As per the BBC, newly emerged footage shows the force at which the tsunami struck Japan's coast. In the fishing port of Miyako, in Iwate prefecture, boats
were overturned, while video from Kamaishi city shows cars being dragged

Just yesterday, right outside my apartment, a car ran a red light doing about 70mph. It clipped another car and flew into a group of pedestrians, killing 3 and injuring another 8. One family was standing at the lights, the car went over the father and 2 kids and killed the mother standing just behind. I know it pales into insignificance relative to events in Japan, but I missed being there by a couple of minutes. You imagine you'd somehow be quick enough, but the reality is it's just luck. Same luck as the guys in the clip driving away from the tsunami - turn right or left on the road determines if you live or die...

I finished a contract and stayed an extra night to have a few drinks with the boys. The dodge was fueled and packed and at 7 am I grabbed a coffee and hit the road. I filled up along the way but consciously didn't get another coffee because the lineup, I had to go. An hour later I had a head-on crash with a drunk. Good thing he was in a small car or I would have been toast.
I had to drive twelve hours to meet that guy at that place and time.

I don't know what "the end" will be, but when you see stuff like this (gloating over Japan's misfortune), you know it is getting closer. Take a good look around. When all you see is fear, anger, hate and apathy (or "Comfortably Numb" ala Pink Floyd * ), in all of their possible combinations, again, you know "the end" is near. I have reached comfortably numb. I know people like CD think that something can still be done, but I don't believe it. The best I can rouse myself to is to shoot the *&^%ers when they come to confiscate my guns. While I have not "fought" anyone per se recently, there was a woman at the park two weeks ago who had her dog on one of those leashes that unwind a long way and fold up into a round canister thing. Her dog went after my husband, barking, snapping. My husband was polite and just walked away, thing is, the leash kept running. She was on her cell phone. I asked her to "please" get control of her dog. I don't know what the fuck was wrong with her, she just let the dog do what it wanted, that leash was out pretty far and that dog was at my husband. I didn't think or anything, I just got in her face and screamed at her, "Get your dog off my husband." Finally, she started reeling that thing in, but she looked soooo offended, as if I was in the wrong. Spacy bitch. I had to laugh later, my husband said it was no big deal, but I felt like he was cornered into the gentleman role and couldn't act. I wasn't. Don't think I would assult her, but I might take the fucking leash from her and do what she was not doing. The dog was nuts.
Another time, couple years ago, my husband had a broken arm in a cast, and broken teeth (had been in a bike accident, he is okay now). We were walking and some guys slowed down to wolf whistle and hassle me. He started making kissing gestures at them. They slowed down more at first, and then they drove off really fast. They were clearly scared. I will never forget it. I've got his back every day of the week.

Everyday I get a virtual parade of dog walkers thinking it's just fine to let their dogs shit on my lawn. Apparently, there are only a few people left who know how to behave and we are pushed to the ends of our leashes on a daily basis. During my last dog-walker altercation, my husband said that I had to stop yelling at the neighbors. I don't start out yelling. I ask them to not walk their dogs on my lawn and I, too get the offended looks. I am at the point where I don't want any neighbors.
Sometimes the dogs will poo in my yard too and I don't like it either. I am wondering if putting up a good quality white picket fence is the thing to do. I could grow grapes on it too maybe. ;-)

On the second vid for just a glimpse you can see some poor person making a run for it just before getting wiped out. At 58 seconds "he" is just a small white blur on the dark soil running for his life, then he is covered by the blue text box in the lower left, then at 1:05 he emerges from behind the text box at the upper right running and is right a above the white car and at 1:10 gets swallowed up. Due to the altitude of the helicopter its easy to forget that so many people never had a chance even though they ran for their lives.

That was a 10 meter tsunami. There is evidense on the mountainsides in japan of much much larger ones. When the "Great Crack" in Hawaii gives way Japan is toast.

The giant earthquake, just like the one in Japan a few day ago, created a tsunami that raced across the Pacific Ocean and hit Japan.
There is also a"great crack" on one of the Canary Islands (La Palma if I recall correctly), and if/when the massive landslide occurs a tsunami will wipe out Florida and much of East Coast of the US.
