Stunning New Footage Of Incoming Tsunami

Tyler Durden's picture

As per the BBC, newly emerged footage shows the force at which the tsunami struck Japan's coast. In the fishing port of Miyako, in Iwate prefecture, boats
were overturned, while video from Kamaishi city shows cars being dragged
down city streets by the water. Footage courtesy of TV Asahi.

And even more disturbing, courtesy of EscapeKey:

Just yesterday, right outside my apartment, a car ran a red light doing about 70mph. It clipped another car and flew into a group of pedestrians, killing 3 and injuring another 8.  One family was standing at the lights, the car went over the father and 2 kids and killed the mother standing just behind.  I know it pales into insignificance relative to events in Japan, but I missed being there by a couple of minutes.  You imagine you'd somehow be quick enough, but the reality is it's just luck. Same luck as the guys in the clip driving away from the tsunami - turn right or left on the road determines if you live or die...

I finished a contract and stayed an extra night to have a few drinks with the boys.  The dodge was fueled and packed and at 7 am I grabbed a coffee and hit the road.  I filled up along the way but consciously didn't get another coffee because the lineup, I had to go.  An hour later I had a head-on crash with a drunk.  Good thing he was in a small car or I would have been toast.

I had to drive twelve hours to meet that guy at that place and time.

Not one of those posts came from someone old enough to have lived through that event in the first place, so, realistically, it's just the bottom end of the IQ band starved for some attention, any attention, and posting comments annunciating that intelectual disposition with's those same type of people who bang the drum of war hoping to get some nightly entertainment on the TV while seated comfortably in their armchair, and living a pointless consumer-based existence. It is the loathing of their own lives which has manifested into the loathing of others, others whom they have no direct contact or first-hand experience with, but to whom they wish the deepest of hatred.

Psychology 101: The bigger the front, the bigger the back.

I don't know what "the end" will be, but when you see stuff like this (gloating over Japan's misfortune), you know it is getting closer. Take a good look around. When all you see is fear, anger, hate and apathy (or "Comfortably Numb" ala Pink Floyd  * ), in all of their possible combinations, again, you know "the end" is near. I have reached comfortably numb. I know people like CD think that something can still be done, but I don't believe it. The best I can rouse myself to is to shoot the *&^%ers when they come to confiscate my guns. A sure death sentance, but I wouldn't want to live in the world that comes after that anyway, and if enough of us do that they might decide they don't want our guns that badly after all.

* Pink Floyd, "Comfortably Numb"

When I was a child, I caught a fleeting glimpse

Out of the corner of my eye

I turned to look, but it was gone

I cannot put my finger on it now

The child has grown, the dream is gone

I.....have become.....Comfortably Numb

Don't attempt to defend yourself.  Lot's of lunatics in this world - you're not the only one.

Wishing the disaster happened in NY or SF reflects a pathetically sick mind, just like all the libertarians who took so much satisfaction and amusement in the Tucson tragedy.

That, coupled with equating the economies of Iceland and the United States is indicative of someone who is completely in outer space.

Your command of low-brow, barnyard profanities is impressive, unfortunately your political affiliation isn't.

Don't get mad at me for putting a mirror in front of your face; these are the comments and opinions of your party: doomer libertarians with no capacity for compassion and who frequently hang out in trees.  For instance, Michael (a hard-care libertarian and a prolific poster on this site) expressed yesterday that he wished the Japan tragedy happened in NY or SF instead - his words, not mine.

Secondly, a simple review of the Tucson tragedy posts will show a disgusting lack of compassion by an overwhelming number of libertarians at this site.  That lower brain stem mentality is further proof that humans descended from lizards and apes, and some of us are a little behind on the journey.

These are your people and their opinions, not mine.  Next time you attend a "freedom" rally or a Tea Party gathering, take a look up in the trees... you'll find the actual number of participants is much greater than you think. And for the love of God, don't bring bananas with you: you'll incite a riot.

Ya'll are sweet. Thanks! Makes a girl feel good.

