The Story Of Stuff

Great clip explaining the lifecycle in the materials economy. Now you can buy that fifth iPod you don't need, and know where it came from, where it will go, and what prompted you to buy it. Hat tip Günter.

Am I right in believing that low interest rates cause a great deal of 'over consumption'? If money is being debased, why not spend it?

OK...

I'm going to post this AGAIN.  For some reason, it didn't make it here the first time.

On the whole not a bad video.  They could use a sound man (too loud & distorted), but not bad.

...But stating 50% of our gov't spending is on the military is a flat out freakin' lie. It's 16.85% of the FEDERAL budget (which is still IMO too high). If you figure state budgets in as part of the total spending, that? number goes down.

Oh, yeah, and 4% of our original forests left is a gross distortion. Forests are constantly *re-grown*.  The way it is stated they make it seem like we've clear cut 96% of the trees from the land.  This is clearly not the case.

...Y'know, on second thought, this video sucks dead dog as$!!!

It's clearly made by people seduced by the Malthusian lie.  WTF, Tyler?!  You just baiting us or what?

i'm a bit skeptical about where the commentator derives the "99% of what we consume ends up as trash 6 months later" i imagine that oil/gas/food/water alone constitute for at least 1% of all total "stuff". is that "stuff" being considered in this count? if so, it's obvious why most of that "stuff" no longer exists after 6 months, because the first two were actually transferred into the force of movement and latter two used in the production of ATP in our bodies.

ugg boots london I saw something shocking uggs london on my way to work the other day. uggs new york While bundled in a long sleeved shirt, wool sweater and coat, with a Pashmina, hat and gloves, ugg boots london sale I saw a man with his bike a the bus stop in SANDALS. He wasn’t overly well dressed for cold weather, in jeans, t-shirt and open jacket. Now, having lived in Oregon for the past decade I have come to be aware of what “true Oregonians” consider winter attire. ugg boots london shop This primarily consists of the inbred belief that flip-flops are a necessity year round, and sweaters and umbrellas are for tourists. I do not uphold this belief.ugg boots sale london I love getting dressed up for winter, layering on leggings with my sweater dress and ugg boots new york, a sweater and a jacket, and a rotating army of scarves, hats and gloves.ugg boots london stockists I don’t enjoy being frozen, especially knowing how easy a situation that is to avoid. uggs new york sale So personally, buy ugg boots london I do not consider myself a “true Oregonian.” I like umbrellas, and only wear flip flops when it’s above 75 degrees.Based on the population of Oregon, ugg new york I’m probably in the minority.
