are unfortunately deceived - follow the money.

To really blow your mind, think of Op-press-ion.  It is applied with the press, both in the form of money control with the printing press and the media "press" controlling the information you receive.  The two party system is the illusion of choice, using the thesis, antithesis, and synthesis formula following the Hegelian Dialectic to bring the US into a socialistic one world system ruled by international bankers and the Rockefeller structure.  Money has no loyalty to party, or to country.

If you think politics is irrelevant, you are failing to see the connection between the agenda of the money interests (pulling the strings behind the scenes in both parties to acheive their agenda - see quotes)  and it just might be you who is irrelevant.

I'm reading Carrol Quigley's "The Anglo American Establishment" right now. Recommended if you haven't already read it.

Have just finished "Tragedy and Hope" (more of a skim if I'm honest). Interesting that Quigley advocates a two party system in which both parties have essentially the same agenda. This allows the public to "throw the scoundrals out" while ensuring that the country stays on exactly the same path that the elites all agree on.