While I have not "fought" anyone per se recently, there was a woman at the park two weeks ago who had her dog on one of those leashes that unwind a long way and fold up into a round canister thing. Her dog went after my husband, barking, snapping. My husband was polite and just walked away, thing is, the leash kept running. She was on her cell phone. I asked her to "please" get control of her dog. I don't know what the fuck was wrong with her, she just let the dog do what it wanted, that leash was out pretty far and that dog was at my husband. I didn't think or anything, I just got in her face and screamed at her, "Get your dog off my husband." Finally, she started reeling that thing in, but she looked soooo offended, as if I was in the wrong. Spacy bitch. I had to laugh later, my husband said it was no big deal, but I felt like he was cornered into the gentleman role and couldn't act. I wasn't. Don't think I would assult her, but I might take the fucking leash from her and do what she was not doing. The dog was nuts.

Another time, couple years ago, my husband had a broken arm in a cast, and broken teeth (had been in a bike accident, he is okay now). We were walking and some guys slowed down to wolf whistle and hassle me. He started making kissing gestures at them. They slowed down more at first, and then they drove off really fast. They were clearly scared. I will never forget it. I've got his back every day of the week.

Thanks for having mine.

Everyday I get a virtual parade of dog walkers thinking it's just fine to let their dogs shit on my lawn.  Apparently, there are only a few people left who know how to behave and we are pushed to the ends of our leashes on a daily basis.  During my last dog-walker altercation, my husband said that I had to stop yelling at the neighbors.  I don't start out yelling.  I ask them to not walk their dogs on my lawn and I, too get the offended looks.  I am at the point where I don't want any neighbors.

"The Way of the Samurai is found in death. Meditation on inevitable death should be performed daily. Every day when one's body and mind are at peace, one should meditate upon being ripped apart by arrows, rifles, spears and swords, being carried away by surging waves, being thrown into the midst of a great fire, being struck by lightning, being shaken to death by a great earthquake, falling from thousand-foot cliffs, dying of disease or committing seppuku at the death of one's master. And every day without fail one should consider himself as dead." -- Yamamoto Tsunetomo

Then, don't be "Confused" about this.  It is really quite simple, actually understanding the situation.  As you saw but did not even come close to understanding.  You should be nay anxious at all.  Think earlier, nay later.

"I can't imagine the fear."

"Fear is the mind-killer..." (ori enters here)

"When you stand and be still to the Birken'ead drill..."

You'll figure this out; or not.  No one really cares if you don't; some might care if you can contribute.

Go Play!

God, I'm bored of listening to HAARP conspiracy theories.

I read "Angels don't play this HAARP", and besides being poorly written, that book essentially had nothing but a bunch of admittedly interesting patents. Yeah, they probably conduct experiments to use the ionosphere to detect missile launches, but connecting it to creating earthquakes on demand is more than a stretch.

Hope you are doing well where you are velo. I have been running some, but not enough, thinking of getting my beater bike to the shop, run some bigger tires, and not worry so much about speed and just "get around." My hair was long, it is shoulder length now. I am trying to get the courage to just cut it off, like buzz length or something so that I am not so vain and worried about my hair. That way, I jump on the bike and go. Used to shop on my bike (had panniers), go to work on my bike, all of it. I use my car too much, though I do walk to work. How about you? Where is biking in your life right now?

Molten core.  Tectonic plates more or less floating on molten core.  Tectonic plates banging into each other. Subduction.  Plates forced upwards, forming mountains.  Tsunamis.  Volcanos.  All going on for a long, long time - regardless of whether humans were nearby or not.

So people decide to live where this stuff happens.  And then it happens again.  Just like it did before the people lived there.  Why is this natural occurance suddenly a reason to claim that God is angry?

No logic there.  Stupid line of thought.

On the second vid for just a glimpse you can see some poor person making a run for it just before getting wiped out. At 58 seconds "he" is just a small white blur on the dark soil running for his life, then he is covered by the blue text box in the lower left, then at 1:05 he emerges from behind the text box at the upper right running and is right a above the white car and at 1:10 gets swallowed up. Due to the altitude of the helicopter its easy to forget that so many people never had a chance even though they ran for their lives.

Ancient Japanse drawings show large waves, which was a tsunami created by an enormous earthquake on the Cascadia Subduction Zone off the coast of Oregon and Washington. The giant earthquake, just like the one in Japan a few day ago, created a tsunami that raced across the Pacific Ocean and hit Japan.

There is also a"great crack" on one of the Canary Islands (La Palma if I recall correctly), and if/when the massive landslide occurs a tsunami will wipe out Florida and much of East Coast of the US.
