Stuxnet Strikes Again: Technical Glitch Delays POMO

Tyler Durden's picture

If there is anything that can crash the market right here, right now, it is a POMO failure (whatever that means). And we almost got one - the Fed has just announced today's QE2 inaugural POMO, which was supposed to start at 10:15 am, and end at 11:00 am, transferring money from the Fed to PD's, so that the latter can go and buy more apples, had a "glitch" and was delayed. Restart time (see attached), 10:42 am. New closing time: 11:30. In other news, Brian Sack's computer is getting the full Norton Antivirus update treatment. Additionally, printer cartridge shipments from Yemen are again permitted.

so far this is just consolidation.  the S&P is approaching the 200 week moving average again.  it should find technical support there.  however, people seem to be getting awfully jumpy, so it makes any short-term trades quite nervy.

if the market finishes big red on the first QE2 day, that may go a long way toward crushing newfound QE2 hopes regarding the stock market.

front month SPY calls are so expensive, it is surreal.  120s going for $1.48.  that means you're paying over a 10 pt S&P premium for one week until expiration.  it speaks to the ridiculous bullish sentiment.

Keep that up, it's working.

Seriously though, (assuming TD's info is correct) the POMO just ended, and it appeared to do exactly two things, Jack and shit...  And Jack is heading for the exits, along with all the other players.

This could turn out to be the biggest retail investor fucking in history.  Get J6P all psyched up 'Everything is fine!  The Fed is allllll powaful!  Buy buy buy!' and then whooosh!  The rug gets yanked, and they are all left rubbing preparation H on their reamed arseholes.

The massive insider selling up to this point was a clue.  Why sell BEFORE the POMO hits, unless your broker clued you in that it wasn't going to work because it was to prevent a system crash from say... Ireland going tits up?

I guess we'll see!

ok sheepdog, i think you may have a valid point! If proven out this is scary indeed that it would come to this. In light of that, the govern-mental delay of announcing it was one of ours, makes sense. If our generals had said on the first day that it was one of ours, then China may well have sent another more serious message.

I have not forgotten their cruel but effective one child policy. It showed they will go the whole 8 yards. Very draconian, no half measures.

Ahhm, you mean 9 yards right? As in giving it all 9 yards?

From the vault of useless information. Giving it the whole 9 yards is a WWII Army Aircorps term. Wing guns in WWII fighter aircraft were belt fed. The full belt was 27 feet long (9 yards). So when a pilot would dump all his ammo on a target he said he gave it "the whole 9 yards"

I wonder if Gold and Sliver are taking too much Money out of the Money Supply.  As more and more Money goes into Gold and Silver there is less Money in the Banks, in the Stock Market, and in Bonds.

Not really.  What do you think happens to the dollars when you buy PMs from a dealer?

They go right back into the bank.

The only thing that buying PM's does is remove the true, but largely unrecognized, foundation upon which our monetary system is built.  Using these raw materials, we can build our own monetary system.  One where everyone is equal, and gold and silver flow from consumers to producers.

What better way to start off the biggest racketeering endeavor (other than not starting it on time) than to quietly alleviate short positions and grab at bonds.  The next move, now that those two things were done, should be to pick up some stocks and equities on the cheap.  I wonder do Bernanke and Shirakawa trade baseball cards when they do sleepovers?  Or do they stick with trading Norwegian ETFs.

He's provided all he needs to.  DON'T BE IN THESE MARKETS.  Buy physical gold and silver instead.  That is all you need to know.

I prefer to watch the markets burn from a distance, rather than trying to loot the building before the roof collapses and I'm trapped under burning wreckage.

Seems JPM are not deterred by pending court cases. And why would they be with ownership of the CFTC and judges protecting them they just spit your face.

Nevertheless, when the SHTF these manipulators, corrupt regulators are the ones likely to be dragged onto the streets kicking and screaming and introduced to mr garrott. Now, I would pay to see that show. Maybe the US can contract it crime and punishement system out to China until this type of thing gets cleaned up.

The Harris County-Houston Sports Authority is short $5 million on a debt service payment for Reliant Stadium due this week, prompting it to dip into its reserves to cover the bill.

It marks the first time the Sports Authority has had to draw on its $56 million reserve account to meet a debt obligation, signaling that the authority is not bringing in enough money to make its payments.

Those payments surged last year after the downgrade of its bond insurer and the subsequent demand by JPMorgan that the authority pay off in five years debt that had been due by 2030.

Simultaneously, the authority's income has declined. More than half its $72 million in annual receipts come from hotel-motel occupancy taxes and car rental taxes. The economic downturn has reduced how much the authority takes in from those sources.

The Astrodome that sits next door to Reliant Stadium still has 48 million of outstanding debt.

They will make it up with the Rockets' playoff revenue, right?  Right?

Or they can charge Reliant Energy a few more million dollars for stadium naming rights, which can once again be passed on to its utility customers, right?  Right?

Because people would never think to buy electricity unless it is advertised on an NFL stadium, right?  Right?

first we price in POMO two weeks early and then it gets sold along with its sister, an hour before it starts...this is the financial market, the most serious business in the world..and it's a circus. Not the slightest bit concerned about the eventual outcome for silver and gold. And in anycase the AUD goes down with gold meaning my position doesn't change too much.

In the end, when things are about to fall in a heap where are people going to put their money to keep it safe?

I'm not going to be betting too much on an Aussie bank if end up with a consumer debt crisis.

Wish someone would kick the AUD in the nuts. Way over valued.

And with China giving some mild signs of problems you can bet the reaity is much worse. Probably the only warning you will get before the reality is revealed. Now that will do wonders for my AUD. Cant wait.
